Mog
U got it kanno, terra
The grandfather through people off but I figured since daddy was an esper, grandpa was as well. ;)
Worn of green that knows no bounds
a sword tis still, glory unfound
a shadow comes, that steals the sound
forsaken power, leaves dumbfound
No tears from allies can be found.
Kefka
Nope
Odin
Twas thinking odin too
You know, with a bit of tweaking this riddle would fit Odin...
...and no it's not him either. ;)
fake sigfried
Nope
I'm kinda lost here. If it's not Raiden, a hint would be nice
Worn of green that knows no bounds
a sword tis still, glory unfound
a shadow comes, that steals the sound
forsaken power, leaves dumbfound
No tears from allies can be found.
A moment left, a tragedy met,
a guilty past, kind words at last
love and hate, consume his fate
I thought this one would be easy... but that's not happening. Hopefully this will clue you in before I have to make a very obvious clue. It's actually tough to be cryptic about this character.
shadow, and how he can be left behind
Nope, remember the first line cause it makes this a short list.
I'm colorblind, it ain't fair :(
Ask a friend
I assume the character sprites will be green then. This basically leaves us with (as I remember) Edgar, Terra... I can't think of any others. Locke wears blue, even though I originally thought is was him.
I will guess Edgar then. I really have no idea!
No, its not Edgar. You're close with the sprite though...
The green has some relevance to a sprite, and after some thinking I've also added Bannon and Gilgamesh to that list.
The sword reference reinforces Gilgamesh (I'll point out now he is my guess to save confusion) as a possibility. The second half of those three middle lines in the first stanza are also strangely relevant on their own. "Glory unfound" makes me think of treasure being unfound - because Gilgamesh nicks ("steals") it and then leaves the party "dumbfound". It's shaky as all sin, I admit, but it's 1am and that's all I've got going for me atm.
The last stanza probably references his backstory or something, I'm not familiar (I should be!). But there's all those little hints you've dropped that point near here (Odin: Odin's castle is underground through Figaro which you get to through Figaro Cave or whatever and there Gilgamesh nicks treasure; not cryptic: he's a pretty straightforward character as far as I remember, he just nicks your stuff and runs away from fights and is mysterious).
Isnt he fake sigfried on the train?
It's not Gilgamesh, he doesn't have a sprite in the game. :p
It's not Fake Siegfried either.
I'll add a new stanza and if no one can get it by this point I'll just reveal the answer...
Long before the flower's lost
Rumors spoke of honor reborn
Men's search reaped time forever lost
Devil's tongue word's became forewarn.
lockes fiance
No, it's not Rachael.
is it the imp?
Could it be General Leo?
jumbotuar
We have a winner!
- Wears a snazzy green outfit.Quote:
Worn of green that knows no bounds
- Got killed before joining the partyQuote:
a sword tis still, glory unfound
- Kefka used a shadow to fool Leo and Killed himQuote:
a shadow comes, that steals the sound
- Leo refused Magitech infusion but was killed by a Magitech KnightQuote:
forsaken power, leaves dumbfound
- The empire certainly didn't bury him...Quote:
No tears from allies can be found.
- Leo left the base camp that gave Kefka the opportunity to poison DomaQuote:
A moment left, a tragedy met,
- He confesses he felt guilty about knowing what the empire did to Terra and then gives her advice.Quote:
a guilty past, kind words at last
- Leo is loved by the Empire but hated by Kefka who is jealous/Quote:
love and hate, consume his fate
The last passage is a reference to the fact that before the whole "Resurrect Aerith" rumor the biggest time waster rumor in the series was trying to resurrect Leo. Which is impossible without a hacked game.Quote:
Long before the flower's lost
Rumors spoke of honor reborn
Men's search reaped time forever lost
Devil's tongue word's became forewarn.
Aside from the "no tears from allies" line that I couldn't figure out, and the last stanza (I never heard of those rumors), I had most of my reasoning right :)
I haven't even finished this game, so I'll just do a really easy one so I don't mess up.
The prodigal son
False rumours: Half Oedipal
For faulty reasons
edgar. wait.
no.
Vargas!!!!
Vargas is correct. :)
I am the storms hero, the lightbulbs lord, and the golfers villian
I am the all father, I am the old one, I am the one with big whiskers.
If you cant get this riddle, it means you have never played a ff game... ever
Humbaba!
nope
Ramuh
YEP
I totally meant Siegfried when I said Gilgamesh. Gosh, how did I forget his name.
A possible tough one...
I have no name, to bore you with
ancient treasures are my gift
A surprise guest from old school myth
a choice of action leads to rift.
Hint: the third line is deceptive.
gogo?
Nope, and before anyone answers, I'll give another hint by saying it's not Gilgamesh either.
Lete River?
Uh, Shadow?
Kinda jumped on and saw that riddle, so if there's some kind of rule that you can't use the same answer twice through all riddles, then sorry if I messed that up
Nope on both
Lone Wolf
ragnarok?
silver lobo
I wonder if it might be Impresario. He's unnamed, and I'm fairly sure his house is full of ancient treasures, one of which might be the old school myth. Also that deal in WoR with him could be the rift. It's all I've got, sorry :p
The old school myth line is a good one though. I thought Lone Wolf first too, especially because he appears in V as well (not exactly old school in comparison to VI, but still!).
by the rift do you possibly mean cyan's dream, he talks old school
No on all of them so far but you are on the right trail with Impresario even if I do count Impresario as a name... :shifty:
OH MAN IS IT THE ELDER OF NARSHE?
He has no name, check. Narshe has relation to Lone Wolf who was also mentioned, check. There is a rift between Narshe and the Returners, and then Narshe and the Empire, the later caused by the choice to protect Tritrotch (who I assume is the old school myth).
Nope
That really leaves me all out of ideas. Unless it has something to do with ????? on the Phantom Train. I think there is another character called Impresario on the train, or at least shares the same sprite. But otherwise, I think it's hint time :(
He doesn't have a name ;)
Umaro
And now I have a handful of ideas, but one guess at a time! It's not the guy who painted a portrait of Gestahl, is it? That one guy who painted stuff and I believe gave them to Impressario.
Nope, you guys were closer awhile back.
Nope, does everyone want to keep guessing or should I just answer it and let someone else try their hand at it?
Got one more. The petrified queen?
I gives!
Nope, it isn't Arvis. This guy is an NPC, he has no name.
Is it the man who gives you the Cursed Shield? I have no real reasoning for this.
The guy who gives you Ragnarok Magicite/makes Ragnarok Sword
No on both.
I must give up then! Short of starting the game again and talking to every NPC, I won't be able to guess this :(
Many of you were close when you talked about LoneWolf the Pickpocket, you just went wrong on focusing on him. The answer to the riddle is the old adventurer who gives you his treasure and then gets plundered by LoneWolf the Pickpocket. I figured it wouldn't be that hard since most people go after Mog or the Gold Hairpin most people would remember the old man. I guess I was wrong... :eep:
I'll give someone else a shot at making a new riddle.
can I make the new riddle?
Go for it mikuel. Sorry Wolf Kanno, it's been a while since I last played! It was a nice riddle though, very well done :D
lets see... this is gonna be easy.
"im the king. and those who try to cross my territory will meet my wrath.
But those who endure my wrath, I shall aid"
not sure if this is in snes version... I played gba one
Odin?
he is summon but not odin. odin aint "king". I think this can be answered right with ff6 information only, but ff4 helps bit.
Oh man, so many possibilities here. It's not to do with receiving Bahamut after defeating Deathgaze, is it?
bahamut
dang it: I didn't see Jiro's post.
How about leviathin
aand I lost to cactuar. yup, answer was leviathan.
he is king of sea, and if you cross his territory, he attacks.
go ahead, oh cactus man
I am a mirror, no, wait I'm not, I am a puddle, oops, that idea is shot. I am a still lake, and an icy blade. Oh wait, no I'm not. But also I am.
Celes Chere
shiva. (something random, coz kanno got this right, I think)
nope to both
Chadernook
nope
The Art Gallery itself
nope
Gogo
ding ding ding
Wait what?
you got it!
This one might be hard. I may give hints as flat out elimination of options.
power from within, guides strength's fate
forsaken beast, from warriors fête
rarely seen, causes broken dreams
amnesic soldier, has the better one it seems...
is it Terra in esper form?
Crusader
...wtf... I sez atma
doomtrain
Curley/Curlax
No one both.
Hint #2: It's not a monster
I say its text somewhere written... or then its Wolf Kanno
Its something tangible and you don't talk to it.
...... the esper in the mountains?
Alexander
jumbo cactuar
ODIN!
Nope.
The last line in the riddle is not about FFVI.
gilgamesh?
Nope but he does make cameos in a lot of SE games.
Well the amnesic soldier is has to be Cloud. What does he have that's better? A bigger sword, or materia, something along those lines.
So, is it magicite? It's tangible and you don't talk to it (unless you're technical and count Ramuh speaking after transformation). Oh and it's power from within, y'know. You get magic spells from the magicite etc etc.
repost?
power from within, guides strength's fate
forsaken beast, from warriors fête
rarely seen, causes broken dreams
amnesic soldier, has the better one it seems...
Mentioning the versions would narrow it down if I was willing to go research, but I'm not :p Instead I will make lame attempts at guessing whilst providing terrible reasoning.
I think the broken dreams line refers to some sort of game error as a result of a monster, a la MissingNo. I can't think of any in the game, but I'm sure somebody will be aware of it (if I'm even right).
Part of it references the Woosely script the other references the GBA script. It's not a missing monster nor is it an esper. Also, you are correct about the last line being a reference to Cloud Jiro. Just know the riddle in question works differently in both games.
I cannot for the life of me find a comparison between the two scripts. I would love to nail this riddle and give you the perfect justification but I don't think I'll be able to.
However while googling I saw a key word Midgardsormr so perhaps that is related in some way. xD
I'll just give the answer. Its the weapon Organyx
Its a weapon that consumes MP to give critical hitsQuote:
power from within, guides strength's fate
The weapon can be acquired from the Coliseum and the second part is a reference to the fact the weapon is called the Ogre Nix in the Woosely script.Quote:
forsaken beast, from warriors fête
Its an uncommon weapon, and it can break in battle.Quote:
rarely seen, causes broken dreams
Cloud has a sword called Organics but the Japanese spelling makes these the same weapon. Zidanes Ogre is apparently named after this weapon as well. I say its better cause its more common and doesn't break. :pQuote:
amnesic soldier, has the better one it seems...
Well hot damn! Nice work WK, I never would've gotten it. The Colosseum and I didn't get on too well ;)
Please, do throw another riddle up :D
I'm going to let someone else take over.
