I don't mind some quiet drama, but making a big show out of anything isn't what I was hoping for this year. I'm not personally a fan of anything that involves a staffer making a scene or getting banned. I don't mind spreading a bit of gossip though.
As I've said, I prefer to keep things relatively quiet on our end and let the members make the drama up themselves. I'm kind of surprised at those of you who aren't a fan of subtlety, as I imagined you would be. We still have to keep this up for a month for goodness sakes.
Yeah I don't want grand stand drama. We've done that. I meant more like quiet drama and gossip like with when *snip*. Something like that. In fact, almost exactly that.
I do agree that we started this way too early.

If hero wants to be the ragequitter, he can voice his frustrations over whatever to some of the members he's close to, and then hope the gossip spreads. I don't want to get into a big thing where he gets banned and then there's come controversy over a staff banning, because that's exactly the 2005 prank.
This is why we should make some weird changes and then have a few people quit because of "creative differences". By weird but subtle changes, I mean *snip* *snip* *snip* *snip* *snip* *snip* *snip* *snip*.
Most could easily be just Feedback threads but we can start making some of the changes as we get closer to April 1st. The Feedback threads will throw them off about staff quitting as well as pushing VB4 and the move cause some of us "don't care for the direction". Really just silly stuff but things that don't sound too far fetch til the end.
You could just say one of us bought the site.
What WK posted goes along perfect with what I was thinking about earlier today for subtle ragefest. Okay, I can still get in here with livingdeadgirl so go ahead and former/former me geeze :p You guys will have to make the announcement that I'm former now just don't use any gay army excuses. I hate it when people use the army like it's my defining personality trait. It's just my job, man.
Then, I'll selectively complain to *snip* and some others over IM about how I didn't really quit I was pushed out. I'll say stuff like while I was absent they all agreed to make some changes to the site and plan to add in some features on the new vb4 that I really disagree with and when I came back I saw them and voiced my opinion against the already agreed upon by the staff changes and it started up some drama. I'll also mention how no-name some of you don't like how I always voice my opinion about things no matter how well everyone else goes along with things so you guys got frustrated with that and my "frequent absences" and pushed me out.
Then let's discuss two or three small changes about some stuff that can be changed back after the jokes over.
And I completely agree that with the staff dwindling smaller and smaller we can *snip* in two weeks. That was my idea first Psy! That link you posted was referencing when I brought it up as an EOFF Anniversiary joke because it was two years ago when I threw the idea out to you guys for April Fools. I wasn't on staff last April 1st 'cause of Iraq :p

So I was messing around on the internet and Lekana said hello so I was all like I think I got fired. I was away forever and when I came back I voiced my opinions on some changes that were agreed on and some drama started and all this other stuff. Then when I logged on today I was former/former. They didn't even give me an announcement :( So she's all mad I got fired and I'm sure she'll talk about it to a few members and rumors will spread. Unfortunately krissy (not at all reno) was online so it turned into a group convo and I feel bad for tricking him. I'm sure by tomorrow Joy and Wesley will be IMing me and a select few of you will get an IM about it so be ready. I wouldn't be surprised if Wesley makes a feedrama thread about it too.
Instead of *snip* we could just tease the populous about new knights. I agree that singling people out such as momiji might make them angry and bitter but we could do stuff like make an announcement saying we're starting up a new CK tournament and we would like to hear their ideas for events and then before it starts say we can't have it anymore because there's not enough staff left to really run one. Then we can just keep building hopes up about new CKs.

This is exactly the people I didn't want getting involved in the prank. They always blow things out of proportion. Pranks are supposed to be fun and badass, but they lose fun levels when people start boo-hooing too much. We'll see how this goes.

I don't care which two :p I was thinking with the new CK comp we announce it and then have to cancel it because then another two step down and we don't have enough moderators to run it. It's especially funny as part of April Fools 'cause a lot of people thought the first one was a joke but it wasn't.
I'm not going to 'leave' until the FF Character Tournament is over, because it would look silly to see me still running it. That won't be for another ~10 days.
After that I'll do what you guys want. I'm not really feeling this prank, but I'll participate to the extent you guys need me to. I don't want to be a debbie downer or anything.

I was thinking of leaving 'cause "BoB keeps trying to get me to do actual work like on vB4 and I don't wanna gorramit." I think that sounds pretty legit for my lazy ass. Being "pestered" into doing a CK competition and then getting bitched at for sucking when I didn't really want to do it in the first place also sounds good now that I think about it though. And it'll give me some time off surrounding my birthday.

also, Shlup running a CK comp without any planning or knowledge is brilliant. Just do whatever, and when it starts sucking and people complain, change course at random! After a while, Del can get pissy and say THATS NOT HOW ITS DONE and people can quit, etc.

The fake competition was a good idea whoever came up with it. It's injecting some life back into this prank.

For the duration of the contest all participants are required to welcome and greet every newbie that joins the forum! it's important that they feel welcome, or they won't stay ;)

Seriously, with that reason for *snip* being eliminated, you will see so much :bou::bou::bou::bou: fly that it'll be insane. But I don't know if it would be worth it. That's still up for debate.
Also, an idea for a future task - make a thread in some random inane forum and say the task is to post in that thread. Say it's about "ensuring that you check all the forums" or something. Even worse, say "There are ten public threads I've posted in over the past few days and if you post in all of them then you get through. I'm not telling you which threads I mean!" Queue everyone posting in every damned thread you've posted in that they possibly can.
Don't care if you don't use it, though, so far your ideas are pretty diabolical as is.

Alright, I broke Will and Fonz. I went with Laddy because he had the poorest quality threads and I didn't want people to get too suspicious. Freya did the best job this round, imho, so I didn't want to be too shady.
This round should really set them off though, especially since it's been more than half a day since task two ended so they've probably posted in most of the new threads already.
Task three is a masterpiece. As far as this prank goes, task three is my sonata. I hope I made it overcomplicated and stressful enough.
That initial burst of activity was hard to keep up with. BJ was wondering WTF I'm sitting here laughing about. Phew.
I'll take care of all reported posts for the next 24 hours, obviously. No worries.
I came up with a new task while I was doing the dishes:
Contestants must collect votes for themselves from other members. The votes must be in the form of a photo of that member holding a sign that says "[username] votes for [contestant]".
You should get 20 points if its Evastio. :cool:
People are too happy with this round. I'm really surprised there's not many complaints about the amount of work, or about the "spamming." Weird.

2) Select one thread you think should be closed. Link to it and explain in 100 words or less why you think it should be closed. Simple, but they have to think really hard. Actually, it should be harder.

Frontsite related task: Submit a review of an FF game or some other form of content for the frontsite. The more you submit, the better your chances of going through!

I'd prefer other things, but a review means that they can at least submit content for a game they've finished that already has a buttload of content. Ideally I'd like stuff we don't already have, but obviously that's getting a bit specific and I don't want people to spoil FFXIII for themselves so I can't demand anything for that, either.
I could give them an either/or. List things we need for FFXIII and I'll make them an option.
DataLogs is a good place to start, I reckon. There's a lot to be done, but it's easy work. Really, they should be able to read the FFXIII site project threads and figure things out easily enough. No need for specifics as I'm open to ideas.
