I remember you guys basically dragging me in there because it was the only effective way to keep in touch with some of you at the time. :mad2:
EDIT: Also, tell HPPH to register, Raf. :D

Holy cheesecake, this thread is nostalgia galore! Great stuff.
I haven't posted much here in the past couple of years - especially in the last year. I've been really busy with university studying English, and now Art and Visual Culture. Just did my BA in Literature about Gothic Postcolonialism and Otherness this winter
I saw Neel online earlier but he hasn't posted :( Now he was one suave guy.
make rubahlapah post regularly pls
and i guess kishi too
This thread has epic written all over it. Reminds me of the Kick the Baby days on FFL.
So I read all 100 million posts here. I'm a bit disappointed the OP hasn't been discussed more:It might not be the right place, but smurf it I'm doing this.Quote:

Those few that aren't (thanks Azar, sorry we haven't met up again, what the hell I can't even tag him?) are from people I have met in person or like BatChao, people I wish I had met in person, and frankly, I enjoy that mode of socialization a lot more. (It's healthier too!)
I spend enough time looking at a screen at work, and I don't use computers at home (only a phone, which is bad enough really). Having a better mobile forum interface would probably entice me to post more, because there is probably less garbage to sift through here than on my facebook or twitter feed. But that's a lot of "probably" to change now-ingrained habits.
So I am currently in Berkeley, CA; I'll be here for at least two more years. Married, MSEE, self-employed. I visit the LA area relatively frequently. I've met Kishi and Allie and Jeremy and Lamonda. And John Meneses! I don't even remember their usernames, except Kishi obviously, whose name I will not reveal. Funny story, that one.
I've met so many more people traveling through the States and in New Zealand (I still have a photo with Kelly and Evan and Nicky. And Big D! He is BIG in person.) I talk to Lynx and Clarissa and Marick regularly on Facebook. If you're around, find me on the Internet (Google "neelfirst") and let's meet up for your beverage of choice. On me.
To those of my friends much further away - I sincerely apologize for not being in touch. It makes me sad that we cannot easily meet in person. Again my Internet handle these days is "neelfirst" - let's stay in touch on more modern platforms. If you are visiting the SF Bay Area, let's meet up. If you need a place to stay, my home is open to you. Except Roogle. I don't trust that guy.
Finally, I'm glad to hear EoFF has turned around. I was allotting part of my savings fund to buying out the site should it have tanked. Despite not giving a trout about Square Enix anymore, I think the front site has markedly improved, your corporate relations are nice and cozy - overall it makes me happy to know this place will be around.
It's been nice to see familiar usernames with words next to them. (I wish most of you had written more! It's not so hard...) But what I have enjoyed most about this thread is experiencing once again the great Daniel Towns and his relentless energy and love of people. It takes a great person to pull together so many from across the world, even for something so simple as this. I am truly happy a person like you exists. God bless you, sir.
Warmly,
Neel
Heeey, even though I never really posted here in the first place, there are actually a few people I recognize! Mostly from IRC, tGA (which, by the way, is still somewhat alive if anyone misses RPing! *cough*), or even...LiveJournal! I do miss #eoff sometimes. ;[
Happy now, DannyBoB? ;)
Awww, and here I was thinking the mobile style wasn't too shabby these days. :(
[img]http://home.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/heart.gif[/img] you Neel you lovely man.
EDIT: And yes, Nic, I am happy now. :D Just chat more, too. ;D
Hmm, a generic e-mail sent me here! Appreciate it, though - it's good to see the names of people posting in this thread.
Things have changed. I'm pretty sure I didn't have a kind of career and grey hairs when I started posting here. I still wonder what I'll be when I grow up.
While generic, Burt, I assure you that I hand-picked the names that got sent to. I do know a fair few names, but yeah. :D Sadly I got something like 20 bounced emails while attempting to bug people that way. :(
Anyways, good to see you, man :)
On a sidenote, you should all hop into #eoff. Resha in particular, because Demon Dude (Jake) wants to say hi to you.
Oh, you know me.
Keeping busy.
Holy trout. So many awesome people. Hi :monster:
oh my shiva
This thread is a mess!
Your avatar is tidying it up?
I remember when I wanted to make a RPG using RPGM2K that I was really annoyed at how I couldn't make all of Kishi's speech images instead of text.
EDIT: Okay, I have to snooze and then I have overtime tomorrow so I won't be back for a while, but if people want to leave requests of people to track down, throw them into this thread and I'll hopefully get to them when I'm on next... those that I'm able to contact, anyway. And Cid, I hope you got to read this far and I hope you remember a bunch of these people, as I know there are more coming that you DEFINITELY will remember. :D
These days I primarily use forums as a source of information rather than a source of interaction, for news and to keep a pulse on certain communities. A few months back I was working on a story I hope to eventually finish about the era of Bulletin Board Systems (something I'm too young to have experienced at the proper time) and how they were an early and powerful form of communication 25 years ago. More specifically, they provided an outlet to the nerds and weirdos and awkward teenagers who had trouble fitting in at school--it was the first time those people could reach outside their own neighborhoods and from relationships with other people like them.
Eyes on Final Fantasy was certainly that for me, to some extent, but I think the need for those sorts of outlets lessens with each passing year. The social stigma around video games and comic books and the rest is shrinking, and it's just so easy to interact with people through so many channels that it's easier than ever to surround yourself with like-minded people. The Internet is a wonderful thing, in that regard.
I think other social media outlets do make forums a bit obsolete, but the sad part about services like Twitter (which I do enjoy using) and even big discussion forums to some extent, is that they encourage instant communication, instant response, instant gratification, and less thought than other forms of discussion. Hell, even on a BBS you were limited by how damn slow your phone line was.
Anyway, personally, I feel like I don't need to use the Internet to seek out new relationships as much as I once did. And it feels like the more social networks there are available, the less we use any one of them to talk at length. I stick to IMing my closest friends for the most part.
I hope Kishi and Allie make their way up to San Francisco sometime. This is where all the cool video game stuff be at, anyway. And let's hang out soon, Neel--hit me up with your phone number on Twitter or something. Great weather this weekend.
I registered nearly 12 years ago... Huh.
ADAM
I would feel bad if I didn't post here like all the other former staff are. :shobon:
I suppose my relationship could be attributed to EoFF also, in a weird way. Changed servers in WoW to play with some EoFF people (Bleys, DocFrance, Jowy, can't even remember other usernames at this point ;[) and ended up meeting my boyfriend of now three+ years there.
Realistically, I probably won't stick around the forums...but popping into #eoff every now and then sounds nice. :) I think I took you and a few others off Facebook since I hadn't interacted with you guys in a looooong time, but feel free to add me (/nixnic) again if you want!
Keep on forgetting to say this, but damn I keep getting hit by nostalgia the more I read this thread.
I only recognize half of these people cause I was a wee noob when most were active/leaving/gone.
Welcome back people! I hope some of you stay. Please?
You have good memory. We've divorced since, however.
So maybe that makes us the only EoFF divorced couple? /special

wow this thread is long.
howdy.
53 gil! making it rain up in here.
BoB told me to come back and post.
I'm doing pretty well! I've been working for the past year as a copywriter in a marketing firm. This is good, because my capacity to post 20+ times a day on Livejournal has been positively channeled in a profitable career. ;]
I dabble in a bit of SEO as well. I'm moving into Brooklyn next week with my boyfriend. Reppin' the East Coast as usual. I still sew side-hustle, but not as much as I used to.
Ummm... that's it! I'm active on Facebook. I'd like to be more active on the forums, but in the words of Sweet Brown, "ain't nobody got time for that!"
EoFF related, I hang out with Zach/Ouch! once in a while. We're going to be neighbors soon! I'll also be close to elsie!
How is everyone else?
EDIT: horry trout, mikztsu
I'm sad because I know you'll probably never read this and even if you do you'll only stick around for a day or two before leaving again for months :(
Jess I will send you lice-infested hats if you don't start posting regularly again and in your small font :colbert:
So many people are having babies! Wow!
I knew she wouldn't read it
Wait, wait. I'm told people are here. What is even happening!?
Edit: Huge irony, today marks 12 years since I joined here.
Why is this thread not stickied already?
So active it doesn't need a sticky, pr00t!
What is this, an EoFF oldbie regrouping thread. I approve.
Also, I'm assuming there is a chatroom party at this present moment, if not, there should be.
I don't get the horry trout thing. But hi Rye! :)
More and more familair faces popping here as night shift nears to an end. 'kishi as well. Hi 2 u all again, hope things are well. :)
@ Calliope - would love a copy of that amazingly weird "all hail Bruckner" mp3 thing. Unfortunately there is another MP3 where I'm involved...anyone remember Cackstreet boyz? :( I fear someone still has copy of that.
I have both Hail Bruckner and the Cackstreet Boys on CD somewhere. :cat:
wasn't strider married to someone from here?
FEH the last time I tried to get you to post here for RSL Day you said you'd never come back :( :( :(
Is that the anime or the novel
:* :* :* :aimkiss:
I don't check my facebook at work, so this ended up being the other way around.
:breine:
no, but I'll get on #eoff for YOU
I don't remember this anecdote; tell me in fat chocobo
it's incredibly hard to get out of LA; you just keep sliding back down toward the ocean. some day I will not be chronically exhausted and can drive for 6 hours though
hi
no wai. I think you'd like both the animu and novel though.
Here you go! :D
Yes :D
Allie told me to come post here.
I'm... uh. Well, I'm in my final semester of college. Still stuck in Indiana, though hopefully not for much longer.
hi

HI GUYS!
Don't worry Momiji! We will forever remember your teenage emo poems as Poetically Pathetic ^_^
Sweet Jesus. The return of EVERYONE. I didn't read everything, as I'm currently in a heated love-death battle with my lady friend. It's nice to see those who deserve to be doing well; doing well.
Once I finish up with everything I got going on tonight, I'll send up some updates to myself if parties are interested.
WTF is Gil used for?
Purchasing souls.
I'm selling my soul for 10,000 gil or to the highest bidder.
Triple Triad :D
Oh hey do you guys remember when this happened: http://puu.sh/2evFl
Because I sure do~
wait they allowed that and people these days are complaining about my signature
hypocrites
I am pretty sure it was from back when Tavrobel and I were trying to get the staff to bump up avatar size limits from 60x60 to 80x80.
I think. It has been many, many years. :(
who complains about your signature! I love it.
Ten thousand souls was the opening bid,
And it soon went up to fifty-nine,
But the Lord didn't see what the Devil did,
And he said "that suits me fine",
"I'll raise you high to a hundred and five,
And forever put an end to your sins",
But the Devil let out a mighty shout, "My hand wins!!"
Yay it's Momiji!
Wtf are all these people?
the ones I remember are giving Evastio a huge avatar of itadaki street special Tifa (which he was ungrateful for!) and using Jessweeeee:note:'s weird devil magic avatar to figure out how to get VB to let you upload infinitely large avatars (so long as they didn't go over the byte limit ;D)
and also Friends Standing Together
i'm glad you came back to pound eee oh eff eff allison
Ramza, think you can find Skanker for us? :D
How is it possible, to gather so many sillies in one topic?
Do you have a "silliest member" Ciddie yet?
Edit: 'cause I could name a pretty few candidates. :greenie:
So hey. Azar was all like "hey look at this" and I was like "alright". Hey everyone. This thread is crazy. Everyone's married and has babies! Being in your late 20s is weird.
As for me, I was in college and I was gonna be a journalist, and then I had a mini existential crisis and realized that I didn't want to do that. So I graduated with a degree in poly sci, but I kind of didn't know what I wanted to do? So I just kinda worked some random job and then Life Happened™ and there was a bunch of family drama etc. LONG story short, I've sorted it all out and am now studying to be a nurse. It's a little weird being back in school in your late 20s, but whatever. Better to grow up late than never, I suppose. I'm still super handsome; probably moreso than ever. Not much going on in the way of significant others and I don't want kids, so there's that. Things are good, but there's not much to say I guess.
Fun Fact: I'm on another forum now that Kishi also frequents, and it took me about 3 or 4 years to realize that that Kishi was the same Kishi. And then somehow I didn't realize that rubah was on the board too until, like, a year ago. Even though that person and Kishi had mentioned a bunch of times that they were together and that should've tipped me off. Alixsar: He's Super Observant™
Also, Evan/Kelly: Congratulations!
P.S. Alex is a great name for a boy. Just sayin'.
I did, that nurse thing and never looked back. :) During the time my dad was dying, I really started respect each and everyone of them and wanted to be one. Could say it was calling I guess. :)
I really had hard time growing while didn't know what I want to do really. It's big relief to find it.
I know, right?
Alex! Hi buddy.
Yeah, actually! There is a little star near the report button. That's a rep button! We only have positive reps, no negative ones cause we don't want people to be jerks. But you can write a message to them too like "oh that made me laugh" or "I like potatoes" and they'll see it.
If a post gets enough reps it can have a limit break! Look at us and our fancy trinkets while you've been gone.
We have the reputation button for that. :p
Edit: Hi Freya and Denmark. :p
Did you know Cid, that we share Birthdays? My EoFF birthday Celebrations have always been over shadowed by you unfortunately :(
Does the receiver know for which post they received a rep point from? And who sent it? And can the whole community see it if a certain post earned, say 5 positive reps? Can everyone see it?
It's way to late for me to be asking these questions. Love you EoFF. Goodnight!
Yes and yes. The community can see the bars on your user profile above your profile pic, but not the actual amount of points or what rep comments you have received.
Goodnight, Cid! Be sure to return tomorrow! Don't leave us forever so soon :(
edit: first person to rep cid
get on it folks
the rep earned is public
the rep comment is private (known to the giver and the recipient)
who gave the rep is private
see how some posts have a "Limit" thing in the corner? that's an indication of howmuch rep the post has earned (i'm assuming you're using eoff classic or some similar theme)
gosh dang it sniped again smurf this i'm double posting out of ANGER
Heh. Thanks for the information. I'll be back. I saw some interesting posts on the previous pages but it's past 1am and I'm an adult now.

(I had to)
i'm refreshing until you fix that attachment
what the smurf
how did that happen
when you reply there's a "go advanced" or "preview post" button that you can use to make sure your post is the way you want it to be
I KNOW HOW TO UTILIZE THE PREVIEWS
I hit the insert image button and did it right!
Alixsar!
Yay you're here, and we will consider the name Alex :)
What?

It's usually because BoB motivated us to post (read: bribed us with the prospect of entering a contest). It's all BoB's fault, it always is.
True that MV. BoB just keeps harassing us 'till he gets what he wants. So I came here to post, figuring he will leave me alone for the next 6 months or-so about it. :greenie: No really, is kind of funny and weird to imagine you all now grown up and stuff.
And MattyPattyWatty has a kid!
*shakes out the cobwebs*
Psy, lovey, can I borrow your maid costume? I need to do some serious dusting around here. ;)
I'd love to participate in this thread and pay you old farts your respectives dues, but I just don't have the energy to read seven pages. :(
Nice seeing Momiji again, though. :)
*refuses to leave this thread until Citizen Bleys brings Tosh onto the scene*
Don't kick the baby.
Whoops I'm too late to say hi to the people I missed.
Most likely, yes. It is indeed far too late.
Since BoB is pestering:
:p
Oooo it's like one of those reunion shows.
Add me to the list of people who can't resist the call of a big yellow chocobo. Good to see so many old names, and glad to see the place is still going strong. Things have changed a lot - when the hell did Tetra Master get added?!
Have you gotten over Paul Anderson yet? :p
AHHHH CZ!
Again, popping in here to say how it is awesome to see so many familiar faces!
Quoting on this forum is mad broken. I can't quote Alixsar. Someone should be ashamed! Anyway, Alex, glad you got a kick out of the thread. We should hang again sometime if you still come into SF. As I recall, you were kinda far out.
I'm glad the wiki is still around, though it was cooler when it was old and ugly and white on black.
I miss Spatvark.
Yeah we want to revamp our wiki but we haven't gotten around to it.
Also there are two quote buttons. There is the Reply with quote and the multi quote button. The multi-quote button allows you to select several posts before replying.
Towns, you're not even doing your job; this thread needs more Cody, Simon, Knox and Robbie.
Ah, Cz is here. Ah, ah, ah!
Shouldn't family reunions be more hateful after a few hours?
You can't hate nostalgia.
It's another day in paradise.
THIS JUST IN
LONNY BOB IS GIVING AWAY A BRAND NEW CAR TO WHICHEVER RETURNING OLDBIE STICKS AROUND THE LONGEST
fix'd that for you. :) Entertain me...or die. Speaking of dying, has anyone here seen movie called Deadly Prey ( 1988)? Most hilarious unintentional humour there. And it's on youtube!
They trying to do Rambo clone. enjoy:

edit: what the hell? Not gonna even bother. :D
RSL posted in this thread. That's all that matters.
ARSE-L.
All that matters, is the beard still there.
What counts as sticking around? I doubt I'll be posting much, but I'm going to be playing Triple Triad for at least the next three months.
I stay if others stay. :greenie:
Knox, C2K, Wyllius...always great banter at #EoFF. And some crazy ideas.
Hey guys wanted to pop in and say I love you. Just took my laptop to mcdonald's to do my tax return and I'm hoping to get a quick post out before my battery dies. I lurk around on my phone from time to time but it doesn't let me write posts! Anyway as you may have guessed my neighbors finally protected their wifi after seven something years but one day I will be able to afford my very own internet and I am going to post so hard you guys you don't even know.
Cacky's email bounced. :( The others, well...
bossker's email won't work anymore either, I'm not sure on Grahf. Sita definitely is around and I've nagged her, not sure if she'll post but I live in hope. :D Sadly, Michelle is lost to me at the moment - not even Emma (Wishing Star) knows how to contact her these days and those two kept in touch for years after leaving.
It's called we all get too busy with life. I mean this site has been around for 13-14 years now.
Life is overrated.
This site isn't just a part of life, this site now officially creates life.
That's deep, man
Apparently my presence has been summoned from beyond the ken of time and space.
Or via AIM. You know, dark eldritch means.
Yes, it's true, Raistlin and I got married last June and now he's expecting a gorgeous little baby monkey!
Okay, no. But Bawb is making me post. :p
Still alive and tweeting, facebooking, tumblering :p
BIFF. BAM. BOOM! Three in a row! :D Hello you wonderful people. :D
JOJO! :D :kaoclove:
Also apparently I should point out that I recently got married and STILL somehow managed to beat BoB to the punch. Good job BoB.
Hey baby :-*
Hi to all the other sexy people too. It's so strange, we've all grown up!
I'm chillin' in Seattle, living with my boyfriend, we're renting a house and we have 2 dogs and a cat. I'd been working in the restaurant biz for the past two years mainly, after law school, but I just turned in my 2 weeks' notice yesterday. No more serving jobs! I've also been working on a mortgage biz as a loan officer and that's doing me quite well. And I have my own law office which doesn't really get many clients ;) Oh, yeah, I'm an attorney and I somehow passed the bar in two states so now you know why the country is smurfed.
So do the people who've come back still play Final Fantasy? I know it was never a prerequisite for posting on the forums to begin with, but I was wondering whether people had just got out of the habit of posting or whether they'd moved on from FF (or even gaming) altogether. Maybe you're all too busy with spouses/kids for vidja games these days. :p
For my part, I still like the old FFs, and give my favourites a replay every couple of years or so (IX for life, yo). But I didn't really care for XII, and the dozen or so different versions of XIII just confuse me, so I've kind of fallen out of touch. Interested to hear about other people though.
Hey, Joe. :)
Another EoFF baby? This is becoming beyond awesome.
Actually Daniel the mobile version is not so bad! <3 back to you.
And Paul, you make me blush! Sorry I missed your comment the first time around. :-)
Wes we are meeting tomorrow!
Clout: hi! :cookie:
The rest of you - come get some.
God it's like an old folks home in here.
Wheelchair races!
Dis thread. ~Ma heart~ ;_;
I am just glad to see Resha and Miss Cheese posting again. <3 I wonder if they will ever see this love filled post directed at them. I  you guys.
Hello. I don't even know if many people remember me, but we all have to throw our hat in.
It's so nice and refreshing to see some of these usernames. :) It's like a Mills Day miracle.
Teeeeeek! :D
Excuse me, I meant to say it was ace to be here. (hi, proto. :D)
Teek. We should do this thing annualy, BoB can sort it every year.
wow. Haven't seen alot of people in this thread forever!
They're a series that's definitely near and dear to me. I got XIII at launch, beat it, and now hate it. But the old ones are always in my mind, and I think about/try replaying them pretty regularly though I usually don't get very far. I wonder if this place ties into it too.
Nah I agree. I mean I'm used to it enough that it's not a huge deal, but it is a bit dated-looking at this point. I disabled sigs and avatars to get rid of the clutter but I definitely prefer reddit's conversation style, despite getting tired of the community.
It's sort of weird, when I started on reddit I liked the community at the time more than this so I kinda drifted away. Recently it's been the opposite. I think the shininess of that place has sort of faded as it's gotten more popular. Even though I don't always find the conversation super exciting here, it's far more endearing; this place has heart.
We appreciate our fantasy series...es. Don't hate!
Hey, I remember this place. :)
Hi everybody.
so many awesome people that should never ever leave again. Next someone needs to track down Scrumpleberry.
Hi everyone. Y'all better be glad as BoB literally had to beg and plead for me to come back.
Square Enix is a baffling company these days. This generation they basically doubled down on the worst tropes of Japanese games to serve the shrinking niche audience; XIII's awful story is a testament to that. XII was the end of a great era for them. I think it's a game that will only grow more respected as time goes by. The worldbuilding and localization are phenomenal. That writing, man! So good. (IX still owns my heart too).
Weirdly, their best output this gen has come from Eidos, who they bought a few years back. I hope they put out some great games again in the future, but I think they need some management shakeup to get some new blood in there.
Jojo I hope you are as hyper as ever
To be far, most forum threads have a more focused topic than woo, reunion! You stirred up a bit of excitement.
Aw man I lost my user title star. Now how will people know I was an Eyes on Plays™ participant
FFXIII is my favorite in the series no lie o:
^ and that's why we had to kick Jessweee off staff.
FF XIII has the frocobo at least.
