Balls.
Balls.
I said itd be a waste
So, i apologize for that... But after this weekend there was no way id be able to play mafia.
Entire family sick + arguments and screaming everywhere. Ive been frustrated as hell and i should have stayed as far away from this game as possible due to current circumstances.
Looking back i should have just died silently, maybe that way you guys wouldve instead gone after a bad guy... But alas
Again, im sorry. I expected to be playing this over spring break but not enough people joined. Every week since has been hell so i was doomed from the start.
But wait... I was the nexus? That was surprising. Huh.... Surprises abound
You didn't even read the role PM? What a hero! I love it.
I genuinely believe the best way to play as a Mafia is to not read the role PM. You don't know you're scum, you don't know who your scum mates are, there's no way of giving yourself away through your posts! :D
Trollhunter, by merely existing you killed me. Well done! I have to say, I was annoyed, but oh well. It's what random selection is. I can't complain so much. :p Just annoying that of all the possible targets, it hits a Mafia. Gah.
This now makes the game very interesting. I'm looking forward to everyone's reactions once day breaks.
It'll be hilarious because they'll all be blaming each other. And no-one's off the hook, because damn near everyone voted for you. :p Can't wait.
Ehhh... not really. As silly a lynch as it was, well, what choice do you have when someone starts claiming to be a magic genie godfather? The situation just becomes untenable. That's not to say there won't be squabbles, but I don't think it'll be over Daniel Craig - precisely because everyone damn near did it.
Agreed, i was literally calling everyone out and practically begging for it. It was an obvious lynch for everyone involved. It was sadly a waste of a day, but whatever. Im just flattered that people thought i was the godfather of all things.
Let's stop talking about information specific to your role until the game is over. Thanks.
Damn, this sucks. I was hoping the Nexus would stay in the game. Good job Troll Hunter!
What the heck. Why are they going down this meta-gaming road?
Stahp.
Goldenboko for most likely to buy a fake ass role claim.
Ugh it sucks being dead.
Why did I have to go off and kill myself?
...I never thought I would have to ask that question
Most likely to be lynched for being right on my first investigation moar liek.
And who the hell lynches people for being annoying? This isn't Mafia I. Wait that gives me an idea...brb planning new Mafia.
I don't think it was for being annoying Mrs. Shiny ;)
Jesus Laddy, this trout has to stop. If townies can't trust their own roles what can they trust? :colbert:
Well, Ford was telling the truth, mostly. Well played there! Oh wait, who played Ford?
Wait, what? What did I do?
Unless I've turned blind, I don't think you told us who played Harrison Ford.
That was epic.
Everything happened appropriately. Teddy Roosevelt has not erred. I am with God now.
[M] Harrison Ford was played by Han Solo, or as close to him as Eyes on Final Fantasy has ever seen. That will suffice until the end.
That was quite the ending. Very entertaining.
Good show, good show.
Something's fishy here.
Now now guys, go to sleep. I know I can't really talk much about this, given my previous insomnia, but go to bed.
Or at the very least, go to bed, and read a book.
Oh, I just smurfing figured out what's going on here. Action hero? More like super hero! :penciltrick:
Harrison Ford's fate deciding Vin Diesel's indeed! You utter swine! And look at them, the sheep, they're loving it. "So this is how liberty dies, to thunderous applause."
Oh my jesus
If thats really the case psy... What a genius play
Amazing, simply amazing
That's Shiny to you. Ms. Shiny if you're nasty. And you're right, it was for seeing how blatantly b.s. Del's role claim was, yet everyone else except Sam being oblivious to it. How could I forget. D:
Why do you guys keep lynching non-fishy people? Ford? Eastwood? C'mon.
EDIT: Okay well Ford was a bit fishy. Han Solo eh
This game is going to go down to the wire...isn't it :/
Laddy: "You've made your last lynch, kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene. From where you're kneeling it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck. But, truth is...the game was rigged from the start."
(he'll enjoy that reference)
Who among us can fight gravity? I will feel no shame in defeat, only that I did not open my eyes until today.
So who was Harrison Ford?
Maybe Harrison Ford wasn't actually a person, maybe Harrison Ford was a symbol. Maybe Harrison Ford represents everything that's right/wrong* with Mafia games today.
*depends on your point of view.
I'd do Harrison Ford.
I miss normal mafia.
DEATH!
(think RotK)
But rises again harder and stronger?
The Bomb Roleclaim of Demon Dude shall sound in the game thread.... ONE LAST TIME.
Let this be the hour in which we lynch that jerk together.
And I stress jerk, not scum. It's not Town vs Mafia anymore. It still is for the sheep, of course. You and I, we know nothing is true, everything is permitted. You make your own rules.
The shock that I am still alive by this point is unparalleled. I have just been yelling at you people for the lols. :spin: I think I know exactly how this game must end now though. The chosen one must die!
Exactly. We're sending a message to Laddy, to him, to all future hosts what we will and won't tolerate in our mafia games.
Indeed. Together we shall send a reckoning like none have seen!
Eh?
I feel like I'm partially to blame for the start of the insanity of EoFF mafia. Half because of hosting those two games with Psy where we used everyone as our guinea pigs to see how many wacky roles we could throw in, and half for writing that line stating that made dd's bomb claim legendary. :shobon:
EoFF mafia needs to have more scramblers appear. That role is one of my favorites.
I like how Psy repped in just to get me lynched and then pretty much didn't care after that.
I hope the right choice is made today. That's all I will say on the matter.
Pretty much. :shobon: I told you it wasn't a ruse and I really did replace in!
I have been the victim of FOUL PLAY!
Congratulations on screwing the town out of its primary forms of night protection. If Bruce Willis doesn't activate his power tonight, you're in for a rough ride. I am the true champion, playing both Samuel L Jackson the loud and brash, and Harrison Ford the stoic and holy. That's all from me, though; your idiocy today demands my silence on thought and approach. Until next time, adieu.
I took control of Harrison Ford because I was certain Samuel L Jackson was being lynched. Simple. We couldn't remove it after it had been added.
PS: Your* :aimkiss: You really ought to have mastered that by now. Stealth is also not your strong suit, but being a big chicken does not lend itself to that trait.
I went to bed - at 7am - thinking Samuel L Jackson was going to be lynched. I informed our host and he deemed to give me an account. smurf you and your self-righteousness, too; you're the one who shot at me because you were annoyed. Did tidusluvr teach you nothing? Both accounts received commendations from other players during the game so I don't care what y'all think, I met my win conditions and now the town will rot. :)
I never said Laddy's hands are clean! The cleansing wave of self-righteousness will be so absolute there shall be none who do not bask in its glory! It has always been wankershim!
Going out with class. :whimper:
And still no one knows.
This is just bananas.
On the contrary, you are a disgrace.
See, I was right about Harrison Ford. His claim stunk to high hell. 3 Vanilla and a Priest? Get out of here. If you'd told the truth and said Vanilla, well, I wouldn't have taken that any further. He lied, and I knew it. The mistake I made was thinking people were playing fairly. That a member of the town would not lie.
Why lie? Four little words. You set a trap for me. You and everyone else knew I wasn't scummy. But they all hated my meta-gaming and brashness and you took advantage of that, deliberately setting a trap and lying that he was a Priest. You knew I'd see what a ridiculous claim that was and pursue it to the very end.
Utterly without honour. Shame on you. This is absolutely vile work.
Town vs Mafia?
No.
Good vs Evil. And you're evil.
You got what you deserved. Or rather,
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
You can call me great vengeance, and I think you know my sister, Uma "Greater Vengeance" Thurman, and "Kick a Dead Horse" Stallone, he saw the vengeance with his eyes, and he will remember it for later generations.
And you know who "furious anger" is right?
Pray do tell.
I wasn't asking you. You know everything already. That just spoils the fun.
WELL OKAY :(
Also, Laddy, as you've used this thing before in World Leader Mafia I assume you are complicit in this, I think I speak on behalf of most mafia players when I say to you and all future hosts that giving someone two accounts is not a good thing at all. Mindsmurfing people is one thing, but the advantage this leads to is not remotely fair or something that can be balanced, and I hope not to see it used again. Have a double vote townie if you really must!
It was an interesting idea and I'm not seeking to criticise, just to give some honest feedback to you and advice for future hosts.
Agreed. Though anything can be overcome. There are other ways to challenge, and other ways to enable players' obsession or disappointment. I think the mafia did a marvelous job coming back despite all.
I would love to see more of the people having roles they dont know about though. Thats always really fun ^^
Once Sam wasn't lynched, Ford should have been modkilled. It was all for naught anyway, though.
You know, regardless of who wins this was a great game. Lots of twists and turns and some very good players.
I wish i had a more manly death in this game... But alas, life happens.
This was very enjoyable and i hope to play another game of mafia at a time when i really have time to. I wont be so green next time.
No, you're right, was a bad idea. In fact, this game was really, really poorly planned as it was intended as a relatively normal game and then all the bad planning and coincidences and trout made it come off as I was mindsmurfing everyone when I was in fact just trying to use my full set-up (hence all the additions). So yeah, turned out entertaining but was very poorly planned.
All flaming, insults, and swearing should be directed to my main account. :)
Let's forget all that and just bask in the glory of the rookie, kay guys? kay?
:smug:
I think playing on Sam's own insecurities to get him to vote himself on the last day was pretty brilliant tbh. Great job chionos, you won the game!
Nah, it was def. a team effort. Starting day one when you scared the crap out of me by getting me "lynched" immediately, knowing that there probably wouldn't be an actual lynch, and leading to my two votes day one which helped me look squeaky clean. Not to mention sacking Statham.
Formy, taking one for the team. Sucks so bad that happened. XD
Stupid Nexus!
Chinos played beautifully. The end was just so intense, and you had convinced so many of us that you were town.
Congratulations you magnificent bastard :D
Congrats to chionos for winning. Shame I couldn't get you lynched when I was an usurper. :P
That sounds like a tough role, Usurper. In this situation it would have been very nearly impossible to get me killed and stay alive yourself. Thanks for not throwing me under the bus though. =) I thought that's maybe what you were, but I just hoped that, because our situation was so tight, you wouldn't get a chance to pull anything off.
I can't believe the town thought the mafia was so stupid they'd target the nexus twice. Muahahaha. Never even considered a death miller.
I think the town in general underestimated the power of the Mafia. You can't really blame them, with just two mafia left at day 4, to them it would have been a breeze. And then when Nicolas Cage flipped "scum", perfect!
Of course, he's a death miller, and I'm surprised they didn't think of it.
His death sealed it for mafia. :D
I don't know about sealing it. If they'd gotten us down to one, they'd have had it covered from there because of Willis. But that did finally put things in our favor.
I mentioned a death miller in my post about Willis which is when Uma jumped all over me, albeit briefly. But it was off-handed and in reference to Johnson ^_^
Gotta work that subconscious man. Everybody dismissed death miller as a possibility because I connected the idea of it with a theory that Willis was scummy, whereas he was clearly a confirmed town. (or that was my plan anyway)
Was a good experience overall. But I think next time I just want to be a townie, vanilla at that.
I wouldn't mind being Mafia again. It's quite fun having your own forum to spout nonsense in, and you get a sense of camaraderie as well.
But please, can I not be the Prostitute again! Both Mafia games, I've been a roleblocker. Gimme something else next time! :p
Most amusing all :) Sorry to let the town down, but sacrifices had to be made for revenge.
Well that was an entertaining end to the game. Sorry for being a no-show today, I was out all day and by the time I got back the game was already over. Well, I pretty much no showed the last few days because I made my mind up on day one that I wanted to kill Shiny regardless of what her role was :aimkiss: I actually had no idea if she was a cop or mafia at first and by the end of the day she got lynched was pretty certain she was telling the truth but that was besides the point, I just wanted to kill her. After that I pretty much felt like I said in the thread, Job done for me so I kind of slacked off for the rest of the game. I was kind of amused by people trying to make up strategies based on my role though, when I never fully explained what it did or what the limitations were of it. xD Especially for example, when I went off on one about Statham being innocent because I had him locked up and there was no way he could have know he was being roleblocked, he absolutely could have known because he wasn't able to use the mafia forum that night (at least that's what I was told in the role PM, haven't looked in the mafia forum yet) but revealing that would have ruined the kill Shiny plan so :shobon: but yeah I had fun at least.
I'll be honest, after I got my golden speed lynch vote on Del, I was focused too much on hurling abuse at Jiro and Goldenboko to pay any mind to the mafia. :shobon: It's a golden rule of mafia, if you accuse me of trout, I will come after you and pound you into the dirt. I enjoy defending myself more than finding scum these days. Coming in and swaggering and annoying people always gets a good response. It's not a good tactic for mafia or town to bother me, regardless of my alignment, because I will just scream gibberish at you until you get bored and go away. :D
As far as the mafia goes, though, nope, I did not have any smurfing idea Arnie was mafia until I was a corpse. Fair play to that man. I did pick up on Stallone's unhappiness at my meta-gaming as him possibly being the one I wanted, but the Priest claim was definitely the worst and why I focused on that.
Death Miller is a huge dick role that I got a lot of hate for for using in a game I ran, so I kind of assumed it would never be an option. I think the set up gave the mafia a huge amount of power and it was very much levelled in their favour. Four Mafia, Psychopath and Death Miller in a game that small isn't going to end well. That's not to say they don't deserve a victory and the town lost because of how awful it was, of course. Set up or no set up, as I say, chionos had me fooled.
Well, Bruce's role was pretty godly, and if he used it more often, the town would have had a fighting chance. Until I saw the Death Miller I was pretty convinced this was a no-win setup for mafia. Death Miller is one of the most overpowered mafia roles, though.
To be honest, as powerful as my role was it had limitations, the other thing that people kept assuming was that I could use it whenever I wanted on whoever, but I actually could only use it on someone once and then never again. So I couldn't have used it on Sam Jackson again after day one for example. I was mainly thinking to use it to try and roleblock mafia members but that kind of got shot because I didn't really have a read on who any of them were because I wasn't paying attention and I'd also fallen for the whole "there surely can only be one left" line of thinking. And I wouldn't have picked Arnie as being that one guy that's for sure.
Also not helping was that my crazy time zone meant the time I was awake and about was pretty much when the rest of the world was asleep and bed time for me was when ya'll were just starting to get active
Yeah I got hammered by timezones as well. The day begins at 5 AM for me and I don't get home from work 'til 6 PM so it was difficult to do much. Accessing it from work was a bitch, by the way, because of all your bloody memes! :argh: I use simplified at work so from a distance it doesn't look like I'm yelling at people on the internet for accusing me of being mafia, but when a giant picture of Samuel L Jackson is on my screen things are a bit more difficult to pass off.
I can't tell if that's a compliment or an insult. But I'll take it either way.
I'll have you know, your role, and our ignorance of it, was a huge huge pain in my ass. =) Spent half the game just trying to figure out if it was being used, and if it was, on whom. Had to assume it was being used, so it was just a big waste of time. Thanks :p
So the challenge for next mafia is:
1. Figure out who Psycho's playing. (Psst. It's easy. Nobody says god damn like Psychotic. Nobody.)
2. Challenge his role every single day.
3. Survive the onslaught
4. Wipe that trout-eatin' grin off your face, soldier, this is serious business.
Yes I read the mafia forum just and was quite amused at how much time you spent trying to work out what was being done with it. Also yeah it was a compliment I guess, if I was pushed to choose who I thought the last mafia was I would have said Uma or even Sam before Arnie. although yeah pretty much didn't really care either way, Shiny died so I'm happy :flirt:
Me too. :monster:
So the challenge for next mafia is:
1. Figure out what Psychotic's new gimmick is.
2. Keep Psychotic from being able to play his gimmick.
3. Keep that trout-eatin' grin because winning's for rookies.
Alt:
1. Figure out Psychotic's gimmick
2. Out-gimmick Psychotic at his own game.
3. Ride wave of power and respect to the top.
You say that, but for much of the game, the Mafia was on the backfoot. You have to remember the following sequence of events:
Day 0 - Oh no Arnold got lynched? Oh wait, no, he hasn't. Still, oh crap the target's on him!
Day 1 - The Psychopath is dead, which is good, but then that limits how many townies can be killed every night
Night 1 - Damn, nothing happened. Oh well...
Day 2 - Oh crap, Statham's being targeted!
Night 2 - Well, at least we killed Jet Li...
Day 3 - Statham's still targeted, but yes we killed the cop!
Night 3 - Oh crap, Dwayne got nexus killed... down to three!
Day 4 - Whelp, Statham is dead. Down to just two!
At the end of Day 4, Mafia morale was at an all time low. if you look at the Mafia thread "Uh-oh, this is bad" morale was very low, and the admin himself said "I know it's been an uphill battle so I understand if things seem unfair". Even though on paper, we had a strong hand, things spiralled downhill at around Day Two onwards, peaking at mine and Jason's deaths.
It was really only the death of Nicolas Cage (death Miller) when feelings got more hopeful and positive. From that point onwards, the Mafia had more of a grip on the game and thanks to Chionos's gambit and astounding come-back from Day 0, we clinched the win.
It was a hard fought win, no matter how technically superior a stance we had. I think Laddy imagined the Psychopath living longer to cull some more town for us. Alas, that didn't happen :p
Disagree with you there Formal, the Cop got taken out after one investigation by the town itself and the bulletproof townie also went out pretty early on.
I think us Mafia got into a tizz after mine and Del Murder's death. From a Mafia perspective, sure, the cop and bulletproof is dead, but we still had to contend with:
- Some Game Show Host
- Whatever killed me
- Samuel's role of Doctor
That's a powerful set of roles, compared to a humble Godfather and Goon/Usurper. While the Town got a bad hand in the deaths of them two, us Mafia were quite low for a while. It took alot for them to get belief back and win the game.
Seems like you guys got everything figured out. I must say, I was giggling manically upon some of the actions, especially shooting the Nexus. :monster:
Yeah, Weaver got herself killed, that wasn't even us. Well, we were in on it, but it would have happened regardless. Well wasn't the bulletproof Neeson, the one Weaver took out when there was a tie between the two of them? Yeah, that wasn't us either, that was a combo of Willis and Weaver.
I think our biggest obstacle really was me and my ignorance. I think someone like Del in my position would have had a much cleaner endgame, despite what he says about his bad play toward the beginning of the game.
The game was truly a constant bouncing back and forth between hope and despair. I'd make a chart to show what it was like, it's all nice and pretty in my head, but I'm too sleepy to mess with it.
Edit: I bet you were Laddy, you fiend.
At first I was properly confused when you came in right at the start going on about inactive this and that but then all of a sudden I twigged it must be you and then I had to get you killed no matter what the cost to the town. I think the best way I can describe it is the way I described it to Pauw on MSN before he joined the game, he said to me like "Oh I think sigourney is telling the truth about being the cop" or something like that but the way I was looking at it was the same way I looked at games of Halo when the EoFF crew used to play. Imagine that the town are team EoFF (Me, Pauw, Huxley and Steve) and the mafia are the enemy team. Even though the goal of the game is to kill the enemy dead, if I think it will be more fun I will go out of my way just to annoy Steve by betraying him. And that's what I did. :aimkiss:
Two ideas for a mafia game I want to see:
NO SECRETS! Mafia. At the start, a full list of every single role in the game is posted. None of this mindsmurf business. There's six vanilla town, a cop, a naive cop etc. Of course, I think you'd have to give the mafia a little bit more power than usual to balance it out. I think you'd also need to balance them off against town roles. ie a Roleblocker and a Prostitute, a Mafia Cop and Town Cop etc to help claims.
A LOT OF SECRETS! Mafia. No roles or even alignments are revealed when people die. :) Town would need more power there. Maybe every 2-3 days or so the host can say "And 1 mafia died in this period" or something.
This was actually the most fun I've had in Mafia since Mafia I. I didn't enjoy any of the games where I was Mafia and I got night killed Day 1 in the other one when I was Town.
My only regret is not surviving Day 4 so I can say I got guilty for Goldenboko and get him lynched. :shiny:
Yeah I knew it was you Dan Kyono, and made it my point to bring you up in every other post to be a tit. I had no idea who chionis and Shauna was playing, so I guess that's a good thing. Everyone else I figured out if not Day 1, then by Day 3.
Nexus still remains the trollish role ever.
My game will be pretty much like the first one you mentioned, Psy. I won't say all the roles in play, but I will state several roles not in play.
To be honest I'm geniunely surprised if there's anyone who doesn't know who I am immediately upon starting mafia games because I am basically the same annoying tit every time I play anyway.
I hope the next game comes up pretty soon, I actually quite enjoyed this and would suck to wait months for the next one.
Alignments at least would need to be said if roles aren't going to be revealed.Quote:
A LOT OF SECRETS! Mafia. No roles or even alignments are revealed when people die. Town would need more power there. Maybe every 2-3 days or so the host can say "And 1 mafia died in this period" or something.
Nice game, guys. Congrats to the mafia, for pulling the wool over the eyes of the town - especially chionios, like many others, I honestly didn't believe that you were mafia. Well played.
I had fun for the short amount of time I was playing, sad that I got kicked out so early. Might have to partner up for the next one, I only have so many hours in the day! xD But, it was great to follow it after I was out - lots of unexpected surprises.
Thanks for setting this up, Laddy. :3
I'd actually love to the nexus. It would be great drawing attention to yourself during the day so that the Mafia target you during the night. Even if it ends up hurting the town, I'd be in stitches nonetheless!
Of course, assuming you're told you are a nexus.
