Sherry and MILLIE! Millie was one of my favorite characters to voice from Suikoden 2. The chick with the crush on Flint that you meet in the school was more fun, though. But Millie came close.

About a day left if anyone else wants to vote!
Daisy and Sierra.
Okay next round starts now, but there's still a good amount of time left in the last round since I'll probably be closing it late.

Note that only the first part of the story has been released, so their characters might change drastically (and indeed, one of them appeared to at the end of the first part). I'm going off of what has been told so far.
Rune is a mysterious girl met by our heroines (Selphine and Ritona) when they are teleported somewhere mysterious. She calls herself Rune and seems as friendly as can be, although she's obviously hiding a few things. Soon we learn that Rune also goes by Sara, and that there was a little girl named Rune in the town who was known as a devil spawn for all of the horrible things she'd done before she died. The story largely revolves around trying to find out why Rune/Sara would use the name of this little girl and exploring the evil deeds said girl committed.
Selphine is one of our main heroine's, she is a Princess in a time of war. When things begin to look grim, she and Ritona, her servant/guard/friend are teleported away and end up in a strange place, needing to find their way home. She's very caring and selfless and has a way with people. She's very trusting and kind. She also has powerful magic that she demonstrates on a few occasions.
And our second round is the first bracket of La Pucelle Tactics

Prier (sometimes spelled Priere) is a demon hunting nun with the ambitious dream of one day becoming the Maiden of Light. She's very brash and has a short temper, but deeply cares about those around her, especially her brother who she was stuck raising after they were orphaned. While not the most graceful or soft spoken, she is a hard worker and supportive of others.
Alouette is a woman with amnesia who arrived at the Church where Prier and her brother attend. Her powers were astounding so she quickly shot up the ranks and became their teacher. She's a devout follower of the Holy Book, sometimes at the expense of common sense, but she learns to outgrow this as time goes on. She's generally very sweet and kind but won't hesitate to discipline if necessary
48 hours to go~!
Sherry and Millie.
Daisy, Millie, Rune/Sara and Alouette.
Rune/Sara and Prierre.
Rune and Prier.
For the previous bracket, I'll go for Sherry and Millie. I'm not going for jerks. :p
For this current bracket, I'll go for Rune because MYSTERY AND INTRIGUE! The second choice is very tough because they're both demon hunting nuns. That just sounds like a Supernatural plot point waiting to happen. Or a really low budget comedy horror movie.
I digress. I'll go for Alouette. Prier seems just too over the top.
I don't really know the other game well enough, but I'll vote Selphine because why not?
I vote Prier.

Lionela is a traveling street performer with her two living "cat puppets". She has a mysterious past that you can learn about by triggering her scenes. Because of her traumatic past, she doesn't deal well with people and is very shy and skittish.
Sterkenberg (Sterk) is a knight who is very hard working and loyal to the king. He has an intimidating look, but is actually an overall nice guy who does what he thinks is best. He also helps the protagonist and gives her her tasks to complete.

Judith is a woman who enjoys fighting and does it well. She's very bold and decisive, and very confident in herself as well as flirtatious. During the story, she comes across as very blunt and she tends to go off on her own to get things done that she thinks need doing or wants done. She's secretive about her past and her goals.
Yuri is the main hero of the story. He became a knight with his BFF since they both wanted to devote their life to helping others. However, they soon learned they had different ideas about how to do so and Yuri leaves in order to be free to make the hard decisions he wouldn't be allowed within the knights, since some might be considered immoral or illegal. He's a good example of grey and grey morality, since he'll do things that might be considered bad if he thinks they'll lead to something good

This was a tough one. I like both the fellas a good bit, but found the ladies more entertaining.
I'm going ahead to post up the next round to speed things up a little, and also because I'll be out for a while tonight. But voting is still open on the last round.
Now then first bracket is Dragon Quest V:
http://i.imgur.com/c6e3bLh.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/B2hwbSD.png
Nera is from a noble family, and she's very kind and gracious. When she was younger, a witch told her father that she was at risk of being kidnapped, so he sent her to live at an Abbey for a while. She meets the protagonist when they're children and then later as adults, where her father offers him her hand in marriage. At first she's opposed to an arranged marriage, but falls for the hero and helps him on his journey. If you choose to marry Nera, they will have children. She also adventures with him, and is the best of the available brides at magic.
Saber is a young sabercat being bullied by some children. The hero and his friend (and possible future wife) Bianca, tell the kids to shove off. The kids say they'll only stop if the hero goes and fights the ghosts in the haunted castle place. He does and the kids leave Saber alone. Saber then becomes very loyal to the hero. They're separated later on, but find themselves reunited.
And out second bracket is from the Fighting game Arcana Heart 3:
http://i.imgur.com/E9FxzyK.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/GzmCJKC.png
Konoha is a speed built character and her default Arcana is the Arcana of Nature. She's very silly, not the brightest, pretty goofy. But she's also loving, sweet, and loyal. She became the retainer of Kamui, a woman known as the Millennial Guardian, a very prestigious position. She's also a ninja dog.
Fiona is built for strength but incredibly slow and her default Arcana is the Arcana of Metal. She was kidnapped and brought in to the Elemental World, which stopped her from aging but also made it so she can't see her friends and family very much anymore. But she serves the woman who kidnapped her loyally and has tried to make a life for herself there.
48 hours~
Wait, Saber?
...either way, Nera and Konoha.
Nera/Flora & Fiona
Ah, I've two brackets again to look at.
Atelier Rorona: I love Sterk's outfit! Look at his clothes! I also find the intimidating yet friendly and helpful types quite interesting. Lionela has... cat puppets. Her backstory intrigues me but I'll vote for Sterkenberg.
Tales of Vesperia: I'll go for Judith based purely on her mysterious story. Yuri looks alright but "follows his own moral code" and "anti-hero" sounds suspiciously like "douche" to my ears.
Dragon Quest V: I actually recognize Nera/Flora from the poster of the game. She seems pretty swell, so I'll vote for her. Nothing against Sabercats, though.
Arcana Heart 3: How... how can Fiona even carry that sword!?! Very much a case of video game logic there. So it is either the maid with the massive sword or the cute ninja girl. Both sound pretty typical of the genre to me. I'll go for cute ninja girl #21, also known as Konoha.
Saber and Konoha.
Everyone seems done with the last round, so we'll close it up a teeny bit early
Both brackets had a tie of 3-3, so I will be the tie breaker in both!

http://i.imgur.com/DqdXc8K.png
There are some spoilers for this game if you intend to play it!
Mishera is the Elder of the village of the Wind. She is blind, but can read the wind and knows many many things because of this. She uses Wind magic, obviously. She's a very kind and wise woman and she's always willing to help others.
Cruxie was known as one of the strongest (if not the strongest) warriro in the Fire Village, until she caught the fatal Iksan Fever. She's supposed to stay bedridden but often does what she wants anyways. Eventually she joins the party and serves as a heavy hitter style of character.
And from Soul Calibur:

VS
http://i.imgur.com/VJTYexY.png
I can't say the whole story for both of these because I haven't played all of the games and I only remember so much! Sophitia is like the holy, virtuous woman. She's kind, selfless, faithful, strong-willed, hard working. She uses a sword and shield as her weapons and is a pretty powerful character. She makes a lot of sacrifices for her family and would do anything for them.
Surng Mi-Na is the more rambunctious one. She can be overconfident, she has a quick wit, and she is very headstrong and determined. She doesn't like being talked down to at all and wants to be taken seriously. She is a pretty quick character and has good reach, using a Naginata as a weapon.
48 hours and previous round closes soon~
Cruxie &...
OMG, a game I've played! Sophitia!
Ys Seven: Interesting characters both of them. We have the blind woman, or the terminally ill woman. I really like the fire and determination from Cruxie's bio, so I'll go for Cruxie.
Soul Calibur: Isn't this series known for the scantily clad characters it possesses? In this world, is fabric and cloth like a scarily rare commodity? Clothing issues aside, I'll go with Sophitia. I know she sounds boring, but who doesn't like a kind, virtuous, family-orientated character? Almost all of my Sims 3 characters turn out that way :p
The games got worse as they went along, yeah. Sadly true of a lot of fighting games :( But sometimes if you look past the (lack of) clothing, you can still find some awesome characters!
The fanservice thing bothers me too, honestly. ESPECIALLY when I like a character because then I feel like they could be getting positive attention from their awesome development or writing instead of boobs (looking at you Agarest series :argh:)
Cruxie and Sophitia.
About Soul Calibur, this just sums it up, really.
http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/...pstig8ojpg.jpg
Like, there's subtle forms of exploitation, then there's literally hitting you over the head with it.
Well like I said the series has gotten worse over time. sadly. Not that it was totally innocent of it in the first place, but it has gotten more exaggerated
Like I'm playing Dead or Alive 5 now and I turned off the jiggle and the clothes tearing and the game is actually a super fun fighting game. And I can just choose the less revealing outfits for most (although they don't all have that option). But sometimes the games will just throw in outfits that make me just
Tekken has gotten worse about it too :/
EDIT: Not arguing or anything, just saying I agree xD
Oh gosh, boob jiggle physics.

http://i.imgur.com/OQxx4dk.png
Natalia is the Princess of the Kingdom your hero is from, and has been engaged to him since childhood as kind of an arranged marriage type of deal. At the start she acts a bit spoiled and very bossy, but she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty when they need her and will jump right in to help those in need. Her love story later in the game is kind of messed up, but it's one of my favourites because it's kind of unconventional and I think it's sweet. She also learns more about her family and has some things to work through there as well.
Jade is a colonel in the army for the sort of enemy Kingdom to the main hero. He's a legendary fonic artes user (the magic in this game) and is very well respected. He's also pretty much a genius, very sarcastic, sometimes a bit lazy. As the game progresses you learn more about who he is and how he became that way. As I mentioned in the character sheet, it's not just interesting from a well-told story standpoint but it also gives you a type of character you don't often get.
And from Star Ocean 4:
http://i.imgur.com/Q45mbRo.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/N8pXGPz.png
Reimi serves as the second-in-command aboard the spaceship of newbs traveling the galaxy. She's from a prestigious family and she's very smart, well-read, good at martial arts, and a master of archery. She's kind to others and she does her job as best as she can, including when she needs to take command, even though it doesn't seem like she'd be the best at leading because of her more demure personality. We get to learn more about some trauma later in the game and how she's dealt with that.
Faize is an alien that meets and helps the main party. His race is technologically advanced, and he becomes a useful ally on the journey. He's very kind and polite and his intentions are usually good. He does care about his friends and he works with them well and always give things his best. Later in the story, the stress starts building up for him after he loses some of the things most important to him. Then some spoilery stuff happens.

In "real life" (it's a gme that imitates an MMO, so the players have "real lives" outside of the game) Elk is a middle schooler who joined the game to overcome his shyness. In the game, he is a a wavemaster (magic user) who follows around the cat-like character named Mia and cares about her a bunch. Mia is quite mysterious though as usually animal characters are not allowed and she seems to know things no one else does. Discovering more about this person he cares so much about is a big point of his story.
Mistral in "Real life" is a 20-something year old housewife who does administrative work. In the game, she is also a wavemaster, and mostly plays the game for fun. She's very upbeat and cheerful and excited to help out. It isn't until later in the story that she realizes some funky stuff is going on.

Most of you probably know these two characters!
Steiner is the Captain of the only male knight squad in Alexandria. He is generally not taken seriously. He is fiercely loyal to the Queen and Princess Garnet, and when Garnet is 'kidnapped" by Zidane and co, Steiner makes it his mission to bring the Princess back safely and see Zidane and his band of thieves brought to justice! But eventually Steiner learns that blind loyalty is not the only way to go, faces some lawful vs good dilemmas, and learns that things aren't always so black and white.
Vivi is a little Black Mage boy who kind of gets caught in the middle of things because he wanted to see a play. Soon he sees that other Balck Mages like himself are used as tools of war and artificially created and manufactured. Who is he? Is he a weapon or a puppet like they say? These are questions Vivi has to find answers to, and then he has to deal with the knowledge that comes with them.

From Atelier Totori:
http://i.imgur.com/bBI92X9.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/RFTr95d.png
Totori is the protagonist of Atelier Totori. He mother was a famous (rowdy) adventurer who went missing. Totori resolves to get her adventuring license and find her missing mother out there in the world. She was also trained under Rorona and is somewhat a prodigy considering how well she does with what teaching she has. She combines her alchemy and her adventuring and goes out in to the world with her friends and works to find out what happened to her missing mother.
Rorona was the protagonist of the previous game (Atelier Rorona). She's grown up in this game and by grown up I mean become more comfortable in her skin, leading her to be even weirder. She's pretty flaky and ditzy and needs supervision if you don't want to end up fishing her out of a lake, but she's an excellent alchemist, even making tiny adorable people with alchemy. She's a very sweet, kind, and caring woman, but she certainly is odd.
And now from Fairy Fencer F:
http://i.imgur.com/HlVdCWn.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/JgJSTKa.png
Tiara is one of the heroines of this story. She is a fencer, meaning she can wield fairy weapons and work on the revival of the Goddess (or the Vile God) and has made it her mission to collect all of the fairies to revive the Goddess and save the world. I won't spoil too many things but let's just say she has some serious issues making her plan that much harder. But despite her problems, she works as hard as she can and dedicates herself completely to the cause. Her main weapon is a Glaive, although her fairy can transform in to other weapons as well. She can use healing magic and uses a lot of water elemental spells.
Bahus is a fairy and is actually the weapon of a playable character named Harley, who is his Fencer. So in a sense, he is playable. He turns in to guns in battle as a default but can do a few other weapons as well. He is pretty mature and acts more as a mother or father to Harley instead of her fairy companion. She can't remember to bathe herself if he wasn't there to make sure she did. He also works to keep the team well fed, taken care of, and motivated.

I've some catching up to do!
.hack: What a strange concept for a game. I'll go for Mistral for this one. Because housewives are tough!
Final Fantasy IX: I still need to play this game. But I shall go for Steiner, if only because I think everyone adores Vivi in this game.
Atelier Totori: I'll go for Totori herself purely because "It's not like I'm creating explosions on purpose!" sounds adorable. And I prefer her costume as well.
Fairy Fencer F: Look at that pink apron! It also is very rare to find a caring, compassionate 'Team Dad' in games so that is refreshing.
Rorona and Bahus.
Our last bracket is just about done, so let's wrap it up!

Both Lily and Bismark are marriage potential. Lily is the eldest of three sisters and she runs an inn. She is a hopeless cook, but a beautiful singer and she'll play music for you at night. She helps home the heroes when they arrive on the island and her heart events largely revolve around her trying to improve her cooking. She also hosts the island's Winter Festival, where they gather snow to make a Snow Dragon.
Bismark is the twin brother of a potential bachelorette and runs the general store. He is very shy, but takes the business very seriously. He has trouble talking to people and his heart events are about him learning to assert himself. However, he will stand up for people when they need him, like when some gentleman are being a bit too forceful with his friend (and Lily's younger sister).

In this world(s), the gaming consoles and some other game related things take the form of moeified anime ladies. Vert represents the Xbox consoles. She's very proper in her speech, she really likes tea, but she's also an arrogant sore loser. She loves video games and will play the excessively if someone wasn't watching over her and making sure she eats and sleeps. During this game, she adopts Neptune's little sister as her own and tries to fight the good guys, eventually joining them. She's an intelligent woman but a bit crazy. She becomes a bit more arrogant while transformed.
Neptune is the representation of the Sega consoles. She's the protagonist of this game and extremely lazy. So much so that she wastes 3 years getting nothing done at one point. (Luckily they give you a time skip). She is smart though and when actually pushed she can get stuff done rather well. She's also good humoured, but she has a hard time being serious, she breaks the fourth wall all the time, and can be pretty self focused. Her slang is terrible and outdated which is sometimes funny and sometimes tragic. When transformed she becomes much more serious.

Okay, these are going to be short because Dark Cloud doesn't have the biggest focus on characters!
Xiao is a cat. She was a cat our hero found in the dungeon and turned human through video game logic. As such, Xiao has become loyal to Toan (the hero) and helped him on his adventure. She uses slingshots in battle (including a particularly sassy talking one), has weak attack but good speed, and can jump over small holes in the ground. She is the first ally gained.
Ruby is a genie who was trapped in a lamp and found by King, who hoped to use her for his own benefit. Ruby is no doormat though and is known to cause trouble, and can be seen threatening King and his lackeys. Hearing about the Dark Genie, she accompanies Toan on his adventure. Pascal and Poisson both have had a rapport and a friendship before the start of the game and are from the same place. They're both very intelligent women, but Pascal is playable and Poisson is not.
Poisson is next in line to be leader of her people and acts as voice of the current leader. She has a good head on her shoulders, she's firm in what she says, and she helps the party out of a few sticky situations. She's assertive without being mean or rude and she's kind without being a doormat. You first meet her when going to Pascal's home to ask about a certain something.
Pascal is very bubbly and vibrant and outgoing. She makes friends with everyone and has no filter (although not in a mean way, more in a way of adopting people or prying in to their business without realizing). She's a technical wiz, which also comes in handy for investigating some of the strange happenings around the world. You first meet her when she tries to latch on to one of your party members uncomfortably while showing you some ruins she found.

Ruby and Pascal.
Pascal and... uh, Ruby.
Sorry guys, I have a lot of stuff going on tonight so I'll be going on an earlier schedule today and the last round will close about an hour early! In the meantime, here are your next brackets!
First bracket is from Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns:
http://i.imgur.com/PmSHHBo.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/bUeTzFf.png
Both are potential bachelorettes!
Laney works with her rather femininehttp://hm10-cdn.fogu.com/howard_img_2.png father at the cafe in Bluebell. She's always in a good mood and she loves baking. Her favourite gift is cherry pie, but she's overall easy to give gifts too because she likes a lot of flowers and things you can pick up for free. She does not like insects.
Georgia works at the animal shop in Bluebell and takes care of the horses. She loves animals and she has a bit of an accent that she's self-conscious about. Her favourite gift is fried rice, and she likes a lot of insects that you can catch and give to her for free. She doesn't like fish and hates roasted eggplant.
And from the Atelier series, we have Atelier Shallie:
http://i.imgur.com/xiRS7Dm.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/P0tMsNL.png
Homura is a homunculus treasure hunter, who is known to be very skilled. As he is a homunculus, he talks a bit in borken grammar like the rest of his people. He's very helpful and kind to those around him and never hesitates to lend a hand. He is a samurai of sorts in battle and can use numerous skills, including stat buffs and attacks.
Shallistera is one of the Shallie's and one of the main characters of the game. She is an alchemist and the daughter of her village chief. Her village is going through a drought, so she travels to the oasis town to find help for her people. She has never been to such a big town before and has some trouble socializing, but she starts taking responsibility for herself more and adjusting to what she needs to do. She uses a bell in battle and can synthesize items.

Also if you check the first post and see the brackets, we're coming along nicely :)
Georgia and Homura.
Georgia and Homura! Looks like Carny and I have mind-synched of late ;)

With a vote of 4-2, Ruby wins the Dark Cloud bracket and will later go up against Monica to see who will make it to the finals!

Ugh, a combination of internet troubles and the RP have dragged me from this. Sorry Pumpkin!
Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns: I like any girl who likes animals, and I also generally prefer tomboyish characters, for no particular reason. Georgia!
Atelier Shallie: Homura reminds me of Rocket Racoon from Guardians of the Galaxy for some reason, which is adorable. His gameplay seems interesting as well, so I shall go for Homura!
Quick question aout the Atelier games: they all seem to have an interconnected story. Can you tell me more about them? Alchemy is a recurring theme I'm noticing.
The 6 Atelier games I've played are separated in to two umm "series". Atelier Rorona, Totori, and Meruru are part of the Atelier Arland series and each take place a few years after the other with the protagonist of the previous game being the mentor/teacher for the current protagonist. Ayesha, Escha & Logy, and Shallie are all part of the Atelier Dusk series.
The games do center around alchemy and all (except for Shallie) are a combination of RPG and time management game of sorts. Shallie did take out the time limits and stuff though. The Arland series is generally more upbeat and follows each heroine's personal journey. Rorona is stuck taking care of her Master's Alchemy Atelier so it doesn't get shut down. Totori is serching for her missing mother, and Meruru is trying to expand her Kingdom so her father will let her become an alchemist.
The Dusk series is a bit darker and is actually about a world on the verge of death because of people abusing alchemy in times past. Ayesha is searching for her missing sister, Escha & Logy investigate some ruins from these times past, and the Shallie's (there are two, Shallistera as you see above and Shallotte) trying to find a cure for the drought spreading around the world.
In both games you use alchemy for items. You make your healing items this way, accessories, attack items, etc, as well as you'll usually have requests and such to fill using alchemy.
It does look very Japanese. By that I mean the character design is very anime. :p
Georgia and Shallistera.
Laney & Shallistera
Laney and Homura.
Georgia and Homura.
Laney and Homura.
Next round!
From Dead or Alive 5:
http://i.imgur.com/SKhfIOX.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/RJlIkeM.png
Keep in mind I've only played the 5th game in the series, so the story is mostly what I've found looking in to it, as opposed to knowing from playing all of the games. The descriptions will also be rather short as I'd prefer to focus more on what I did see of them, just so I can give more of a firsthand account.
Hitomi is half German, half Japanese. She trained in Karate under her father. She enters the fifth tournament to test her strength and prove herself and she ends up getting second place. She works very hard with her training and she's an overall friendly and supportive person that seems to get along with most people.
Kokoro is half Japanese and half American. She is the illegitimate daughter of the man who runs the organization that seems to be doing some very sketchy things. She's very feminine and soft spoken, but also seems a bit off and clueless.
And from Suikoden IV:
http://i.imgur.com/TGK6v4r.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/969J0N6.png
Kika is a well-known pirate in the Island Nations. However, she is not necessarily the stereotypical view of a pirate (besides the drinking) and she's actually quite a wise woman who doesn't usually make rash decisions. She joins your party fairly early on, making her a useful ally to have. She represents the Tenko Star, also known as the Lone Star.
Flare is kind and intelligent, but if often embarrassed by her dad's gung-ho attitude, as she's a bit more reserved. But despite that, she'll never hesitate to help out when she's needed and does a good job at getting things done. While not the most gung-ho, she still has a lot of determination and drive. She represents the Tenkou Star, also known as the Clever Star
48 hours~
Hitomi and Kika!
Dead or Alive 5: Shock horror, characters who actually wear clothes! I almost didn't recognize them outside of their swimsuits. I'll go for Kokoro, if only because I'd be impressed if she could fight in a kimono and those horribly impractical shoes.
Suikoden IV: I have a thing for pirates lately, Isabela from Dragon Age II, Sigrid from Generic Fantasy™, and now Kika. Both Isabela and Sigrid have hilarious personalities which belie a ~dark and mysterious~ past. I've not played any of these games, but I'll go for Kika.
Flare and Kokoro.

That's been a few votes not go your way eh Pumpkin?
Indeed
I'm keeping track of it so when it's all over, I'll have like a list of how it would have went if there was no voting (meaning just myself picking my favourites). I can tell you it's already quite a bit different. Especially since we're still in the first stages and don't even have all of our game finalists yet!
EDIT:
Ahahaha, that's the last 7 brackets I've voted against the majority! Last one I agreed on was Totori
Hitomi and, due to a distinct lack of archer characters, Flare.
Hitomi and Flare.
Quite amused at the DoA characters' names. "Pupil" and "Heart", huh.
Hitomi & Kika
Time for new brackets!
First is from the Legend of Mana:
http://i.imgur.com/Ko5TG06.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/om4eGi1.png
There are some spoilers here if you intend to play the game!
The Matilda story is one of the most extreme and complicated love stories I've seen. Matilda is a holy woman. When you first meet her she looks like a very old woman. This is because her lover took her powers from her, aging her drastically. Her lover is a half-demon who is very upset that he isn't allowed to be with her because of her position, so essentially wants to destroy the world. Another man who loves Matilda is trying to kill her lover. And her female friend is trying to sort all of it out while keeping her away from the half-demon she loves. This leads to some very bad things. Matilda believes that the greatest thing anyone can have is their freedom and wants to be with her half-demon lover no matter what and is willing to forsake everything for it.
It's a bit complicated to explain Pearl and BlackPearl without some info. There are a race of people called the Jumi who's hearts are made from jewels. They are being hunted to extinction. They have a few positions, and usually there is a "Knight" Jumi who will protect a "Guardian" Jumi. Pearl is a Guardian Jumi, she's bery sweet, peaceful, caring. But we learn that she was born from the damaged core of BlackPearl who was the "Knight" for the leader of the Jumi, and was one of the most powerful Jumi of all. She is much more stern and powerful.
And from Xenosaga:
http://i.imgur.com/mvCNmCM.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/YwUFqGx.png
There will also be spoilers for these because it's like 3 games long with a very complicated story.
MOMO is a Realian (artificial human) created by the greatest scientist (and thought madman) of their time. She has several functions, but one of the most important things is she contains the "Y-Data". Without getting too detailed, this contains very valuable information and the bad guys want it. She was based off of the daughter of the man who created her who based off of his disabled daughter, who died. Because of this, at first, her "mother" (The wife of the man who created her) couldn't stand to look at her or be around her, and people thought her father was a madman who brought about much bad things. She struggles with herself and feeling accepted and of course wanting to be human. But she's very sweet, she works hard, and she does her best for her friends. In the first game, she is very physically weak, uses rods, and is a good healer. She becomes a much more powerful and well-rounded character in the other two games.
Jr. is a U.R.T.V. which takes a bit to fully explain, but he's not human either and is essentially a weapon. He was born with his twin brother and himself attached at the heart, and his brother is really kind of crazy and obsessed with him and is one of the main game antagonists. He was the most powerful U.R.T.V. and was designated the leader, but he made some poor decisions that lead to a lot of deaths. He's also permanently stuck looking like a child, and he was in love with Sakura, mentioned above. He uses guns in battle and is an overall well rounded character with good distance fighting.

Matilda and Jr.!
Pearl and Momo!
"Waltzing" Matilda & Jr. :peachdance:
Time for another round! Also, I'm surprised Kika had to go to a tie-breaker; I thought she'd win that one pretty easily.
Legends of Mana: Oh wow this is all kinds of confusing: I imagine you kinda have to play the game to really get the story behind both of them. But I'm a hopeless romantic so that Matilda wants to be with her half-demon lover no matter the consequences is rather sweet, so I shall go with Matilda.
Xenosaga: Someone will have to explain the difference between Xenosaga and Xenogears: I've played neither! of the two 'human non-humans', I'll go with MOMO. I've always found sentient robot/A.I captivating in games: EDI in the Mass Effect trilogy encapsulates this; her wanting to understand what it is to think and feel like a human. That, and her romance with the human Joker is just adorable.
But enough about other games. I'll go with MOMO because non-humans have emotions and feelings too, and I think her struggle with that is very emotionally powerful, to me at least.
I'm going to go ahead and post up the next two brackets!
From Final Fantasy IV:
http://i.imgur.com/SyFUPha.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/HQ2BgCz.png
Porom is a protege white mage from the village of mages. In IV, she is quite young, but wise and mature beyond her years. She also keeps her twin brother in check, as he is much more vulgar and rude than she is. In The After Years, she takes care of the village and the Elder of Mysidia, placing the good of her town before her self.
Cid is a mastermind engineer who designed the Red Wings, the strongest airship fleet in the world. He is very much against the war and always has a sunny disposition and a smile on his face. He's an old friend of Cecil and Rosa and a strong supporter of their relationship.
From Hyperdevotion Noire:
http://i.imgur.com/t273kIn.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/n8L7YPb.png
Poona is a slow talking gal, generally pacifistic and sweet, although she'll do what she needs to for those she cares about. She's a great mage to have in battle as she has both useful offensive spells and area healing spells. She is quite fond of the Bon Bon that floats above her head. She is based on the Opoona games, which I haven't even heard of! She faces off against the party after they've been tricked by another character, and she joins after the misunderstanding has been cleared up.
Little Rain is very calm and demure and is thought of as a saint by her village. This doesn't stop them for taking her generosity and selflessness for granted though, as they are easily willing to sacrifice her for themselves. Thinking it's for the good of the people, she agrees, but when she learns that they've been taking her for granted, she goes berserk and gets rather violent. She's based on Little Snow from the Blazing Souls series. It tends to rain when she's around.
48 hours~
Cid and Little Rain.
Matilda and Junior.
Cid and Poona.
What kind of name is Poona, even? It not only looks weird, it sounds weird.
Porom and Little Rain because she has a moon stick.
Final Fantasy IV: Not much love for kickass five year olds are there? I'll go for Porom.
Hyperdevotion Noire: A tough choice. Poona's slow talking would really grate on me but Little Rain seems like she could snap at any moment. But I'll go for Little Rain because I like the rain, so we have a connection there.
Cid and Little Rain.

Cid and Little Rain
I think this is the first bracket where I'm genuinely disappointed that someone didn't get through: MOMO.
I am probably never going to vote, because I am mean like that, but I just wanted to express my joy that Kika got through because she is the best character in SuikoIV.
Well, to me MOMO is okay for the type she represents. Really, Takahashi and Saga write great characters.
But it's still a type that annoys me :shobon:
Having never played the games, I just found MOMO to be a more compelling robot than Jr, who is somehow a child who uses guns, but is also a non-human.
I don't know, I just wanted MOMO to win that one :p
Jr. is an adult in the body of a child because of SCIENCE!
Porom and Little Rain.
Wow that was the most votes we've ever had, I think. Closes in about 2 hours.
In the meantime, here are your next brackets!
From Suikoden I:
http://i.imgur.com/9KX3Fus.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/hpVWPoJ.png
Hix is from the Warrior's village, although he's a bit more of a pacifist. But he goes to rescue his girlfriend when she's kidnapped by a vampire. Yes, this really happens. Afterwards he goes with her on his trial of manhood or whatever the ritual for the village is. In the second game he goes on to fall for his girlfriend's fake illness mission thing so he can once again prove his manhood. He is the Tenrou Star, also known as the Goal Star.
Viktor in the first game is part of the rebel army, and in the second game he is part of the rebel army. He's very strong, has a strong personality, and also a frenemies relationship with his back talking sword. He's always of some importance in the rebel army, but more of an action man and not as a leader. He packs quite a punch in battle and is a useful ally for much of the game. He is the Tenko Star, also known as the Lone Star.
And now from Tales of Hearts R:
http://i.imgur.com/ABQWbTY.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/XEhGjyM.png
Kor is the protagonist of this story. He's a simple country boy being raised by his legendary and perverted grandfather, until tragedy befalls one day. He meets Kohaku and while trying to rescue her from an attack, her "heart" (or what is basically the heart in this game) is shattered and spread across the globe. Feeling responsible for what happens, Kor vows to get her shards back and restore her to her full self. He rushes in to action head first, he's rather naive, but he cares about everyone and accepts everyone and means the best.
Kohaku is the girl who's heart was shattered. Her and her brother often find themselves under attack, largely because of the woman Kohaku claims lives in her heart. Near the beginning of the game, her heart is broken in to pieces and scattered across the globe. Her emotions are restored to her one by one. When not heart-broken (literally), she's a very upbeat and bright person, although she has a bit of a temper.
Lots of male characters this time! 48 hours~
Heh, funny how there's a big guy named Viktor.
But no, I may like the big guy archetype, but I prefer the shy/sweet guy type more just because it's more rare, so I'm voting Hix.
And I'm voting Kohaku because I really love the Combat Medic trope :omgomg:
Hix and Kohaku.

Victor and Kohaku.
Hix and Kor.
Suikoden I: Hmm, they both have really strong connections to their swords. I'll go for the big bear Viktor, if only because it reminds me of Fynn's character.
Tales of Hearts R: I love adorkable characters generally so I'll go for Kor. Kohaku seems interesting but the whole 'my heart has shattered!' plot line sounds confusing.
Hix and Kohaku.
I vote Viktor because of his Star Dragon Sword dynamic. Funny stuff.
I'll vote Kohaku just because. They both actually seem like good characters.
Viktor e Kohaku
btw Kohaku sounds like something Ryu would say in Street Fighter
Last round closes soon, but I'll put this one up for voting!
From Atelier Escha & Logy:
http://i.imgur.com/iNJj66k.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/usFAmPB.png
Escha is one of the two protagonists of this game. She is an alchemist who uses the "old" style of alchemy, meaning with a cauldron instead of a machine. She grew up in a small, apple filled town and has joined the development team of the government office. She also helps investigate ruins and such pertaining to the Dusk which is the result of the slowly dying world.
Lucille is a doctor in training assigned to help the development team with her healing talents. She's pretty quiet and shy, but she's a hard worker. She is also sadly prone to mistakes. She works hard to fulfill her dream of practicing medicine, and she also collects figurines! She attacks by launching things from her giant basket, which is quite comical.
And from Final Fantasy XIII:

VS
http://i.imgur.com/d4zzxc9.png
This is a Final Fantasy forum so I assume most of you at least know stuff about this game, and I will keep it short.
Fang is working for the Sanctum military when we first see her for unknown reasons, and finds Snow after Snow learns to summon Shiva. She's pretty straightforward and probably the manliest character in FFXIII. She wants to complete her Focus so she can save Vanille.
Sazh is a father who gets stuck at the wrong places at the wrong time. He fights with some pistols, and has a chocobo chick living in his afro. He really loves his son and wants to take care of him and rescue him at all costs.

Sazh chocobo hair nest is pretty good, but Fang has a dick on her arm.
That's because she's the butch to Vanille's femme.
Escha and Sazh.
Oh, some updates guys! By next week we will be through with the first brackets of all the games EXCEPT the tbd games where I haven't decided on characters yet. That means that we will have completed all games that only have two characters in them (again, minus tbd games). So here's what will be different
-We will start revisiting games, starting with games that have FOUR characters. Ex.: We did Vivi vs Steiner for FFIX, next we will do Zidane vs Quina.
--These will no longer be done in random order by pulling a name out of a hat, but rather by alphabetical order by game. So we will start with the Agarest series, move on to the Atelier series, etc.
-After we're done games with four characters, we will move on to the awkward brackets involving THREE characters. These are a bit odd because you've already seen and voted for one of the characters. Ex.: Cid vs Porom. Cid won and will be going up against Rosa.
--Note that these three character brackets were not decided by my favourite, but by random drawing. Rosa just happened to be picked to advance against the first winner (Cid).
--These will be done in brackets of THREE instead of two and will also go in alphabetical order.
-Once all of those are done, we will start narrowing down each series in alphabetical order. By then we will have a winner from each game, and they will be going against characters from other games in THE SAME SERIES.
--These will be done in brackets of FIVE
-After that we will have all finalists, one character per series, and I'll update you on how that will go because it's still a bit off.
For TBD games, I will replace one regularly scheduled bracket with the game I have decided on as we go along. The regularly scheduled bracket will just then get moved to the next set of brackets
I hope everyone is still having fun and thanks for taking part. I'm really enjoying myself :flirt:
Still some time left in the last round and I am posting this one up now.
From Rune Factory 3:

Collette is a potential bachelorette. A small woman with a huge appetite who wants to get bigger. She's often used by her friend Marian in medical experiments. She fights with a giant lollipop. She loves curry rice and hates milk. She has a very spunky and outgoing personality.
Gaius is the village blacksmith. He's a hard worker who needs to be reminded to stop working from time to time, although he views it as more of a hobby and has a bad habit of giving away the product. He really likes Ores and hates Sashimi. He's pretty shy with the woman he has feelings for, but he's otherwise extremely friendly and jokes around a lot.
Keep in mind both characters have a serious case of older than they look.

Leia is a nurse in training in the first game and a childhood friend of Jude, who she has a huge crush on. She's very outgoing and boisterous, but deep down she feels very insecure about herself. She uses staves in battle, which she uses to quickly strike enemies, she's very fast, and also serves as a good medic for the party as well.
Jude is one of two protagonists the player can choose from. He's a med student who has some family issues. He's a very bright kid, he falls in love with Milla, and he's very quick to lend a helping hand. He uses his fists in battle and is also a very fast character with some healing of his own, although his healing is on the more minor scale.

Okay posting up the next round early because my schedule is all off and I have been resting. Also, Thursday will be the last bracket before we start revisiting games, yaaay!
First bracket is from Final Fantasy V:
http://i.imgur.com/qMjBMF8.png
VS
http://i.imgur.com/7H0TAV4.png
Okay, I'm going to spoil this game that's as old as I am. Faris... is a woman *GASP*. She is a femme pirate who dresses as a man pirate because... well pirates. But that doesn't stop her from being the ass kickingest pirate in all of the Final Fantasy seas. She has a big sea dragon creature named Syldra, she's the lead pirate, and she climbs cliffs to save Lenna. She speaks her mind, she's kind of gruff, but she's a good and strong person.
Galuf is an old dude with amnesia. He actually has amnesia, but that doesn't stop him from playing it up to get out of doing the hard tasks. He's a spiffy old man, he's pretty smart, and he never hesitates to dive in when he needs to and help the young ones out. He also has an adorable little granddaughter and one particular fight shows how absolutely badass he is and that he just won't quit.

Okay, keep in mind I have played ONE game in this series and so I don't know what is spoilerific and what isn't. It also has a very complex story, so I will just give you what I know and understand instead of trying to explain everything when I'm not 100% sure on it. I don't want to give incorrect information after all! If you need more info, there are pages and pages worth on the BlazBlue wiki.
Platinum the Trinity is actually three people in one. Like a package deal. You have Luna, a bratty and loudmouthed girl who sometimes speaks in the third person, Sena a boy I believe(?) who is calmer, nicer, and more down to earth, and Trinity, one of the legendary heroes of this universe. She has a weapon that can turn in to things like hammers and giant cat heads.
Noel is a girl who joined the military academy for her family. She's also a robot or something of the sort, although she didn't always know that. She's very soft spoken and kindhearted and has a lot of friends. But she is also shy and clumsy and easily embarrassed. She is a gunslinger of sorts and very fast to use in battle.

Um... Faris and Galuf are both awesome. Maybe... Nope, I abstain. Can't choose.
Noel is by far my favorite character in BlazBlue, though.
Faris and Noel.
Galuf and Noel.
Going to close out the last round a teeny bit early
With a vote of 6-1, Gaius wins his round!

"...you all do realise that this
only counts as one vote, right?"
Faris and Platinum. Gotta love them purple haired pirates.
I vote GaluFaris.
WHAT?!? :colbert:
Let's do something positive, shall we! Time for new character brackets, yay! These will be the last ones before we start revisiting games until the tbd rounds are decided. Also, still a few hours to the last round if anyone wants to break the Faris and Galuf tie
For the first bracket, we have from King of Fighters XIII:

VS
http://i.imgur.com/UOBQ1JW.png
Athena is originally from the game Psycho Soldier, and was one of the "heroes of light". She is a psychic and an idol (because of course she is, I'm beginning to suspect that the majority of the Japanese population are idols). She's very polite and kind, and but isn't afraid to get serious when she needs to.
Kula is an artificially created person who has ice powers to contrast the fire powers of the dude she was created to assassinate. She really likes ice cream. She started out as being kind of emotionless, but now has more of a childish personality.
And from Persona 4:

VS

Yukiko's family owns the local hot springs inn. She's generally more quiet and reserved, but is prone to laughing fits at things most other people don't find funny. She uses a lot of fire magic and has good offensive magic and can also heal. Her story is about her feeling like her future is decided for her since she is set to succeed her parents at running the inn.
Kanji is a boy with a bad reputation, an aggressive attitude, and a loud mouth. But he's very good at crafts and such and he does care about people, just very... aggressively. He uses a lot of thunder/lightning magic. His story is about traditional gender roles and struggling with accepting his hobbies and skills, which can be seen as very "girly".

Um, Kula, I guess?
And KANJI!!!! KANJI KANJI!!!! OMG KANJIIIII YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't sound so excited about Kula there, Fynn
BUT KANJI!!!!!!
Kula Diamond is the most awesome character in the King of Fighters series.
So. Yeah. Kula.
As for Kanji and Yukiko I really like them both and can't decide! Oh noes! Someone, convince me! D=
Vote for Yukiko because that's who I would vote for and my votes don't count unless there's a tie!
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c344/AGAFURO/Mio5.pnghttp://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ernkastel3.png
"Well I don't know about you Ulty,
but I'm TOTALLY convinced now!
Go Kanji! I- er, I mean we vote Kanji!"
"...your stupidity renders me speechless."

"Hold on a second! We never agreed
on Kanji! I'd rather vote Yukiko!"
"B-but Kanji... is kinda cute when
he doesn't want to be called girly."
"...that's your argument?"

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...RO/Yukari1.png
"Let's just put our vote on hold for now.
I'll try to figure out how to handle this later."
Well this is intense :ohdear:
Kula and... hmm...
Yukiko, for having the same name as my Japanese teacher. While Kanji on the other hand are easily the most annoying part about the Japanese language. Those little things can go smurf themselves :colbert:
Closing out the last round.
The first round is a tie of 4-4, and a hard one to break at that. But in the end, I had to go with Faris!

Athena & Yukiko
Athena obviously. You have her Psycho Soldier lineage, and also "PSYCO BAALLLLLU!!!"
http://download.gamespotcdn.net/d4/u...9/athena_2.gif
And then Kanji. He's a pretty unusual character, and I liked the story.

"The prosecution is ready."

"O-objection! I mean... what the heck is
going on? This is not supposed to be a trial!
We were supposed to pick a character to vote
for! Kanji or Yukiko! There's no crime involved"

either. I'm just playing along."

"Well then. First a question for the prosecution.
At the crime scene, no signs of a crime occuring
could be found. Could you please explain this?"
"Whenever a crime occured or not, the two
suspects are obviously guilty. Because I say so."

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...RO/Yukari1.png
"Sounds convincing enough. I see
no need to go any further than that.
Both suspects are charged as guilty!"

"This court is corrupted! I demand a re-trial!"
Speaking of, if anyone wants to vote for Athena before the round closes tomorrow, now's your chance >.>
If you want to vote for Kula though don't worry about it, it's alright <.<

I like both the characters from the first game. But Kula because I've powers. I might have to try that game at some point.
Edit: Fighting game. Dang it.
Yukiko.
King of Fighters XIII... sadly all I know here is what you've written. My vote goes to Kula, as Athena has managed to annoy me after learning a single paragraph of her existence. Meanwhile Kula has me intrigued, an ice wielding assassin who pulls of hair-stabbing that makes sense? Sounds fun....
Persona 4.... Yukiko hands down. Both are great characters. Yet while Kanji's Large Ham can get on my nerves, there isn't a thing about Yukiko I can despise outside of her pitiful Agility as a healer in PQ. I missed playing through P4 honestly, by in every other adaptation I become rather fond of Yukiko's giggle fits, surprise snark, and love of horror.
You know, with Kula about to win the KOF bracket, that will make three blue haired ladies in the finals. Apparently EoFF likes blue haired ladies
Also, as a thank you to everyone who has participated, I shall give you each an e-sticker. I know, I know, I'm too generous. It's okay, I can spare a few e-stickers.
Seriously though I do have an extra copy of Dissidia (which I don't believe is a region locked game but I could very well be wrong about that) so if anyone wants a copy and doesn't have one, I'll put your name in a hat for participating and pick someone to send it to. I don't like the game much so I don't really need two copies! It's not much, but hopefully a little something as thank you for participating in my tournament
I much prefer blue haired boys. Err, wait... that didn't come out right. Minato Arisato, save me!
EDIT: And I own Dissidia already, so I don't need another copy, either. Though, that said, for a fighting game (which is DEFINITELY not one of my genres-of-choice), I really loved it.
If Bern says they're guilty they're obviously guilty.
