My replica is still an annoying fool.
Finished testing things up past the last boss. Still have the desert to test, but here's a list for you. I would have PM'd it, but that would be a long message and you can't attach files to PMs.
Thank you! I will fix these in my patch. The only thing I will add to that is that there is a difference between British and American English on the spelling of practice/practise:
What does practise mean? Practise is the British English spelling of practice. It can be used in all contexts outlined above, with one caveat.
Before the 20th century, practise was used as the verb form of this word in both American and British English.
Today, British writers and editors still prefer to spell the verb this way, but Americans have made practice standard
But I do flit between Brit and American spellings (see my use of Armor for example) in this so there is something of a lack of consistency there. Maybe as you're an American character I will spell it the American way!
I can't remember what exactly it was, but there was a moment when I used a very British fixed phrase in my banter line and that was pretty jarring :p Granted, I know the banter is pretty randomized when it comes to who says what, so it's not really something that can be fixed. Not that I WANT it to be fixed - it was just pretty weird :p
I toned down a lot of my Britishness in the second draft. A lot more people were called wankers and twats in the original. A Psy - Bubba - Formy - Fox - Shauna party would make this realistic, though!
Now imagine me calling the Floor 7 a boss a wanker in my flawlessly beautiful American accent
I wouldn't have mentioned that one, but it just seemed weird having the same character spell it two different ways :p I don't care which one you use. Went with the American because its what I am.
Fair enough really. :p
I'm excited that more people are finishing the main story and will be exploring the Open World section soon!
Oh, so there is more? Dammit, I don't want to leave this paradise. :(
As for gameplay, I really like the job classes and various skills. A lot of variety, and I keep discovering new devastating attacks as I experiment with it. It's also cool that some characters have some elements but not others, forcing you to switch up your party. You really do have to think about what skills you set for each battle because with only 2 slots you can be pretty useless if you pick the wrong ones.
Sweet jebus the third Raistlin battle is kicking my ass.
He is a tricky smurfer, yeah. I think it requires some status healing items like the Smelling Salts and Awakening (I can't remember what I called them but I'm sure you know what I mean) if you can get to a shop and possibly even status resisting accessories on your critical characters. Baloki's shop expands as you climb (and indeed your odds of getting Silvers and Golds from crates increase too)
As far as the battle itself goes, as the battle goes on longer he breaks out his most powerful attacks so do consider saving your best limits for the end - a similar principle to the Jiro battle. You may have become aware of a situation in the battle where he takes a rest. Perfect time to heal and pour on magical ice damage (Pumpkin is queen of this fight). Finally, hitting him with Slow and/or Confusion (Bubba can do both statuses) can always get you a breather too - you are much more likely to get Slow to stick than Confusion though.
Also, is that not the best version of that song ever? I smurfing love it so much. The FFV main theme bursting on in there out of nowhere, it's beautiful.
Patch 2 released
Download here.
Patch notes:
- Fixed bug which meant Bubba's Gifted Symphony ability replaced the target's limit gauge with his rather than adding to it.
- Fixed bug where stealing from Raistlin gave out a blank dummy item
- Fixed bug which saw players getting Sephex's Robe from an Armor Crate despite being told they had received Pumpkin's Robe. They will now receive Pumpkin's Robe as planned.
- Fixed various unsolid walls, floors, and so on that should've been solid, particularly on Floors 3, 4 and 8.
- Various spelling and phrasing corrections to the game's script.
To install, simply extract the contained "Death of a Fansite" folder to the directory in which you have installed the game. ie, if you installed it to My Documents, extract the files to My Documents. It should ask you if you want to overwrite five files. Say yes to all.
Failing this, you can manually install it - there are several .json files to install. If you follow the directories you should see they belong in Death of a Fansite\www\data.
I have updated the download link in the OP so that the full game download is patched. Therefore if you downloaded it after I made this post, you don't need to install the patch as it is pre-installed.
T'was a great song. I mostly just completely re-jiggered my team and beat him without trouble. I actually only had Fynn set to remove status effects and very few items, so I tossed on all of the fire resisting accessories I could and used Bubba and Fynn for healing (Shauna too in a pinch). Fynn didn't survive the battle, but everyone else was still going strong at the end.
Thank you for making the 'Floor 11' boss a fantastically difficult little twerp. Love the move names. Definitely the one I've died the most to thus far. No real weaknesses, and some blistering attacks and defensive skills.
Typical devs releasing broken games and then having to patch it ugh
Now to murder that smurfer who took the key from me.
Btw, is that "11th floor" track from Live A Live? It sounds familiar
I mean the area. I know what the battle theme is because you sent it to me beforehand
Not even close, then. Reminded me of Live A Live and I got excited that someone remembered that game :(
One of these days, I'll actually play this. Now I'm kind of waiting for the fully patched game.
I just hope the complete story is there and I don't have to wait for DLC.
This does look pretty fun though. Kind of makes me want to try messing around with rpg maker sometime.
Damn you (SPOILER)Spam Brigade! I can't beat this guy.
The irony.
Finally beat him with only Psychotic left with 600 HP.
EDIT: Oddly enough, on the next boss Psy was the only one who died. (SPOILER)Del Murder was way harder. :greenie:
Aaaaaaand dammit forgot to save after I beat it and before the credits. Got to do it again!
So I finally am playing the game. Have been for about an hour. Psychotic you are a smurfing genius. I am constantly smiling and laughing. This is the best and I almost have a man crush on you now. smurf, man. trout.
Jebus, jebus, jebus Del is still kicking my ass. No matter what I try I seem to only do marginally better at best.
I lost to myself.
If too many people realized how meta that is, a black hole would appear from within my soul and devour the cosmos.
I feel all your pain, and am a little glad I'm not the only one who had a lot of trouble with him. My second playthrough I used Formy for the fight and it did make it a bit easier, as well as already having three Limit Break Shards. I still died to him more than once knowing what I was getting into.
I would advise:
Psy with his Banishing Blade, Siphon Life, and a Limit Break.
Nut with Siphon Life, Triple Attack, and a Limit Break.
Freya with Siphon Life, Drain Jump, and a Limit Break.
Formy with Siphon Life, Full Break, and xxx
Fynn with Curaga, Esuna, and maybe the healing shard. I'm not actually sure if he can full heal without it since he always had it.
I stopped playing for now because I am pretty burnt out from work and just want to chill now. Next time I play I'll try that set up. Thanks for the tip!
I do feel cool knowing that I am a hard boss battle. I'm glad my stupid joke actually made itself useful for a change. That and how it brilliantly ties into the crystal along with a damn cool end game FFIV homage with my favorite Final Fantasy IV track "Within the Giant." And having "Megalovania" as the battle theme? Yup, I'm a typical Undertale fan that loves Sans. Though I am tired of it as the rest of the internet at this point, I still deeply love that game at the end of the day and it was really cool seeing a boss battle of a hyper exaggerated version of me with that music.
Sorry that I'm stroking my own [c'mon Sephex, you know better than that don't use that word~Sephex]. I just appreciate the way it was pulled off. Looking forward to what "I" have to say once I beat me.
I actually meant the "floor 11" boss, but early in the thread I posted about what I used on your fight :p
I'll level with you.
I may be inebriated in some manner right now.
I'm sincerely glad you liked it Sephex, I tried to pick the Sephexiest music I could!
Also for anyone else struggling with floor 11, I advise hitting his poison weakness. RPG Maker doesn't visibly display poison damage (your only clue is to watch his HP bar creep down) but trust me when I say that it does a lot more damage than you'd think, particularly if you get him early and keep applying it.
(SPOILER) I climbed down a hole and got my ass handed to me by The Man :monster:
Aha! I'm glad someone else is now out and about in the desert.
My tip for that one is to bring Pumpkin and Shauna and make sure you have the four elements covered with them. Then have Bubba drop Frenetic Beat on whoever has the enemy weakness. Disney Rainbow Strike is OP in that battle as it doesn't cause an element change but is guaranteed to hit a weakness.
Yeah, I'll give that a shot. My attempts so far gradually shifted to boost Nuts damage, give him extra turns with Bubba, try to mitigate the damage, and pray really hard. The thing I've struggled with is getting the damage high enough to murder the trout out of him.
Just did some quick maths and if you poison him, it hits for 9769 a tick! A lot more than I thought actually.
I am also in the open world section and so far I have found (SPOILER)The Man and (SPOILER)Iceglow. I didn't bother with the first one's weaknesses and just belted him with non-elemental stuff. I also found the desert town and the three 'things' that were requested of me, so I need to bring them back to her for my due reward. There was also a boss fight there that I skipped because it sounded hard.
I've been informed the desert music are also original tracks from our EoFF composers. I have yet to hear then, but still - congrats, guys!
Haha, after all these smurfing years, a RPG that actually works? lol
Hope MANUS dies a horrible death in it.(If he is in.)
If I may make a humble request for a future update. May my battle theme be Decisive Battle from FFVI? Simply on account to reference that I was temporarily renamed Ultima Weapon for the FFVI team in the Gang Wars and partially because the Veldt theme makes my eye twitch ever since that one time I tried to give Gau all of his rages.
Other than that, the game has been a real treat. Great job Psy!
Do you want spoilers, Wolf Kanno? Because that's how you get spoilers.
I think I've found all the optional super bosses, although I can only beat 2 of them. Tell me if I missed one:
(SPOILER)
The Man - Beat
Steve - Beat, but damn that Poo attack!
Cid - Smurf The Highwind, man, smurf it
RSL, Unne, Leeza - Seems like they will be toughest of all, I'm scared
Psy's Party - With the proper setup it's over quickly, I just went in willy nilly to check it out
Anything else left to find?
That's them! Good hunting.
The RNG in this fight is a bit annoying, they keep getting their turn calculated on top of each other making Slow useless, and Shellga really doesn't seem to help much against their group spell.
You will start to see enemies that do attacks that ignore your magic defence and the idea is to debuff their magic. Although if you're fighting Gilgamesh 3, I don't think he has any and Shellga should mitigate his damage. He does have a scripted Beatrixesque blast you down to 1 HP attack, but he falls asleep afterwards.
I really want to play this, but I'm a filthy Mac user! Hopefully it's not too much work making it compatible and that happens someday. Congrats on completing another RPG, Psy~ Dis why you the coolest.
Apparently Macs CAN open .rar files. http://www.wikihow.com/Open-Rar-Files-on-Mac-OS-X
Rightio lads, Mac OSX version made. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3jx82dgd1t...20OSX.rar?dl=0
I have no idea if this even works so please let me know!
Also for those who are interested, RPG Maker MV is on the Steam Sale. 65% off, which is what I think I got it for. Still pricey as all hell but worth a look if you're curious about doing something yourself. I can personally say I got my money's worth.
Aw fish, for me it just says The application Game.app can't be opened. I'm not really a techie person though. Could be me. If it works for someone else on Mac spill your secrets. :jess:
https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index...ac-os-x.55209/
Does any of this make sense?
Finally took him down, had to finally use Bubba after ignoring him for most of the game and drop Psychotic for Scruffy cause stealing stats seems to work better than using protection magic. Still a tough fight but it helped that Gilgamesh 3 kept using status magic and actually missing most of the time.
Onto the new "twist" in the game. I swear you thought this all up Psy because of that little "incident" from a few years back.
I recommend using Formy, btw!
Sadly, he's still the only character I haven't bothered with. I just had a good flow going with my team. Also, after dealing with their scenario I still stand by my original feeling (SPOILER) that Christmas should have been the secret character, cause OMG that was hilarious. :ffvilaugh:
It was so hilarious that Psy managed to inadvertently summon Christmas back into the forum.
You're amazing, Bubba. They just don't know. Yet :shifty:
I mean, usually if I have to pick a support unit, I'll choose Formy over Bubba, but Bubba definitely has his unique uses!
... unlike Fox
Hey I've had some wins because of Fox.
I mean, I get how people could use him, but to me, I always struggle with finding a use for him that someone else couldn't fill and do a better job at it
I stand by my "yet" :shifty:
Evil Anime Girl is quite lethal - also, being able to put Black Magic on him and have him as a third 'mage' in my group is awesome.
Fox does suffer from jack-of-all-trades syndrome, although I do think his Runic limit break is pretty broken. I think I said in Discord that I'd like to make a battle to play up to his strengths, an enemy which switches between being magic immune and physical immune.
Which brings me onto an idea. People have mentioned the idea of DLC. I've really enjoyed thinking up challenging bosses and such like, and I am wondering if other people might get the same pleasure. Would anyone be interested in a kind of design-a-boss thing? I could make them, and then we could then stick a group of them, say 5 to 10 at most in a DLC, and then maybe even (this is optional) hold a vote afterwards on who the most fun/challenging/etc boss was.
I guess I just gravitate more towards teams focused on physical damage
For DLC, I'd love some other little stories using other members.
I'd love to play as the Witch Trio for example, and go on a mission turning people into frogs. I'd love to play as Jiro as he builds his Utopia!
You could do a tiny solo dungeon for each playable character that they have to take on alone. That would definitely switch up the gameplay, as the main game is very much focused on party building - in this potential scenario, you'd have to really think how to cover a single character's weaknesses and play up their strengths without relying on other party members.
The solo character challenges would be fun, but the boss you fight would have to be specifically tailored to each character, as well.
This dude at the top is super frustrating
If the RNG hates you, you dead
I've been doing exactly that. But sometimes I waste three turns spamming statuses, to no effect, and he has some INSANELY brutal AOE attacks. I managed to get to the final stage - he opened it with an attack that knocked out three party members (including me, so bummer), even though they were at full health.
So yeah. The RNG hates my guts.
On that fight I used the relatively easier second phase to build full limit breaks, then unloaded with them in phase three, which blasted through that phase and turned the fight into a race to kill him before he killed me.
Team:
Formalhaut
Pumpkin
MVP Bubba
Psychotic
Can you even believe it Fynn
DAMNIT! I did not know I have to save after the final battle. Now I have to redo it.

Those are really good.
I am grinning like an idiot, I love the fan art. Thank you so much!
Psy did you ever imagine the day would come that you'd have made a game that got itself some fanart?
Um, my fanart was still first tho
Bonus Out of Memory Sketch

AAAAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
Perfect
Fynn, your artwork and musical additions were amazing. I was impressed with the music you added upon instantly hearing it.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF THIS ASSHOLE
http://www.bilder-upload.eu/upload/1...1498318824.png
Well, I beat him. Finally. Yaaaay
Time for the extra stuff!
(SPOILER)I love that Wolf Kanno's class is Wolf Canoe :D
Krissy - AWESOME desert theme!
Vincent - again, awesome theme in the staff retirement oasis!
LOL Eastern European Girls. Psychotic, you are a mad man. A mad, psychotic man.
W~Post!
Yeah, I'm all for DLC missions and I'll second the Witches Trio as being one of them cause they were hilarious. Two other scenarios that would be cool is Christmas' epic battle to stop Old Manus and capture him. and a chapter about Cid Knight's during the early era battling against the most infamous trolls like Devil Man, demondude, and some others I'm sure the staff could come up with. You can also dramatize a Cid Knights Selection event or one of the Elections as well.
Man I'm super stuck at the floor 10 boss still! I've been taking a break because I just can't beat him...
I do love the idea of DLC but I can't help with any ideas until I actually play the thing. I could see different April fools jokes end up as special dlc missions/events though, like with the thunderdome/Del Murder leaving staff. That was a fun time.
I need to see which rpg maker I have. I got it from a humble bundle and have never used it.
I have MV the same engine that Psy used, and also all the plugins he used. I just suffer with mapping for the most part as I never think my maps are good enough.
Just finished my first optional boss - apparently the hardest one. Good God that was a frustrating fight.
I have been with kids all weekend so I am still on floor one.
ok got all the optionals down
gg
really cute
good job everyone!!!!
also lol @ the post credits ending
Could you add the patches to the first post please so they're easy to find?
Moved into the post game. Haven't beaten any of the bonus bosses though.
As far as games released this year I say this is GOTY. And I'm not even joking about that. I love this wonderfully balanced battle system.
Done!
Has anyone been able to get the Mac version yet? I think Bubba, KleinerKiller and Kydru all have them. https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index...ac-os-x.55209/ this thread seems to know more about making it work than I do!
It is a good thing. A beautiful thing!
WHAT IS THIS MADNESS, PSY! You better have him have a move called "Canonical Knowledge" that nullifies something.
I'm glad you think so! I know a lot of people have some ideas of some wildly different settings and characters, but I wanted to ease into the DLC gently as well as reward people who have played and supported the game by making them characters or bosses.
You'll be able to use the existing 11 characters as well as 5 new ones. You'll also be able to get the new ones at the very start of the original DoaF if you ever want to replay the game. They won't appear in the major story scenes (Beginning, ending and the... place) but they'll do all the other usual interactions.
Del Murder - Dark Knight
Dealing heavy physical dark damage at the cost of health, as well as status effects. He also pushes allies into the line of fire at his own expense. Rumour has it that his Limit Break will do even more damage than Oilfield Fury, but at a very high cost.
krissy - Summoner
krissy has all of your favourite Final Fantasy summons like Ifrit, Shiva, Titan et al, doing AoE elemental damage. He also has a couple of utility summons like Carbuncle and Golem.
Night Fury - Dancer
Think Formalhaut, Bubba and Fynn rolled into one. Dances will do the same as Formy's debuffs, only this time they're AoE and will hit all enemies! Unlike with Formy they won't do any damage, however. She also has a handful of White Magic spells in case you wanted another source of Protect/Shellga.
Slothy - Sage
Speaking of another source of Protectga/Shellga, Slothy can use both Black and White Magic! The only abilities he can't use are Holy, Meteor and Flare, but everything else goes. His magic stat is lower than the original Black and White Mages to compensate. However, he will have an interesting limit break that will both deal damage to the enemies and heal the entire party.
theundeadhero - Cursed Mage
A brand new class! theundeadhero will deliver powerful healing to his allies, even more powerful than Fynn. However, it will be at a very high cost. For example, he can spit out regular Cure-alls as an ability, but it will take off 95% of his own health! He also has an Esuna-all ability too... whereby he sucks all the statuses off his friends and takes them on himself!
Our old friends Sephiroth, Vincent, Thunder God and starlet & Mirage will show up to give the party a really, really bad time, among others.
Psy you are missing a trick not having the summoner of leviathan as a boss!!
Wooo! New characters! I'll finally be able to feed my narcissism!
:blushblush:
I do have all the phone numbers of those guys Imean Shiva and ifrit and them
Attachment 72722
Did... did I go too far? Is it eye gougingly horrible?
Can you even go too far with Fluffy Puff?
Damn, wish I knew Dark Knight was a class choice back when they were debating my character class. Other than that, this looks like a blast and I can't wait to travel across Fluffy Puff with the new characters while listening to what I hope will be a lot of Aqua music.
I only just realized this morning that the reason my dude has a green mohawk is because that's what he looked like in the wrestling game where you made forum characters if I'm not mistaken.
Darn you Psy, You gave me the urge to play around with MV and today I created a Quina's kitchen. With a mix of harvest moon with a farming system and alchemy with purchasing recipes growing the ingredients, then mixing them to create positions with the recipe books. Forgot how fun these things are to build.
I found another bug - I went on the slide in the second town area and got stuck in the tires, can't move at all. Luckily I just saved though. :)
EDIT: Seems it only happens when you try to go on the slide from higher up - if you go from the bottom the animation works correctly, otherwise the animation triggers too high and you get stuck in the tires.
Not at the moment. My mapping was junk. I was just programming it in and made a potion that I grew the ingredients for myself. maybe I will play around with it some more. The crafting system seems to work so far though. Sure I can bug it up fairly easy though.
Jesus, I'd completely forgotten about Shlups Sims 3 playthrough. Can't say I've ever actually sported a mohawk before, but I'm fine with it since I dislike sharing pictures of myself anyway and it looks cool. Green happens to be my favourite colour as well.
I'm having a lot of fun making skills for Del and theundeadhero. Del basically does awful things to the party for his own benefit, and theundeadhero does awful things to himself for the party's benefit.
I should add that my hair is actually blue now and not purple, But I figured you wouldn't know that. To be fair, the color changes frequentlhy. I'm just letting you know for when I'm a boss! Also yay, I'm gonna be a boss!
I don't think so based on how the plugin I use to represent enemies as party members works but you never know!
I will send a special prize to anyone who can complete a Del Murder solo run.
This looks amazing.
I'm finally in the post-game, loved the final boss and ending as well. Great job Psychotic. :plumcheer:
Good luck with some of the optional bosses. They're all pretty gimmicky, but some are SMT Strange Journey last boss-level luck-based fights :D I'm thinking of one fight in particular. Psy knows how much the RNG hates me.
Have you started using Fynn? ;)
You'll be happy to know that my team for the final story boss was Psychotic, Pumpkin, Nut, Freya, and you. I decided to err on the side of caution and switched out Shauna for you. I'm sorry Formy, I still haven't used you yet.
Freya wins my MVP Award though. Pumpkin is in second. I never removed either of them from my lineup the whole game.
Not as happy as I assume you are, since you've vinally caved and added in a dedicated healer :p
It's funny, in that I'm kind of the opposite. Freya saw a lot of use from me in the beginning, but later on I just struggled to find a good role for her. Pumpkin, on the other hand, was useful throughout the main game, but I exchanged her for Shauna for four of the five optional fights.
It's weird that Shauna was the optional one I switched in for fights I felt I could use optional secondary heals on, but almost never used Pumpkin, and Freya was a staple for most of it. Fynn was in most fights.
I tend to be far more aggressive in in my playstyle, so I'll stick to builds with more dedicated offensive pushes. Not to mention that Lifesyphon + Healing Ointment Limit pretty much covered all of my healing needs, especially since you could get a rhythm going where she could pull off her limit almost every other round if you were careful enough. Her Drain Jump also meant she could heal herself and hurt the enemy as well.
I pulled your character into the final battle because it was spelled out to you that it was going to be an attrition type battle, so having a dedicated medic made sense, but I would also add that the special nature of the fight also gave me more options which finally made your character more appealing to me. I also tend to favor group healing over single target healing, you have a bit of the Yuna/X-2 White Mage issue where your lack of an effective group heal I can use in an emergency just made you less appealing in a life or death battle.
Yeah, Healing Ointment is a great move. Fynn's only really important thing for me is that he has Raise. His Limits are good but the healing alone is not convincing enough for me. If he had no Raise and/or those Limits I would not even use him.
I'll tell you what, if you want to design yourself as a boss I'm all ears! Obviously don't make him too overpowered and have him be defeatable of course ;)
This is gonna be good. How is the coding done in combination with the RPG maker? I mean, if I for example tell you about state machines (which in one way or the other is in the game already anyway) and all do you know what that is or is the RPG maker so good that you do not need to know that much about the coding itself? I assume it is written in C++?
Yeah RPG Maker does the majority of the coding, so there's no need to be overly complex with it, but yeah a state machine is already in built. If turn = X then do attack Y, if HP is below 30% then boost stats and use attack Z, otherwise do attack A at 50% and attack B at 50% for example.
Yes all of those things are possible, but from experience of designing these bosses, it's best to keep things relatively simple as the more complex and interdependent elements of a fight there are, the more prone to it being broken in some way it is.
I don't plan battles from a programming perspective anyway. I think of what I want to happen from a gameplay perspective first, so I'd probably ask any suggestions of battles are written in those terms.
The battle would not be all that more complicated than the final battle from a programming perspective. A four phase battle with a few extra variables that get relevant later and change his battle behaviour. But that's up to you, I can still reduce the half-assed pseudo code I wrote and that was there to explain you somewhat what the battle is like.
For the writing I also have dialogue included in, before and after the battle already.
That is the battle theme.
Probably best to explain as yeah C++ won't work on RPG Maker. Happy to also include dialogue, although I do reserve the right to edit and amend, particularly in the way of my own main characters.
For anyone else who wants to submit anything, first think of stats. HP, Attack, Mag, Def and Mag Def. No need for exact values, just on a 1-5 scale of how relatively high they will be. Then weaknesses, resistances, absorbed elements and status vulnerabilities.
Then for attacks, think of element, type (phys or mag), under what conditions does the boss do the move (does it always do it, does it wait until it's at 50% HP, does it need to have a status applied, does it use it as a counter etc) and strength on a 1-5 scale again.
I would of course remind everyone that having a boss with all 5 ratings is boring and lame. Bosses are fun when you can win!
C++ does not work - that is very strange as most normal games are made with C++ actually.
What about Java?
And about the editing - I doubt you will have the need to edit too much. It is supposed to be a self-satirical battle with a caricature of me + Sephiroth all in one.
I'd probably suggest having a look at what RPG Maker MV is and does, as it may not be what you are quite imagining it to be. It's a tool for idiots. Which isn't meant to be disparaging because, well, I use it, and I am definitely an idiot.
Mind if I show you the half-assed pseudo code that consist half of code, half of just the descriptive version of it? It is not even close to be finished but you would get an impression of what I would send to you in the end and you should also be aware that I would add a few comments in the final suggestion then.
Sure, go for it. I'm off to bed now but will have a look in more detail tomorrow after work.
Sephiroth's 'Correct Approach' attack: Charms a party member, then forces them to use a strong attack against the party member with the lowest defense stat.
As far as I am right now the moveset consists of:
Masamune Slash
Telekinetic Crush
Adamant Stubborn Viewpoint
Smugh Laugh
Villain Cliche
Nameless Spell That Has a Name Paradox
Reverse Game Design
Campfire
Sacred Judgment
Nonsensical Annoying Speech
Nullify Counter Argument
Read Mind: Canonical Counter - this technique, hah, if Psy can actually do what it should do it would be hilarious
Not revealed
Not revealed

Limit Charge
Sephiroth should be included as a boss in The Three Witches DLC and also be vulnerable to the Toad spell.
I think it would be funny.
To help you out:
With previous version of RPGMaker you don't actually code anything.
Most of all the comes prepackaged into the kit. You just have a relatively simple interface and give it general guidelines as far as what they do.
"I want an attack called Masamune Slash that does physical damage twice at medium strength"
"I want an attack called Smug Laugh that lowers all characters physical attack power by x"
"At 10% health, I want him to auto use an ability called Sacred Judgement, which drops all characters HP to 1"
"This boss is weak to Holy status attacks"
You can also select the sound effects played and animations displayed during the attacks, and things of similar nature.
Here is an idea for a challenging boss, well actually 2 bosses.
One uses only physical moves and can also only be hurt by magical attacks.
The other uses only magical moves and likewise can only be hurt by physical attacks.
When one goes down the other goes into a berserk mode where it gets faster and or uses more potent attacks, so if you don't plan for that phase the boss will steamroll you.
I'll flesh it out a bit and send it to you later.
When Psy opens his PM, 2 seconds after he already regrets offering me this.:D
Just out of curiosity as I haven't heard much talk about it, how did you all find the "Desert wanderer" boss battle? How did you all deal with his 99,999 attacks?
Also, did any of you find a certain disappearing blue thing out there? (this is actually a Fallout 2 homage)
I felt it was just right. It had a challenge, but it wasn't unbeatable. I let him hit whoever he hit, then either ressed them, or put on the pain to finish him off, depending on how far into the battle I was.
Pretty much same. It was like, square in the middle when it comes to the difficulty of the dice optional fights.
Haven't found the thing you mentioned though
I did, but I thought it was a reference to something else. I've never actually played Fallout 2. Or watched the show I thought it referenced.
I found the disappearing blue thing almost immediately. Haven't had the time to beat any of the optional bosses though.
Thought it was a (SPOILER) Dr. Who easter egg.
It does reference that show of course, but I incorporated it in that manner as you have a very similar encounter in Fallout 2 in the desert - which was itself an easter egg that referenced said show.
For hidden boss, Evading Sonata + Draw Fire = magic. If you count the turns, of course.
Oh wait, that
Yeah, I did see it.
Wait a minute, we are all characters in a game? That is really weird.
This game has been great fun so far, but I'm terrible at it apparently. Or I just have bad luck. I'm in the fight after the Gilgamesh3 battle, and I can't seem to make much progress. He likes to get multiple turns or have a multi hit move that often just targets one person and kills them. When I do get towards the end, he uses a dark move that hits the entire party and seems to be a one hit kill.
(SPOILER) Del Murder, why must you hate me so?
I was using pumpkin to do so, but I kept getting my entire party silenced. Currently using psychotic, Nut, Formy, Bubba, and Freya. Freya and Bubba are working together to heal. Formy is poisoning and weakening attack at the moment. I've tried a few combinations but no luck so far.
I used Psychotic, Pumpkin, Nut, Freya , and Shauna for the fight. Make sure to buy the accessory that prevents silence and give it to Pumpkin before the fight. Give Psychotic and a few other party members the rings that half Dark damage.
Psychotic - Lifesyphon + Walrus Skin, Banishing Blade
Pumpkin - Poison, then Flare and her first limit
Nut - Build up limit with skills and use his final limit.
Freya - Lifesyphon and Ointment Heal, keep at least one of her dragoon skills.
Shauna - Protectga and Cura, use limits when you get them.
This boss works in phases but if you can get Psy to start drawing his attacks away from everyone else, it goes a lot easier. As usual with any fight dependent on a status ailment, the big deciding factor on your victory is how quickly you can get it on the boss. Poison will rock this boss but be careful about his phases. Once he gets down to about half health, he pulls off a super powerful buff move that give him a whole slew of bonuses including regen. Dispel it with Banishing Blade or Dispel and quickly get poison back on to him.Y ou seriously don't want the boss to get any health back from regen and poison does wonders against them.
In my fight, I lucked out and not only got poison on him but even after he killed most of my party, Freya was the survivor and I used her dragoon skills to avoid damage while poison took care of him.
I've just started so I have little to say except I think I have a big crush on Shauna.
e; omg nevermind I met Pike and it's the cutest I've ever seen her outside of real life :squeeze:
