I have a feeling Doomsday might be correct...
Sorry, he's not. One last hint and then I'll hand it over to princeofdarknez who got Big D's question, or whoever else if he's gone. The answer is from one game, but the riddle itself talks about more than one.
Ok... my final guess (the only one that isn't completely random)... Jumbo Cactuar.
I stand alone not like the rest... not like the other cactuars that appear in numbers.
Now many think I am a pest... runs away.
They say just fighting would be best... instead of running away.
But it's not just strength that I will test... Junctioning abilities ect.
To use me right is kinda 'sketch'y... maybe something with the summoning sequence
But great power I will fetch ye... thousand needles and junctioning etc.
No orbs in sight to help you grow...?
You see I'm not just balls you know...?
He's not a person... he's a GF. :p
Oh, and Cactuars appear in more than one of the games... still I don't think this is the answere.
lol, how have you been so good at doing impossible riddles?
Hehe, guess I don't think like normal people :). Okay LAST LAST clue, SKETCHy is a massive clue. No orbs in sight to let you GROW, how do people grow in FFs (not in size)?
They level up... orbs... exp egg? Or maybe THAT has something to do with Movers since they give alot exp in some of the games. Man, this is to hard for me, I let Doomsday or anyone else with a working brain answere this! :D
Oh come on, I don't wanna just give the answer, but are eggs orb shaped?
Erm... well... no... I mean... the exp eggs are! :riiight:Quote:

Okay you're thinking WAY too specifically. The answer is not a specific item or person or whatever, neither are the orbs that it doesn't have.
Sphere Grid?
If its not this, then I have no clue what it is...
I stand alone like the rest > not in other FF's
Now many think I'm a pest > Its VERY annoying
They just say fighting would be best > yeah because in all other FF's they upgrade all of your stats
But its not just strength that I will test > you get to learn magic or ability or stats in every sphere level
To use me right is kinda "sketchy" > you choose what you want your characters to learn, make the wrong choices and...
But great power will fetch ye' > look at "Sketchy"
No orbs in sight will help you grow > The stupid Cloister of Trials in FFX, put in to throw us off...
You see I'm not just balls you know > You use spheres to level up your characters...
A longshot, but this is all I got.
FFIIj's leveling up in-game cheat.
I stand alone not like the rest, (FFIIj has a strange way of leveling up compared to other games)
Now many think I am a pest, (It's hands down the hardest game in the series)
They say just fighting would be best, (The normal way to get exp)
But it's not just strength that I will test. (The trick utilizes knowledge of the battle mechanics)
To use me right is kinda 'sketch'y, (It is a cheat, which is sketchy... can't explain why 'sketch' is quoted)
But great power I will fetch ye. (It really soups you up good)
No orbs in sight to help you grow, (Not FFX here)
You see I'm not just balls you know (Can't make much out of this)
Ok, Grovers answere must be coorect! I'm almost sure of it.
I can't believe you both got that close and still ignored the 'sketch'y clue, Grover there are NO orbs in sight to help you grow. Someone has to get it soon so I'll leave it open.
Some kind of dress-sphere/job/class thing. I go with the dress-spheres since it's FFX2 and the "orbs" that let you grow are all in FFX.
I'm guessing dress-spheres are also orbs, though I've never played X-2...
A drawing class type charicter, like that one kid that drew monsters in battle from one of those pre ff7 final fantasies, I played them all in the same summer so its hard to distinguish.
That would be Relm tasty.
...Blasphemer
Nooo, you're going backwards, the answer was nearly there. Two or three more guesses and I'll give the answer.
Oh what the hell... Ozma?
Relm?
I really thought someone would get this...
I stand alone not like the rest, (Monsters level up with you, junctioning magic to stats, no mp)
Now many think I am a pest, (just go to the forum to see this)
They say just fighting would be best, (Would rather get strong through exp instead of collecting magic)
But it's not just strength that I will test. (You're rewarded for collecting magic, card playing, refining and junctioning)
To use me right is kinda 'sketch'y, (You DRAW magic to gain stats)
But great power I will fetch ye. (You can get unbelievably strong if you junction right)
No orbs in sight to help you grow, (Materia, Sphere Grid, those circles in IX....)
You see I'm not just balls you know (It's different to the others but it's still effective)
So the answer is.... The junction system from FFVIII.
Ah, I see, mighty clever work!
Well, now we're at a crossroads. Would you like to pose another riddle?
Take care all.
Thanks. I would say give it to princeofdarknez because he got Big D's riddle, but if he doesn't know it could take a while, if it's quicker I'll leave it open.
this WILL take a while...
I suppose, give it until tomorrow afternoon and if princeofdarknez hasn't posted, then you may have the floor again PhoenixAsh.
Take care all.
No... Please... not another one from Phoenix!
princeofdarknez... hurry... you'r our only hope!
Hehe, and there was me being all generous with my 'sketch'y hint...
I'll let someone else riddle if as princeofdarknez hasn't got here yet.
Damn... I was so close to getting that riddle.
I'm afraid my current personal situation demands too much of my time to produce and manage the solving of a riddle, so I will pass on my turn. Honestly, I'd rather have Phoenix do another one. ;)
Haha, well guess I'm back by popular demand then, sorry Ultima Shadow ;).
Life from life and onto the finish,
Find power from legends old.
Get them all and find the home,
To gain something to play with.
Search the world from high to low,
Through this many things can be sought.
Then just chase some decorations to reverse the clock,
You'll get power, just not quite ready.
Guess I'll give a hint, this riddle doesn't involve FF6 or earlier. Could be easy for me, I don't wanna be too hard after the last one.
No worries... I wasn't completely serious in my last post. Your riddles are great... but hard.Quote:

Thanks, I know you were kidding, so was I. It's not Jecht Spheres, and while FFX is involved, you could get the answer having never played FFX, you'd just struggle maybe.
yunas pilgramege for the aeons? or maybe the al behd primers?
FFX is INVOLVED, the answer is not something from specifically from FFX.
Brainfreeze....
Is it summoning powers in general? Aeons, Summon Materia, GF and the like?
Take care all.
it might be Ramuh's Stories from FFIX...
EDIT: Wait isnt it FFX related....?
summons....or the farplane....just come to think about it.... :p
I'm leaning towards The Captain's musings on summoning in general from the later series (though something that general would end up involving FFIV and FFVI). Lines 1/2 reminds me of Magicite or Fayth. Lines 3/4 could refer to getting the Master Summon materia. Lines 5/6 just refers to searching for them in general, I think (FFVII - materia, FFVIII - GFs, FFIX - gems, FFX - extra aeons, etc.). Lines 7/8 are throwing me off for now.Quote:

All good lines of thinking, though this only very slightly has anything to do with summons. Also it only doesn't involve earlier FFs because I chose not to include them.
I like the thinking, but not on the right ideas yet. I'll give two clues because I want this to actually get answered. First, this riddle is pretty much completely literal. Second, look at the punctuation.
Phoenix...
I hate you....
Haha, I'm here to please :D.
grrrrrrrrrrr
good thinking.. I can see where you got that fromQuote:

Lines 1-4 remind me of one of two things:
FFVII: the cycle of life in the Lifestream, and the materia created from it that contains the knowledge of the Cetra. Getting them all and the home could refer to the Huge Materia / Master Materia stuff.
FFIX: the summons in the game that are learned from the ancient summoner paintings and gems. Find the home (Oeilvert or Madain Sari) and get something to play with (you get summoning stuff at both places, right? I dislike FFIX so much.)
Lines 5-6 seem too general to dissect, but taking high and low literally, I imagine Mt. Gagazet and the Valley of the Fayth from FFX.
-------------
Okay, take two.
Lines 5-6 imply travelling from Valley of the Fayth to Mt. Gagazet.
Lines 7-8 imply completing the Cloister of Trials in Zanarkand and receiving the Final Aeon from Yunalesca, although it is incomplete because it hasn't been summoned yet.
Blah... I was going to say Lines 1-4 have to do with getting Yojimbo and Anima, but that has too much to do with FFX and summoning.
princeofdarknez has the right kind of way of looking at the riddles. I know I said you don't HAVE to play FFX to get the riddle, but the logic you used for FFX wouldn't negate understanding the rest. Though that was the wrong idea you chose.
Also as I said look at the punctuation, I very rarely use a riddle style that simply describes a particular answer.
EDIT: didn't see your second guess, which DOES have too much FFX in it for it to be answerable otherwise.
I...hate you.... and I always will..hate...you
I dont even have a clue of what this is...
Browser crashed when I had a full explanation, so I'm kinda pissed and will be abbreviating my thoughts, for better or for worse. :mad2:

*rearranges a bit*
Life from life and onto the finish,
Get them all and find the home,
Search the world from high to low,
Then just chase some decorations to reverse the clock,
Lines 1/2 remind me of collecting Aeons from Fayth and going to Zanarkand. Line 3 could mean Bevelle and Baaj (low). Line 4 is kinda like the Zanarkand trials.
Alternately, Line 4 is suggestive of the clock face in FFVII, Temple of the Ancients. Line 3 could then refer to falling off the clock face to the room below. Lines 1/2 don't make too much sense in this context (I can think of a few things, but it's very loose, not literal).
I'm trying to connect it to the airship idea, since that's my strongest feeling right now.
Find power from legends old.
To gain something to play with.
Through this many things can be sought.
You'll get power, just not quite ready.
Lines 3/4 remind me of an airship - can use it to find stuff, but you don't get "ready" power (no immediate power results from getting an airship). Lines 1/2 then could refer to salvaging FFX's airship from the ancient machina ruins and stuff.
Really, I'm not even sure what you're asking for. Is it the "this" in Line 6? My current answer is "Airship, thanks".
what about the clock in Zozo on FF6?
Doesn't have anything to do with FFVI or earlier, as previously stated.
oh yeah, forgot about that
It was completed, it was just unsafe due to the fact the regent was an oglop when he created the core parts. So to him they seemed functional, but in reality it was far from stable.Quote:

I'll give the answer soon.
The actual full solution:
Life from life and onto the finish (Breed then race)
Find power from legends old.(KOTR)
Get them all and find the home, (Chocobo Forests and the shrine)
To gain something to play with. (Chicobo card)
Search the world from high to low, (Chocographs and diving down and flying up with Dead Peppers)
Through this many things can be sought. (Well they can)
Then just chase some decorations to reverse the clock, (Hit the balloons to get a time less than what you start with)
You'll get power, just not quite ready. (Unpowered Legendry Weapon)
Not quite right logic, but pretty damn close, well done Doomsday!
You're killing us Ash... just killing us.
Haha, hey at least that one got solved! I didn't use any sneaky tricks either. My FFVII thread riddle on the other hand... well if that gets solved quickly I may have to get a bit cruel :D.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
;)
is it the tissue from ff7 (japan version where they can supposidly revive aresith)?
That is all I can think of.
I'm gonna go with the Crystal Cecil uses on Zeromus in FFIV. It's significant, but you can't really use it.
Otherwise, the Crystal in FFIX, that's supposed to be the collection of all eternity or whatever lameass crap that was.
Those both sound logical, I'm gonna lean a bit more towards the Crystal from IX, since it never came into play until (SPOILER)you fought Tranced Kuja and Necron. And I'm still confused to as where (SPOILER)Necron came in... he came out of nowhere and instantly became the main focus.
As for that... Tissues are practically insignificant, there have been a few people who have come remotley close to proving that those are tied into the Battle Square. But as for the the (SPOILER)revival of Aerith/Aeris, that was never possible, 'twas only a rumour spread by incredibly large losers, who wouldn't accept (SPOILER)her deathQuote:

This answer doesn't gel fully as well, but the Dark Crystals in FFIV? I thought it was underground, so it couldn't be snowy...
Or the crystal which you learn the first jobs in FFV (Blue Mage (blue = unhappy), Thief (riches are yours))?
Bleh.
this is most likely way off here, but is it thea earth crystal from ffv?? the only reason i am guessing that is because of the great loss-galuf dies. i really have no idea.
*Feels somewhat discriminated against but has never played FF2 properly so sits biding his time*
The Ice Sled?
It's what you use to get to the Snow Field, which is where Josef dies...
yay! I solved the second part of the riddle!

Oh man, I am starved!
This doesn't look good, you want it?
What rubbish! You can't be serious?
Oh well, time to go back to life.
This might be a bit too easy... we'll see.
zell and his love for hotdogs? or quina?
Yea I'd say its Zell aswell.
the old lady who sells pickles in Lindblum on FFIX?
Hint: All of you are in the wrong games. I wouldn't make it that easy.
When Sabin eats at the restaurant in the Ghost Train?
That's not the full answer, but it is part of it. I'm feeling like a bastard, so keep guessing, you're almost there.
No....... you're going off track. Takara literally has part of the right answer.
Is it the ghost character thats temporary?
Alright, final blatantly obvious hints.
1. Think of all the characters in your party during this event.
2. Grover's named the one not included in the event.
Yeah. The order in which I wrote the lines was Sabin/Shadow/Cyan, since Shadow gives it to his dog and Cyan says hell no.
Hey Doomsday, will you give me a dollar if I can name the episode of Family Guy you sig came from?
'Death is a Bitch'
Guest starring Norm MacDonald as Death.
:D
I loved that episode.
Today, on Hitler... :D
Feels like the whole R=U thing from FFVIII...
The hate/love thing could refer to Edea...
Edea also kinda starts it all by receiving Ultimecia's powers...
Too many crazy holes to fill up...
And don't die, otherwise the whole thing is kaput.
The Warrior class?
The fact you wrote the word 'saved' suggests this is too obvious, but it really sounds like save points, even before you said it involves many FFs.
Start what I finished, (You start at the last time you were at one)
All will be saved. (Well...yeah)
Hate me now, (It's annoying to do)
Love me later. (Nice when you die)
Too many issues, (Problematic bosses etc., plus loads to do for a single play session)
Still the same. (Again with the saving)
Say goodbye,
I will try,
Please don't die. (These three lines read like the save point saying not to die and have to come back and say goodbye again)
Darn you, I was gonna post that. :( I finally thought I knew one...
3D graphics? no? bah!
I don't feel as bad anymore. :)Quote:

well i tried lol :p
uhh. then the suppoting characters :D or is it talking about a specific character from each game?

All will be saved. im still confused here though. umm aeris? how she started to save the world with the holy materia but then dies?
Hate me now,
Love me later. (3-4 talkin about squall and how hes a jerk in the beginning but changed near the end?) i still think thats right or rinoa about how squall doesnt really like her in the beginning but does at the end

i said one for 5-6 ..."Too many issues,

but ummmm garnet maybe?
urgh theres more :( umm lets see. lead female characters?
lol sorry. wooooo i got it. cept i hate making riddles so i pass my turn :p :D :p :D
Well, I'll give it a go, but first, I gotta give props to Dragoon Kain. Good job, that was a freaking evil riddle.
Anyway...
I am one,
Of that which is four.
Death only strengthens me,
And I must not let you pass.
Who am i?
thank you :) :feels special: and umm milon, one of the four fiends?
I am one,
Of that which is four. (four fiends)
Death only strengthens me, (hes undead)
And I must not let you pass. (not become a paladin?)
Darn my inability to make a hard riddle.
Go ahead, unless you want to skip it again.
skip again :) wooo 2 in a row im so cool
Well, here's a (hopefully) hard one.
Good of you to come.
Sleep between the fights, if you don't you might be done.
Cast slow for an advantage, it might make it easier on some.
So I see you again, but you are not my son.
Great rewards will await you if you deafeat me, but most are to dumb.
i dont know this one :(
This is describing the events on Mt. Ordeals in FFIV, I believe.Quote:

Okay this isn't great, but I'm trying something new and it's tricky, so it'll have to do for now. To answer the riddle all you have to do is say which FF it's from, but as that would require a maximum of ten (as far as standard games) guesses you have to give me the reason you pick it.
FFVII, because you used the word Materia.
Fiendish work Dark_Paladin_Cecil, sadly the wrong answer.
Hehe, this might last longer than I thought...
The enemy skill materia?
Dude, that wasn't sarcasm. I laughed at that. Get a grip, okay?Quote:

[q=PhoenixAsh]Random riddle about stuff :D[/q]
edit: Hey, there are riddles here!
FFVII.
1. Tifa's Beat Rush - You can "beat" enemies with this "rush".
2. Ultima - Magic Materia Ultima, Ultima Weapon, Ultimate Weapon.
3. I don't know what's first on the list in the equipment menu, but I'll go with Buster Sword, since it's Cloud's first weapon and he's the main character, so ha.
4. Underwater Materia - removes time limit vs. Emerald.
Is this what you're looking for? If so, I think you'll have to be more obscure if this type of riddle is to continue.
Phoenix Ash's riddle is way too hard, I'm outta here, laterz
If I interpret correctly, I think FFVII isn't the correct answer.
Hmm... this one will take much pondering.
Take care all.
Is it FFT? You can get a materia as a treasure item... or something...
princeofdarknez did well in as far as he got, though at least one part was wrong. I did think you'd have more respect for my riddles by now though, as as The Captain has spotted it's not that simple.
Grover don't be so scared of my riddles, they are answerable.
yeah, right
*grins* Doomsday if you're gonna use Big D's nuggets of wisdom in your answers at least use them in context and not because it's all you can think of :D.
Okay I'll give a hint, the answer is NOT FFVII, but materia is found in FFVII, so you're gonna have to find a new way to get the answer to the riddle.
Phoenix Ash, I officially hate you. :p
Jeez I actually made this riddle EASIER than I was gonna because I wanted to try a new style quite quickly. POD wasn't wrong to think what he did was overly easy because that's deliberate, he just didn't read my first post properly (or ignored it), and didn't quite get what he did do right.
I do know that was in jest by the way, but seriously so many people are just assuming they can't solve these and not trying properly.
Anyway I've given far too many hints, so I'll leave you to it for now.
No, I'm trying. Trust me. I'm just lost at the moment. :frust:
Strange - I did read your post and all of it, but apparently I still missed something (probably that it's straightforward :)). I also wasn't sure if that was what you were looking for or not, and if it was, well, then I would have been very right, very quickly, now wouldn't I? ;) I didn't mean to show lack of respect for your riddles either, I just thought that if I was that right that easily, then I should provide some constructive input for you. *shruggles*
Anyways, the riddle.
You might win the fight with this kind of Rush. (Bum or Angelo Rush)
A magic, a sword and an enemy aswell. (Atma or Ultima)
First on the list in an equipment menu. (I have to be taking this too literally - no disrespect, but I don't think you know either :p)
A materia that gives you as long as you need. (Underwater, what else could be it?)
Let's try applying FFVI. In this case, the first line refers to Bum Rush or Moogle Rush. If it was FFVIII, then the reference would be to Angelo Rush.
The second one can't be Atma, on second thought, because Atma is not a magic in the game. (It does mean "soul", so metaphorically it could be magic, but even then, there are only two instances of Atma in FFVI...) It can't be Ragnarok, because although it could be a sword or an Esper, it isn't an enemy?
You know, I notice your punctuation is non-standard in line 2 - you should have a comma after "a sword". If this is intentional (I wouldn't put it past you :D), then I would say the Magic refers to (something I haven't figured out yet - I guess Ultima since it's the most prominent magic in the game) and the "a sword and an enemy" refers to Atma.
If it was FFVIII - I would have to go with the idea of Lionheart or Griever or something - because Griever is an enemy and Lionheart is a sword. The "magic" could be the GF Griever or Ultimecia summoning or something like that related to it.
The third line... damn. Like I said, I'm sure I'm thinking of this too literally. Potion? :D
The fourth line... Underwater removes the limit to fighting Emerald. So it gives you all the time you need to fight or beat Emerald. Transpose to other games. Where else do you fight or beat a gem? FFIX comes to mind when thinking of Emeralds as gems and stuff... but it doesn't gel with anything else in the riddle. FFVI, you fight Espers that get reduced to Magicite, which are gems. You also fight Tritoch, which is enclosed in ice, which is kinda like a gem. If it was FFVIII, I don't know.
Well, a deceptively easy riddle you've put together, Phoenix. Well done. :)
OOC: I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THE FFVIII RIDDLES THREAD!!! I put an easy one in there. Sorry! :(
Thats what I've been saying the whole timeQuote:

Also the bit you seemed to have missed was that I wanted you to name a game.
The punctuation in line two isn't relevant, it's just the way I tend to punctuate, though I was impressed at your logic there :D.
Okay I may not be back for a couple of days, but I'll try my hardest to. Here's one last hint, theres a reason you managed to get such specific answers to the lines that you got. I don't make things easy for the hell of it :D.
Damnit Pheonix... Why must you always make us suffer
I did forget to mention a game, huh? :exdee: Well, I should have stated FFVIII. That's what happens when I ramble on about trying to solve stuff - I post my reasoning and forget a conclusion. :p Oh well.
Doomsday's response, if correct, would mean that the incorrect part of my first guess would be the last line - instead of being Underwater materia, it would be, by his logic, GF summons that give you enough time to Boost.
I think the third line refers to Junctioning, because in the menu, Junction is first.
So yeah, just restating Doomsday's stuff here. Good work, I think.
1. Angelo Rush. Hell, it could be Zell's Punch Rush too.
2. Ultima (the whole no-sword thing explained by Doomsday - fits w/my punctuation idea, even though it's wrong :p)
3. Junctioning
4. GF summons
FFVIII.
One thing still bothers me - this is still just treating it as four riddles in one, which Phoenix said there's more to it than that. There's a reason why it wasn't difficult to obtain specific answers...
It should bother you. I do like the logic you're both using as it's fairly creative, but it's going completely in the wrong direction. I've said the lines are meant to be easy, and I said POD's first post was very good. I'll probably give the answer soon as it's gone on too long for this type of riddle, never mind I'll just find a new style again.
Okay - I'm going to guess that although each line refers to something from FFVII, when these references are put together, they yield a game that is not FFVII. That's the only way my first post can be more correct than my subsequent posts, and yet have FFVII not be the answer.
You might win the fight with this kind of Rush. Beat Rush
A magic, a sword and an enemy aswell. Ultima
First on the list in an equipment menu. ***
A materia that gives you as long as you need Underwater
***: This is probably the line I got wrong the first time. In the Item menu, Potion is first. In an equipment menu, depending on which character it is, their initial equipment is listed first, I think. I don't have FFVII on me right now to verify this. Someone wanna fill this in?
I'll try and put the remaining three parts together and answer FFVI.
Beat Rush is a type of Limit Break. The concept was first introduced as Desperation attacks in FFVI. Ultima appeared first in FFVI. And underwater fighting appeared for the first time in the FFVI's Serpent Trench. (Fighting on ships was in NES games, and traveling underwater was in FFV, but fighting underwater was not until FFVI).
If no one gets it, maybe you could supply the logic to the riddle and its answer, and we'll decide whether it works or not. :p
Okay I'm bored of this riddle now, so I'm giving it to POD for getting closest.
You might win the fight with this kind of Rush. (Beat)
A magic, a sword and an enemy aswell. (Ultima)
First on the list in an equipment menu. (Weapon)
A materia that gives you as long as you need. (Underwater)
---> Beat Ultima Weapon Underwater, a feat achieved in FFVIII. I did say the lines gave specific answers for a reason, and noone even attempted to say anything that was actually in an equipment menu rather than an item menu.
Tricky and very clever. Excellent riddle to say the least.
Take care all.
[q=Phoenix]...and noone even attempted to say anything that was actually in an equipment menu rather than an item menu.[/q]
[q=me]3. I don't know what's first on the list in the equipment menu, but I'll go with Buster Sword, since it's Cloud's first weapon and he's the main character, so ha.[/q]
I see how it fits - "Weapon" was too general for me to catch on, apparently. And if I stopped thinking about line 1 as "Beat Rush" and just "Beat" instead, I think I could have gotten it. Well done.
I can't think of any good ones, so back at you, Phoenix.
*cries* nooooooooo
Agreed. Now wow us with another stumper.Quote:

ok heres one while we wait
A town with a pirates base
which is linked to another AH
located on the sea
where I should not be
CLUE: Boss in FFVIII
Where am I?
Hehe, thanks everyone for the praise. It's getting pretty hard to keep coming up with good riddles but I guess I'll try another...
Rinoa is found murdered in a hotel room, all the witnesses are too scared to come forward, so the only suspects are rounded up for questioning, they each give a different version of events. One of them killed her, but which one and explain how you know...
Squall: I was standing outside the front of the hotel waiting for Rinoa when someone knocked me down and stole some materia I'd found. When I got up I saw someone running out in a cloak, and I heard a load of screaming, I can't believe this has actually happened.
Steiner: I was walking past the hotel when I saw Squall running out of it and I heard a lot of people start shouting. I went in and saw Yuffie and Reno leaving through the back door together.
YuffIe: I was watching from the Highwind through binoculars because there were rumours of disturbances in the area. I didn't have a great view but I think I saw a man running out of the hotel, there definately wasn't anyone outside.
Reno: I was nowhere near the hotel when any of this happened, I have no idea what went on.
Dagger: Yeah me and Rinoa were hanging out in her hotel room, we had an arguement over Squall, it was nothing too serious but she got worked up and attacked me. She didn't mean to but she cut my head quite badly and I ran out hoping she would calm down. I saw Steiner in the lobby so I quickly ducked out the back. Funny now I think of it, why was it left open, and why was there a car outside?
Okay this isn't very good, and it might not work, but it's late and I'm trying to keep things new. Whether this get's answered or not I'll let someone else go because I take up way too much of the questioning in this thread.
EDIT: Didn't see Grover's, umm... I think it's fairer if whoever answer's mine gets it just because that's the order (that's not actually me wanting mine to be more important it just seems logical), but as Grover's was a bonus one theres no reason not to run them both at once. If noone gets mine it can then just go to whoever gets his. Sounds the simplest solution to me, but if it doesn't seem fair then whatever.
Heehee, I'm glad that it wasn't answered in one, but I'm just as glad that it wasn't completely away from the right answer. This is a little more complicated than that, but that wasn't a bad first stab.
I haven't beem here for a while...I'll say Reno for a random guess!!

OOC: Just would like to say, great job at being original and making this tired thread a little more interesting Phoenix. My hat's off to you.
As for the killer, well, I saw it all, but I'll never tell you! :eep:
It has to be Reno, he probably pulled up in his CAR, knocked Squall out, and killed Rinoa, this reminds me of an episode of Case Closed
Thanks again for the praise, it's good to know my efforts are appreciated :D. Okay I'm not gonna say when people guess the right killer because there are only five options.
Doomsday you've applied bits of the right thinking in both your attempts. I don't want this riddle to go on to long so it doesn't get tired so I'll give a few hints of hints.
Just because you aren't the killer doesn't mean you never lie. I try not to put a riddle up that doesn't require at least SOME FF knowledge. There's a reason for pretty much everything everyone says.
Okay that's quite a lot of hints so I want a pretty full answer, I'll reveal the culprit tonight or tomorrow depending on the momentum of the thread.
Am I right in assuming that the killer is not Steiner, Reno or Yuffie?
Take care all.
Steiner also perhaps lied to protect Garnet. I think you've got it.
Take care all.
The killer could be ANY of the five suspects I'm saying nothing. Again Doomsday applying another element to answering the riddle but sadly losing some earlier thinking. I'll give it a bit more time as Doomsday is doing well just in broken steps, and if he's getting frustrated then PoD still hasn't arrived.
Actually come to think of it why isn't anyone else guessing?
Okay I'll give one more hint, I put in a twist to make things a bit harder, but bear in mind pretty much everything is important.
Thinking out loud here... That 'materia stolen' smells like Yuffie... Since Squall was waitin for Rinoa who was IN the hotel, it's unlilemly who knocked him down came out of the hotel. Question: Is Squall SURE the one who knocked him down is the thief. Did he lose consiousness?Quote:

HER story doesn't mesh with Squall either, as Squall says he was waiting outside. Of course, she'd have an interest in making Squall look bad if she stoke his materia.Quote:
YuffIe: I was watching from the Highwind through binoculars because there were rumours of disturbances in the area. I didn't have a great view but I think I saw a man running out of the hotel, there definately wasn't anyone outside.
Problem with Steiner of course.Quote:
Reno: I was nowhere near the hotel when any of this happened, I have no idea what went on.
Hmmm, Did Yuffie and Reno perhaps meant to steal Squall's materia and rush away? Which would give someone else a way to make them look suspicious. But I wonder why, if Squall speaks the truth, Steiner would lie about him. Unless Squall lies, in which case he could be the killer....Quote:
Dagger: Yeah me and Rinoa were hanging out in her hotel room, we had an arguement over Squall, it was nothing too serious but she got worked up and attacked me. unless... Garnet and Rinoa having an argument about Squall? Was Squall perhaps in a 'comprimising' situation with Garnet, ran out of the hotel when Rinoa came in and the screaming started, was knocked down by Yuffie and Reno and had his materia stolen (without knowing i was them) while in the meantime Garnet and Rinoa fought with Garnet killing Rinoa, and then trying to escape trying to get the blame on Yuffie and Reno who escaped by car. (since Steiner would have seen them?)
Rreading Doomsday I agree there is perhaps a point to his words... Squall Materia? Which means that it's a conspiracy between him, Garnet and Steiner to frame Yuffie and Reno. On the other hand, Yuffie reeally would NOT be on that airship...
Head... hurts...
(fun how we BOTH had the 'Squall the cheating boyfriend at the same time eh?)
Don't double post, just use the Edit button, that's why it's there.
Rand Al'Tor did VERY well in a lot of that, But I'm not giving the answer just yet.
This is a mixed story, Squall is perfectly okay to have materia so don't read into that.
I'll give the actual story in a couple more guesses.
Hmm.... possibility... Garnet didn't do it, Steiner did. After all, Garnet got wounded quite severely. If Steiner saw Garnet come out of Rinoa's room with a headwound... well... He wouldn't SAY he saw Garnet because that would draw suspicion on him.He wouldn't even need to lie. He DID see Reno and Yuffie and he DID see Squall. Squall ran out before and got smacked by Yuffie and Reno, who then fled through the backdoor
one truth prevails on the next episode of Case Closed! The FF Murder Part 2
*Clap*, almost a perfect answer. Okay this is complicated, but heres as much of the logic that I remember.
Important things to note:
Yuffie HAD to be lieing, she couldn't have been near the edge let alone looking down.
But if Yuffie did it, why would Squall see someone running out of the FRONT of the hotel, while Steiner saw Yuffie leave out of the back.
If Dagger is telling the truth why was the back door wedged open and what was the car there for?
If Squall is telling the truth, who took his materia? Whoever did it couldn't have had time to go into the Hotel, kill Rinoa and leave in a cloak. Espescially as there are four suspects all placed in the hotel and noone describes anything like that.
If Squall is telling the truth, Steiner isn't.
I think theres more, but I forget, so heres the actual sequence of events:
Dagger tells the truth exactly as it is, she argues with Rinoa and leaves through the back door.
Yuffie and Reno (purely there as a job) plot to steal Squall's materia, Reno brings the car and wedges the door open while Yuffie takes it from Squall and runs THROUGH the hotel. They both lie to cover their tracks.
Steiner sees Dagger leave Rinoa's room wounded and also sees Reno and Yuffie leave through the back door. He goes in and kills Rinoa in rage, then leaves through the FRONT door and is seen by Squall, who tells the whole truth. Steiner lies about Squall to cover his own tracks.
So pretty damn close Rand Al'Tor your turn :D. Glad that went so well, I was worried about doing a riddle like that.
Good work Rand Al'Tor!
Take care all.
what about this?Quote:

The second part is the first part of one of the first darknesses, who was there long before the likes Seifer, Rufus, Kuja and and Seymour and whose fear-inspiring words are remembered and occasionally mocked for their inadequate translation.
The third part is but one letter, but it is the end of what in many final fantasies is the messenger of evil, the final form where wickedness takes flight.
The fourth part is the first part of a beast that replaced a beard and a bird.
The final part is one of those 'you often end a word with them' thingies, and it's bloody 2 AM here... I'm going to bed...
But before I forget, the whole is something that can return hope when defeat seems only a hair-breath away.
Are we spelling a word by figuring out the letters? I assume at least one of the letters is "X".
Also, I think the next riddle, regardless of who answers it, should be Grover's since he did post it and has been waiting patiently. Just a guess Grover, but Fisherman's Horizon?
Take care all.
wrong game, Captain
Lindblum? (The tantalas, airships, can't make out the rest)
Grover, what did you mean by this hint:
"CLUE: Boss in FFVIII" ?
Are you saying the answer has something to do with a boss from FFVIII?
Take care all.
Looks like I missed a bunch of good riddles (bunch = 1?). My internet was down the past few days; glad I was missed in a weird sort of way (feels special :p). Anyways, on to business...

Mega Phoenix.
1. Me - Cloud, FFVII with Tifa.
2. Ga - Garland, from the first FF.
3. F ~ Ph - "F"inal boss or whatever, I guess
4. Oen - Griffon? Not really sure.
5. Suffix - take the "ix".
Honestly, the "whole" hint gave it all away, and then I saw the rest fall in place. Unsure of 3 and 4, though.

Rand Al'Tor, Megalixer
1) Me
2) Ga (Both as PoD said)
3) L (Kinda lost here)
4) ix (as in Ixion who replaced Ramuh and Valefor as the lightning summon)
5) er (just er)
Grover I think Daguerros (I can't remember the spelling) from FFIX, the clue revolves around the four-armed man.
A town with a pirates base (I haven't played IX in ages, I can't even remember pirates)
which is linked to another AH (He needs something from the Auction House in Treno I believe)
located on the sea (It's on an Isand)
where I should not be (He leaves once you learn his name)
Where am I?
CLUE: Boss in FFVIII (His name is Gilgamesh I think, as in Odin's replacement during the Seifer fight)
Though I'm suspiscious of this answer, I have a feeling it's actually from pre-FFVII.
[QUOTE=PhoenixAsh]Rand Al'Tor, Megalixer
CORRECT! The missing ones are 'angel' (as many bosses take an angelic form, henc ethe 'evil takes flight', and 'messenger')Quote:

Ixion is correct, but the bird referred to Quetzacotl (all lightning summons)
Ugh, I had meant that it was Quetzacotl just got muddled. I'll leave the next riddle to whoever gets Grover's, time for me to give other people a chance for a while methinks.
It relates to FFVIII, but not directly, and all of you are on the wrong FF
