Yeah, online stores sell them today because with shipping they will get to the customer by tomorrow at the earliest. That way they are technically still selling the game the day it comes out.
I just pray that it comes with accuracy and different levels of difficulty
O, tomorrow. How I long for you.
Tomorrow, I want to be inside of you.
I know who that final boss is..some guy spoiled it for me..
It is (SPOILER)Zeromus' sprite that was used in the Japanese Easy Type
I expected something a little different...
DGemu has the japanese rom up of FFIV advance... I think i'm gonna test it out, FYI, I looked at the screenshots, Cecil looks very different and the Float Eye things have more shading. So it is an update...
Tomorrow is here!
This maybe a frequently asked question already, but does it have the porno book?
Final Fantasy IS porn.
*walks behind closed doors.*
Damn Gamestop, they don't get their shipment in until this afternoon and I have work right after that...I think I'll go bug them right now until they pull a copy out of their ass or something.
Yeah, I have to go to the mall to talk to the cell phone folks so I think I'll swing by EB and see if they have any in. If not Gamestop and Target are on the way home.
Anyone lend me $40 CAD so I can buy the game? >_>
Erm, I mean...
I hope those who manage to buy it today have loads of fun. xD Cursed lack of job and being poor. I might not even be able to get it before sometimes in January.
Why wouldn't you just download it?
My preodered copy won't come in till tomorrow:(
When I find an English rom, I might. I doubt there won't be any around for a couple of days. ;o
Downloading a port kind of defeats the purpose of the port. I mean, sure there are new features, but the real charm is being able to play Final Fantasy IV on the go.
I'd say the new content rather edges out the portability, useful as it is. I especially wouldn't wait until January to play the game for the sake of being able to carry it around.
Cruising the the game store now.
There's already one, which I managed to get thanks to a certain admin here. :)Quote:

The "intro" scene which plays if you leave the main screen (with New Game and Load Game) on almost makes the remake all worth it already, IMHO. :)
The script is well done, being mostly retranslated, though some lines are directly from the PSX version (such as the King telling Kain, "You insolent cur! How dare you barge in here!?"). I haven't reached the "Spoony bard" scene yet, but I'll probably report about that later. There's also a bit of changes, maybe due to censorship or some system's limitation. For example, (SPOILER)the dancer in Baron Village doesn't take off any of her clothes anymore. IIRC, the characters also swear more in PSX, while in GBA, the only thing I remember is Cecil shouting "Damnation!" during the opening scene.
The loading times, thank goodness, are very good. The game looks as if it lagged a bit at times, but it doesn't really slow down, and the battles and menus all load up quite fast and smoothly. The battles are also amazingly fast-paced and end quickly even with the 3rd highest battle speed (default). Oh, and the default config setting is to have Auto-Dash on, and that way, you can't walk even by holding the cancel button. I decided to remove that and disable the Auto-Dash, so when I want to run, I'll just hold the cancel button. :) Anyway, FFIV Advance seems pretty good so far, not suffering from a lousy script and a watered down battle system (FFII SNES), over-the-top cussing scenes (the fan translation of FFIV SNES) or loading times (FFIV PSX). Hopefully the high quality of the remake will stay throughout the game.
So does anyone know if it's as difficult as the Chronicles version, or if it is easier?
Well, I got it today, I've been playing it on and off all day. I am now about to go after the Dark Elf in the Toria area. I am very happy with this remake/port. I have been playing it on my Game Boy Player. Some retuned music is better than the original (Red Wing's theme/normal battle music) while others are just odd (Mysidia/Serpent Path theme). The rest I have heard I pretty much think are on par with the original game soundtrack.
Like Sephiroth1999A.D. said, the battles seem faster paced. I am going to have to fight for money, as the doubling trick is GONE (no more multiple excaliburs either)! Also, it does seem a bit laggy, but it's not a big deal.
If you are any kind of fan of FFIV, you will love this remake!
I was just killed by a Zu outside of Mysidia because I had 54 hp and thought i'd live against an attack and well... Guess what, he hit me for 54 damage and i have to restart on the mountain to Fabul because I never save when playing ROMs. I want to cry.
I'm stopping for tonight. I'm at Troia. This rocks. More to come.

I only just got Rydia last night in Kaipo, but I'm loving it just as much as everyone else. I have to agree that the intro movie before you get to the main screen(New Game, Continue, etc...) is awesome. The fights do seem faster paced and I'm enjoying the subtler graphics and music.
Yes, this is what the people want.
Thank you Square-Enix.
Picked up my copy today
I love how they remixed the music and gave the graphics a huge overhaul. I'm ready to fight Octomammoth now
Just finished the battles at Fabul. I'd say the game is easier then the PS1 version. The monsters aren't as fast and the crew is turning them to dust in no time.
It was funny how (SPOILER)Tellah's first line in the battle against Edward was "You spoony bard!" He just went to attack Edward and yelled that. In the original FF"II" SNES, he at least said several things before saying the spoony bard line. His lines after that were stuff like "Die!" and "Shut up!"
I'll enter the Antlion's cave next. Everyone seems to be playing the game a lot faster than I. Maybe because many have more time than I. I've played it for only about 2 hours and 25 minutes so far.
EDIT: Oh, and I think SE gave Tellah level 1 spells since his Fire/Ice/Bolt only take 5 MP. I think this is a good addition. Although Fire2/Ice2/Bolt2 are stronger, they take so much MP that Tellah runs out of MP after at most 5 spell casts.
Yeah I noticed that too. Just like how they did with FF I&II DoSQuote:

I don't feel that they hit hard. The most damge I've seen them do is 20
They hit a little harder later on. I've seen 50+ damage on a few characters, thankfully not on Edward.Quote:

Not that it changed the story or anything, but it was fun to do. In this version, though, Cain's jump attack never misses and will drain Cecil's HP in short order even if he's at Level 99. Curiously, the same isn't true of the Yang fight in Baron.
I haven't had much time to play it today, but I am glad to see that you are enjoying the game! I am about to go to the Tower of Zot, myself!
I can't wait to get ahold of this game. I read an article on it yesterday, and it said that you now get to CHOOSE who accompanies you to the final battle. I started dancing when I read this, then realized I was in a grocery store and sat down.
I've just beat the Giant of Babil, and now can get my secondary 5 characters their hidden weapons in the first hidden dungeon. What I'm really interested about is the second dungeon once the game is completed.
I just landed on the Moon. Nine hours gameplay time, level forty for everyone. Curious as to who the bonus boss at the end of the Lunar Ruins is, and nobody on the internet seems to know.
Well, I know that you have to beat the game to get to it. I have all my minor characters secret weapons, and I'm going to switch out some people. Yang is gonna replace Edge. and Cid is replacing Kain. Hammer rocks.
I already know who the end boss is. Anyway, im going to America soon with my dad, and im gonna try and get my brother this game for christmas (Dad will pay of course)
You wont beleive how much Andreil wants it :rolleyes2
I've arrived at the last dungeon. Well, here's how it is. If you don't want to know of how the secret dungeon works, don't read this.
Lunarian Dungeon
Every 5 floors is a special sections with a door you have to enter. Through the door is a place that can only open if you have the correct member in your party. So far I've finished Rydia's and Rosa's two places.
Now, your entire party goes with thim however. At the end of the place is a Lunarian Summon monster, kind of like the dark aeons. After killing them, you get an item for the character as well as an item that summons that monster once and only once causing 9999 hp damage. Not really worth it, however, I do want to see the final boss. I read who it was earlier, but I want to see if it's gonna be all that hard.
I beat the game in the low level 50s late 40s with some ease. I don't think it's as difficult as the Playstation version.
I want to experience all the areas with the new music and graphics, and see the new translation.
The extras are a bonus
I love how FF IV came with this propanganda :)

Guess it's official :D
Yes, Like I keep saying...
Be a good Square and release all your other SNES RPGs on GBA!
Final Fantasy,
Final Fantasy II,
Final Fantasy III,
Final Fantasy IV,
Final Fantasy V,
Final Fantasy VI,
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest,
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance,
Chrono Trigger,
Star Ocean,
Bahamut Lagoon,
Sword of Mana (Seiken Densetsu?)
The rest of the Mana/Seiken Densetsu series
With all these on GBA, I would be in portable gaming heaven!
Oh, and about Tales of Phantasia...I'll do a Sephex
*Head explodes*
Cool, thats awesome, Phantasia on GBA, Eternia on PSP
EDIT: Im sure its Eternia on PSP, or is it Rebirth?
I doubt the GBA could handle games like Chrono Trigger, Bahamut Lagoon, or Seiken Densetsu 3 without serious downgrading them. In fact, I have no idea how they're going to pull off the FFVI remake.
They kept "You spoony bard!".
That is the only thing I need to know to think it will rock. I will download it NOW.
No, you're right. It's EterniaQuote:

Yeah, I don't know either.
I'm quite sure Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI advance will all use the same engine, therefore V and VI will likely look very similar to how IV does. Personally, I think IV advance looks almost as good as VI did on SNES, it's just that the style is a bit different...but man, areas like Narshe...I'm really anxious to see how they pull it off as well.
God, and Chrono Trigger for GBA would literally be a dream come true.
I could see them getting all the graphics right if they seriously pushed the GBA, but there's still no getting around a downgrade in musical quality.
Yeah...it's a shame to lose quality on one of the best game soundtracks ever composed, although I have to admit I am completely satisfied with the way they made IV Advance sound.
So am I, but FFIV was an early SNES game. That's why they had such an easy time improving the graphics (although they're still disappointing), and the same more or less goes for the music. For later SNES games like FFVI, they won't have any leeway; I can only see them struggling to reach the quality of the original format.
Hopefully the year or so between the releases of FFIV and FFVI will give them enough time to futher what they can do with a GBA cart, compression technologies, etc...
I think they dumped most of the WSC version in this version. They took some time to convert things to GBA...ness, but not enough. If this is true, there is hope for FFVI losing little quality.
I'm lazy right now so if that made no sense, I'm sorry.
Does that make me even more lazy if it made sense?

Im sure Square will pull it off somehow, I was amazed with DoS, with the graphics and sound. Likewise, im sure FFIV Advance will blow me away when I play it. I quite enjoyed the music in DoS, it was almost the same as the FF Origins OST, minus the orchestra sound, and almost all the tunes were the exact same (To me that is)
Im quite sure the GBA has a lot more power that can be squeezed out of it.
Just now, the final strike that killed Zeromus was with Edward's harp. What a great game.
Err…what the hell happened to Demon Wall? I swear he was hard in the original version…
EDIT: And why is it taking such a God awful time for that smithy to forge my Excalibur!?
When I did that quest, I went right downstairs and talked to the smithy. He finished my sword in the time it took me to go down the stairs. o_OQuote:

Lunar Odin and Lunar Bahamut are so freaking hard it makes my eyeballs bleed. The "hidden" boss was a cakewalk though. Easier than Zeromus, I thought.
Ive been playing it nonstop since ToD gave me the ROM, im just doing the Sealed Cave now..
I love the new music in the game, but the item drops are ridicoulous! What is it, 0.000000000001 percent chance of dropping it? Edge's Steal command is still pathetic, took an hour to steal a useless Lamia Harp!
Its a lot easier too.
I just made it to the party selection section and the hidden dungeon. Wowza, they sure don't want you to use the secondary characters do they?
I was really hoping they would have made it so you didn't HAVE to have 2 or 3 people in the back row. I still don't get that, though I guess it makes sense that you can't have a back row without a front row...........argh I'm confused.
Anyways, EDWARD ROCKS (not really).
Anyone know where the assassin dagger is? He needs a decent weapon.
I just beat the Lunar Ruins. Lunar Odin and Lunar Bahamut weren't that hard at all. I only died once against Bahamut because I forgot that I had light curtains with me (this is the only time I died throughout the whole game). The extra last boss was cool. I know where they got that sprite from. Anyway, whoa...what a great port/remake! I'll post a mini review of the game next time I have the chance to come here!
Lunar Curtains...I never thought to use those. >_>
Most people never get much of them, anyway.Quote:

When you level up yor party, do the ones at the tower level up too? If they do, that will screw up the Level 70+ Level ups thing..
I just got my party members back, and man, its cool to see Edward on level 53..
Right now, I'm on the moon outside of Fusoya's Castle trying to make Rydia learn Thundaga
Just completed the Cave of Trials (Lol, Star Ocean reference..)
Edward is kicking ass now!
Me too, I got all the equipment and the five weapons...Quote:

Edward: Heal is still useless, as for Sing. But 2500 damage from the back row? Yes, please!
Cid: Not as good as Edward (wtf? XD) but he sure packs a punch with Thor Hammer... o_o
Yang: Bleh. *ditches*
Edward is now Confirmed for my final party...good thing im in the Spoony Bard gang then eh?
The one thing I dont like about Palom/Porom is that their MP is lower than Rosa/Rydia...
They should have made it so that Heal can use Hi Potions and X Potions..
Anyway, I found Cid to be most useless of the five, due to his utter lack of Evade..his high HP means nothing...
Edge seems lacking as always, as with Kain, and Yang is useful as always, its just his magic stats that really suck, they screw up his Multipliers
Strange... my Palom and my Porom have just about the same MP of Rydia and Rosa... and they have better magics earlier to make up for that, I think o-o
And Yang doesn't deal enough damage with me, and Power charges longer than Meteor. And THAT is saying something, because Rydia can usa three Titans before one Meteor. @_@
EDIT:
Can someone please tell me how does Lunar Odin smurfing DIES? T_T
So is the Developer's Room in there?
yesQuote:

okay...what is with the Zeromus EG? he has the same pallete as the japanese easy type zeromus... he wasnt as hard as i expected. i beat him with cecil, palom (the white mage one, i always mix up their names), yang, cid, and gilbert, but he died anyway.
i cant kill lunar odin either. i really want lightbringer!! ive completed the mt. ordeals thing, and rydias, rosas, cids, yangs, and the twins trials. edges is a pain in the ass...
i love the surreal "your in a cave one floor, a city the next" dungeons! reminds me of the whisperwind cove. (and the extra weapons/armor rock too!)
but one thing: what do the twin stars do? i thought they made twin cast meteor? i dunno what they do exactly...
i love the lunar ruins:love: :D
I just got it for Christmas. I'm just now in Antlion's Den.
Is it just me, or has the drop rate increased? I spent twelve hours outside of Baron with Cain and Cecil waiting for a damn Helldiver to drop a Cocatrice summon. That was a bitch.
Beat the game last night and I'm doing the lunar ruins now. Yang's Trial was fun to do and Lunar Titan was easy to beat. I'm doing rydia's Trial now
Yeah... Me too, the only character's trial I've done so far is Rydia's. I love that they made the Lunar Ruins appear right beneath the Cydonia moai.
just finished Kain's trial and it was my last trial. Can I still continue to the end of the lunar ruins even though I haven't unlocked the trials for Edge, Edward, Palom, Porom and Cid yet?
Yeah, you don't have to do all the trials to go all the way.
*dances*
I finally bought FFIV Advance today, brand spankin' new... it's less than 5 hours old and I've only played 20 mins as of now. And even though I've played through FFIV Hard Type, I'm going to cry when it's sad and play into the night with my SP screen's blinding light killing my eyes. ^_^ FFIV is my favorite FF.
Anyway, changes I've noticed. Character names can be longer by a letter, the pictures of the characters are right there by when they speak... and I'm mad about one thing. Besides that the game's beginning felt easier and they changed Vivalis' name: Back in the original, the pheniox downs are called 'life'. So when my brother said once that Cecil "needed a life" and I found a life in a treasure chest about five seconds later... yeah, talk about making a little 12 year old mad.
I just got Rydia and I'm leveling her up before I go where I meet Tellah.
I could have bought it the day it came out, I happened to be in the store. But I don't want the game, also... WHAT?! So Life's are called Pheonix Down's now... how does that make somebody mad...
Did you not read my post? My brother was mad at the fact that he said Cecil needed a life and I found and item called a life in the same minute he said that! ...damn.Quote:

You have the option of trading party members after you've defeated the Giant of Babil by going to the Wishing Tower place in Mysidia. They are all leveled up, but have the same equipment as when you left them. And sorry, but I'm nearly positive that you can only get Cid, Yang, Palom, Porom, and Edward, unless only my game doesn't have Tellah, which I doubt. :)
does anyone know if the copy trick still works? I cant seem to get it to work, but i may just be doing it wrong.
unfortunately, the weapon duplication bug isnt in this version.:(Quote:

I enjoyed it. Replay is about nil, but the fact that they revised the script is a big plus.
