It's not the Glow Lance.
Not Final Heaven.
It's not over yet.
cloud21zidane16 and Darth Tjador are both on the right track.

Is it an ultimate weapon?
Keeping in mind that the letter C is significant, I'll guess Conformer. I think it was found in the underwater plane wreck, so it's not like you've been there before, but might as well guess.
Oh ok so maybe it's Cloud's Ultima weapon since his name starts with a C? If you don't see Ultima Weapon just wait until Cid's theme is playing on the world map is I think when he first appears.
Yuffie's ultimate weapon starts with a c, conformer, but that doesn't seem to fit the riddle since as soon as you get the sub you can get it, and you don't have access to the area beforehand.
Maybe since Cid starts with C, it's his ultimate weapon. I think the old guy gives it to you by the rocket. Oh yeah you have to talk to him a bunch of times so it kinda fits the riddle, and also if he gives you the Yoshiyuki, you have to wait until there's no rocket to "see," then you get the Venus Gospel.
Is it the Chocobo Ranch?(been a while don't make fun of me if it's a stupid answer) Or the Stat Dude in the cave?
I thought the 'C' (see) meant... 'catch'. "If you don't catch what you want,"
Oohh, it's not the Mega All materia inside the Northern Cave, where you have to catch it as you're jumping from one rock to another, is it?
The Pile Banger and Master Fist from the Shinra item shop?
i think thats wrong though because on the first visit you did want them but the woman at the till stopped you:mad:
It's not the Conformer.
Not the Venus Gospel.
Your answers are not stupid, they just aren't the correct ones.
Not Mega All
We have a winner! :D
The answer is the second floor item shop in Shinra HQ building. The first time you can go in is if you opt to do a frontal assault on the building (for those in a hurry). Both items are in chests but the sales clerk refuses to let you open them. So your second chance is in the invasion of Midgar (come back later).
Perhaps a picture would explain the C and see better than words.
Anyways, your go, cloud21zidane16! :)
phew!! finally lol, okay im not sure if this is good
Since you began
Ive been held by four
But used only twice
I was once important
I can no longer be used
The Keystone to the Temple of The Ancients?
Since you began
Ive been held by four
Weapon Maker, Dio, Yourself and Tseng
But used only twice
By Tseng and Yourself
I was once important
I can no longer be used
Literal.
i think u got it lol
So, let's see the next one.
Let's hope it's not as easily solved as my last one ;)
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between
I will put you to a test
in favour of the green
But I'll help you too, don't fret!
A heaven's grant might be of use
Aggregate power you will get
You haven't got much to lose!
So come on, warrior, heed the call!
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall
there is no need to fear.
The rhythm between the stanzas is a bit off but it'll do.
Battle Arena
Comet's answer sounds precisely around the right lines.
I realize it does, but it's quite far off. :)
Emerald Weapon
Ruby Weapon
Not any of the WEAPONs.
sounds like somewhere where there isn't a shop and u can't rest, and is an optionally part of the journey. i'm gonna guess (once again!) it#s the guy in the house near gold saucer that gives you great gospel
It's not the weapon maker. However, your first sentence is accurate.
Oh ok maybe it's either the forest near cosmo canyon or maybe the gelnika.
Neither.
Oooh ooh is it the sleeping man near junon? If not...does it get you a materia? "In favour of the green" does that mean a materia, or just benefiting the world? Fort Condor, maybe? Heavens grant might also be a materia, but i think it's more summon materia. So, either a summon materia which helps the environment, or a green materia, which doesn't really. As to the last verse...Comet materia? It's found in City of the Ancients, in a room you don't have to visit, but i think it gets blocked off after Aeris dies...maybe i'm wrong, idk.
Is it the little um... pointy hand thing you can make appear above Cloud's head?
No.
Neither, actually ;)
"Heaven's grant" does not refer to a materia and the Comet materia is not referred to. Your speculation was good, but the riddle is a bit more literate, mostly. Only one line in the riddle is fully metaphorical.
It's not the Position Marker.
Green Beret
I have never heard of anything called Green Beret in Final Fantasy VII. Either way, it's not the right answer.
IT HAS TO BE KARL MALONE!
Uhh...is it the pagoda where Yuffie fights in Wutai?
Fort Condor battle guy?
No arms I provide, no rest (the beds and shop are downstairs)
I'm an option in between (The ladder upstairs is literally between them)
I will put you to a test (The battles)
in favour of the green (You have to pay, or at least can)
But I'll help you too, don't fret! (You get reinforcements)
A heaven's grant might be of use (Ummm... I'm guessing a specific unit?)
Aggregate power you will get (Again the reinforcements)
You haven't got much to lose! (Well you don't)
So come on, warrior, heed the call! (It is about fighting, this may also be a clarion call reference)
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall (Not sure why thrice, but before death's peace is presumably before the Condor dies, after which you can't fight)
there is no need to fear. (You can't die in the battle?)
Oooh, is it the Kalm Traveller?
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between (He lives between the inn and the shops, if I remember correctly)
I will put you to a test (You have to find the items he wants)
in favour of the green (I think he does it so he can travel, or possibly this means he wants items rather than money)
But I'll help you too, don't fret! (He'll reward you for the items)
A heaven's grant might be of use (I guess this is the Gold Chocobo)
Aggregate power you will get (The master materias)
You haven't got much to lose! (Underwater, I guess referring to oxygen)
So come on, warrior, heed the call! (To get all the items requires fighting)
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall (It is impossible to get any of the three items before Aeris's death, or before killing Ruby, Emerald or a Ghost Ship)
there is no need to fear. (Umm...)
Again, nice reasoning but no. :(
"A heaven's grant" is very literal.
Titan materia? In the jungle where you fight Reno and Rude?
Not Titan or Titan materia.
o I got it is it ancient forest?
Aeris' hairbeadthing.
No to both. Just for clarity, it is a location.
I know its not my riddle, but can other people start breaking down their reasoning? That way correct lines of thinking can be identified rather than repeatedly taking stabs in the dark...
I agree. I can only comment accurately on your thoughts if I see them spelled out. Just posting one comment for each line or stanza can prove really helpful, even if one has no finished guess.
The riddle
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between
I will put you to a test
in favour of the green
But I'll help you too, don't fret!
A heaven's grant might be of use
Aggregate power you will get
You haven't got much to lose!
So come on, warrior, heed the call!
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall
there is no need to fear.
Wrong answers
Battle Arena
Any of the WEAPONs
The Weaponsmith near Gongaga
Ancient Forest
Sunken Gelnika
(The cave of) The Sleeping Man
The Position Marker (pointing hand)
Green Beret
The Pagoda in Wutai
The person in charge of the Fort Condor battles
Titan materia/summon
Aeris' "hairbeadthing" :p
Excavation Site
Gold Saucer
Hints
The answer is a location which is optional to visit.
Only one of the lines is purely metaphorical.
"A heaven's grant" is very literal.
i think its the digsite or golden saucer!
No, neither.
Rantzien said the location is optional to visit. Visiting the Gold Saucer & Bone Village are compulsory.
Edit: Is it the Rocket Town materia shop? Where you can buy Barrier materia?
Edit #2: Um, my reason is... no arms to provide - I'm assuming is armour, as you can't buy armour there? & no rest because you can't rest in a materia shop. Um... it's optional to go in the shop & the Barrier materia is green. The heaven's grant & aggregate power makes me think it is materia. Not sure about the rest, but thrice a wall reminds me of Barrier, MBarrier & Wall.
Is it Tifa's room in Nibelheim?
I think it's the battle with Proud Clod. I'm not sure if it was optional or not, but I thought you could avoid it by going a different way (not sure). My reasoning is, you get no rest in the middle of the battle, and Heideggier(or whatever) wears green.
It's not the Materia shop in Rocket Town. "Heaven's grant" does not refer to a materia, however, "aggregate power" does. "Thrice a wall" has nothing to do with any magic.
No.
No, not the Proud Clod battle. The "No arms I provide, no rest" works alone as a clue, but most things don't provide arms or rest. The line is only really helpful when you follow up with the second line. Also, remember that the test mentioned is "in favour of the green". Heidegger is hardly in favour by the battle ;)
Argh... *Pulls hair out* This is hard! *Pokes you with Guard Stick*
Aggregate power refers to materia, hmm? So, at this optional place you will get materia? Hmm... in favour of green... chocobo? Is the heaven's grant the Highwind?!
Is it the Wutai materia cave???
give us another hint if its wrong!
Easy, it's Vincent Valentine.
Need to know why?
----repost
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between
I will put you to a test
in favour of the green
But I'll help you too, don't fret!
A heaven's grant might be of use
Aggregate power you will get
You haven't got much to lose!
So come on, warrior, heed the call!
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall
there is no need to fear.
I don't think Vincent Valentine is a location.
....ok
Vincent Valentine in his coffin.
No arms I provide, no rest - Helping hand as optional, he never sleeps in his covin
I'm an option in between - Optional Character
I will put you to a test - Ask a question
in favour of the green - Only to Barret 'if Barret is in your team, he'll ask a question
But I'll help you too, don't fret! - Ally
A heaven's grant might be of use - He's a beast
Aggregate power you will get - Get his powers
You haven't got much to lose! - More character, nothing to loose
So come on, warrior, heed the call! - Cloud, come to Vincent
Though you by coming here - Your main reason wasn't Vincent but you did came here
before death's peace build thrice a wall - behind the wall, were Vincent Lies
there is no need to fear. - He is dark and mysterious, but friendly.
So yeah, it's Vincent Valentine in his coffin.
^ Ahhh, yeah it sounds good. Although I think mine does too. :D LOL. ...Wouldn't be surprised if they're both wrong! But what do you mean about the Barret thing relating to in favour of the green? That's the only bit I didn't understand.
*Steals Guard Stick*
Nope. :) The heaven's grant is also not the Highwind (more literal, even), and "green" is not the Green Chocobo. Maybe look up alternate meanings of "green"?
"before death's peace build thrice a wall" is metaphorical. The rest of the lines are literal.
Not even close ;)
Still not right. You're thinking far too metaphorically, except for the next to last line, where you're not being metaphorical enough.
Here's a few hints:
The word "aggregate" even tells you what materia it's referring to.
"there is no need to fear" is (arguably) the least important line, it's mostly there for rhyme and rhythm. Otherwise, basically every line and word counts for something more than it says.
The Place where u find the Shield materia in the final dungeon
mideel after cloud has recovered and it had been swallowed. you can't rest there or buy any weapons or armour, but i can buy all the materia that was available at the start in midgar
^ Ooooh... Y'know, I think you've got it!
None right so far. Remember the importance of the second line.
No arms I provide, no rest - Helping hand as optional, he never sleeps in his covin
I'm an option in between - Optional Character
I will put you to a test - Ask a question
in favour of the green - Only to Barret 'if Barret is in your team, he'll ask a question to Barret'
But I'll help you too, don't fret! - Ally
A heaven's grant might be of use - He's a beast
Aggregate power you will get - Get his powers
You haven't got much to lose! - More character, nothing to loose
So come on, warrior, heed the call! - Cloud, come to Vincent
Though you by coming here - Your main reason wasn't Vincent but you did came here
before death's peace build thrice a wall - behind the wall, were Vincent Lies, in his coffin.
there is no need to fear. - He is dark, but friendly.
Sorry, All the lines fits in perfectly...
You just don't want to give it to me, so you try another answer just to give it to someone else.
And there's nothing metaphorical about any of my answers, beside the last line.
It's your puzzle.
Holy Materia then.
Don't be stubborn, Vincent or anything related to him is simply not the right answer.
The White Chocobo giving the Contain Materia.
The test in favour of the green could refer to handing over some Mimett Greens in order for a chance to pet him, and I just read "aggregate" being defined as, literally, "something composed of many elements". As I recall, the correct option, "Tickle behind his ears" is in the middle of the list, an option in between. (I could be totally wrong about that)
Is this "heaven's grant" a reference to the way Materia taps into the power of the Ancients?
If this is wrong, I have an idea for another possible answer, but since the rules say one answer per checkup, I gotta wait for you.
Wrong, but great reasoning. "Green" does not refer to the colour green in this case. "An option in between" talks about the physical world, although your interpretation was clever. :)
"Heaven's grant" has a very literal meaning, which has nothing to do with Materia or any divine form of heaven or metaphorical representations of it.
Does "Heaven's grant" mean grace? Not sure how to apply that, though.
No. Think like this: What would happen if heaven "granted" you something?
Well there goes my second possible answer: The Curse Ring. (Available, and only available in Mideel when you are not playing as Cloud, approximately half way through the game, and it increases every stat for a price... which is waived by casting Death Force, muahaha.)
Oh well, time to go think some more...
And I think Great Gospel: Just look at those puddles! One heck of a grant from the heavens, that!
Yeah, it's not the Curse Ring. It's also not Great Gospel, but you're starting to get near the actual meaning of "heaven's grant" ;)
wow this is so hard and complicated lol!!!
Beginner's Hall in Sector 7?
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between (It is located on the second floor between a weapon shop and a place to sleep)
I will put you to a test (I think they ask you questions)
in favour of the green (green can mean inexperienced - either the player or the NPCs)
But I'll help you too, don't fret!
A heaven's grant might be of use (I guess this is the Ether)
Aggregate power you will get (and this is All Materia)
You haven't got much to lose! (There is no cost to come here)
So come on, warrior, heed the call! (Its a room for trainee warriors)
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall (I guess this is related to the inability to come here after the plate crash, but the thrice bit I haven't worked out)
there is no need to fear (umm...)
Yeah, that riddle could be anything to thoses who has alot of experience in the game.
You'll need to be more precise because more than one option could be accepted here.
Don't say I'm stubborn, you are the one at fault here.
And you don't believe me about Barret, try him out yourself.
Hyperion in your analysis of the first stanza only "I will put you to a test - Ask a question" actually fits. Barret is not green, Vincent does provide arms, and being an optional character puts him nowhere between arms and rest.
In the second stanza you suggest that a heaven's grant is a beast? Vincent is anything but heavenly, unless you simply mean undead.
In the third stanza how does Vincent's situation relate to "thrice a wall"?
In short, let it go. I have no idea what the answer to this riddle is, but how about you have a go at Rantzien after you find out? Or better yet - don't.
Correct! Let me give you my full explanation:
No arms I provide, no rest
I'm an option in between
As you said, the place doesn't provide arms or rest, but directly above is a resting place, and directly below is a weapon shop, rendering the room an "option in between arms and rest".
I will put you to a test
in favour of the green
You are asked to explain the basics of the green to those who are "green", i.e. beginners.
But I'll help you too, don't fret!
A heaven's grant might be of use
At one spot, a chest containing an Ether drops down, seemingly from the sky.
Aggregate power you will get
This indeed refers to the All materia you can get. "Aggregate" is a one-word description of the kind of power the All materia gives you.
You haven't got much to lose!
Well, for one, there is really nothing to lose, except time. Moreover, this is a hint at the early point in the game. You don't have much items and the like yet.
So come on, warrior, heed the call!
"Heed the call" is a reference to the message the weapon shop man gives you via Tifa, a "call" to come there. "Warrior" is a minor hint, just a reference to how the beginners refer to you mainly as "SOLDIER".
Though you by coming here
before death's peace build thrice a wall
Remember how, in Junon, you can find another room like this? In there are the "ghosts" of the three workers found in the original Beginner's Hall. If you talk to them, they tell you something like "your explanations were so complicated I couldn't return to the planet". Therefore you "build thrice a wall before death's peace" by coming to the original Beginner's Hall.
there is no need to fear.
As I said earlier, this line is not very substantial, it's mostly an affirmation to "you haven't got much to lose", and for filling up.
Your go!
Hyperion4444, I'm sorry if you didn't enjoy the riddle, but there's no need to be rude about it. This is how I write riddles and it is as right as any other way.
Cool, I had no idea about the ghosts... I remember meeting them, but missed that they were from Sector 7. I should have got this quicker, looking back its actually perfectly solvable from the first stanza :)
I'm gonna pass this onto whoever wants it, as unfortunately I probably won't have time to maintain a riddle for quite a while. I also think after my last one, that its probably best I don't set any for a few months :D
That said, if noone steps up I'll try and come up with something.
Well done, Phoenix! I'm glad someone finally got it. :D What is weird though, is I thought that if I eventually guessed Rantzien's one correctly, I was gonna do a riddle about the Beginner's Hall. :| Lol.
Neither did I. I'm not sure if I can remember anything like that. Must check that out next time I play!
I wouldn't mind if Rantzien does another one! :p
OK, well PhoenixAsh, I will take it. :D
This is my first one, so it could be easy! & I tried to make it rhyme but then... well I didn't. Lol.
Your party can bump into me.
Well, maybe just me, or two, or three.
You can deceive, but I'll still give you a hand.
Or do you deserve a slap?
Haha, ahhh that sounds so silly when I read it.
Ghosts in the train graveyard. You can steal Ghost Hands from them, they appear in groups of up to three, and they attack by slapping you.
:( Too easy, lol.
Your turn. :D
Whoa, didn't expect it to be that! Here goes...
I may well be just what you need
I'd love to bring you up to speed
Curiosity's killing the cat you say?
Then kindly turn the other way!
The price is high no matter what
But come and get it while it's hot
Else hold on until you are nine;
Fortitude equally divine
Shan't blame you if you wish to wait
But look, eighteen plus fifty-eight?
When time's a factor you will see
You will come running back for me
Gold Saucer.
Sorry if I was rude...
it's just last time I had to guess a riddle, 'in ffviii', the monster was SAM08 or whatever you call it, people tryed to guess it for months after I called it. I had it rigth, but the riddle said it was immuned to poison, becauce all robots usually are, but that one was an hybrid 'cyborg' and poison did affect it.
So, yeah, he was at fault with his riddle, even if I was the one to get it... still feels bad.
Not the Gold Saucer.
Little hint: The actual answer is only lightly touched on. Everything else in the riddle leads to it... in no particular order.
Cait Sith?
yuffie?maybe....hmmmm....
Cait Sith isn't the actual answer, but he is mentioned somewhere in the riddle. He's instrumental in leading to the answer.
another hint plzzzz
No, it's not time for another hint yet. I think there's something else in the riddle that virtually gives it away anyway.
umm is it Cait Sith's Dice limit break?
is it cid when u first meet him
It isn't the Dice Limit Break, though meeting Cid is (technically) mentioned in the riddle. However, it's not relevant, as it refers to the alternative to what the answer actually is.
Cait Sith sacrificing himself for the black materia.
They had to sacrifice someone to get it.
After Cid joins you.
Does this have to do with the big clock?
Hmm, Cid joining your party is a big tipoff, so it sounds like either Temple of the Ancients, or Black Materia, or the Keystone. Or it might have something to do with Wutai.
"Curiosity killing the cat" doesn't refer to Cait Sith sacrificing himself, but actually refers to the famous idiom; in this case it relates to Cait Sith's curiosity getting to him.
"Else hold on until you are nine" does refer to Cid joining the party, so you wanna look for something that can be done before Cid joins.
nine characters, getting the 2 unlockables.
now is it time for another hint??
I really wouldn't mind seeing more guesses.
What else does Cait Sith bring to the party and how can you use it?
he brings a transform materia with him and another materia too i think. i can't remember the armour he has, is it a silver bangle?
Sorry for double posting but when I click 'Save' after editing... it takes ages to load, like it's stuck or something. Piece of poo.
So anyways, it's not the buggy is it? I tried to explain my reasons... but then... well some of them didn't fit. But I'm still gonna guess the buggy. :D
That guy who controls cait sith But I can't remember his name at the moment.
Reeve is his name.
ok..manipulate makes sense...because it takes control of enemies...making them turn the other way...
Ok, i'm guessing it's ghost ship, guidebook, or underwater materia... since they're all related very closely and fit... since you use transform on ghost ship to get the guidebook which you trade for underwater materia
I may well be just what you need
I'd love to bring you up to speed
Curiosity's killing the cat you say?
(Cait Sith comes with transform materia)
Then kindly turn the other way!
(manipulate materia?)
The price is high no matter what
But come and get it while it's hot
Else hold on until you are nine;
(not sure if you have cid when you first use submarine now that i think about it...)
Fortitude equally divine
Shan't blame you if you wish to wait
But look, eighteen plus fifty-eight?
When time's a factor you will see
You will come running back for me
(Time is a factor when you don't have underwater materia when fighting emerald weapon...because you can't breath underwater XD)
"Turn the other way" isn't quite as literal as the effect of Manipulate, but you're on the right track that Manipulate's needed here.
Protip: All this stuff about "running back" and "turn the other way" means backtracking. I'm hoping this is the last big hint I'll really need to give, now start translating the other lines :P
so are the other lines correct or are they not for him. and turn the other way hmmmmm....dose it mean leave the cat and just keep on going?
i say kill tha cat an use tha body 2 take over tha WORLD MWHAHAHA
is it the white wind enemy skill? the only way u can get it is to use manipulate on the enemies outside mithril mine, which means going back after getting the materia
I'm almost positive you can also get it from those flying dragon things in the Whirlwind Maze, before the Reunion.
Edit: Yeah, you can. (I took this from here.)
White Wind
Learn from: Zemzelett (Junon area), Wind Wing (Whirlwind Maze)
Manipulate: Yes
Description: Cures Berserk, Confusion, Darkness, Death Force, Frog, Manipulate, Mini, Paralysed, Petrify, Poison, Resist, Silence, Sleep, Slow, Slow-Numb, Stop (100%) and restores HP
Power: Caster’s current HP
Targets: All allies
MP Cost: 34 MP
Max. Damage: N/A
Notes: Restorative elemental
my mistake :D although the back tracking tghing would be easier. i was gonna say big guard but i think u can get them from something later in the game too.
what the hell! i'll guess big guard as well ;) (btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! :D:D:D)
A winner is you!
"Bring you up to speed" refers to the Haste effect, "Fortitude equally divine" means you can otherwise get the Barrier Materia once you've been to Rocket Town (Time is in Gongaga, and if you miss it, it's in Rocket Town right next to Barrier), and "Eighteen plus fifty eight?" refers to the individual costs of casting Haste and Wall repsectively.
P.S. I'm gonna be ultra pedantic and mention that there's no way to learn White Wind off the Wing Wing, as you can't Manipulate them and I believe it's unaffected by Reflect.
d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x, you're up. You happy birthday!!
Aww, well done, d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x. Happy Birthday, too! :D *Gives you a slice of very nice cake*
mmm i love cake! ;) thnx guys
this meal looks scrumptious
but overfacing too
and i did eat earlier
so a bitesize meal should do
i have a feeling this will be easy bt ive only been up 10 mins :D
something to do with the pharmacy?
or the restaurant in wall market?
nope and nope. a couple more guesses and i'll drop a hint
Those monsters named Hungry near the City of the Ancients (and occasionally in the Great Glacier); the ones that cast Mini and then eat you, and if you ever meet three of them in a pincer attack you're totally screwed unless you're guarded against Mini.
^ Ooh good one!
But if it's not that... then I'm guessing the room in Cosmo Canyon... where that guy is cooking. I think Cait Sith's eating in there or something. ???
reloadpsi gets it, its the hungry enemy. and the reasoning is pretty obvious so i wont bother explaining it.
ur turn reloadpsi!
Um... right, here goes. This might be a difficult one :)
*EDITED OUT WHILE I REWRITE A BIT BETTER, PLEASE STAND BY, K*
Okay here goes!
Your heroes cannot hear me
They cannot even perceive me
But you can
Further into the heat of the moment
As you fight for your life
I'll still be around a little more
I've had many names
You've read many names
Or maybe just one, it depends on the tongue
Limit Breaks?
Little hint: This riddle breaks the fourth wall in a big way.
...So depending on what language you speak, the answer to this riddle could have different names?
So it's something we'd notice as players but the characters themselves wouldn't?
Further into the heat of the moment and As you fight for your life sound like references to battle.
Is it the victory fanfare music?
Most likely Japanese and English. But I really don't know the Japanese names for most things, unless they are direct transliterations.
I've had many names would suggest something that has appeared in several FF installments, although it's remotely possible that it's something that appears only in FFVII and is referrred to by different names in either English or Japanese.
Continuing with the musical theme, is it the FF opening music? It's known as Prelude in FFVII and The Loser in FFVIII although it's essentially the same tune.
Is it Sephiroth and Cloud at the temple when Cloud trys to not give the black materia away?
I'm inclined to guess some sort of battle theme.
Is it The Makou Cannon is Fired? The cannon is also called the Sister Ray.
With my luck it's going to be the seventh guess that's the right one. :p
Is it J-E-N-O-V-A?
Nope.
Take a closer look at the wording of the riddle if you wanna guess it quicker.
I'll work around the endgame.
Is it A One-Winged Angel?
welcome to reloadpsi's riddle for BG :D

the "fight for your life" and "heat of the moment" makes me think it might just be the battle theme?
Sorry for the delay guys!
It's neither of those :P
Is it The Birth of God?
It's not. When I said look closely at the wording I meant it very literally :P
Hmm. :plotting:
If it's anagram or hidden code I'm hopeless at that sort of thing. I can't find any letters that were given special emphasis and the capital letters spell out Y T B F A I I Y O, which doesn't mean anything to me.
The first six lines would fit with almost any battle theme I can think of. I don't understand exactly what the last three lines mean though. It could be translation issues, like Basilisk phonetically rendered into Japanese and then back into English as Bagrisk for the monster and Vagrisk Claw for the item that the monster sometimes drops. That sort of thing?
Anyways, I'm going to guess by elimination for now. Is it Jenova Absolute?
I have a funny feeling that when you guess the correct answer it is gonna be the last available.
The title is split up and placed into the riddle's words, kind of, but either way I think I'm gonna make sure you get the next riddle anyway, regardless of who guesses it, for all your hard work :)
Is it You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet?
...no, it's not.
Further into the heat of the moment
As you fight for your life
I'll still be around a little more
Well, it was worth a shot, since many of the words in that title show up in the riddle.
Is it Still More Fighting?
Indeed.
"Sara ni tatakau monotachi" has been unofficially translated with many names since the soundtrack's release, simply because Square never gave the tracks English names themselves. "Still More Fighting" was apparently the most popular choice along with "Again the People Fight" which is a more literal translation, and similar names given to fan versions like "Fight On" at Overclocked Remix (which by the way is awesome, go listen to it if you ain't already), and Babelfish's hilarious "Furthermore Fighting ni People".
They were all way off: When "The Black Mages" was released, it was confirmed as "Those Who Fight Further".
What I'm getting at is that "Sara ni tatakau monotachi" is its only name in a certain tongue (Japanese) but has gone by like a zillion names in English. As for the wording of the riddle, I made sure to include the words "fight", "still", "further" and so on.
Thought it'd be nice to do a riddle based on what is far and away my favourite piece of video game music of all time.
Anyways BG-57, it's your turn.
Wow.
I would have never guessed that, except by elimination. It reminds of the Triple Triad riddle where I just listed every card that hadn't been guessed and then tried one after another. Someone else got the answer, but I managed to lay the groundwork at least. :p
Here we go:
Follow the breadcrumbs
Into the deep dark woods
Not to grandma's house
But some well deserved R&R
the "follow the breadcrumbs" and "some well deserved R&R" make me think of the variety of things u have tod o in wall market to get to the honey bee inn. soo i'm gonna guess it'sw the wal mart mini-mission?
It's nothing to do with Wall Market.
is it the path u have to travel from bone village to the city of the ancients (the anciednt forest i guess)
Follow the breadcrumbs --> to find the harp u have to use the staff of bone village
Into the deep dark woods --> ancient forest
Not to grandma's house
But some well deserved R&R --> after a long trip u rest in the house at the city of the ancients but its somewhere uver never been before so it's not somewhere u recognise (e.g grannys house)
^ Ooh, that's a good guess!
I can't believe how rubbish I am at these.
Indeed it is a good guess, but sadly not the correct one.
You're using the right approach with line 2.
Exsuse me but what are you talking about so can you teal me please.
Welcome aboard to EoFF! :)
Riddle Threads 101
These riddle threads are essentially the same in every forum:
1) A riddle is posted, relating somehow to the game (in this case FFVII).
2) Everyone else tries to guess what the riddle is about, be it person, place, or thing.
3) The riddle poster generally provides feedback (at the very least whether guesses are correct or incorrect). Hints are sometimes provided by the poster, but it's not required.
4) The first person to correctly solve the riddle gets the option to post their own riddle. If they refuse to, then the next riddle can be posted by anyone on a first-come first-served basis. Which leads you back to step 1).
It's very important to know that only one riddle is allowed to be posted and solved at a time. If the poster is being slow with feedback you can amuse yourself with side riddles, but they are not part of the riddle chain in any way shape or form.
Right now the riddle is mine since I sucessfully solved the last one by ReloadPsi.
if the 2nd line is the ancient forest then it stands to reason that the 1st line is something that occurs before it. i'm gonna guess thats clouds dreams which lead him there. i can't think of a situation that fits the 3rd line, is it meant to be literally translated? i.e. one of ur party has a grandma but it's not her place ur going to?
I should clarify:
Line 2 is not referring to the Ancient forest, but a forest is involved.
Line 3 is not meant to be read literally.
R&R means Rest and Relaxation or something?
Follow the breadcrumbs --> the balloons in the snowboard track, or just the snowboard track itself, you have to follow it.
Into the deep dark woods --> there's a forest at the end of the track
Not to grandma's house
But some well deserved R&R --> They faint and wake up in a cabin
Normally yes. But in this case they stand for two other words that start with the letter R.
is "R&R" supposed to be translated literally then? so you go somewhere where you obtain 2 items both beginning with "R"?
Basically yes. There is only one item to get but R&R are related.
the first thing that springs to mind would be an item composed of 2 words which both begin with R. off the top of my head the only thing i can think of is Yuffie's "Razor ring" weapon from wutai. although i'm not sure how that fits in with a forest? maybe the forest yo can see in Wutai on your way to the da chao statue? just throwing ideas in here! :D
REPOST:
Follow the breadcrumbs

But some well deserved R&R
It's not related to Yuffie or Wutai.
R&R is not the name of the item, just the way to get it.
can i ask whatr answer you're looking for here? i.e. and item, a person, a place?
maybe the woods are the forest surrounding gongaga and the R&R would be rude and reno who you encounter there. not sure how that ties in with breadcumbs and grandma, maybe Zack's parents?
If we're passing through a forest, getting some well deserved R&R, following breadcrumbs but not to grandma's house...
Either way that sounds an awful lot like a Fairy Tale, dropped after the battle with Reno and Rude (R&R), a well deserved act of retribution for what you did in Sector 7.
Dude... that's pretty clever.
You are correct, ReloadPsi! :D
Although d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x deserves a :cookie: for his excellent groundwork.
damnit! i was trying so hard this time too :D
nm, i'll jus have to get reloadpsi's riddle right ;)
And seeing as my access to the net is a bit limited until Thursday and I don't have time to think of a riddle, I'll relinquish this one to d£v!l'$ ph0£n!x for, as you put it, fleshing out the groundwork. Go ahead!
groovy! ;) thnx man!
an obvious and large presence
though i get bigger the more you take away
unknown is the creation, from above of down below
my secret's guarded by a great envy
is it jenova?
Line 2 makes me think of Bombs, so that'll be my guess. I like those monsters, although it's not very obvious. ;)
not jenova or bombs, though i can see where you're both coming from.
it is something very vague, so i'm gonna drop a hint now.
(SPOILER) it's something you've probably seen a LOT but just thought nothing of it
sry for double post but i think this will be the only way people will be alerted this thrwad has changed
lack of activity makes me think ur stuck so i'll drop another hint
(SPOILER) the last line is a metaphor, this object is not guarded by someone for reasons of envy . . .
It it something green colored? People who are envious are often described as being green with envy.
correct, but the green thing isn't the answer, it is something close by to the answer. not much fruther now
The green grass you walk on (world map) springs to my mind, but it's probably wrong, lol.
an obvious and large presence - It's pretty much everywhere.
though i get bigger the more you take away - Um, I'm thinking that... the further you get in the game, the more places you visit.
unknown is the creation, from above of down below - It's down below, but it's above the sea, which you also visit.
my secret's guarded by a great envy - I'm not sure about this one!
nope not the grass sorry, i guess i'll drop another hint
(SPOILER) the second line is actually a time-old riddle in the real world. ask someone if they know the answer and you'll probably find the answer to this riddle
Well something that gets bigger the more you take away is a hole...
Is it the Northern Crater? It seems to fit the rest of the riddle.
Repost:

yes the answer to the riddle is a hole, but not the northern crater.
remember what BG said about being green with envy . . . .
Is it the Ancient Forest, the place you get the Apocalypse sword, Ultima Weapon creates a Hole there after you defeat him, thus granting you access to the forest without a green Chocobo?
Oh!
Is it the underwater crater that Emerald Weapon likes to hang around in? It's never explained what caused it.
and BG gets it! nice job guys! i'll fill in the gaps
an obvious and large presence --> it's a really big hole! :D
though i get bigger the more you take away --> holes get bigger as you take more out of them
unknown is the creation, from above of down below --> we never learn why the hole is there, it just is
my secret's guarded by a great envy--> emerald weapon (green with envy) hangs round the hole as BG said.
GJ dude! ur move
Thanks. :)
Counted among the blessed
And deserving of a medal
Gives you good vibrations
And music for night viewing
I thought id start the guessing, a random 1 at that though, the lunar harp?
Good guess, but no.
music box?
It's not the music box.
earth drum?
You almost have it!
Counted among the blessed
And deserving of a medal
Gives you good vibrations (Earth Drum)
And music for night viewing
im having the hardest time placing the earth drum
Emerald Weapon???
REPOST:

wrong guess:
lunar harp
music box
emerald weapon
is it titan? it's a summon (blessed), has a similar effect to earth drum and can only be used in battle, which has awesome music! :D
Good guess, but it's not Titan.
After some research (I know I know lol I couldn't figure it out just w/ my knowledge) I found out it's christopher that you fight in Northern Crater. You can steal earth drum from him(Gives you good vibrations) and you can learn Frog Song (And music for night viewing)
You are correct, although Frog Song is not one of the hints.
Counted among the blessed (Saint Christopher has the same name)
And deserving of a medal (There's a Saint Christopher medal)
Gives you good vibrations (Earth Drum)
And music for night viewing (Stardust March is one of his attacks)
Your go, Sephitachi7! :)
Hmm. Not sure if this one has been done before but.... here it goes.
Before a great sight,
great wisdom has granted you this gift.
1/2 dinosaur, 1/2 steel,
A great aid when your friends are in trouble.
Bone Village?
Is it bahamut?
Before a great sight,
great wisdom has granted you this gift. --> u get it from temple of the ancients, which holds a lot of knowledge
1/2 dinosaur, 1/2 steel, --> it's a dragon (dinosaur) but has a metallic look to it
A great aid when your friends are in trouble. --> a kick ass summon! XD
Sorry lol not Bahamut or bone village hehe
