Again, the numbers are not related to materia slots. And I don't believe the Trumpet Shell in is Cave of the Gi. But you're getting closer.

Icicle Inn has 650. Red Megaphone
Gold Saucer has 570, at first. Yellow Megaphone (Cait Sith's initial equipment)
Cosmo Canyon has 510. Green Megaphone
Wutai has 475. Blue Megaphone
Gongaga has it all. White Megphone
Cave of the Gi has none. Black Megaphone

The numbers refer to the wavelength (in nanometers) of light that correspond to each color.

Still, good riddle, it had me going.

Damn, I just came here to tell y'all I figured it out. I was reading my Final Fantasy VII BradyGames Guide and I noted Cait Sith's weapons. The part that jumped out at me was the White and Black Megaphones. Now I don't get credit for reasoning this out. Ah, well, it's not like I'd've been able to think up a riddle.
