Thank you ^__^ I quite like to write riddles, and I hope this one provides a good challenge. I think it should.Quote:
Edit: Oh yeah and please look above for Eagleheart's pretty awesome riddle... nice one
No, but I think I can kind of see how you got to that reasoning, and I rather like it. Someone needs to write a riddle about the Phoenix on top of Fort Condor, because it seems like quite a good answer.Quote:
Maybe the big Phoenix on top of the Condor Fort thing?
Nope, not it.Quote:
That just makes me think of North Crater and Sephiroth.
Repost:
High over the earth,
The paradox sleeps,
North of rebirth,
And south of the deeps.
Bows to the marksman,
Though it masters the first.
Bequeaths the best,
In exchange for the worst.
When and if I should happen to need to give hints, I'm likely to give them in the form of supplementary stanzas to the riddle, is that all right? Or do people prefer straight up things like "It's a _______" or "It's not a ________"?
Please if you actually looked I gave additional clues. The point of it being shorter is to make it more challenging...
Thank you Lost Number and Hazzard...

Well yeah but your riddle eventually came down to a small
event that happens just once in the game, that's just
too farfetched for me. I bet in order to solve it either
he played through the Shinra HQ part or he looked the
part up in a gamefaq.
What the hell!? I'm getting attacked because I have
a remark on a riddle? Shame on you. I was simply stating
my oppinion.
Shame on you, you were in fact bashing him. You comment on members like Roto, when you're not even in the right predicament to talk. That was a perfectly justified riddle, and was challenging. You may lack skills in riddles or the sort, but some people like to crack a code. Most likely, he didn't look at an FAQ, he probably done it the way smart people do, and that's remembering a past event. Can't believe someone can get jealous over harmless fun, please stop now.
Actually I'm gonna side with DeStyle a bit. I generally prefer to make riddles that are about very well known things. Its quite annoying to spend a long time staring at a riddle to try and find the trick, and then find out later that the answer was something so obscure you had no chance of getting it.
D33p Darkn3ss' riddle happened to be very clearly written, which was why I could do most of the working for it without having any memory of that vending machine. As a general rule though I say make the question difficult, not the answer.
As for the current riddle:
High over the earth, (the only things that are high up are meteor, Highwind, Ultima Weapon, certain buildings, the rocket and mountains)
The paradox sleeps, (only Ultima Weapon, or something in the mountains or buildings, sleeps high up)
North of rebirth, (Ultima and mountains are North of what I'm guessing is Fort Condor or Mideel)
And south of the deeps. (Everything is South of the crater, and only Mideel is South of much sea. This doesn't help much)
Bows to the marksman, (Ultima can be hit from the highwind and killed but its a long way away. Alternately, Lucrecia, who lives in a cave as above responds to Vincent, the best fit for a marksman)
Though it masters the first. (This doesn't make much sense to me, though Lucrecia is the mother of Sephiroth, Clone 1, and Ultimate kind of wins its first fight with the party)
Bequeaths the best, (Gives Vincent Death Penalty/ Cloud Ultimate Weapon)
In exchange for the worst. (Then Dies)
So I'd go with Lucrecia, although I'm wary of how high up she is... In which case Ultimate Weapon seems more likely...
So even if you get that Lucrecia guess wrong, then you'll probably get the Ultimate Weapon one, right.
i'm gonna guess ultima WEAPON.
High over the earth, --> it waits in the air until u encounter it for real on disc 3
The paradox sleeps, --> it doesnt actually do anything until u crash into it
North of rebirth, --> cloud is "reborn" as himself in mideel after the lifestream event, and ultima WEAPONS original postion is above the crater to the norht of mideel
And south of the deeps. --> the largest ocean on the map is to the north of that continent . . . i think :D
Bows to the marksman, --> is out of reach to anyone on the ground in some battles, unless they have a gun/long range weapon
Though it masters the first. --> not sure on this bit
Bequeaths the best, --> ultima weapon
In exchange for the worst. --> the mass of battles u have to fight and tracking it around the world to fight it.
i bet i'm miles off :D
Yeah but everyone needs to remember that if the answer is right, then it's actually Phoenix Ash's answer. Copy?
That's all right, no one's got it yet, though there has been some correct reasoning.
Meteor seems like the next best answer here.
Nope.
Actually, I'll try a slightly different line and go with the Temple of the Ancients:
High over the earth, (Tall Building)
The paradox sleeps, (This actually fits more than usual, as its one of the most paradoxical things in the game)
North of rebirth, (I think it is actually North of Mideel)
And south of the deeps. (Its also now South of the main oceans)
Bows to the marksman, (It lets people with the keystone enter, but I'm not sure why that means marksman)
Though it masters the first. (Tseng falls before you get there)
Bequeaths the best, (Meteor the most powerful destructive magic)
In exchange for the worst. (Requires someone to die in order to get it)
Nope. Again, some of the right reasoning, but not applied correctly.
was the marksman thing i mentioned before about long range attackers rite?
wanna drop a hint?
I'm rather adverse, personally, to answering general questions about the specific qualities of the answer, I feel it's against the spirit of the things. I will say again that a lot of people are following approximately the right reasoning.
If more people ask for it, I'll put up a hint in the form of another stanza, which will give more insight to the nature of the answer.
