Oh good! I hope Ghost exacts his fluffy vengeance!
im pretty sure Ghost went his own way when Jon was in the north.
the direwolfs often go hunt on their own and will stay away for a couple of days.
Yeah I think that's it. I think he's just not AT the wall right now. At least in the show they have him go off more than the books. Plus they like making s squirm so they didn't show it so it hasn't happened xD He's still alive!
Naturally, Ghost will return with his direwolf buddies to smurf the Night's Watch up. Then I'll wake up from that dream and go back to gaming/writing.
First teaser for seasons 6! Spoilers if you haven't finished 5!
I can't wait for the making of the teaser.
"How to put as many bad things that happened in 40 seconds."
Was that all old footage or was anything from Season 6 actually in that tease?
Oh yeah!!! Game of thrones!!
The voice over is new I believe. It's the three eyed crow talking to Bran I believe.
Good gravy, Bran is starting to sound like an adult.
i cant find a way to post this gif directly :(
so here is the link to it instead

It's been a long winter for Bran

Fun facts: He's now 16 and damn that puberty, he's also now 6 ft tall. hodor is going to have a much harder time carrying him
He's actually, kinda, attractive. :erm:
Hodor turned into a donkey?!
I still haven't even watched season 5 in full yet...
now that the books (re)introduced the Sand Snakes to me i'm even more disapointed about the tv-show Sand Snakes.
in the books they are so diverce :3
the next season cant come soon enough.
Official date was released yesterday. April 24th!
New GOT is best birthday present. Even if it's a day late :3
It's within a week of my birthday so it'll do for me too!
It's only a few months late for my birthday. I can live with that.
I can't wait for some GoT! :D

SNOWBOWL HYPE.
Snowbowl: People think Jon Snow is alive. Ramsey Snow has Winterfell. Snow v. Snow. SNOW BOWL
He's Ramsay Bolton now though and don't forget it unless you want to get flayed.
It sounds like things are beginning to come to a head, as the major factions begin making plays. I do wonder how the other houses will factor in though. We have the Tyrells, the Greyjoys (who we haven't heard from for ages), Martells... even the Arryns will be important in Littlefinger's arc.
I hope the other houses have as much importance as the big three, anyway.
Ms. Shame Lady, your days are numbered.
And when Cersei finds out what happened to her daughter Dorne's going to be a pile of trout.
I really hope Dorne gets it's major part in the story that's been building for so long this season/book.
Glenn to storm Winterfell and miraculously survive.
i a really looking forward to the next season.
so much trout to happen :D
atm im most curious about what will happen between the Lannisters and the Martells after what happened :3
and for the love of god, reboot the Sand Snake.. usually im very against switching actors in the middle of stuff but now i wouldnt mind. i just read about them in the books and they are so versatile there :3
oh god

Young Ned vs dual wielding Targaryen? Oh yes.
davos with longclaw?
mountain is unleashed? CLEAGANEBOWL? STANDING BRAN WITH THE NIGHT KING?! WHAT IS GOING ON
You had me at James Vincent McMorrow's version of Wicked Game. I robbed this a couple of years ago and now play it at all my gigs
I see someone put their hand on Jon's forehead. A magical resurrection will be acceptable in this series.
WOW WOW WOW take it easy!!
all this information and sensation from that trailer... my heart cant handle it:excited::excited::excited::excited::excited::excited::excited::excited::omgomg::omgomg::omgomg::o mgomg::omgomg::omgomg:
i really hope it is a flashback to the fight between Ned and Rhaegar :D

I have been waiting YEARS to see Euron in a trailer. This did not disappoint. Also, book readers will note that he's shown standing on a rope-bridge.
I really want to see more from the other houses, but especially the Greyjoys (and not just Theon). This pleases me.
When should we do this? When there's less than a month to go, perhaps?
I need a new Pod set, that's for sure.
I reckon we do this sometime before the new series starts but no earlier than 31 days before the series starts.
I saw the latest trailer, and am going back and watching Season 5 just to make sure I don't forget what all just happened. I'm pretty close to being caught up in the books too, halfway through the 5th novel, so the anxiety is killing me. A little over 1 more month left. Hopefully avoiding as many spoilers as possible, and I noticed that the glimpse I caught of Bran has him looking like he';s taller and about 5 years older than the last time we saw him... :/
Yeah that's just the actor going through a grow spurt. He's like 6' now haha. That's the problem with long series and child actors :monster:
ill follow your lead!!
(if you dont see it yet, then im still bussy with it)
edit: ill do it tomorrow, g2g.. cant really find a nice avatar or gif-signature
edit: alright, found a sig for now :3
Just rewatching season 5 right now to get ready for season 6!
Anyone claimed Cersei for the set change?
Ahh I guess I'll use the true hero of the story Podrick!
I decided to go with the other Lannister brother to mix it up this year.
Who needs lines with eyes like these?
http://static.tumblr.com/bf9d6307702...annister14.gif
Can anyone suggest a character from GOT so I can change my pix and sig :)
Can I be Varys plz
Hmm just rewatching season 5 right now and really am trying to think who you remind me of on that show Bri.
Guess I'll have to dig out the Bronn set ;)
Going to try to find a decent Euron set.
Edit: Went with a Mads Mikkelsen-inspired one since, other than two brief clips in the trailer, we haven't really seen Pilou Asbaek as the character yet. Might switch it up once the season starts and Euron is finally in some scenes.
I've been Melisandre since we first did this is 2013, but I'm switching it up this year. Since the Greyjoys are actually featuring in this year's season, the lovely Yara/Asha (one of my very favorite book characters) is sure to be in this season a lot!
So if someone else wants to be Mel, go for it. :)
I decided to be a dragon. Drogon actually.
thats genius...
here is another trailer!

It's April! GoT this month!
JUST A LITTLE OVER 2 MORE WEEKS, GUYS! LETS HYPE:hyper::hyper:
I'm still contemplating which set to use for this. It could be short-lived depending on how the first episode goes.
I might start using Glen from The Walking Dead until Jon Snow is brought back to life.
Ugh, yeah I still need to make a set for this. I'm usually Podrick, but that's already taken, so I might go for... I'll think about it some more.
I'm going for badass Granny Tyrell. I don't think anyone else has taken her yet. If so, tell me and I'll change to someone else.
Formy, you should be Davos or Brienne.
I'll shed my usual Littlefinger set and be just a nighty king this year.
I choose violence.
Agreed! I really like Asha/Yara as well, though it is a shame she isn't featured so heavily in the T.V series.
Can you stand being a Geordie though, Formy?
jfc imso freaking hyped
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI0ib1NErqg
Jon's dead, isn't he?
While I won't watch the show anymore if that is the case, at least I'll still have respect for the show unlike TWD.
He's dead now, sure. Whether he remains dead is another question.
It's not really comparable to Glenn, though. If they had Jon pop up and say "lol j/k Nights Watch my rock hard abs repelled your blades" and nothing of note comes of it then yeah, it's TWD. It's already been established in the GoT show that people can be resurrected either through magic or science, but at a terrible cost to those brought back. So if they go through a process to bring him back that has an impact on whoever does it and Jon himself isn't returned exactly as he was then I don't have any problems with it.
Yeah, you're right. It is different with Thrones. If he is resurrected it wouldn't grate on me anywhere near as bad as Glenn's death. I guess I'm just sick of these "Are they really dead?" Cliffhangers.
I don't care about anything else in that trailer WHO'S HURTING POD
j/k I care about everything in this trailer, I'm so excited
Are huge/giant spoilers from another tv show that people might not be caught up on seriously being carelessly discussed in this thread without spoiler tags? This is kindof bulltrout, guys. Not cool.
This isn't something that just happened. It was six months ago, and if it meant that much to people they would've seen it by now.
You don't get to decide what is and isn't important for other people, and saying "it happened six months ago" is dismissive and rude. If it was in the first or second seasons, alright, that's fair. Something big that happened in the most recent season isn't okay, and there's no excuse for not putting spoiler tags for a discussion about a huge character death in another tv show in this thread.
If you want to have a constructive discussion about what should and shouldn't be tagged as a spoiler then by all means. However, I disagree in the strongest of terms that a simple explanation for posts you expressed concern over is either dismissive or rude.
I am honestly in two minds about the whole thing, because Glenn isn't dead. So there is no spoiler of any character death, I guess? Maybe a bit of lessened tension in certain parts of the last season of TWD if stumbled upon accidentally.
But yes, I would think it is probably best not to be posting unmarked spoilers from other recent shows in here.
Important question: Who is the Ace of Spades?
I love the gif you chose, Formy! DAVOS FOR KING!!!!!!!!
Also, RE: Spoilers
I get both sides of it, but the title to this thread has been a Walking Dead joke for MONTHS, and no one has said anything until now. Seems kind of silly to get upset about it at this point.
People come to this thread and expect Game of Thrones discussion. They do not expect to have to read spoilers from other tv shows that have their own entirely separate threads for those spoilers and discussion to go untagged. It would be nice for this not to happen again is all.
Say what?
I just rewatched every season in about a week. I'd seen so many clips from every season that I wasn't sure where I'd actually got up to. Turns out I finished season four. Kind of a waste of forty hours, but oh well.
I just want to say that Sansa is becoming my favourite character. I used to feel that her being weak, then undergoing a transformation into a Game Player, then getting shut down by the Boltons was this confusing mess and undermined her character. But god damn, I was wrong. She does her duty to get revenge. Sure, Ramsay overwhelms her a bit and she takes a hit, but she constantly talks trout to him. Every word out of her mouth is spectacular.
If you all want to discuss whats worthy of spoiler tags make your own thread. In the staff forum :p Les get back to discussing game of thrones.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Sansa's arc this season. I hope to see her learning from her past mistakes and starting to take more control and getting more agency in general. With that said, I can't help but fear she isn't quite free of Littlefinger's machinations. He made a point of saying to her it was obvious Stannis would stomp all over the Boltons, and I can't believe he would really think that.
I'm currently rewatching all seasons (as I haven't done a proper watch through the last couple of seasons) and I totally forgot what a major :bou::bou::bou::bou: Sansa was the first season. My god. Unbearable.
But, she's one of my favorite characters both in book and show in the later parts of the series.
Also, ages ago Jinx said that Daenerys was a god awful actor with her terrible expressionless face and dead eyes, and I defended her.
I was wrong. It's really jarring switching scenes from a bunch of good actors to her. It was especially disbelief wrecking to see Tyrion and Daenerys in the same scene.
I think it worked for her. She was right prissy little miss, and that's how she came across. Nailed it.
About goddamn time.
I'll say this:
She wasn't so bad the first season. Her acting kind of fit in with dumb, naive, docile Dany. When she commanded people and it sounded horrible and whiny, that could just be because Dany is horrible and whiny.
After that, uuuugh.
Although she's gotten better in later seasons. Still not good, but not as bad as she was before.
Oh yeah, I loved her in season 1. She did a great job playing this kid forced into difficult situations, and her face portrayed the various emotions she'd be feeling really well. So she can do it. Someone just needs to teach her authority and presence.
"Hello... all."
Any time this comes up I immediately have to go and look at Jinx's profile.
She still often looked blank and stricken dumb, but it worked with the story at the time. Like you said, just a kid. She doesn't know how to react to what's going on around her, she's powerless, she's afraid. So I actually loved Dany in season 1. Just finished the last episode with the dragons being born and it STILL gets me teary eyed.
After thaaaaaaaaaaat
Someone analysed the ear of the person who did it to find out who it is. I'm not even making this up.

I am SO excited though to see how the Dany and Tyrion thing plays out.
I want Tyrion to achieve some victories. Since being arrested, he's been a drunk, aimlessly wandering until finally settling in Mereen.
I want the Tyrion of the first few seasons back, backhanding Joffrey and generally getting stuff done.
http://img.pathfinder.gr/CMAN/f/3309...ain-g-Om8j.gif
this makes me want to rewatch all the seasons again :3 maybe ill do that after the 6th season is done

He's taking him up on the roooooooof!
GRRM and Stephen King are having a panel thing in June. That'd be an interesting one, I think.
He's just interviewing King. I think it'd be a great panel thing to watch as writers. Cause King churns out books like crazy while GRRM doesn't. Maybe it'll rub off on him haha. I'm really debating on going to it to be honest. Dalton grew up in Albuquerque and has been wanting to go back to visit for a while.
Wow was released 11 1/2 years ago, you can sub to it right now :p
Could someone post a list of which EOFF members are currently which GoT characters for me?

Go team brienne.
Davos will save Jon, go team edd.
Dany is gonna have her dragon smurf trout up.
Tyrion is gonna get trout in order.
Arya is going to become daredevil.
And melissandre is a centuries old woman (inside the episode said centuries old)
Emotional rollercoaster that episode was
Pretty good episode considering how many storylines they covered. It's the trickle of progression you come to expect from this show. Nice to see something good to happen to Sansa. I hope Arya gets Daredevil powers.
Melissandre: Still would.
Also "looks like she won't be sailing to Westeros any time soon". Thanks Tyrion. At least the writers were honest about it from the first episode.
A very interesting opening episode. I liked it. I felt it did well to both set up and develop the plot efficiently.
I'm not really sure how the end part will impact anything other than "oh she's actually old". I mean, was there a wider impact to what she was doing? Was she suddenly doubting herself because of the fall of Stannis & Snow? Was it her giving up on her faith in some way? Was it her surrendering herself in some way, perhaps to give her life to save Snow? So much speculation on that end. I wonder if Davos & co will actually find her like that if/when they go to her for help.
Davos & Edd working together makes me really happy, because they are two of my favourite characters. If Bronn somehow got in on that action I'm not sure it'd get any better. I wonder if the three of them can bring back Jon and all join Dany & Tyrion somehow... oh, and Sansa & co. Man, it was nice to see all my fave characters surviving decently enough.
Now to watch them all die in the next episode. Sigh.
Not gonna lie proper audibly cheered when Brienne showed up.
Mel though.... has she been wearing a glamour this whole time?! (probably!) IS SHE THE STARK'S OLD NAN?! (You know the one who tells the spookytastic stories!)
Also, my copy had foreign subs during the Dothraki scene. This is what I gathered
I want to bang her
No I want to bang her
She is so stupid LOL
----
Hello I am the Khal of this horde, I want to see your tittaaaays
BUT NO, YOU MAY NOT! HAAAA I TRICKED YOU, I SPEAK DOTHRAKI THE WHOLE TIME!
Oh my god! But you lie!
No. I was married to Khal Drogo!
Huh, I knew him. He was hung like a horse. I cannot bang you. You are free
Now, go with the other widows of Dothraki for plot reasons, eyebrow woman!
I must admit though I was expecting Nymeria to burst out of the bushes and help Sansa!
It kind of reminded me of its always sunny type banter actually.
"There's nothing better than seeing a naked pretty girl"
"Well looting is cool"
"Yeah and taking a city over is fun"
Main khal: "OKAY. Fine. A naked pretty girl is in the top 5 greatest things in life"
I was amused
The Gang Kidnaps A Khaleesi.
lol, that pretty much sums it up xD
ahaha yeah, that was funny xD
i absolutely looooved Brienne and Podrick saving Sansa <3
from the trailer i already wondered: how in the fcking hell are they suppose to find Dany's ring in the middle of that big landscape? im glad they didnt pull of a 'The Walking Dead' on that (for those who dont know: The Walking Dead likes to smurf with logic)
p.s my bf is ho-ri-ble with names and characters. he tried explaining a fault in a scene ''when sansa's bother stabbed that man'' ..... thats not her brother, thats Theon :3 i understand that there are alot of characters.. but some names you should just know..
I've been wondering hard about Melisandre, and pretty unhappy that zero progress was made with Jon. We waited a full god damn season break and the only thing that happened to him is he was moved about twenty feet on set. I feel unsatisfied. Additionally, I wonder what the point was of showing us what an old bag Melisandre is. Isn't the rule that only death can pay for life? It made me wonder if she might sacrifice herself in order to bring Jon/R'llhor to life because she's a withered old maid or something. I cannot see a reason why they would show us that image of her after five seasons unless it was to discredit her powers as smoke and mirrors, which they clearly aren't because of the womb demon that she killed Renly with (and other instances, etc). I guess there's also a possibility that she could literally be anyone, though, including possibly someone of past importance because she clearly isn't who she says she is. I still think that showing us how old she is might mean that it's time for her to go.
I'm interested to see how Davos is going to turn out, though. I like that he's banding together with the good men of the Night's Watch.
Happy to see Margaery again. I wonder what they have in store for her. They seem to be going much easier on her than they did on Cersei. She still has all her hair and seems resistant. I hope she ends up okay.
I'm so done with the Dorne plotline. I don't care about about the Sand Snakes uprising. They're so smurfing dull. I'll admit that Tristane's murder was a surprise, but also incredibly stupid and unnecessary.
I guess I don't understand why Dany didn't protest in regard to being send to the widow's temple? Why is she adamant about not being raped and stands up for herself, giving all of her names and declaring who she is and what she isn't going to do, but when she is recognized and then told that they're going to send her to the widow's temple, she just flops over and isn't resistant at all? That makes no sense to me.
I'm glad Sansa and Theon are both in safe hands, finally. Looking forward to what Tyrion and Varys will be doing in Meereen. I think it's a bit odd that there was no Bran scene, but I never really had an interest in his storyline.
Does anyone else get the feeling that the blonde girl beating the smurf out of Arya with a staff is Syrio? I can't believe he's dead. We never saw him die, and when Arya was whining to the Hound about how Meryn Trant killed him, he said, "Any boy whore with a sword could beat three Meryn Trants." I honestly don't believe that he's dead. He was too good of a sword master and Braavosi on top of that. It's too much of a coincidence that Arya ended up in Bravos. I think he's still alive.
edit: forgot to mention that Jon might have used his warg powers to embody Ghost, but I feel like we would have seen more of Ghost if that were the case. Either way, it's not totally ruled out. The Stark warg powers have barely been used in the show and have only really been touched on by Bran. Now would be a good opportunity for Jon's to reveal themselves.
I think it was to show that she is losing her faith. In the after the episode inside the episode thing, D&D said she was centuries old. I mean think about it, she thought Stannis was the lord of light, and he died. She burned a kid for that. Then she thought she saw jon at winterfell but he's dead. In waaaay past, when she was talking to Selyse she had potions and said that she can look however she wanted to get what she wanted. I think the point of her not worrying about that and going back to her old age was her losing all faith of what she was told. not that the lord of light doesn't exist but that she was told wrong. If she's centuries old, that's a huge slap in the face for hundreds of years of faith.
The same thing happened to Thoros of Myr, or so he said, he lost his faith and welp, we know how that turned out :jess:
So I think this is important for her to hit a low spot before she brings Jon back *fingers crossed* or at least that's what I hope.
Me too. Nymeria better come back at some point to save Sansa or Arya. If the end of this series has Arya as a Daredevil-like vigilante with Nymeria at her side, well then I don't care what else happens to this world.
I hope Ghost is not the life that pays for Jon to be reborn. How did resurrection work when Thoros did it? I don't remember someone dying.
i honestly dont think this will be the last of (sexy) Melisandre.
i guess we'll see if she lost faith or if its just a night ritual next week.
http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo...bw_460s_v1.jpg
I just realised we've seen two of the great houses wiped out in as many episodes. Damn, the show ain't smurfing around.
Shorty Cersei had her hair cut off etc because she confessed. Margeary hasn't confessed which is why she's still in the tower
I kind of want to go watch Hardholme again just cause it was awesome. Saw it in the "last time on.." preview haha and thought about rewatching.
http://m.imgur.com/gallery/qwc3E
Maisie Williams is the smurfing greatest.
She really is! That's awesome that she did that. She seems so fun and friendly.
I don't think she's just rolling over and taking it. We get literally a few seconds of her after she finds out that's what they expect. I think she's taken somewhat by surprise there and isn't quite sure what to do yet. That doesn't mean she's just going to take it. If there's one thing we know about her it's that she doesn't just take anything. But there's a difference between objecting immediately to being raped and pointing out she was married to Drogo to avoid it and figuring out what she's going to do about this. She clearly has more time to figure out her next move, and also probably realizes this is the sort of thing they won't take a no on no matter what she says in protest. There's slightly less urgency but she needs to be careful about what she does here. Right now she's got no army, no friends, and no dragons. She's got little actual leverage here and realizes it. Now is a time to tread a bit carefully.Quote:
I guess I don't understand why Dany didn't protest in regard to being send to the widow's temple? Why is she adamant about not being raped and stands up for herself, giving all of her names and declaring who she is and what she isn't going to do, but when she is recognized and then told that they're going to send her to the widow's temple, she just flops over and isn't resistant at all? That makes no sense to me.
The blonde girl beating up Arya is the girl from the House of the Black and White who was blind last season. She's no longer blind. Doesn't mean she's not Syrio (I personally love the idea Jaqen is Syrio) and the whole "I'll see you tomorrow" thing rings of Syrio.
I also got the impression that Melisandre's taking off the necklace was a nightly ritual. Possibly she just wanted to see and live as her true self.
Prediction: SansaxPod
Not gonna lie: I got teary-eyed both during Brienne pledging herself to Sansa and when Cersei sees Myrcella's shroud. Also I laughed when Spearsnake stabbed Dandyprince through the head.
I also think that Mel stripped away all of her illusions and glamor because she was in a moment of crisis and needed to remind herself what was actually "Real". Her visions have proven false lately and in this moment she allows herself to be at her most vulnerable. Perhaps it is her nightly ritual as well when she is alone but this struck me as something more. I think it speaks to how some sort of magic or miracle will bring back Jon, thus re-invigorating her faith in the Lord of Light again but we shall see.
Davos' mutton line was a much needed tension breaker, though I do wonder why are the Night Watch being so polite to him? Stannis isn't there and they've clearly shown they have no problem dealing out violence, so why this sort of formal stand-off? I figured they'd have kicked in the door to burn Jon's body already. Though, why they left it out there in the first place speaks to either A) They were making a point and don't care that he could very quickly come back via the White Walkers or B) They still don't fully believe in that sort of magic. Either way, a very rude awakening is coming quickly for them.
Anytime Varys and Tyrion can be paired together bodes well for entertainment, though I admit to being tired of the politics of trying to conquer a people who don't want a real government. It's clear that no matter who is in charge, there are beliefs and long held grudges that no manner of strength of intellect can easily undo. I think ultimately both of them will realize they're on a fool's errand trying to maintain order there and get out quickly.
Though, the ships being burnt gave a might compelling reason to re-introduce the Greyjoys in the coming weeks, which I think have already been teased.
Also, so glad we finally saw some of the "good" guys win, with Pod and Brienne riding to the rescue. Since this is GoT, it means some new darkness is right around the corner, but for this week at least, a feeling of hope can actually linger. Also, I would be overjoyed if somehow Arya and Syrio were re-united. That would make my day. I remain skeptical but again, hope springs eternal.
I'd imagine the next few weeks will deal more with Sam's journey south and we'll finally be brought back to Bran, who may or may not have a large part to play in Jon Snow's ultimate fate.
Take care all.
I'm trying to give Dorne the benefit of the doubt and see where it goes this season before laying into it, but I don't know how long that restraint will last.
What I will say is that "greedy bitch" is up there with "bad pussy" as one of the worst lines ever written for GoT.
Ooh, didn't consider this. That's definitely an exciting prospect!
Anyone heard the E=D theory? Put any stock into it? I think it sounds pretty likely tbh. Obviously, spoilers if correct but it's just speculation: E=D
Loving some of the stuff I was going through last night on imgur, can't find them at the moment but there was one excellent point brought up: "I've seen what these dogs can do", Theon says. Yeah: Disappear as soon as a battle starts. Seriously, what happened to the dogs? xD
WHERE THE smurf IS BENJEN?
Benjen has been secured for a dramatic return in season 17.
Guys, book spoilers and show spoilers ahead. If you've not watched the latest episode of Game Of Thrones then why not, if you've watched it and aren't up on the books but don't want book information... skip my post.
(SPOILER)So in the books the ressurective power of Thoros of Myr is explained that it takes away from him little by little until it is impossible for him to bring someone back. If I recall correctly... (sorry re-reading the books but not up to this again yet) When Beric Dondarrion insists he brings Cat Stark back as Lady Stoneheart, Thoros refused. He said she was too far gone and it would be against nature or something very similar. Beric Dondarrion gave no trouts about his own survival and so gives up his life in order to bring Cat back.
Now, that strikes me as something that is important in Melisandre in the show.
We know, that Melisandre is said to be centuries old. As such, she must have used a great deal of power staying alive so long. The fact that she has also cast a Glamour for much of this if not all of this duration to ensure that she is young and beautiful instead of old and hag like is also telling that she has great power. In the book, she doesn't just cast a glamour spell on herself, she known to have cast one on Rattleshirt making him look like Mance Rayner so that he can be "given to the flames" in stead of Mance Rayder. Something the TV production so far as we know chose to avoid going with.
Melisandre thought Stannis was Azor Ahai and saw him fight and win at Winterfell against the Boltons. However, Stannis failed and Brienne in the show at least kills him. She said in the episode to Ser Davos that she saw Jon in the flames too at Winterfell. I think that Melisandre doesn't so much as see a specific person as Azor Ahai but rather the being of Azor Ahai himself in the flames. I don't think she can tell whom will become Azor Ahai, at least not fully. Now, it's very clear from how she ended up back at Castle Black when Stannis rode for Winterfell that she began to doubt Stannis was really Azor Ahai and she had come to think (perhaps rightly so) that it is actually Jon who is Azor Ahai.
The death of 2 men whom she believed could be Azor Ahai and face the great other in the coming night and war shakes her faith a lot. She knows she is old and whilst yes, she is capable of great feats, I do not believe that she has the power left to ressurect the dead. At least, not at great personal cost to herself, likely all her remaining life force or enough that she will no longer be able to maintain her vanity glamour. I think the scene at the end is her weighing her options:
1) Let Jon Snow remain dead. The light loses the war against the great other and winter never ends.
2) Whatever the cost, revive Jon Snow, let him live in the hope that he is Azor Ahai and can save the world.
I think that the removal of her glamours before she retires to bed, the way she judges her own appearance and seemingly accepts it means she has made her choice and will likely revive Jon so that he can save Westeros regardless of if it strips her of her powers in the process.
If she does save Jon then it has some interesting considerations for Jon Snow as a character.
In the book Jon learns that his sister Arya is being married to Ramsay Bolton so that the Boltons may claim Winterfell. Unaware that the bride is actually Jeyne Poole, Jon sends Mance to rescue her while Stannis marches on Winterfell. Jon later receives a letter from Ramsay claiming that Stannis has been defeated and Mance is a prisoner. Ramsay demands hostages, else he will march on the Wall and kill Jon. Jon decides to seek out and kill Ramsay himself, but he is stabbed by his Night's Watch brothers seeking to uphold the Watch's political neutrality before he can leave Castle Black. In the show obviously this whole lead up doesn't happen however, he's led out by Olly at the promise of news of Uncle Benjen but stabbed for quite a bit of the same stuff, chiefly, he let the wildlings through.
Now, Jon swore an oath that binds him to the wall and the watch until death. Only in death does his watch end. Well he's been killed, and that means his watch is done. If he is brought back by Melisandre, then he's technically free of his oath. He's also in a good position to become the leader of a Wildling army. Which is perhaps a little ironic as Mance Rayder was once a member of the Nights Watch and it's often mentioned how alike he and Jon are at times but Jon swears repeatedly he would never become Mance. This army would then be in a good position to rally banners in the north and take Winterfell back.
Alternatively, Jon could view his ressurection as a continuance of his life and so feel that he cannot abandon his post at the watch. Which would leave one hell of a show down to be had with Alister Thorne.
I'm not going to lie however, as much as I am really enjoying the show, it simply doesn't compare to the books. Mainly because, the writing of the show is in parts and certain storylines (Jaime & Cersei in particular) is pretty smurfing awful in it's choice of direction.
Osmurf's sake, Steve. Take the two seconds and use spoiler tags for book trout.
:aimkiss:
While this theory is probably one of the more sensible of the Reddit tinfoil, I highly doubt this is the case. Going to put the rest of it in spoiler tags JUST IN CASE.
(SPOILER)Euron and Daario look nothing alike based on their book descriptions, and now that Euron has been cast in the show I find this even more unlikely. The only way to explain this now would be if E/D is a Faceless Man or some trout and that would be so over the top and disappointing. This is a common issue, wherein Martin will set up two characters as a mirror-image or foil of each other and ASoIaF fans, in trying to drum-up their own excitement between books, go ballistic and THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON/EACH OTHER'S MOM AND/OR DAD AND ALSO A MERMAN.
In response to SteveHow interesting it would it if Mance turns out to be Azor Ahai. In the books, he could still win the battle at Winterfell and lead the troops against the darkness. In the show, he could still be sent to retake Winterfell at some future time and then continue on the fight the dark army. It's not likely, but it is a possibility.
comparing book vs show http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aE7bR7K_700b.jpg
i personaly agree the most with the Arianne Martell part. i loved her story in the books :3 (im not fully caught up with the books, im at a third of A Dance With Dragons now)
and ofcourse the Sand Snakes. they are so diverse and interesting in the book but in the show they just really suck..
a joke from the last episodehttp://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aGxqEE0_460s.jpg
What I don't get with the current Dorne storyline is the actions of Ellaria Sand. So your paramour and lover is killed. What to do next? Oh, I know, kill his beloved brother and nephew!
How does that make sense?
Especially when she is saying that Oberyn was murdered when no he really wasn't.
indeed, he volunteered to be Tyrions champion, and then he screwed it up.
it all went according to the 'rules' :3
it wasnt just about Oberyn tho.
it was also about the death of Elia Martell and the fact that Doran did nothing to avenge Elia and her children.
So for years they felt like justice was cheated from them.
She thinks Doran is weak, and she wants someone strong in controle.
It wasn't just about Oberyn, but at the end of the day you're still killing his beloved brother.
I mean, I could even get killing Doran if you're so blinded by a desire to do something, but Trystane? You could just imprison him.
I'm actually looking forward for this little plot of theirs to come crashing down. Those Sand Snakes are so bad. Might as well kill them.
I don't think we are meant to apply logic and reason to the Sands' actions. They appear to be driven by emotion and bloodlust and don't care for long-term consequences of their actions.
They're going to get thoroughly smurfed up by FrankenMoutain.
She said he was "butchered" in the scene when she kills Doran, not murdered. I think butchered is putting it lightly as well :/
Honestly, I'm not too fussed by the whole Dorne thing at this stage. They have a lot to make up for from last season as it felt like it was just an excuse to put in some boobs, coupled with terrible, terrible fight choreography (I mean, Oberyn was so insanely awesome to watch when he fought, and then that was how they followed it up with his daughters/countrymen?). But it will be interesting to see a power hungry woman who's making enemies left and right try and keep her land under control. All the while some giant, grey, gross looking mother-smurfer is literally walking along the bottom of the ocean floor towards her with instructions to pop her head like a water-balloon.
Something everyone seems to be missing from this Dorne thing is Areo Hotah was killed. He's supposed to be like the ultimate bad-ass and one of the greatest warriors in the world.
Yeah, I didn't like how simple it was for him to be murdered.
