I've never developed a callous no matter how long I'd play a D-pad fighting game. Some people must be mashing too hard on the pad. The bigger problem I seem to have is cramps in my pinkies or sometimes ring fingers from gripping under the controller too hard for too long (long strings of intense fights. Boo)
