I'm thinking it's in the Gi Cave. It's underground, the boss is a fire boss. I looked up the treasure you can pick up there, and one of them is the Fairy Ring. It's circular and protects you. So I'll guess that.

I'm sure I'm going the wrong direction with this, but it seems like solid reasoning.

Anyway, Jinx's guess of the Fairy Ring was as close as can be! The clue to the location is in the first and second lines.

Oh! Is it the Gelnika?

Good guess! I assume you're referring to the Key of the Ancients and it being in "a place that even sunlight can't reach"

No though, it isn't underwater.

There are two/three words in the first two lines that relate to the item's location.

Is it chocobo racing?

I feel like the location could probably be somewhere near Costa del Sol? That's what prompted me to say "underwater".
