all of my yes
It's all about hearing the trying story of becoming Pikachu.
I think this is everything i need in my life right now.
The movie got leaked. Whatever you do, do not watch it. I'm posting it so you know what not to watch. Definitely do not watch this leak.
suddenly i'm not on board
uncanny valley, yikes
After release weekend, I'll be interested to see the reviews of longtime Pokemon fans vs just kids and adults who wanted to see an adorable flick. Especially if there are a number of inside jokes, it's inevitable long time fans will get a special appreciation from it.
I just saw it this morning and I've got a few spoiler free thoughts.
I enjoyed it for the most part. It was fun and heartwarming, as you might expect.
Was it PG Deadpool? Not really. If your qualifier is just that Ryan Reynolds has to be sarcastically funny, than I mean, it's hard to say no. But in terms of content, this movie is pretty much through and through a kid's movie. There aren't really any jokes that are a wink for the adults watching, maybe 1 or 2.
I'd say there were a few insider things you'd catch if you're a Pokemon fan, but you can pretty much go in blind to watch a movie where people live with cute CGI friends.
The score was awesome.
My theater gave out Pokemon cards so that was prime choice
Yooo this trout was off the chain! I loved it! The first good Hollywood movie based on a video game.! I wasn't going to see it unless the reviews were good and they were. Fan service all day in there.
I really didn't expect to see a bunch of children in my theater. I thought children now didn't care about Pokemon. I'm going to see it again when there are less of them there. I have a ton to say about this movie, but I'll split it in separate posts.
My kids are 5 and they are obsessed with pokemon. It's pokemon all day every day in my house. So of course I took them to this movie. I liked it and they loved it. They did a good job integrating pokemon into the real world. The designs were cute, especially bulbasaur and comfey. I would have liked to see them include more species and a few more easter eggs but there was enough for me to enjoy it. Some cool twists too!
I liked the twist that the dude with the pointy ears, he was Ryan Reynolds the whole time.
Edit: also, last night I guess in anticipation for the movie, I had a dream that despite the realistic graphics of the Pokémon, they were still using the sound effects from Red and Blue.
Very cute movie. My husband and I for some reason were surprised to see children at this children's movie. We were pretty much the only adults there without kids. I didn't know kids were still into Pokemon this much, I guess I shouldn't be surprised!
It was OK, fun seeing all the pokemon and Ryan Reynolds was good value but Zootopia and Who Framed Roger Rabbit did this stuff a lot better.
It was actually pretty damn good! I went in expecting a hot mess, but it was actually a fully cohesive, engaging film which was consistently good throughout and had some really great moments.
