I remember the last time this came up, it was a great idea back then and still is, damn lot of work mind.
I can't decide, either a normal phoenix but with an ash effect, or a sort of dark version of a phoenix, not like dieing, more battle-hardened. I'll leave it up to your artistic preference :D.
