Squall(8), Guy(2), Galuf(5), Rinoa(8), Yuna(10), Shadow(6), Rikku(10), Amarant(9)
Frontz0rs: Guy, Galuf, Squall-- especially when galuf is in my favorite job class for him (Honestly, I think of him as a monk all the time-- his bare clothes aren't familiar to me because I use him as a monk so often) these guys are all good attackers/defence. Plus Guy knows ultima:D and some other useful stuff that I don't really use because i have to attack since he is statusproof and maria quit hitting for damage at all stupid cane user. (no krile/cara for me. galuf all the way baby) Renzokuken should be a given. Plus the bonus from pulling the gunblade trigger
Middle: Amarant, Rinoa, Shadow-- That way they don't have to take the brunt of the force, and their physical attacks are still worth something. Shadow has interceptor, amarant has CHAKRA and all those auto life stuffs:D aura or something. I always liked having him^_^ (chakra all is just too friggin' awesome) And rinoa is the strongest one in my ff8 party (255 str with like. . . esuna junctioned? squall has flare and only has 254:P)
Back: Yuna, Rikku. Because honestly. They don't need to be in the front. There's no reason for it. They can hit just as well from the back after the sphere grid is customized and strength is maxed:) Plus rikku's mix is divine (light curtainsx2 are my current favorite:D) and yuna has summons. That's an extra ten party members, in eight different parties:D and they both have white magic and most other abilities basically mastered. And they know enough black magic that I dont' need a real black mage. because I never really liked them too much (except for galuf. he was an awesome black mage ;_;)

3: Kane from ff4, to be the 'cool' kid
4: Faris from ff5, because pirates rule!
5: Layla from ff2, because pirates rule twicemore!
6: Edgar from ff6, because every party needs a womanizer
7: Bahamut. I mean, how nifty would it be to have a dragon at your party?
8: The entire island of Besaid, to make up the numbers

Outcome: Well, the girls will probably make it with only minor anal bruising. As for me, I'll probably die from dehydration caused by excessive expenditure of body fluids.
(SPOILER)And yeah, Interceptor is a girl. Trust me....

1) Celes - FFVI (what's that, no magic going to be hurting my party?)
2) Kain - FFIV
3) Vivi - FFIX
4) Garnet - FFIX (guess I could use a Summoner, and some white magic too, so sadly it's Garnet and not Rydia)
5) Barret - FFVII (needed to get a long range physical attacker in)
6) Edgar - FFVI (tools > you)
7) Rydia - FFIV (more offensive magic is never a bad thing, nor are more summons)
8) Cecil - FFIV (Paladins are also lovely)
9) General Leo Christophe - FFVI (Shock <3)
I tried to avoid using too many newer characters (though I wouldn't have minded Edea or trance Kuja, nor Beatrix). Since everyone seems to be arranging them in rows...

6) ZELL-cool character personality wise.
7) RIKKU-i mean she won the best female award thing for video game awards thats awesome!
8) ZIDAINE-even tho he would get mixed up w/ Cloud

Leader-Cecil Harvey. (Paladin.)
Why?-As ex-captain of the Red Wings, he's a born leader.
Raw power-Zell Dincht.
Why?-Because he'll kick your ass. Physically strong and skilled in fighting.
Stealth-Shadow.
Why?-Speed, precision slicing, and he's hardest to see in the dark, making him perfect. And Interceptor kicks Angelo's ass, any day.
Long Range-Wakka.
Why?-His Blitzball almost never misses. That, and he's got a cool Jamaican accent.
Aviation-Cid Highwind.
Why?-Who knows more about airships than him?
Conscience-Rikku.
Why?-Her upbeat attitude keeps the team going in their darkest hour. Her agility's decent, too.
Magic-Lulu.
Why?-Because her black magic is devastating.

AURON (ffx): great attack power and power lowering abilities
RYDIA (ffiv): Meteo, nuke and summons. enough said
BUTZ as bluemage (ffv): Blue magic like mighty guard, white wind, lvl 2old, lvl 3 flare, lvl 5death, mind blast etc..
SQUALL (ffviii): I guess everyone would like a guy in party who can do 6x7000+ dmg and after that immidiatly 21x9999 dmg
WAKKA (ffx): Hello there, attack reels!?
ROSA (ffiv): another healer, has cure4, holy and haste

Alright here is my Crew.
Quina (gotta love blue magic and then 9999 frog drop whenever you want)
Garnet(God summons rule and her white magic just helps everytime)
Black mage/Vivi(Their spells flat out rule and BM is the best old character) They are interchangable.
Lulu(Black and White magic what can i say)
Steiner(Excalibur 2 rules and he can use his sword magics with Black mage same as with Vivi i would assume)
Cloud (Gawd when i need physical damage done I just can't replace a nice OMNISLASH)
Cecil (FFII paladin form. Just shouting out to the old games.)
Sabin (Bum rush or just mantra to keep everyone's HP full either way he is a Stud to have in a party)

Front row (Steiner,Cloud,Cecil,Sabin)
I am a traditionalist so i will only use front and back rows.
