I didn't even know that some of the games I'd played were RPG's until I read through here, but, my fave that isn't FF is Legend of Legaia. :D :D :D

Xenogears is great, from what I've played. The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind is also awesome.
I thought I played more RPGs, but I guess I really don't. It's all action RPGS (do those count?) and survival horror for me.
:D
I like .hack// and Im pretty sure I'll love Xenosaga.

Final Fantasy is not the one and only greatest RPG-creation ever beheld on this earth. Most of them are really great, though. :fpcow:

These days it seems like people are only interested in an RPG if it's Final Fantasy, Xenogears or Chrono. Every once in a while there's a vague mention of Suikoden.
Well, I really liked Wild Arms, the series isn't bad but the first one is forever my favorite. Super Mario RPG was my first RPG experience and it will always have a place in my heart for that reason. Chrono Trigger was an extremely awesome game that anyone should play. Legend Of Legaia was an awesome "fighting" RPG which put a new twist on fights and had a pretty good story as well. I liked Grandia II as well, it was pretty good and it was by far the best RPG for the Dreamcast at that time. I can't think of much more.
i have a feeling KH2 is going to be up there, but star wars: knights of the old republic is great.
Peace out and
EE
Star Ocean: Till the end of time because it has a great story (still, the story is far better for ffz) and Lord of the rings:the Third age because the battle system is a lot like FFs and it has lord of the rings story line :D
Star Ocean (both the SNES and PS2 ones, I haven't played PS1's The Second Story yet), Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle, Xenosaga (including Xenogears), the Chrono games, Terranigma, Rudra no Hihou (great game, by the way)...There're many more, like the recently released Riviera: The Promised Land (that game really surprised me for its great battle system), but these aren't so well-known...
The Suikoden series is the best RPG series ever made.
Lunar SSSC is also an excellent game.
Otherwise: Breath of Fire is a good series, as well.
The more I look back, the more I see how much I really disliked FF games and how I'd put pretty much every other RPG ABOVE FF games.
I really don't see why people rate them so highly, when they mostly run entirely on hype.
Wild ARMs, Breath of Fire, Tales and Star Ocean sereii are all much better than Final Fantasy.
Well, bar SO:TTEOT, that was awful, I blame the insidious touch of Square on that one, ugh horrid story.
