I still don't think they hold hands, i mean looking at irvine's left hand, it looks no different that his right hand. I don't know why you're pushing this point so much, there may not be clear data that says they don't hold hands, but that doesn't show me clearly that they do either... sorry

I don't know why people are so unwilling to believe that they hold hands. Maybe because it doesn't fit with their idea of how Squall, or men in general, should act. *shrugs*Quote:

Whatever. If you've watched the video carefully at maximum size and paused it, and you still can't see it, then what can I do? You can't make a blind man see.
Personally, I'm about 98% certain that they hold hands - and I think it's adorable. Irvine is pretty vulnerable and, upon reflection, I liked the relationship between him and Squall (another vulnerable person) in the game. I say "upon reflection", because I'd never really thought about their relationship until now. The main reason I've pushed this is because I like to be right. :D

Actually, their hands are angled perfectly to be holding hands (without interlocking fingers). Squall's hand is in front (which is fitting - as he is the comforter). Squall is paler then Irvine. You can see Squall's pale fingers curled up around the back of Irvine's hand, and Irvine's darker thumb. Try holding hands with someone some time.... :tongue: That's the position.

The whole point of being right is that you are right, not that you have annoyed everyone so much that they've given up arguing with you.
The fact is that I have viewed the actual video (the one in the game) several times, and it still doesn't look like they're holding hands. If you have a "lighter" video that would show the thing you are trying to present better, than take freezeframes of that one and put them up here. Because the ones you have there and the ones from the game both do nothing to support your theory.
You have also offered no logical explanation as to why they would be holding hands. You seem to think that they make a cute couple. Fine, I think it's a stupid opinion, but it's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. But arguing that they are holding hands is disputing facts, not opinions, and you'll need to present some evidence to back your statements up.
This isn't the US court system. Your theories are not "innocent until proven guilty", but rather the other way around. The burden of proof lies with you, and if you don't present something to justify your claims, then we can dismiss them without a second thought.

Logical explanation? Maybe because Irvine is about to attempt to assassinate an extremely powerful sorceress, and is, like, terrified! I can't think of many situations when someone would need more comfort! Or maybe, as Slade suggested, Squall has just grabbed Irvine's hand to pull him away from the crowd. The problem with this theory is that, if my memory serves, it is Irvine who persuades Squall to leave their positions sometime later (as they're not supposed to), after Rinoa is attacked by the Iguions.Quote:

If you knew anything about either character, then you would no that there isn't a chance in hell that they'd be holding hands at that point. Squall avoids any sort of emotional contact at all, including "comforting" people, whenever possible. And Irvine tries his best to seem like a cool dude who is always in control. Sure, he's scared stiff, but he doesn't show it on the outside, until he gets up to the clock tower. Notice that when they get up there and start freaking out, Squall isn't thinking "Oh, great. Not again", or anything like that. He is at a total loss about what to do. Had he comforted Irvine before, then he would no what to do to comfort him again, and would start with hand holding at acting as a reassuring presence rather than starting by yelling at him to fire, which is what he does.

Im sure he dosnt realize hes comforting her, its probably his leadership qualities coming through, i mean, what else is he supposed to say "Get outa here Rinoa your ruining everything!" or something. Ive noticed that Squall dosnt really have any proper feelings towards Rinoa till the 3rd disk (when Rinoa's in a coma) apart from cold feelings. I was referring to the lovely moment when they finish their dance and come together - just before the fireworks go off - and he just gazes into her eyes. When you look into a person's eyes like that, you tend not to see the rest of them. Everything else seems to fall away....Quote:

I don't think that Rinoa began to truly fall for Squall until the end of the 1st disc. She even tells him later in the game that that was when it happened; that his words - "stay close to me" - were what sealed it for her. I think that at the time they met, Rinoa's heart was still full of Seifer. Sure, she may've been superficially attracted to Squall (let's face it - what girl wouldn't be?) and intrigued by his attitude, but I don't think she exactly longed to see him again. To her, the evening could probably be summed up as just "a dance with a cute guy". Nothing life-changing. I doubt she thought about Squall much (if at all) until their next meeting. But for Squall.... Well, that evening changed his world forever.
I will post the rest of my essay on the dance and it's aftermath (or - "Squall's pre-disc 3 feelings for Rinoa") tomorrow, as I'm now falling asleep on my keyboard.
