Yeah, i beat Ozma quite a few times. It's one of the hardest battles since his moves are random. A few times, I got unlucky and he cursed me at the start of the battle. Then, he meteored (I know that's not a word, but work with me) my entire party.

...Except for the fact that there are only three Dark Matters to be found in the game, two of which come from Ozma himself. Although I've heard you can purchase an unlimited amout of Dark Matters from the Treno auction house in the JAP version.

i havent been playing the japanese version and at some point there was a time here you can get as many dark matters as u like.

too bad there's no w-item in this game. especially one with a glitch. lol ffvii rocks.
i've still never beaten ozma. i utterly fail every time. can't even last a minute. not gonna try anymore lol.

Ozma has many rare items to steal, but just trying to steal them results in death as you attack less.

To answer the topic (I'm a little confused as to why I haven't already), yes, I've beaten Ozma, with a mid-50s level party a few times and with a Lv.1 party about a dozen times. I have saves with a Lv.1 party before every optional boss (as close as possible), and I've beaten them all.

Ozma is not necessarily easy,depending on your skill with final fantasy games, and your experience with ffix (1st playthrough as opposed to 3rd or 4th). However, I find ozma to be one of the more unsatisfying uber bosses in the final fantasy series. Sure you have to use strategy to beat him, and have a few abilities. But when it comes down to the line victory or defeat is entirely dependant on luck (unless ur on lvl 99). So i find it unsatisfying as i either die in the first 3-4 turns from unavoidable meteor/curse combo or i beat him because he casts doomsday at just the right moment.

Compare this to emerald weapon in ffvii. Powerful normal attacks, yet can be beaten without any strategy guiding if you think about it enough.Little to no luck involved in the battle. Because of 'tai rae storm' (i think thats what its called), which damages you dependant on how much materia you have equipped, you have to think careafull about what materia to equip and what to leave out to prevent total party annihilation.

I admit emerald becomes easy once you master final attack materia, phoenix and mime a couple of times but this takes tens of hours. Ozma can be beateb as soon as you get the airship, you just have to get lucky. Ozma may be harder, but that doesnt make him more fun.

yes, and I think it was more luck really.. lol, steiner and vivi ware in the ground... and who was fighting ware only Garnet and Zidane *Zidane with trance and Garnet too* :p

Trance is the only way really.

Trance help against curse at least....
