but then we can't write nasty comments in the deletions.
It shouldn't need a hack. Every other vB I visit has it so regular members can see deleted posts. Find the option, lazy! That was certainly on my list of cons, but you still have the WML.Quote:

Yeah I like eest's idea better. No need for everyone in the world to see the deleted posts.
If users are allowed to see deletion notices, which can be done, I'd rather they only be allowed to see the ones for threads/posts which they'd posted themselves, not everyones, which I can't see a way of doing at the moment, and I don't feel like writing a plugin for that at the moment :p
"No need" is not a reason to not do something. There are pros, and there are cons, and "no need" doesn't fit into either of those.Quote:

So suck it! Especially eest and his turkey sucking face!
the problem is if all of a sudden all deletion notices were vicible, some things might be seen that were never intended to be read by anyone outside staff. for example, sometimes I write love notes to Leeza in the deletion notices.
*visible :)
And sometimes I use words that wouldn't set a very good example. :)
*vices Leeza*
I mean that lovingly, of course.
seriously, you can't make stuff visible now without us having to go through and clen up anything we only wrote because it wasn't visible. It's just not going to happen.
No need is a perfectly good reason to not do something. What's the point of deleting posts if everyone can just see them anyway?
None of this will help/change anything. In the end it's up to the staff to keep the place tidy. As long as it gets done, it's good enough. Smiling, commenting out posts (which is for our benefit), and showing deleted posts are all trivial matters.
exactly. the deleted posts just lookugly anyway. consider yourselves lucky you can't see them.
I usually comment out the post or make a post in the thread notifying the people that their spam was deleted. I don't care if members can see the deleted posts, as long as it doesn't lead to people pming us and asking what those posts were.
