That'd always been apparent to me despite having never read the books. My mom's been reading them lately so I could ask her the goings-on in Goblet of Fire if I desperately wanted to know . . . but I really don't.
You're right that at times the camera makes it seem that Herm and Har are gonna be at each other like rabbits. It's usually the storytellers goal to make the main character a paragonal vacuum. You expect that all the best and most exciting things will happen to him and him alone because you're meant to see more of yourself in him. I mean, the books and movie are called Harry Potter. You, of course, when reading or watching these stories would want to see yourself as part of the main story and not some silly side plot . . . and, of course, it is human nature to be a little greedy. I used to think that way when I was a boy (10 or 11 maybe).

Yes! :D It disturbs me, because it felt like the story was moving around the snogs as opposed to the snogs moving around the story.
