I think the jump in quality made more sense when I found out the development team had 450 people on it at one point. I've never even heard of a development team being that large so I assume Ubisoft's solution was to throw people at the game until it didn't suck like the first one. Certainly explains the massive jump in content and the very different feel of each city in the game.
magic 2012, new vegas and tiger woods road to the masters 2012
Replaying FFTA2 on Hard Mode which isn't really that hard, it turns out.
Minecraft
Finished Final Fantasy II, got Platinum on inFAMOUS and got my Burnout Licence on Burnout: Paradise. Currently playing FFVI and not sure what I'll playon the PS3/360 just yet...
Currently playing Killzone 3. Seems like an improvement over Killzone 2 in every way. And seeing as I loved Killzone 2, Killzone 3 gets a thumbs up from me.
- Gears of War 2. Horde mode with certain posters on these here forums. Honestly it's amazing how it can still invoke massed shouts of profanity. "OH tit THAT smurfING BLOODMOUNT IS HERE BLOODMOUNT smurf smurf smurf" and that it somehow always manages to feel like an epic siege.
- L.A. Noire. Got the new DLC case. Was pretty decent I guess, although I was never a huge fan of the arson cases as it's inevitably a bitch to find any in tact evidence at the crime scenes.
- Mass Effect 2. My ridiculous Must. Do. EVERYTHING! mantra when it comes to Western RPGs does not mean I will complete this game anytime soon.
- Dynasty Warriors 7. Benevowhat?
- Resident Evil 5. I wish to get myself a niiiiiiiiiiiice bonus.
Assassin's Creed 2 on PS3.
Minecraft, Terraria, Civ IV, X-Com, Kerbal Space Program. That last one there I just started playing today, but I imagine I'll be spending some quality time with it. Terraria is another one I started playing recently and is surprisingly addictive. The other three games are a part of my usual rotation, it would appear.
Ratchet&Clank
Pokemon Fire Red
Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks
Final Fantasy VI
XenoSaga (I probably won't get around to continuing this because so far I'm not enjoying it at ALL)
I'm on sabbatical from gaming. I think it's been a month... or perhaps time is being distorted by game-addled nerves...
Final Fantasy XIV - The new patch has made the game much more enjoyable and party invites are becoming regular things which is always a good sign. Fingers crossed the ongoing improvements keep us playing. Now, if only I could keep up with Danielle when it comes to leveling...!
Dwarf Fortress - Just a little bit longer...
Final Fantasy VI - Well, not this past week, but now that I'm heading back to work I'm sure I'll be playing it on the bus again.
When I'm not masterminding the expansion of the Dwarf Fortress Spoonproblems I am often found shooting the trout out of the Horde in Gears 2 or else shooting the trout out of the heads of people on Black Ops online. I need to restart FFXIII (I know I know, it's 20 hours tutorial blah blah blah but smurf you I want to do it properly) Finish AC1 so I can move on to 2, play the games I have never even put in my console tray, blast some more zombies on DR2 with Paul and maybe if there's time left over, I'll spend it playing more DF.
I just beat Final Fantasy X-2 a couple days ago. I was going for 100% completion but eventually realized that I had messed something up early on in the game and stopped caring. The perfect ending really isn't worth it anyways. Otherwise, I did everything except for finishing Via Infinito (level 80 and on kicked my butt). So, I'm done with that but am thinking of going back and trying to get to the end of Via Infinito when I have time.
Otherwise, I was going to start FF V only to run into the saving problem on the ps3. So, I'm probably going to invest in the Gameboy Advance version eventually. I will probably play through IV on the DS until then though. Either that or I will go back and try to finish Jeanne D'Arc as I kept being busy with other things every time I sat down to play it.
Once I move back into the dorms for school, I'll probably spend a lot of time playing Star Fox, Pokemon Snap, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1, and Zelda with my friends at school.
I guess in the end, I'm really playing nothing right now.
Almost done with inFAMOUS, which I discussed in another thread. After that I will probably play God of War 2. After that I am out of new games! I got Little Big Planet as part of the freebie program but I'm pretty spoiled by Nintendo when it comes to 2D platformers. LBP really has nothing on DKC, Kirby, or Super Mario.
I have a question. Would I like Red Dead Redemption? I'm not a big fan of 'open world' games but I hear this is one of the best games out there. What I like is a centralized story that progresses linearly. inFAMOUS had many open world elements but it more or less followed a set storyline. Certain areas were blocked out until the story progressed into those areas and the side missions were easily separated from the main missions and could be ignored without impacting things much. I liked that. I don't like a blank canvas where I could literally do anything because in those cases I just run around aimlessly. I need focus.
I also want to get Mass Effect 2 and God of War 3. That plus RDR would keep me busy for quite a while. It would be nice if Gamestop did another 'Buy 2 get 1 free' promotion of used games so I could get all three of them.
I reckon you might enjoy RDR Murder, the reasons being thus:
Initially areas are sealed off from the player, the player must progress the main story to unlock them.
Mission lines all tie in to key missions, a player can only do so many missions for one person until that person becomes unavailable to them until the other missions are done.
Free-hunting, basically instead of roaming around a place like Liberty City randomly shooting NPC's in the face with an assault rifle because "y'know it's fun" in RDR you're given an option where you don't need to break the law but can go hunting for an indefinite amount of time in the wilderness of the wild west. So long as you've ammo in the gun it's good. Whats more, skinning/plucking/picking the flowers on your hunt means you can sell them on to generate game wealth.
Stranger missions are random storylines which have no completion dead line (usually) but can often be completed in under 30 mins or so allowing you to find a random mini-story in the game.
Help missions crop up as you ride around these are quite repetitive but range from save the hanging man, defeat the bandit tricksters, help the person survive whatever animals/persons are hunting him, help the local law enforcement and assist shopkeeps by chasing down thieves.
Gambling, the gambling mini-games are amongst the most balanced I've ever played.
So yeah a few reasons to like RDR aside from it's awesome multiplayer.
dominion
like every waking second
Slowly but surely I'm making my way through Vagrant Story. Also borrowed a DSi with Pokémon Platinum from a friend.
Currently running through a Nuzlocke Challenge for Pokemon Gold on my original GBC. The two standard rules plus the following: "set" battle style, no Master Ball, no dupe Pokemon clause, no legendaries. Other than that scads of TF2 and LoL.
Currently getting back into FF1, got back to where I was in my old game and twice as far in a day. (Finished 2 crystals advanced jobs derp)
When I finish 1 ima get back into FF5, beat it then get back into FF6 (lost my savestate due to stupid crap)
After FF6 I want to get my hands on FF7/9 and beat both of those.
I will also get around to beating ratchet and clank and earthbound in due time.
I'll also beat metroid zero mission and LoZ spirit tracks eventually...
The sad thing is, I'm playing through them all at the same time. I am terrible at sticking to one game.
I got Mount & Blade Warband and Mount & Blade: Fire & Sword a few days ago at a LAN party. Mostly played Fire & Sword because we couldn't get Warband working on the network, but I've been messing around with Warband's singleplayer mode since I got back.
Fire & Sword involves old-school muskets and pistols that have terrible accuracy, hold one shot at a time, and take forever to reload. After dying a few times I remembered a show I saw once about pirates, and how it mentioned that they'd carry several pistols with one shot each when they raided other ships. It ended better than I was expecting it to. Although slicing people's faces in half with a pole axe after I got tired of shooting them was where all the real fun was...
I was playing ffXII about a month back. I'm busy writing.
Finished Shin Megami Tensei III, and AC2, as well as Devil Survivor. Went back to an old save of P3:FES so I can finally finish the few things I've never done (Acquire Orpheus Telos, and challenge Elizabeth to name a few) but this is mostly my "work off steam" game, along with an FFVIAdvance file I'm toying with; while I finish off the excellent Catherine, and finally start playing Digital Devil Saga, which both require a little more love and commitment.
Afterwords, I plan on starting AC: Brotherhood and by then, Persona 2: Innocent Sin will be released. :D
Finally playing through Batman: AA.
Infamous 2 :D
at the first place it didnt really agree on Cole's new look, but after a while im starting to really like it.
i also love the fact that they put those monsters in the game, becaus i dont like it if all the enemy's only shoot at you.
Cole's new powers are awesome, though they make it a little to easy sometimes.
This game was sure worth buying!!
I've actually been playing through Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits again, because I've yet to complete it. The first time I got through to the end of it I was so ridiculously under-leveled that I couldn't even train on the normal monsters for the final boss. This time, thankfully, I am, instead, horribly over-leveled.
I just beat Final Fantasy IV for the DS. I am thinking about continuing my play through of Infamous or getting out Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls to play. I'm in a kick to try to beat every non-MMO Final Fantasy, and currently have yet to play I, II, III, V, and XII. I have a lot of games I need to beat, haha.
Also, I'm playing through Pokemon Emerald in my spare time.
I'm quitting DDS for now. Its a great game with a cool plot, but Nocturne really burned me out and I feel like playing something either old school or more "cookie cutter RPG". I kind of want to take a shot at Shadow Hearts but with school around the corner, I don't want to get heavily invested in something new while I have more pressing real life issues to deal with. Besides, P2:IS is a month away... :shifty:
Part of me is thinking of doing a playthrough of either Wild ARMS, Breath of Fire, or Suikoden.
Civ IV Fall from Heaven mod.
Currently, I'm rewarding myself with ten turns of it for every paragraph that I write in a book I'm working on.
It is the best writing motivator I have ever used.
I'm pretty much throwing my other games into the void temporarily and focusing on FFV and playing pokemon leaf green when I get bored. I have to say, I met Gilgamesh yesterday and he's freaking awesome. (Not to mention Battle On the Big Bridge further solidified itself as one of my favorite FF tracks)
I'm enjoying FFV immensely, there are just so many useful combinations. I'm currently running
Butz! (yes I put an "!" after his name) : Dual Wielding Dragoon (Only my favorite ff job of all time)
Lenna: Ninja with x-fight (Overpowered much?)
Galuf: Summoner / White mage
Faris: Red mage / black mage (working on doublecast)
Okay I just finished Batman AA and I can't be bothered doing all the trophies and challenges. It was a nice game, I enjoyed it. It wasn't really challenging at all though, and the last two fights were far too easy.
Hmm, now to pick something else in my Steam library to play... Or I had considered playing a Final Fantasy game, not sure.
Currently replaying Grand Theft Auto IV for the hell of it.
I'm about 20 or so missions shy of completing the storyline.
Dear Roman,
I'm getting money to pay off debts you made, I don't wanna go friggin bowling or drinking.
Just beat God of War II and it was smurfing awesome. Can't wait until I play God of War III, which I just bought. But first, I will give Mass Effect 2 a try since that game gets so much crazy hype I'd be a fool to not even try it.
Ome: You found Poison Ivy easy? I thought she was the hardest boss in the game!
I'm getting ready to finally start Shin Megami Tensei Persona for the PSP because I'm trying to play them all.
I've already beat 3 FES and 4 multiple times. Now I've just got 1, both parts of the second one, and and P3P and I will have beat them all.
Gran Turismo 5
Final Fantasy IV DS
The Undergarden
and replaying
Uncharted Drake's Fortune
Hope i'll finish FFIV before Xenoblade comes.
Playing Mass Effect. I've only really played 2-3 hours worth, and I think I am just too restless to sit down with an RPG at this time. But I might try and persevere.
since ive got plenty of time i decided to start playing Assassins creed 2 (and after that brotherhood) again
I recently discovered my boyfriend's laptop can play Portal 2. So I'm playing Portal 2!
My spoilery progress:
(SPOILER)Wheatley has just taken over the facility and GLaDOS is a potato. At first I was like "omg why did you kill Wheatley he was going to be my best friend forever" and then he wasn't dead but then it turned out he wasn't my friend forever anyway. After he turned GLaDOS into a potato he punched me way into the ground and I fell forever and then I wound up in some place and a bird took off with GLaDOS so I wandered around until I came upon the old Aperture Science facility and a guy on the intercom was talking about tests and repulsion gel so I was like "oh okay, still some testing to do, I guess I can go to bed now since I'm not about to beat it like I thought I was." And now I'm a work and I want to go home and play it some more.
Maybe, just maybe, someday I can play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Someday.
I don't know what class to choose on ME2. Somebody tell me which one is the best. :( I picked Soldier at first but it seems boring (though I only played for an hour).
Playing a combination of Mass Effect 2 and Valkyria Chronicle at the moment. I've got a save on the original Metal Gear Solid at a mate's house that I've been working through slowly (and badly), and I also have been playing random flash games etc that Pike shows me.
Yeah, do soldier first or never, because it is SO boring once you've done the other classes. I recommend Adept or Vanguard, because biotics in ME2 are so fun. Vanguard has the Charge ability, which is the coolest one in the game.
The main advantage to soldier is more weapon damage and health, which won't matter when you pwn everyone with biotics, and the ability to carry all weapons at once, which won't matter because in other classes the abilities easily make up for it and later on you can pick an additional weapon of your choice anyway.
What's really fun is using Pull to make someone float toward you, because when they're floaty they're more vulnerable to Throw, which will make them fly off the map in that state xD
I went with Sentinel because in FF games I always liked the Paladin role. Except for Sentinel in FFXIII which was boring as hell to play. It also sounds like a well-rounded role. Adept sounded cool but I read that you can't manipulate enemies with shields meaning it's pretty useless on tougher fights until the shields get broken. Dunno if that's true but it scared me off it. Vanguard was a top choice as well but I'm pretty sucky at close combat in shooting games.
Yeah, I don't think there are any biotic abilities that do shields, but one of the weapons Adept starts with (sub machine gun, I think) tears right through them, and of course you have your squad members to cover all of your bases too. I tend to bring Garrus along when I play a squishy class anyway, and he has Overload. And most enemies will have amor or a biotic barrier instead of shields. So it doesn't really have to be an issue. I still haven't tried Sentinel though. Maybe I'll do that next time.
I've mostly been playing Starcraft 2 and Team Fortress 2 lately. I need to finish up the last night in Catherine though, and I've also started replaying Warcraft 3. I have to say though, I'm having a hard time playing through it after playing so much SC2. It's just so slow by comparison, and I'm realizing that there are a lot of systems working to make it a much slower paced game than SC2, at least in single player. I'll admit it's been so long since I played the game a lot that I know nothing of playing the game at even a moderately high level anymore, but between slow build times and upkeep, it really seems like Blizzard just wanted you to sit there building your base and stockpiling gold for the first 5-10 minutes before you actually did anything substantial to progress. The only levels that aren't really like this are the ones where you just complete an objective with the units you start with and whatever you find along the way, and while those go faster, they're also my least favourite level type in every Blizzard RTS ever I think.
And I also have to say that the pathing AI is atrocious in WC3. It was so much better than Starcraft was back in 2002 that I never noticed, but trout your units are stupid. I've seen them get stuck on each other for the better part of 30 seconds while they try to figure out who goes in front.
Currently playing Arcanum.... I remember when it first came out 10 years ago, time flies. Playing as a Mage Elf and my alignment is -100 Evil.
No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise.
Looks a lot smoother then the one on the Wii, and the additional boss fights you do in your dreams when you pass out on the toilet is pretty rad.
A really good port of the original game.
I was playing Darkest Hour (the Hearts of Iron version, not the other one) for a bit yesterday. I imagine I'll be back to Civ and Minecraft very shortly, though.
I have also felt like playing Starcraft again but I can't seem to get it to work.
Finished Vagrant Story, but dove right back in for a replay.
Playing pokemon emerald Nuzlocke challenge.
http://151chan.org/dex/src/127039475766.png
I'm only doing the basic first two because I'm not frickin' insane.
I've shed a few manly tears during this run so far, and I'm only half-way done.
Played Batman Arkham Asylum earlier this morning and I'm playing FF8 right now, started a new game an hour or two ago.
Rise from Erebus mod for Civ IV! It's like Fall from Heaven, but with a steampunk civ. It makes me happy.
(I play a loooot of Civ IV.)
9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors. <3
Playing Deus Ex: Human Revolutions.
This games pretty rad, definitely one of the better games out this year.
Age of empires Online
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is possibly going to take up all my free time until 9th September, when Resistance 3 is out.
Street Fighter 3rd Strike.
Just downloaded it on Xbox.
It's a slightly different feel from the Playstation (and let's face it, I was never really very good), and so it's a little bit of relearning, but now I can play against other players via Xbox Live! And that's just awesome!
I am currently playing Sid smurfing Meier's Alpha smurfing Centauri
Greatest game
and it will always be the greatest game
especially when I am doped up on cold meds
I'm playing Tales of Legendia now. Not exactly the best tales game but still it's worth a playthrough.
Also playing Apollo Justice. Ace Attorney games never get old.
Running through my new game+ in Vagrant Story and in doubt whether I want to start a new game or new game+ in Valkyria Chronicles.
Touhoumon blue :p
playing Back to the Future: The Game episode 1, since it is free on psn now
Final Fantasy I for my LP in its forum, Zombie Lane on G+ as a bit of mindless fun (it's actually not bad!) and still grinding my way through Mass Effect 2.
Nearing the end of my Nuzlocke run. Training up for victory road.
Gotta say, this is now my new favorite way to play pokemon. It brought back all the fun I used to have and then some.
About 40 hours into ME2 (PS3 version) and I just realized I got screwed on two fronts. One, I didn't know you could download an interactive comic to catch up on ME1 and make some of the important decisions from that game that influence ME2. Two, I always buy my games used, because I generally don't get to them until months or even years after they first come out. So I didn't realize that the Cerberus Network is only free for new copies of the game and now it's gonna cost me an extra 15 bucks. :(
Playing fftactics
This game is kicking my ass, I'm not used to my opposition in tactics games using actual strategy.
I've lost 2 of my comrades so far. This should be interesting...
started touhoumon blue too :D
Playing through FFI on WiiWare, since I've always felt a little sad I never finished the actual NES version cause my cartridge is old and buggy. Also, got back into Dissidia Duodecim and downloaded some music and costume packs which has added a little more variety. Currently tackling Chapter 000 in the game while trying to get my new characters to Lv. 100.
Probably finishing off Devil Summoner today, tomorrow start the eternal grind that is Disgaea 4.
Ocarina of Time. It's a shameful blot on my gamer resume, but I never owned an N64, therefore never really played the game before now. Playing the gamecube release, courtesy of a friends wii and backward compatibility.
Nothing beats the joy of having your squad barely out the door and see an Alien Grenade/Sonic Pulser lobbed into the midst of them on the enemy's first turn.
I am almost done with 3D Dot Heroes but I have to do another playthrough; I ran into what appeared to be a dead-end in a cave I was exploring and I wondered what went wrong, so I checked online and apparently I missed the small window of opportunity to get a properly cool ending. So now I have to repeat everything I have done, but better. Agh.
Maybe I will switch back to Demon's Souls and grind enough to be a threat to something someday.
I played my boyfriend's 360 version when I got tired of waiting for the day when I could afford to go and buy the first one, so I didn't get to experience ME1's influence in the game until very recently myself. I'm so excited to see what I can do to influence Mass Effect 3!
You should have a really really smurfing bad feeling about this. You are going to be raped.
I finished Mass Effect 2 so I'm not sure what I should move onto next. I'm thinking Borderlands.
Borderlands DLC is legit. Main story is eh.
I have been on SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters DS a majority of the day.
Been playing Space War on my Android 2.2 phone. This game is so simple yet I can't stop playing it. :p
Nope but they do share the same title. It's this.
Slowly working on my first platinum trophy with Dynasty Warriors 7.
Disgaea 4.
I've never played a Disgaea game, but I've played a lot of crappy recent j.RPG's on PS3, so I know the characters.
I'm not used to this good story/gameplay from a PS3 game though.
Nothing... I have all these Steam / PS3 / Wii / DS games and no motivation to play anything. ,_, How I get motivation?
Ratchet and clank future series? (implying that you meant ps3 games in general)
Yeah disgaea comes off at first like it's just another weird jrpg but then it shows you that it's fantastic.
Decided to break out one of my old ps2 games and give it a twist to make it interesting. Playing ratchet&clank 3 for I think.. the 10th time? I'm dead serious about that, it could be more. Since I know the game inside and out I decided to make it harder by never buying damage reducing armor. Endgame armor reduces damage taken by about 70%, I have 0% damage reduction. Just beat the last level (where I get insta-killed from anything if I'm hit) actually and am working on killing the final boss.
Forgot how short the game is... blew through it in 1 day.
Gonna go back to nuzlocke when I beat it and finish off the elite four.
I've been playing Oblivion lately (OOO/Beautiful People/Natural Environments) due to Skyrim anticipation, and as Danielle has been playing Sims 3, that means that when she steps away from her PC to do dishes or something, she tells me to play Sims 3 for her. I've also had my copy of Resistance 3 delivered so I expect to play that sometime this month, co-op with Danielle.
I'm playing so much Civ IV that it isn't even funny
Also, Huxley has challenged me to play three full Civ V games. Civ V. :mymelbert:
So I'm going to be doing that inbetween packing/moving/being busy.
Finishing Resistance 3. As well as the occasional game of Flower. Which is the best thing on PS3 so far.
Been playing L.A. Noire :D
Updated my 360 the other day. Didn't realise that it updates my achievement lists as well. Long story short, I now have to get the DLCs for Mass Effect 1 and 2 to add them to my completed list again. Should be fresh and fun though. At least I don't have to do it on insanity mode :monster:
Still playing Oblivion but now also back to playing Final Fantasy VI on my way home from work again - just at the point where you first see Gau, so yay for that. Looking forward to finally having Espers... it must be soon by now! Finally, Danielle and I began playing Resistance 3 last night. It's good so far!
I'm jumping back and forth between Disgaea 4 post Game and White Knight Chronicles 1 in preparation for 2. I forgot how much I loved Belcentine.
Borderlandssss.
Lilith always OP, all the time.
Just finished DQIV last night (I'm now in the bonus Chapter) and I'm still playing Duodecim on and off again. After watching my friend play through Disgaea 4, I remembered I picked up Disgaea 3 some time ago and picked that up, hopefully grind fatigue won't set in as quickly as it did last time.
Might go back to my file of Shadow Hearts I started, I wasn't terribly impressed but I'm not far into it either and I was sick when I played it last, so maybe that might have something to do with my indifference.
Getting ready to go to the Floating Continent in my FFVI Advance file. This has actually been a really fun file only because I've been rushing through it quickly and staying rather low leveled (now I'm thinking its the actual right level the designers wanted it to be) and keeping the game rather challenging without seriously handicapping me.
I might start a Rhapsody game for my DS and I'll probably finish getting the True Ending in Persona 1 before P2 comes out next week. Playing FFI on the Wii, as well as Fragile Dreams and Skies of Arcadia.
That's it?
I recently obtained a PSP and a copy of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, but I decided to buy and replay the three PS2 titles before I start it, so I'm currently playing the original Kingdom Hearts, on expert mode, currently on (SPOILER)Dragon Malificent in Hollow Bastion.
The game is far more challenging than I remember it. o__O
working on getting the last 5 achievements for Deus Ex and then will finish beating dead Island with friends
Playing the Ace Combat Assault Horizon demo. Which is awesome. If you're new to flight games it might take a little getting used to, but I definitely recommend it.
smurf yes. The helicopter level took some getting used to, and it bothered me the jet controls defaulted to some sort of arcade setting where you just hop left or right to turn that way, but once I switched it it was the same awesome Ace Combat I remember. I'll have to add this one to the Christmas list.
still bussy with Touhoumon,
but i have to say im verry proud of my touhoumon team ^^
And im bussy with Assassic Creed 2 on ps3
Same here, the chopper mission took the most getting used too, but I really liked it when I did. Multiplayer looks promising too. This is probably one of the few games I'll actually get on day of release.
Until Ace Combat comes out, I'll probably be re-playing Valkyria Chronicles. Was in doubt whether to start a new game or new game+, but went for a regular new game to keep the challenge level up.
In a nut shell, I may still go back to the FFX-2 file and I still have a Vagrant Story file I was busy with. I also still need to start Peace Walker...
:D
Personally, I feel Necro's absurd challenges he plays through are more hardcore, or the fact NeoCracker can't seem to exist for 24 hours without a minimum of a dozen games pre-ordered.
Truthfully I'd never deserve it so long as MILF is around. If he only plays a mere 12 hours of vidya a day then it's a bad day for him.
Anyways, I JUST moved about 700 miles away from my previous location, so my own gaming is going to be sparse for a brief moment. I may have an inaugural game of Civ or SMAC later.
Dawwww, you're making me blush wolf.
You people are cute being modest over who spends the most time in their mom's basement. :p
Just beat Mass Effect 2. I wasn't wholly impressed with the ending or final battle. Maybe because I spent like 60 hours doing side missions only to have a ~30 min final mission. Plus all my squad was beefed up so no one died. Maybe it's more powerful if people die. I may play through the ending again and make the wrong decisions to see some carnage. :D
I want something lighter now, so I'll pop in Super Mario Sunshine, which I borrowed from my brother about two years ago and never got around to. The controls are hard to get used to since I'm used to Mario Galaxy's great controls, and the water tank is kind of weird. But I am getting the hang of it.
I've recently been playing not a whole lot what with a dislocated thumb and all. Control pads don't like that. However it's mostly healed now and so I'm back in the swing of things. So what have I spent my time playing:
Well during the past couple of weeks where my hand has been incapacitated I have played a LOT of dwarf fortress. I love DF but I can tell you now, when it's the ONLY game you play for over 2 weeks? It gets boring fast. Definitely need a bit of a break from it there.
Since Gears 2 decided to be troutty on horde mode this weekend in a stupid decision which I don't understand (why gimp horde mode out the weekend before Gears 3 is released? Would've been better to make it an awesome weekend to drive people in to a fever pitch for it) I have forgone the usual gears chew fest in anticipation of the new one, I'm more working on the whole I will pick this game up tomorrow and blitz trout with Dan and Paul amongst others. Regardless of if it kills my thumb.
I've played some Ace Combat 6 instead this weekend, Ace Combat 6 was pretty impressive, I doubt however I will ever get all the achievements in the game, mostly because they involve some ridiculous amounts of multi-player and unfortunately last time I entered that there was hardly any games available apart from when myself and JK-Trix went on and did the co-op missions together. Thankfully Dan has also picked up a copy so we can blitz stuff together on this. I have now completed the campaign using only attacker craft, dog fighting 64 - 2 in an A-10 thunderbolt mk2 is nigh on impossible but somehow I did it. The final mission was in a way, both easier and harder than I anticipated on that, using a Tornado jet bomber I was able to basically circle around the Chandelier and destroy piece by piece only breaking the loop briefly to dive down the maw of it's loading system to get the cruise missiles they were preparing to load in. I am currently flying through the game on Ace difficulty. I've mostly scored S ranks though to be fair I am using the most hax plane of them all the CFA-44 Nosferatu with the ADDM system (18 missiles each with 12 individual lock-on markers, targets can be air or ground or mixed between the two, each detonation is similar to the Nimbus cruise missiles used against you in that they basically will kill anything in one hit) I might try mixing it up and using the more balanced F-22 Raptor but for now I'm happily blasting everything to kingdom come or getting right up close and personal with the machine gun :)
I've also tried the Ace Combat Assault Horizon demo out on the 360. I liked the fact that the controls were pretty much the same as AC06 for the jets (don't know what gimped out controls you ps3 boys got but it was old school ace combat for me) I liked and disliked the fact that jets can take a lot more punishment now, sure when you're using guns giving them extra time under fire before they finally go down seems ok but missiles are too weak in the demo, when you can pump 3 or so missiles in to an enemy jet to get it to blow up it's a little too much. Though the new Dog-fighting mechanics work well and obviously the concession on missile damage is to support this, reminds me of the 5th Ace Combat game where you often HAD to rely on both missiles and guns to get the kills. Helicopter mission took some getting used to, didn't initially like the idea of literally being able to snipe individual infantry men out from above using the machine gun on my chopper and had a similar opinion on the damage sustained by the enemy Hinds what crop up in that. Still a solid game and I will definitely be buying the full release version.
Also tried the Space Marine demo out briefly, kinda unsure, needs another attempt I think. The hack and slash feel was simple enough but the health gaining mechanics might be a little too harsh. Will try again later before I make any decision on buying the game.
Good to see Ace Combat getting some EoFF love.
I'm all over Disgaea 4. It has one or two more Episodes than D3 and is a ton more fun. xD
5 was awesome but in all honesty my favourite thus far has to be 4. I still own a copy and play it on a semi-regular basis. The only one I haven't played is Ace Combat - The Belkan War. I really ought to check the PPG section at work and grab that one to complete the set.
Touhoumon Insane.
I can't do this. ._.
Wow, cool. The Belkan War is actually my favourite. I've never played 5, but I do own 4, Belkan War and 6. Might order 5 when I see a nice price tag on it.
Will any of you be online in Ace Combat Assault Horizon's multiplayer on PS3?
Back on topic: replaying Valkyria Chronicles. Surprised how much talk is going on, but I still love the battles.
I'll probably be online a bit at some point with Assault Horizon on the PS3, but like I said, odds are I'll be getting the game for Christmas since I'm dead broke.
Also, I liked Ace Combat 5 a lot more than Zero. It was alright, but 5 had a much better told story, fleshed out characters, and better mission variety. Zero tried some new things, but for the most part, it made the game too easy and it was a bit of a disappointment after playing 5.
When I first got a PlayStation for Christmas from my parents, it came with Ace Combat, and it was awesome. I don't think I've played any of the sequels, though. =| But none can ever be as amazing as Chuck Yeager's Air Combat.
Man, I still can't get over my Disgaea Burnout. I may have to hold off on Disgaea 3 some more cause I'm spending more time in Item/Class world than I should and I'm finding story missions to be way more tedious than they should be... Maybe I'll try to finish Valkyrie Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles instead.
I finished DQIV's Chapter 6 and can say I'm officially done with the game. I'm debating between Rhapsody and Heroes of Mana for the DS. The recent issue of Game Informer had a huge Zelda article with Skyward Sword coming up, so maybe I'll do another run through of Twilight Princess cause I had a blast with that game.
I have no debate at all over what to do. Just finished White Knight 1 again, adn I'm prepped for 2. I'll jump between that and Disgaea IV. I imagine by the end of the month I'll have finished with Disgaea 4, and then I'll turn all attention to White Knight 2. Afterwords is occasionally online with my buddies on White Knight 2 and playing Atelier Totori.
I'm playing Civ IV again. This time I'm going to turn off every single victory except for Conquest in order to prove to Huxley that I can, in fact, win a game this way.
Just got done playing Gears of War 3 on Hardcore difficulty, and will start on Insane tomorrow, when my friend gets home from school. This game is great.
Okay, currently playing Atom Zombie Smasher. It's ridiculously hard and supremely addictive.
Unlike some people, there us a thing called too much Disgaea for me, Item world is not my friend... :(
Have you tried offering your first born?
A certain individual bought me 79 video games today as part of a Steam package sale so I'm going to be occupied for a little while >:3
Playing some Alpha Protocol as well as some retro Sega Genesis games like Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
How are you liking AP? It got some really negative reviews on most mainstream gaming sites. For me, it's probably the best game from last year that doesn't have Street Fighter IV in the title. It really is pretty unrefined and buggy though, so I'd call it the worst game I ever loved and the best $10 I've ever spent on a game.
To update my answer to the thread, I just finished Parasite Eve II after downloading it from PSN. I remember hating it when it came out in 2000. Mostly because it wasn't like the first game, which I loved. II still isn't that good a game. I still don't understand why they needed to use the awful, awful tank-controls of the Resident Evil games. I mean, I know Resident Evil was popular, but did Parasite Eve literally have to transform into Resident Evil? It's odd going back a decade and seeing me-too mechanics popping up in games. I guess in 2020 people will look back and wonder why everything that comes out now has to be a shooter with regenerative health.
I'm probably going to hold off on gaming for a bit. I was planning on picking up Arkham City, but I moved my pre-order over to Dark Souls instead since it will without a doubt last me much longer and be the more interesting game (Arkham Asylum was great and all, but it definitely wasn't difficult). I'll probably make a thread about DS for those who want to hook up and do some co-op.
AP was hate-love for me.
Mang, Parasite Eve was boss. Then II came along, and it turned into Dino Crisis/RE. The 3rd Birthday is trash too.
I'm gonna get Skyrim before I get Dark Souls, because I'll want to kill myself playing a game Atlus brought from the depths of their offices.
I BE ON DAT. Labyrinth of Touhou: Special Disk Edition.
Alpha Protocol is a smurfing sweet game, I don't care what anyone says.
http://www.theandroidscloset.com/201...lpha-protocol/
I'm really, seriously considering beginning the process of talking myself into finishing Skies of Arcadia.
My mini-derail inspired me to start a new Alpha Protocol playthrough. Still awesome.
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
Ughhhhh 2012.
Finally got around to pre-ordering Battlefield 3, so I've been playing BFBC2 to get back into FPS mode. One month. :-)
I'm playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is actually code for "I'm playing Chemical Plant Zone over and over and over because it's amazing."
I was proud of getting 148 rings, okay?http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/106...ctpbVvb1qdg3a3
Finally going through Portal 2. It's awesome.
Xenogears
Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne..... waiting for the Diablo 2 ladder to reset on the 28th. Then I'll be in channel: op kov-, playing hardcore ladder with my clan.
I did a two hour speed run of New Vegas on Hardcore mode. It was so quick it's not funny. Just grinding out the achievements for FFXIII now to put that one to bed.
Super Mario Sunshine may possibly be one of the hardest games I've ever played. Well, not if you just want to beat it. That's easy. But getting all 120 shines (the only true way to beat a Mario game is to get all the stars/shines) is a real challenge, mostly because the controls can be horrible.
I also got the Pokemon itch, so I started playing Pokemon: Black Version. It's amazing how much money Nintendo makes by releasing the same game over and over but it works dammit.
Now playing:
ET the video game
(surely it cant be as bad as its rumored right?)
2 minutes later:
OMSG! WTH DTG HTD WTM!?!?!? WTH AI PURPOOAD? TROLLGAME!! HUNT IT HUNT IT!?!?!??!
Now playing:
Crash Bandicoot 2, cortex strikes back.
Nothing like back to the basics
I am currently playing Xenogears and Final Fantasy XIII
Currently finishing up my no armor speedrun of R&C going commando. Haven't been gaming too much lately though.
I agree. weak story, too easy, no adventure. If you save up enough, I have to tell you crack in time is probably my favorite game on the ps3, it is amazing. They made so many advances in story, graphics, worlds, space travel, and weapons. THe hoverboots are amazing. HOWEVER, if you do ever get a ps3, start with tools of destruction, the R+C future games are very much linear and require playing in order, but you can skip quest for booty, it will just make you sad how bad it is.
Oh trust me I'd start with the first then work my way through. If I ever do get a ps3 that'll be the first game I buy.
Radiant Historiaaaaa.
Hype.
I've finished quite a few games lately, right now I just started a file on FF Mystic Quest on the SNES cause I've never played it before, and I've started Dragon Quest V, to see what all the fuss is about. Part of me wants to start on Persona 2 as well but I fear DQV might take up all of my handheld needs for the moment.
Currently Playing:
Ecco the Dolphin
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Frozen Synapse
Civ IV
SMAC
(SPOILER)World of Warcraft
Final Fantasy VIII, Dissidia, Combat Arms, and SSX 3.
I'm restarting Final Fantasy VIII in hopes of achieving a perfect game.
I'm just leveling my characters in Dissidia.
Leveling up in Combat Arms.
And just messing around in SSX 3.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
just started Assassins creed Brotherhood again and i still cant like it 100%
>>> Resonance of Fate.. Is like play Valkyrie profile Silmeria but with guns..:luca:
COD: Black Ops, I think it's lame they just released this map pack with old content and a new zombie map for 14.99....
Battlefield 3 beta, it's alright....
Just picked up Crisis Core, so adding that to the list.
Replaying Final Fantasy V on PS1.
Persona 3 Portable and loving it. I'm playing the male part first. I like how they've added a few stuff from FES.
Lately, I've been playing:
- Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete (PS)
- Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
- Okami (PS2)
- Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)
- Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES)
- Super Mario RPG (SNES)
- Ogre Battle 64 (N64)
I'm currently playing Atelier Totori necasue I loved the Atelier Iris series and I missed out on Rorona... but I'm not enjoying it as mcuh so far. So for those of you who have played it already can you tell me if Totori herself get's any less annoying as she grows up? She's a wimp and a baby and I'm struggling wanting to play as this moron. Other bits are lovely though so I'm torn... If she doesn't grow then I don't want to play it, but I don't want to waste 5 hours trying to find that out!
I'm just waiting for Disgaea 4 to come out over here... does anyone know if I import the American version of the game and play it on my European PS3, will DLC from the European PSN store work with it?
No, the European DLC won't work on the US version. A friend who lives in Germany found a way to download the DLC for Dark Hero Days, but because it was the US version, she couldn't use it on her game. :C
I'm (still) playing a bucketload of Civ IV. I'm also playing Final Fantasy I and derping around in World of Warcraft.
Finishing up Frozen Synapse at some point in the near future is on my to-do list as well...
I'm partway through Portal 2's single player campaign. :jess:
Replaying FF12 for the umpteenth time, turned the battle speed up to max and playing on active mode for everything. It's already made things a hell of a lot more interesting. I've also given my characters semi-strict classes. I can only use 3 and they are limited to 2 weapons.
~Ashe: Sword/Shield and Rods. Uses heavy/mystic armor. My Red mage
~Vaan: Dagger/Shield and Bow/arrow. Uses light armor. My Bandit/Rouge
~Balthier: Gun and Spear. Uses light armor. My Dragoon/Gunner.
(May end up replacing one of the two, depends on how good guns fare later on in the story compared to spears)
Ooooo bumflaps :( I am going to have to wait then! Still no news on a premium edition either *sigh*
I'm currently enjoying the Witcher 2. Now that version 2.0 was released with all kinds of nifty additions (e.g. dark mode and arena), I'll be playing this game for quite some time. I still haven't finished Iorveth's path, so I'll look forward to seeing how much it differs from Roche's path. The arena is a fun albeit challenging addition, and it's very addictive to play. :)
Well, I'm playing PoPoLoCrois for the PSP right now. I love it, especially the romance between Pietro and Narcia (d'aww!)
I just beat The World Ends With You a few weeks back, so I'm the replay, trying to get the extra stuff. But Shiki's skirt... The miniest miniskirt I've ever seen!
Deus Ex Human Revolution thanks to my darling MILF :aimkiss: I finished my first play through last night. Realised part way through that prologue kills lock out the pacifist achievement, so then I pulled out my lovely and heavily modded 10mm and destroyed everything. :jess:
Deus Ex is so much easier when you use guns. I still need to play back through it sometime without really holding back. I mean, I did kill some with guns in my play through but was an exp whore, so avoided them wherever possible. Which was almost all the time - at least, until I got all the upgrades I wanted. But be sure to not kill any enemies when you see robots around. Also, do not kill the robot. Instead, take over the robot. It is so much more fun that way.
Anyway. What am I playing... Final Fantasy XIV now that patch 1.19 is out. I'll probably play it for a bit longer than I did last time, I'm really enjoying myself and look forward to the future patches. :) Also, still chipping away at Final Fantasy VI on the bus home from work, although it's a very slow and steady process as I only play for about 30-40 minutes each time.
I finally got all 120 shines in that unforgiving bastard Super Mario Sunshine (had to use a guide for blue coins but I don't give a smurf). Now I've popped in Red Dead Redemption for some wild west fun.
been playing the HD remake of Resident Evil 4 and a lot of oblivion, getting ready for Skyrim.
I think I'm a little over halfway into FF1 now. I'm also playing and enjoying the heck out of Master of Orion 2.
A friend loaned me Call of Duty: Black Ops for the week. I am enjoying it immensely.
Aliens: Infestation!
pretty creepy :O
I'm currently playing
Final Fantasy (NES via Wii Virtual Console)
Final Fantasy (iPod Touch)
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis)
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Game Gear)
The Lion King (Genesis)
The Lion King (Game Gear)
Vampire:Master of Darkness (Game Gear)
Psychic World (Game Gear)
Phantasy Star II (Genesis)
I've been on a SEGA binge the last few months.
Let's see...
SNES:
FF Mystic Quest - Very weird game and my first time through, its so bad its good in a comical way. I'm going after the Water Crystal now and happy I got an upgrade for the bombs. I just wish the game didn't start throwing Random Encounters at me cause I actually liked the idea every dungeon has a set amount of monsters. I also like the "battle damage" visual display with enemies and kind of wonder why this never stuck with the main series. I was going to start Illusion of Gaia but the game looks like its going to be more involving than I first thought so its on the back burner until I lighten my gaming load.
DS:
Dragon Quest V - I'm in adulthood and searching for the fire and ice rings so I can get the Zenthia Shield. My real goal is to get a Robo Hunter in my party. My main party consists of a Slime (who is more useful than I initially gave him credit for) a Slime Knight, and my Saber Cat. Its been a good game so far, maybe even one of the best DQ games I've ever played. I haven't decided who my bride is but I may be boring and just choose Bianca cause she seems like she's the "canon" one.
Final Fantasy VI Advanced - In the WoR, its been awhile since I watched the Floating Continent scene with the new script, and I really feel the script clears up some arguments about Kefka and his role in the plot. I just visited Terra in Mobliz and now I'm in South Figaro, getting ready to follow Gerad into the tunnels to find Figaro Castle. My party just hit level 30, and Sabin doesn't know any really useful magic, just whatever he gets when I actually equip an Esper when he's about to level up. For Celes, I was originally going to teach her every spell, but decided to make her a Paladin character so she only has healing and support magic, her offensive magic is restricted to what she learns naturally. Blizzaga can't come soon enough... :(
PSP:
I was going to start AC: Bloodlines but the tutorial didn't impress me (as I suspected, the PSP and DS can't handle Assassin Creed's format) so instead I decided to finally take the plunge and dive into the Final Fantasy Type-0 demo, which has been a fun experience barring some hiccups with the camera and my inability to read Kanji. Persona 2: Innocent Sin will have to wait, I burned myself out on MegaTen games in the Summer so I'm going to wait until I can appreciate it more and besides, my current-gen consoles need love.
Wii:
Final Fantasy on Virtual Console which has been a blast since I never got the satisfaction of playing through the actual NES version. My party is a Warrior, Black Belt, Red Mage, and Black Mage. It is obviously a party that specializes in total offense but its been fun going through without a White Mage and their ever so useful HEAL spell. I just finished Astos and now I'm using the KEY to unlock all the hidden rooms up until this point before tracking down the Sage and dealing with Lich.
I also plan on returning to Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen and Phantasy Star once I'm through with this.
For the Wii itself, Mad World for some mindless fun and I'm thinking of diving into The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess again because Skyward Sword is coming out soon and I actually really loved TP despite all the strange hate the game gets. :roll2
PS3:
Due to a recent thread, I went back to Valkyria Chronicles and I'm trudging along. I just wish I can get through a cutscene without rolling my eyes, but the gameplay is solid even when the game throws BS at you. I also discovered I haven't been using my money and XP for awhile so I spent most of last night just re-outfitting my unit and tank.
I'm also playing through Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood so I can get up to speed with the plot before AC: Revelations comes out next month. Ezio has officially won the award for the most entertaining equipment downgrade trope in video games.
Of course, I can kiss both games goodbye when Arkham City drops Tuesday. I still feel bad that I haven't finished Catherine yet, I think I'm only two puzzles and what I'm guessing is a final boss fight away from finishing the game.
Assassins creed Brotherhood.
ive noticed that in the first time i played i missed alot, becaus i almost only went for the main story!! :(
thats wy i didnt like it 100%
but now i do really like it since i aim to do everything, all side missions etc etc.
it takes alot more time (wich is always good) and now i see the use of the Brotherhood, wich in the first x only anoyed me.
I started playing FF Mystic Quest too! I didn't want Vivi22 to murder me in my sleep :p
Playing a lot of FreeCell. Up to 50 straight wins, perfect record thus far :excited:
I've recently been playing Dawn of War 2 and Gears of War 3 but I've been busy as hell lately so not much time for the games.
My Mum was pretty wicked at FreeCell, but a 50-0 record? Wow, that's incredible.
I use undo a lot, if that helps. I never quit a game no matter how hard it is though. I'd be well into the 200s if the game wasn't a sadistic bastard. It pops up with a box whenever you have no more moves left like "oh no, poor you" but if you accidentally bump any key then it's like "oh so you quit? okay, chalk up a loss!"
smurfing FreeCell sonovabitch.
Playing my old game burnout takedown, the one from like 2005 you ask? I say smurf yes, and this game is still awesome.
Finally got that platinum a few weeks ago, it took a lot longer than I expected. Now my ps3 is going to collect dust until Assassin's creed comes out..
I downloaded Terraria last week and I've been playing that a couple hours every day. I also downloaded Mother 3 this morning, it's pretty good so far. I'm hoping it's as good as Earthbound/Mother 2.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon and it's epic multiplayer modes.
ppff... fully played both Assassins creed´s and now ive got nothing thats interesting to play now on ps3 :(..
maybe ill go on another x Uncharted 2
Heroes of Might and Magic III: Shadow of Death's campaigns
