go back and play it if you don't remember b/c it's hilarious!!! One time when Rikku freaks out over the storm she does some weird crawl as she screams.
YouTube - Rikku Fandub- Thunder Plains
This one lol. It jas always cracked me up. Also the crazy laugh she does along with tidus's reaction. Bad fandub though.
oh, whoops, I just realized that the Thunder Plains travel agency is not the correct answer. My apologies. I confused myself!
Since no one has written a new riddle for the open round, we could keep going with this one. Again, it's:
FFX:
When the rain comes, it comes in sheets.
With no umbrella, let's stop for a while
and we can rest our tired feet.
Thunder and lightning can be your lullaby,
it's been a long day of traveling and praying.
When we awake, she's nowhere to be found --
she's still between the sheets and dreaming.
What scene/where is this?
The scene at the Temple of Djose when you've just finished the Cloyster of Trials?
Cool. Here's one;
Strike and heave,
I'm a mighty fiend.
Only the strongest will survive
my retaliation using gravity.
Who am I?
Anima?
Is it Ironclad?
Is it Behemoth?
Behemoth is a bad loser:).
A taste for poultry
and a real heavyweight.
he says your next
then sends a flurry your way,
But if you lose
it's not so bad
you'll just have to find another way.
No not the Ogre.
Yes it is Chocobo eater.
that is the most common answer to ffx riddles, with 3 having been so.
Is it Clasko the Chocobo Knight?
Cool.
It's too hot for thinking of riddles today, I'll leave it open for now.
I'm really enjoying these :)
I'll give it a shot
FINAL FANTASY X
'My siblings live in the woods and snow.
although I much prefer the heat
You can't Peirce me
or take my treasure
but if you try! expect to see stars above your head
'
First riddle ever written :)
Is it Mimic?
Both wrong...
but PeteForPresident You are on the right track :)
Nebulance....BINGO!
It is Sandragora
:)
Sweet!
FFX:
I am your Last Judgement plastered into the mountains.
I am the passage to your sweetest of dreams.
The Keeper will decide whether or not to absolve you of your sins
and deliver you into the Heavens of moonbeams.
Where/what am I referring to?
The Farplane?
Is the answer a picture of GXIII crying because The Rock terrifies him?
no, not the Farplane
I assume you mean Mt. Gagazet?
Can you clarify what GXIII is, and what is 'the Rock' -- because your signature is hinting that it's Duane Johnson... ;)
The last Cactuar for the Cactuar hunting game you need to do to get Rikku's Sigil?
The sword you find in Calm Lands you have to use at Mushroom Rock Road to get Auron's Masamune? Forgot the name.
Open round.
I am round
And big
So is my friend
I even have
A pink bit
At my end
Good luck, smurfers.
Yuna's ass.
I'm afraid not.
Lulu's (SPOILER)tit?
Be a bit more specific.
The left one?
Close
The right one, then?
PS: It's really great how classy EoFF has become.
You got it!
It's your filthy mind. :colbert:
X-2 riddle this time:
Tainted.
That is the reality.
Our sleep has been fitful,
and now we awake.
We shall confront our old master.
In order to combat this new threat,
she must first combat old allies.
Who are we?
A very easy riddle, but I wasn't in the mood to make anything obscure, especially from X-2 because I suspect many of us who frequent this forum couldn't stand to beat the entire game.
I want to say the Aeons, if I remember correctly, you have to beat each of them. Of course, the last time I played X-2 was about 5--6 years ago. X gets a spin almost yearly. I also don't feel like pulling out my strategy guide for it... it's buried somewhere in the house.
Yup, the Aeons. Specifically the Dark Aeons, but I'm not gonna be picky. You're up, Neb.
FFX:
A summoner in training, I follow Yuna's lead.
Even when Bevelle condemns her for her deeds,
across highroads and highbridges I will follow and in her I do believe.
Who am I?
Belgimine?
Is it Shelinda.
thick with sorrow on the battlefield,
bursting with vengance before hand,
headin the words of an old wise man,
i stand still waiting for my chance
eager to prove, eager too get even,
and yet i receive only more reason too hate.
who am i?
tidus
nope!
correct :D
Does this place still exist? Because if so, I'd like a try.
I hold all the answers.
If there is a treasure that you seek, I will give you a map to find it.
If there is a foe that stands in your way, I will give you a sword to cut it down.
If you have lost your way, I will point you in the right direction.
I will stand by you always, through the easiest times and the most difficult times.
I am a valued friend and a worthwhile companion.
However, become too close to me,
and you may be shunned by those who spurn my help.
So, can you answer my riddle? And it's found in both games.
By the way, if you answer, I want a reason why you gave that answer. I don't want to give it to someone just for randomly guessing. If you give an answer and no reason, I will just ask you why you think your answer is correct.
I think asking people to reason is fine.
Most people do, but I dont think it's right to require that
It's not unreasonable. If you have a reason for your guess all you have to do is put your thought process in a sentence. If you don't have a reason for your guess, well... :p
I ask for a reason because I don't want to give it to someone who just randomly guessed and got lucky.
Well, here's a guess. I only played FFX once and don't have it in fresh memory, so have mercy if my reasoning is so-so. :)
My guess is the menu.
If there is a treasure that you seek, I will give you a map to find it. - Is there a map in the menu? I don't recall.
If there is a foe that stands in your way, I will give you a sword to cut it down. - You choose your weapons in the menu.
If you have lost your way, I will point you in the right direction. - You may be able to read your current objectives or something...
I will stand by you always, through the easiest times and the most difficult times. - It's always there!
I am a valued friend and a worthwhile companion. - It's definitely good to have around.
However, become too close to me,
and you may be shunned by those who spurn my help. - Hmm... not sure about these two lines. Is there a disadvantage to using the menu a lot?
It made me think of GameFAQs or an Ultimania guide first up :p
But is there a tutorial tab in the menu? My reasoning follows Rantz's until the last. If you use tutorials or guides a lot then people who do it without the help might think you're a bit of a trout player etc!
Also the riddle threads originally required you to give a justification for your answer. I think this is perfectly acceptable.
Jiro, you are correct! The answer is in fact the strategy guide. I thought that would be a lot harder than it was.
I hold all the answers. - Everything you need to know about the game is found in the guide.
If there is a treasure that you seek, I will give you a map to find it. - The guides tell you where the treasures are.
If there is a foe that stands in your way, I will give you a sword to cut it down. - The guides give you strategies on how to defeat enemies and bosses.
If you have lost your way, I will point you in the right direction. - Guides tell you where to go next.
I will stand by you always, through the easiest times and the most difficult times. - Guides walk you through the whole game, from start to finish.
I am a valued friend and a worthwhile companion. - It's very helpful to use a guide.
However, become too close to me,
and you may be shunned by those who spurn my help. - "Hardcore" players tend to look down on those who use guides too much.
Well trout, I didn't expect that xD I also got my "nah it's not that one" guess right, oh man xD
How about this...
Not the first hands to hold me
Not bound by blood or creed
But through me he will join
Our blessed Fraternity
Okay so I'm not looking for the hands, I'm looking for the me. Might seem hard (probably doesn't :p) but there are plenty of clues in there!
Oh and let's keep it going; no reason no response!
brotherhood
I'm thinkin' Brotherhood too.
Not the first hands to hold me - Wakka first gave Brotherhood to Chappu, though Chappu didn't actually use the sword.
Not bound by blood or creed - Not sure about this line.
But through me he will join
Our blessed Fraternity - Fraternity is another word for brotherhood.
The answer is indeed the Brotherhood sword.
TwilightLord has the reasoning right for the first line.
The second line was emphasising the difference between Tidus and Chappu - they are not brothers, nor are they Yevonites and/or Crusaders (that's what they were called right? I keep thinking Youth League).
And not only is Fraternity another word for Brotherhood, it is the literal translation of the Japanese name for the sword.
Duke it out for whoever wants to take it. I did say you needed reasoning :greenie:
*Dynamic Entry-kicks Hypoallergenic Cactuar out of the way* MY TURN! And yes, they were called Crusaders. Some of the Crusaders join the Youth League in Final Fantasy X-2, which is probably why you were thinking of them.
Know fear, mortals, for now you face me.
You will pay the price for the treason you committed.
I am no leader, I am something far worse.
I am your judge, your jury, and your executioner.
Though you vanquished the shadows that came before me,
Against me, you stand no chance.
If you seek death, take the helm and approach me.
I will make you see the folly of your existence.
But before I pass my final judgement, speak my name.
The whole thing makes me think of Seymour. Especially the treason line; the party is often accused of treason after killing Seymour.
Aw hell let's break it down.
Know fear, mortals, for now you face me. - If you're not a mortal, you must be something like a god, or Unsent.
You will pay the price for the treason you committed. - Killing Seymour is the only treasonous activity I can think of, except maybe the Crusader's stand at Djose ('cause they used Machina)
I am no leader, I am something far worse. - They are a leader and something far worse, is what I'm getting from this.
I am your judge, your jury, and your executioner. - Seems like they think they're most important and dedicated to killing, right?
Though you vanquished the shadows that came before me,
Against me, you stand no chance. - Perhaps it is a specific version of Seymour. Can't remember any of their names though, dammit.
If you seek death, take the helm and approach me.
I will make you see the folly of your existence. - The previous two lines are very Seymour-esque, he says similar in dialogue. A lot.
But before I pass my final judgement, speak my name. - Yeah.
So I'm just gonna straight up guess Seymour. If it's a specific battle with Seymour then I have no smurfing idea which one. Maybe somebody else can find the right track.
It's not Seymour, I'm afraid. I did sort of deliberately try to mislead people into thinking it's Seymour. XD Your reasoning was good though.
Then my next guess is Yue Yevon. He's certainly been kicking around for a long time, making him close to "immortal", or at least not your everyday mortal. He is also more than a leader; he's a religious icon, a god. I can't say much else because I haven't actually seen Yue Yevon before, but I'm sure he's just as psycho as Seymour.
It's not Yu Yevon either. Hint: The "Know fear, mortals" line is just bragging - it doesn't necessarily mean the answer is immortal.
Following all the stuff and what you said in the last post, I say ject
Just putting my thoughts out there, since I don't really have an idea what it could be. Maybe Trema, Omega (Weapon) or Penance but I don't really have good reasons why.
It would help a lot to know which game this appears in...
The fifth line makes me think that what is referred lies at the end of a difficult dungeon... Omega Ruins and Via Infinito come to mind. However the seventh line is what perplexes me. Take the helm and approach me? When in FFX or X-2 does there ever appear a helm at all? Maybe in the Dark Knight costumes? Or is he referring to the type of enemy? The third line on the other hand makes me think that the person/thing referred is a traitor, like Omega, or the strongest of his kind but not really a 'leader', like Penance. Final Judgement in the last line makes me think of Penance and his instant kill Judgement Day attack too. Wait... maybe the shadows refer to the Dark Aeons. But the helm line still doesn't make any sense. I'm confused...
Anima?
Cmon guys, how can you not have guessed Penance.
Know fear, mortals, for now you face me. - Basically he is the toughest mob in the game, you would do well to fear him
You will pay the price for the treason you committed. - the first Dark Aeon you faced was a fallen Summoner, who happened to call you traitors
I am no leader, I am something far worse. - Pretty simple here, he is not the leader he is the final challenge.
I am your judge, your jury, and your executioner. - Pretty simple also, He has Judged you passed down his sentence and precedes to be your executioner.
Though you vanquished the shadows that came before me, - simple, you have to vanquish all the dark aeons to be able to face him.
Against me, you stand no chance. - The weak and unprepared WILL be trashed by him, only those who cheated (with Yojimbo) and those of us dedicated enough even have a slight hope of defeating him.
If you seek death, take the helm and approach me. - You can only approach him via the Air Ship, he has his own location on the map.
I will make you see the folly of your existence. - more of the same thing from the "Against me, you stand no chance" line.
But before I pass my final judgement, speak my name. - Penance.
If I am right (which I am) I declare open round.
EDIT: Btw Dak you really need to replay the game again if you think that attacking Seymour was the only treasonous act, you don't remember killing Yunalesca? I would say (from Yevons PoV) THAT was the worst act of treason for the whole world.
KaiserDragon, you are indeed correct. The answer was Penance.
"Know fear, mortals, for now you face me."
Penance is NOT a pushover by any means.
"You will pay the price for the treason you committed."
It's implied/explained that the Dark Aeons and Penance appeared because of the group defying Yevon. Most of the Dark Aeons are summoned by summoners who believe that Yuna is a traitor.
"I am no leader, I am something far worse."
"Leader" translated into German is "Führer". In the Japanese version (and some European versions too), Penance is called "Der Richter", German for "The Judge". So he's not a Führer (leader), he's something else.
"I am your judge, your jury, and your executioner."
Again refers to his Japanese name being "The Judge".
"Though you vanquished the shadows that came before me,"
You have to defeat all the Dark Aeons to face Penance.
"Against me, you stand no chance."
More bragging about how awesomely powerful he is.
"If you seek death, take the helm and approach me."
Penance is fought on the deck of the Fahrenheit. "Helm" in this case refers to the helm of a ship, Karifean.
"I will make you see the folly of your existence."
Again, more bragging.
"But before I pass my final judgement, speak my name."
Again with "judgement" referring to his Japanese name.
FFX
Bring me friends, and I'll help you.
And by help, I mean hurt.
Sorry, I can't resist the urge
to always seem curt.
You'll get to know me very well,
and pay me like a king,
but you'll be the one
who will want to sing.
Find my friends, I'm begging you,
so I won't be alone.
Cull the herd well enough,
I'll give you a useless stone.
Who am I?
the Monster Arena keeper?
Yeah, you got it.
Bring me friends, and I'll help you. - Capture many monsters, and he gives you stuff.
And by help, I mean hurt. - He also pits you against crazy strong monsters.
Sorry, I can't resist the urge
to always seem curt. - He's a jerk sometimes.
You'll get to know me very well, - You spend a lot of time at the monster arena.
and pay me like a king, - You pay for every battle.
but you'll be the one
who will want to sing. - You get really awesome stuff in return.
Find my friends, I'm begging you,
so I won't be alone.
Cull the herd well enough, - Kill all the monsters at least once.
I'll give you a useless stone. - Mark of conquest.
Naked but just cozy
Amid the mountain air
Catch the others dozing
Play them equal fair
Thus blood as feral boils
The past, he came, from whence
To the victor spoils
Pride and recompense
Eh... Assuming this is FFX, I... don't remember my Mt. Gagazett events well enough. The Fayth?
Nope:)
Kimari beating them? lol
Yeah, the fight to reclaim his honor was the point of the riddle.
Your turn.
I think this means it's open floor.
Oops, forgot about this but, as Dak said, open floor.
If its ok- I thought I would jump in?
Its (IMO) the hardest FMV to see.
Need to play it perfectly to obtain thee.
A characters tertiary dream come true,
in the place aside the blue.
(Edit: adding a hint)
The game's opening is related,
its either loved or hated.
Is it related to the Besaid Aurochs winning the Blitzball championship in Luca? Blitzball is a pretty big part of the opening cinematic iirc.
I couldn't quite remember how the scenes all went, but I know it was damned hard to see it the first time I played. Then I figured out a technique that usually helps :p
World spanning
Self fulfilling
Crash! Bang!
Hide inside
Yeah I hate writing riddles...
All I can think of is Sin, for some reason.
Nope! The answer is a location. The last two lines reference an event at said location.
Bikanel Island or Sanubia Desert?
the airship
Incorrect!
Home
Incorrect!
thunder plains?
The answer is not the Thunder Plains but the event referenced in the last two lines happens there.
The answer is a location, not an event!
Based on this, I'm going to guess that 'there' mentioned above is referring to the Thunder Plains, and we're talking about the lightning and thunder. If it's not the thunder plains, then I would guess Guadosalam, in that that would be the next destination in the journey, and I remember how Rikku was relieved to be inside -- or at least, that's what I got from that scene.
The location is not the Thunder Plains. Think smaller, but wider spread. Hence the first line. World spanning.
Rin's Travel Agency, yes.
World spanning
There are Rin's Travel Agencies all over the world
Self fulfilling
The shop is called a "travel" agency and they are everywhere; hence the store fulfils its own name
Crash! Bang!
Lightning in the Thunder Plains
Hide inside
Rikku then hides inside Rin's Travel Agency.
Now I feel like a riddle hog, as I also have the VII & VIII ones at same time!
To punish the foe,
send them on their way
and clean house.
I held all 3 of the PS1 era riddles plus this one just a few weeks ago.
Bribe?
it isnt the boat is it?
not bribe, nor any boat.
"Clean house" just makes me think of Seymour's slaughter of the Ronso at Gagazet.
The Farplane?
"send them on their way" made me think of eject -> Jecht so I'm thinking of a location where Jecht spheres are hiding.
Via Purifico. BAM.
Oh, jeez. I'm good at solving them, not making them.
Feel free to have a go anyway!
A mnth later, but whatever:
Sunsets
Glimmers
How time flies
Just enough
For some last goodbyes
Farplane.
No, but that's a pretty good guess.
Another good guess, but no.
There is, but that's not hte anser.
The visit to the Farplane in Guadosalam, where you meet Tidus's Mother and Chappu? "Last goodbyes" could fit that scene, and "glimmers" might refer to the pyreflies...
Hint: The last goodbyes part is the least important. Technically, everywhere they stop has some sort of last goodbye.
The sending scene at Kilika (i think thats where it was?) or Pyreflies in general?
On the extremely off chance that I get this right someone else go because I doubt I'll remember to check this thread.
You're on track with pyreflies.
So the "glimmers" does refer to pyreflies then? Hmm... Is the riddle referring to a specific event in the game, or just a place in general?
A place.
Is it the first time seeing the Moonflow?
You got it! :)
What is the point of this parasite?
He isn't helping me, he just popped up!
He sustains himself by draining me away.
Why is he here? Why did I allow this?
At least, maybe, he will give me strength to fight.
YuYevon?
"parasite"
"RELIGION!"
made me laugh, but no :p
Is this riddle from the point of view of Seymour? The second form of him you fight in Bevelle, and that little thing on him that uses break and drains his life? (Can't remember the technical name.)
Yeah, you got it, it's the Mortibody
Your turn! :D
