Midgar?
Nope:)
I lie naked, piercing sky
Like an erect dragoon spear
Ready iron lungs to fry
Ain't no mini stallion here
hmm... tough one, could it be the key of the ancients? seems very obscure lol.
Hm... I have half a mind to guess Ultima Weapon, but I don't know why. ...
... Uh... No, hey, flip! The phoenix, at Condor!
Nope and nope:)
The second and fourth lines contain hints more directly aimed than the first and third
Yes, good job . I thought it was pretty obvious when I came up with it.
All yours, sir.
wooo, after 12 years finally 1000 posts
First time seen in Final Fantasy
Shock, horror or hilarity
From above they desend to me
You have to face it, it's reality
Yes its easy, good luck ^^
7's direct sequels?
District 7 fall?
My first guess would be Aerith's death, but I don't know what to make of the third line.
*Sector 7 not district xD
This, I knew it wouldn't take long, allow me to explain:
First time seen in Final Fantasy - First time seen is a scene which has blood in it, Aerith's blood.
Shock, horror or hilarity - First time you see this you experience shock at her death horror if you realised all those hours levelling her were for naught, or hilarity if you hated her and you no longer have to put up with her.
From above they descend to me - quite simple really, Sephiroth and the Masamune.
You have to face it, it's reality - perhaps the most obvious of all, how many revive Aerith theories have we seen over the years, way way way to many, despite this the fact that she cannot be revived is reality.
I don't have a riddle in me, someone else please
No worries chionos, I'll oblige if you don't mind?
Again, these always sound dead easy in my head but I'll see what you make of it...
My Engine keeps turning, round and round
It's a cycle that ends, then again to be found
Stop, turn and face, then our race is run
Now the world is your Oyster, go have some fun.
I want to say the roller coaster in Speed Square at the Golden Saucer but the Oyster reference doesn't fit.
nothing makes sense to me :P
Chocobo race?
Nothing to do with chocobos at all.
There are other races in the game... one's that are a bit more story-orientated.
The first clue is the one that gives away the name... the rest just adds to it
The motorbike race?
Very close!
My Engine keeps turning, round and round
It's a cycle that ends, then again to be found
Stop, turn and face, then our race is run
Now the world is your Oyster, go have some fun.[/QUOTE]
The train!?
Nope!
Rantz was on the right lines...
The escape from Midgar?
So close!
that 3 wheeled car?
Not quite!
The first and third line are the most related to the answer. There's one more thing you are all missing from that sequence.
Motorball.(Or whatever the boss is called you face at the end.)
Yeah it sounds like the boss fight with Motorball. His little engine thing spins constantly, and you have to stop and then hit escape to flip around and face him to fight (or wait for him to beat the trout outta you...).
Once it's over, the world being your oyster references the fact that you can now travel the world map. Or something.
Sorry guys, been out celebrating the Manchester Derby result today...
FFIX Choco Boy has it spot on! The next riddle is yours!
My Engine keeps turning, round and round
Direct reference to the name of the boss. "Engine" refers to "Motor" and "round and round" refers to "ball" (sort of)
It's a cycle that ends, then again to be found
A reference to the motorcycle race that can later be accessed via the Gold Saucer.
Stop, turn and face, then our race is run
Motorball initiates a pre-emptive attack. You turn, face and defeat him.
Now the world is your Oyster, go have some fun.
Jiro is spot on. Immediately after the battle the entire FFVII world is before you and you're on your way to Chocobo Farm... and the hard core among you will attempt to learn the "Beta' enemy skill very soon.
Hmmm... this has put me in the mood for another playthrough...
That shouldn't be like that,
but it sure is creative.
Is it wrong to be jealous
of the main villain?
If I wasn't before,
Now I'm most definitely
intimidated.
Is it the "flashback" sequence in Kalm?
That shouldn't be like that,
but it sure is creative.
Obviously something is wrong. The flashback is actually not 100% accurate, but it makes for a good story and is therefore creative.
Is it wrong to be jealous
of the main villain?
Not sure what this one really refers to, but the main villain is generally assumed to be Sephiroth and Cloud was definitely in awe if not completely jealous/envious when talking.
If I wasn't before,
Now I'm most definitely
intimidated.
Cloud talks about how psycho Sephiroth's skills were. Most of the party, as of yet, were unaware of his actual powers and so for Cloud to describe it like he was invincible etc would have definitely made them intimidated.
Not the Kalm flashback, but that does fit really well.
Sephiroth's one-wing form?
Not the One-Winged Angel
the Ghost-like ppl in cloud's hometown?
Riddle repost please. Along with the hints and (maybe) the incorrect guesses.
Here's the riddle again.
That shouldn't be like that,
but it sure is creative.
Is it wrong to be jealous
of the main villain?
If I wasn't before,
Now I'm most definitely
intimidated.
Few thoughts.
"main villain" almost certainly refers to Sephiroth. The last three lines infer an event, in that something happens to make the viewer intimidated if they weren't before. And whatever it is that happens, it's unusual or odd but creative, which could refer to whatever b/c it's subjective to the riddler. Seph's white hair might be considered to be creative by someone who hasn't watched 90% of fantasy anime.
That shouldn't be like that,
but it sure is creative.
I think this comes from the fact that the weapon should be frozen in the mountain and unable to move (its eye).
Is it wrong to be jealous
of the main villain?
Possible coming from the fact that the game is all about Sephiroth, yet the weapons are supposed to be more powerful.
If I wasn't before,
Now I'm most definitely
intimidated.
This I think comes from the fact that Sephiroth summoned Meteor which can destroy the planet and the weapons are supposed to be defenders of the planet, so they are intimidated by him.
So I'm thinking its the weapon who's eye you see when you hand the black materia to Sephiroth.
Neither guess is right, but Chionos is on the right track with his thinking.
Um, Sephiroth in the flames?
Sephiroth's form, I think it is called the Safer Sephiroth.
The wings shouldn't be there but it's creative. One would be intimidated by this form because of the combat splitting of two (or three) "teams". Not sure what one would be jealous of.
Not Sephiroth walking through the flames, either.
The scene where the Midgar Zolom is impaled on the stick?
If I'm right someone else take my go.
Crop's got it!
I was going to give explanation, but, after you know the answer, it's all pretty obvious, lol.
As Crop isn't posting one then I'll oblige...
This you will hear, the closer it gets
Join it for a stroll, no need to rest
It gives you an edge when you next have a brawl
To keep it close by would be your best call
The best bet would be a weapon, materia, or accessory. Not sure which one.
Sounds like a vehicle, like a chocobo or buggy kind of fits the first bit, but I can't think of how any of them match the last.
Only thing I can think of would be Tiny Bronco.
The impaled Zolom actually flitted through my head momentarily, I don't know why I didn't pay it attention :exdee:
As for the new riddle: Is there an item that increases in power as you walk the world map? Joining it for a stroll makes me think of that.
I don't think the item increases power but improves your health.
Thanks Jiro
Cat's Bell
After a nice pointer from Jiro... Chionos has it!
This you will hear, the closer it gets
A reference to the bell. You would hear it jingling when it was close.
Join it for a stroll, no need to rest
It gives you an edge when you next have a brawl
Both of these lines refer to the fact that it increases your HP as you walk
To keep it close by would be your best call
Obvious. having it equipped would help! Also, 'Best Call' is an anagram of Cat's Bell.
Very clever! I'm glad my thoughts helped out too!
I wouldn't have gotten this without Jiro I don't think, and Jiro likes to get out of having to do a riddle himself, but I'm going to insist that Jiro gives us the next riddle.
Yes, let's see if Jiro can create a good riddle.
Has anyone see BG lately?
I agree completely.
I refuse to further respond to this thread unless Jiro provides the next riddle...
You can stay if you like, it's a wonderful place
Just stay with us here in this wide open space
You can leave if you must, just do one thing
Go and talk to the boss and bring me his bling
Thanks Jiro for playing along
Desert Prison of Corel?
This whiffs profusely of Gold Saucer. Wide open space could refer to the fact that it's a floating complex in the sky. The Boss and his bling I think refers to Dio and the Keystone?
Bling sounds like either jewelry or gold, likely gold as in gil. .... Don't know who though.....
As a hint, I'm looking for the name of a specific person, one who would be likely to say the contents of the riddle :)
euuhhm.. the reception-guy (i think) at the hotel at that tropical island?
.. im just guessing random things :/
Nope, that's not him ^_^
Nope, that's not him ^_^
Hmmm... intriguing.
The last line initially made me think of the guy in Wall Market who wants you to get him an item from the Innkeepers vending machine. Though, Wall Market is hardly a wide open space so that can't be it.
I'm gonna have a guess at Yuffie. In Wutai, you can fight her Dad (the boss) and obtain his bling (If memory serves me correct, you get 50'000 gil and the Leviathan materia for beating him.
Ok Pike, not gonna lie the entire post there made me cringe. I've had a tit load of dental work done since I was 16 but still cringing and I've experienced fillings without painkillers. Physically sent a shudder down my spine.
As for my teeth, well as stated I have had a titload of dental work done since I was 16, the reason for this dental work is that I had my jaw shattered and lost two teeth. I've now got perfect teeth well, so long as I remember to do small stuff like take out the dental fitting at night (which I often forget to do so because it feels more weird with the plate out than in) I shouldn't need much more dental work.
Sorry. Anyway Yuffie wasn't the answer.
One of the guesses was in the right area but I'm looking for the person.
Well... I can think of the Battle Counter Guy (or what ever his name is.....)
It's not the battle counter guy!
Mr. Coates.
The desert around Corel Prison is definitely "wide open spaces" and Coates won't let you go until you bring back Dyne's bling, a pendant.
how the hell do you ppl remember all this? D:
Memory compartmentalization.
That and some of us might use the game itself - replaying it multiple times, and some of use might use the Strategy Guide (although, I think some of us only use the Guide on riddles rarely, or to help make them).
I go by memory only. If I can't figure it out from memory then there's no point in playing the game.
FFVII has become almost second nature to me. I've beat it 21 times so It's embarrassing that I can't think of anything right now ;_;
I'll fancy a guess
Bugenhagen? Is that even close to right?
havent even finished it 1x :/ im stuck
chionos, if you can't remember something - it's better to replay the game.
Oh, yeah, I wasn't dissing replays, I was more referring to using strategy guides, stuff like that.
chionos has it. Mr Coates is the right answer.
woot
Command me not to be
Command me not to be
Command me to be me
And I will be for all to see
A trade as of inequality
Some teeth for an eye,
An eye for some teeth
Always heal, always feed
Never want, never need
The Magic eye pots? In the northern crater?
Nope, but I can see where you could interpret it that way.
The troops you can deploy in the Fort Condor battles?
negativo
is it an item?
Eye for teeth and teeth for eye might refer to an 'eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth', or revenge, so I'll guess Master Tonberry.
Hmmm... we may need some clues on this one Chionos.
Is it significant that the first line is repeated twice?
It's definitely a reference to "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" but the way Chionos has written it is clearly a lot more one-sided. "Some teeth for an eye" implies that there are many deaths in revenge for one death or vice versa.
The last two lines remind of those Tamagotchi pets that were all the rage a few years ago....
I've no idea but I'm gonna have a wild guess with White Materia?
Nope. None of the above.
And yes, the repetition of the first lines is very very significant.
Is it the W-Item Duplication Trick?
Aye that's it bubba
Command me not to be
Command me not to be -- It's a command materia that lets you use two items
Command me to be me -- the duplication trick is not exactly using the materia the way it was intended to be used
And I will be for all to see
A trade as of inequality -- You lose an item to get many many more of another item
Some teeth for an eye,
An eye for some teeth -- This reiterates that you're not trading 1 for 1
Always heal, always feed
Never want, never need -- Using this trick means you have plenty of just about every item you'll ever even think of needing, elixirs, nuts, etc.
Late night late night
Doing a man a favour
Lunch time lunch time
I'll take the pills instead
I'll end up smelling better
Let's see how this one treats you.
The Wall Market exchange where you end up getting the Sexy Cologne?
And the Tiara, don't forget that one. The first two lines refer to staying the night at the inn and checking the vending machine.
A'ight you're up.
Found at the start,
They'll surely help you out.
Found at the end,
They're worse than useless.
Used correctly, lucky you'll be,
Used incorrectly, dead as the dirt.
Never underestimated,
Never overestimated,
The game will tell you the exact answer.
What is it?
Is it materia? I... have no real idea. If you use materia wrong but overloading or whatever it makes the game harder. I guess that's about the extent of my reasoning :exdee:
My guess goes to Limit Break.
when you get the first limit breaks your all over it. verry usefull etc.
but than comes the part where you get a lvl 2 Limit break.
Than you want to move on with the lvl 2 limit break, but at that time its only 1 move. while the lvl 1 has 3, but weaker.
i havent even finished the game so i dont know if thez are useless at the end.
but i have experienced that if you use them wrong it can screw up everything
is it a healing item
Hypo, it's not even been a full day and you're asking questions already.
Not materia or limit breaks.
sorry. is it potion
Yes, it is the Potion!
Found at the start, - In the very 1st map section, even.
They'll surely help you out. - Well, they're used for healing.
Found at the end, - They can be bought even from endgame shops.
They're worse than useless. - But they don't heal a whole lot at the end.
Used correctly, lucky you'll be, - Use one at 7577 health for all lucky 7's.
Used incorrectly, dead as the dirt. - Well, using a potion when low on health instead of a hi or x potion, not a good idea.
Never underestimated,
Never overestimated,
The game will tell you the exact answer. - They will ALWAYS heal 200, just as the game says.
You're up, HC.
桜や壊れた建物に囲まれたヒナギクに囲まれています。
STUPID!
if this one is too hard, I have another one prepared.
This is a trial. I want to be able to say it was a success.
It would be difficult to contain my satisfaction.
but seriously, this is like a beta riddle.
Hmm... It wouldn't happen to be Midgar, would it?
no
I don't get it, HC. What part is the actual riddle?
.. ive been wondering the same..
the first two lines
"桜や壊れた建物に囲まれたヒナギクに囲まれています。
STUPID!"
So this is it? If it is then I think I've worked it out.
There are 25 little squares on the first line of the riddle... 25 'squared' = 625. As we all know, the average number of fights by a gamer at the end of the first disk is... 625. Also, the square root of 25 is 5. Five is the average number of 'game over' screens a gamer will see on their first playthrough of this game. Now, we consider the second line of the riddle "STUPID!" This actually stands for "Silly Tifa Under Plays Initial Dilemma". This is an obvious reference to her feelings for Cloud when they were kids.
If you take all these factors into account and put them together then you arrive at the one, inescapable conclusion...
This riddle is crap.
I love the last 2 posts greatly!
Is the Answer Barret?
We are surrounded by broken buildings surrounded by sakura and daisies.
STUPID
nope, not barret
The flower bed inside the church?
Cheer for that, HC!
Is it the Church in the Sector 5 slums?
close. pay attention to the second line.
Is it Reno of the Turks?
He comes in and steps on the flowers... then tells the other soldiers not do the same
nope.
you have to choose a certain option for this riddle to become clear.
want a hint?
Is it the fact that you can opt to say that you don't know who Aeris is... even though you might have bought a flower from her at the start of the game?
If that's not it then yeah, a clue would be good!
the answer is a location.
5 guesses then a new hint.
just for a view sec i though you were serious xD haha
Attachment 35543
There has be more flowers around somewhere. The Church in the Slums is my best guess.
no.
The Honey Bee Inn
no
2 guesses till hint
Clearly the answer is Mideel (or whatever its name is). That place got its tit wrecked hardcore when Weapon weaponed the hell out of it.
The Sleeping Forest is located between Bone Village and the City of the Ancients, both places are pretty ruined and there's also the stupid Aerith letting herself get stabbed bit.
You know what. I bet there is a shop in Wutai that the turks accidentally exploded in the past that now has flowers growing near it. It is really the only place in the game that I can think of that might have Sakura trees.
nonono
hint:
the second line has to do with a story option
It's the stage in the Gold Saucer then.
no.
Can we get a new hint. I think this became abundantly clear when you said
So on with my awesome guessing.
1) Fort Condor
2) Mt. Nibilheim
3) The Sunken Ship
HOLY Piss monkeys! Isn't there a cave in the northern whatever that has a tree growing in it. Yeah, this is right after you crash spectacularly on your snowboard and you have to wander around before you climb the mountain. THat is the answer. I can't remember what was stupid but I know this is the answer....MAYBE!
hint. the place in question is accessible only in disks 1 and 3
The date at the Golden Saucer
Now for the worlds WORSTEST riddle ever
I am a mythical weapon created by the planet
What is my name?
diamond
ultima
emerald
ruby
the one that gets shot in the head
Sorry. Please try again. You are close....SSSSOOOOOOOOO close.
holy
Colder.
Lifestream?
saphirre
Mukki
In order of answers
I am in Antarctica I am so cold
So hot I want to punch you
WTF? Mukki? Isn't that a character from xenosaga. You are so wrong you are in another galaxy XD
the official weapons are
ultimate
diamond
emerald
ruby
the one that gets shot in the head.
mythological ones would include
sapphire-some say this is the name of the weapon that gets shot in the head
jade
omega
chaos
omega?
mukki is funny.
Mukki is GRAEYGHT
Something tells me the answer has to do with materia..... Am I right?
At this point you hapless bunch are not going to guess the right answer. The answer is just Weapon. The characters in the game never call them anything but weapon much like all the different version of Jenova you fight are referred to as just Jenova. It is only in battle that you get a differentiator.
You shouldn't put the answer to your riddle in the riddle...
It makes it less fun.
If it's my turn now, open round.
He did say it was the worst riddle of all time.
My butt's okay
But that girl is not
I'm too tired to puff!
That's as good as you're getting for now :exdee:
As Jiro said, I did say it was the worst riddle of all time. I gave you the answer and you couldn't get it on top of that. Turns out it was so obviously simple that you over looked it and thought "he wouldn't do that. What would the point of it be?" Now you know =D
You are talking about that girl that almost drown whats her face...the one with the dolphin *one wikipedia journey later* Pricilla
Yeah I was referencing that whole sequence really. The first line is my favourite because you fight the boss called Bottomswell which could be Bottom's Well which is your butt being okay  GO AGAIN
I am HUGE
Give me another chance
Why oh why do I put zero effort into these XD The last time I gave the answer and this time it is probably crazy difficult due to lack of...direction.
cait sith
I flamingoed up.
Like a cock up, only much much bigger.
open round
A final resting place
The end of the road
Not everyone can
Choose where they go
yeah, that sounds like the room in northern crater where you split everyone up, it's also the place where most people put their save point.
It has nothing to do with the Northern Crater :jess:
Hmm. could be quite a few things. Sounds a bit vague.
Cait Sith's death at Temple of the Ancients?
Either that or Aeris' death at the Forgotten City
It's not either of those, sorry! Vague means you have to guess more :p
is it right before the final trip to fight sephiroth when they park the airship and everyone has to decide what to do?
I am going to go with the confrontation in the Nibleheim reactor with Cloud, Zack, Sephiroth and Tifa.
Nope nope nope :jess:
It's not the life stream either!
Dyne's death at the Coral Prison?
It is not that either! Hmm, I think I need to give you guys a hint... The last two lines are a paraphrased version of a quotation said by Cloud. A bad hint perhaps, but I can't give it away just yet!
Ancient's city?
Incorrect!
Biggs, Wedge and Jessie dying in Midgar?
EDIT: Failing that... anyone dying anywhere in the whole game???
It's not related to the death of any character in the game - before, during or after the plot. It is a location. The first line is by far the most useful one.
The Highwind?
Before entering the Northern Crater?
Neither of those!
train graveyard?
It is indeed the Sector 7 Train Graveyard.
A final resting place
The end of the road
These first two lines obviously reference the fact that it is a graveyard, a place of death.
Not everyone can
Choose where they go
These two lines reference the quotation by Cloud where he talks about the train not being able to go anywhere except where its tracks take it.
Here it is:
U hold this 4 ways to destroy.
Is the 4 significant?
If not then I'm gonna go for Deathblow or Destruct?
4x-cut?
Kjata? Its power is Tetra Disaster!
Level 4 limit breaks or even just limit breaks?
Any of them?
Break = destroy
I don't know man. How about the lock on the Huge Materia in the space ship. You have to hit 4 buttons to destroy the lock.
There's also four codes to get into the safe in Shinra Mansion.
Comet.
