You'd think you'd be used to it, being Scotch and all.
Failures on all sides of my family.
England so far not looking as good as they did against Italy. They haven't quite settled.
Godin should've walked. Ref bottled it.
Oh for smurfs sake.
My heart's in pieces RIP
Was going to say England were shading it on points before the goal happened. Jagielka is having a mare - ball watching for the goal. Sterling playing well. Sturridge is having a bad case of thinking he's Zinedine Zidane and just doesn't want to play the easy ball. It's going to have to be all out attack in the second half because the defence has shown they cannot handle either Cavani or Suarez. A bit tidier with the passes and through balls (what's this obsession with chipping the ball into the box all about?) and they're back in this.
Well my prediction for a Rooney brace nearly came true in the first 30 mins.
We're definitely not playing like we did against Italy though which is a shame. Uruguay look like a different team though. The Suarez finish was good, nice movement. The ball to him was class though.
Still England to win 2-1 for me.
A clearly weakened Suarez and we still can't handle him - it's almost embarrassing.
Still hope though! Just gotta bring on the Ox.
I won't say get rid of Rooney, though, because as Bubba pointed out he's been alright so far!
Uruguay playing like they're the team who need a goal, not good, need to get a grip.
Also those Uruguay shirts are entirely too tight. I do not need to see their nipples in perfect detail xD
I dunno if Welbeck and Sterling would've been who I brought off. We don't need both Gerrard and Hendo. Last roll of the dice has to be one of them coming off for Rickie Lambert. Rooney and Sturridge are just being outnumbered here, a firmer presence up front will help with getting them some space. And for the love of god don't hoof long balls at him, he's good with his feet.
Hodgson will probably put Wilshere on :-/
I've been wanting to call Rooney trout all game but I resisted. :D See, Bubba? I backed the boys!
Sturridge and Johnson superb in that build up.
About time, Wazza.
Glen Johnson is the man. Sorry I slagged him last game.
England will still find a way to smurf this up.
Finish the job quickly boys, they're rocking.
Wow... Rooney finally made a goal. Wonder if they'll at least break the tie.
ENGLAND'S BRAVE ROO FIRES ENGLAND PAST SUAREZ' SAVAGES
I KNEW IT
Stevie G. :(
I am so sad for him.
Suarez is class. Fair play.
Well, that answered my concerns of England advancing.
Ref's been a homer all game tbf.
Also glad Roy listened to me in regards to subs!
I hate Luis Suarez more than I've ever hated another human being.
England should troll Uruguay and lose against Costa Rica.
Moral victory. Roo lifted the curse. He's due for multiple hat tricks in international play from now on.
Uruguay just better in the end. Same story as Italy.
Highlight of the night

I'm really glad we didn't hype England up before the World Cup - it's made this painful for a shorter duration of time.
This year England fans have been the only ones who said their team wouldn't win it, bar the odd nutter. I've seen quotes from even the Nigerians, South Koreans and the Americans saying they can do it. I enjoy saying England are crap a lot more than having any hope. It's like, well, of course we lost to Italy and Uruguay, we're bobbins. At least we're self-aware about it xD
I missed the beginning of Terminator 2 because of this crap. I am most displeased. :colbert:
MMMMF MMMMF I LVOE BELGIUM!
Wish I posted when this thread started so I don't look like I'm lying.
My top 4 before the tournament started were:
1. Argentina (My favorite team. Mainly because I'm a big Messi fan. He's basically the only reason I continued to watch soccer after Ronaldinho declined. And recently, I became a fan of midfielder Angel di Maria, due to seeing glimpses of what he did for Real Madrid in the last season. After the first match against B&H and picking him in my fantasy team, I've become fond of Marcos Rojo.)
2. Germany (They've consistently been doing well for their country, but haven't won the big one. I would love to see a team that can be so fundamental and execute such a tactical, old school play so well. They also have a bunch of stars. They're scary to go against.)
3. Netherlands (Love the Van Persie-Robben duo. Gained a lot of respect for them after the 2010 WC. They played well and it would be nice to see a team that comes back after losing; kind of like my Lakers after they lost to the Celtics in '08. :D
4. Brazil (No, I'm not band-wagoning just because they've won the most World cups ever or that they're the home team. They are just so DAMN fun to watch sometimes! With such exciting players like Neymar, Oscar, Dani Alves, Marcelo, etc. how can you not want to root for them?! But my main reason for liking them is because two of my top five favorite players, Ronaldinho and Kaka, played for Brazil. And that era with Ronaldo and Ronaldinho together, wow. I mean, that's what I'm trying to say! If they can still be exciting to watch compared to that 2002 WC squad, it's an amazing feat.)
But wow, this tournament has been great. 66 goals in 23 games. Upsets, almost upsets.
Was going to make a long post about Gerrard, Rooney, the defence and how England are over-reliant on young players when it's our big names who need to step up, only to read this article which does it all for me in a much more eloquent way, a good read:
www.football365.com/f365-says/9355137/F365-Says
A final word on itThat's the one positive I will take from that match. Good for you, Luis. You deserved that.Quote:

Sorry Old Manus. :shobon:
Sickener. Japan were all over the Greeks who played the most negative football I've watched (SPOILER)It was worse than Chelsea, but they're just such tiny little people that they couldn't win any headers and kept getting crunched in the tackle. Didn't help that they COULD NOT FINISH FOR LOVE NOR MONEY. Should have cashed out.
Also BBC Sport front page this morning: WOY WONT WESIGN EVEN AS BRAVE ROO AND HIS ENGLAND FACE ELIMINATION
What is this trout? They're not even out yet and the media are already brewing up some completely unjustified resignation angle? Results aside, England have played the best football I've seen them play in a major tournament since the late 90s. Uruguay and Italy are just better teams, and in Suarez, Pirlo and Cavani they have players who could beat England on their own. England subbed on Rickie Lambert. What were they expecting?
This is true, but the annoying thing is that this England team is reasonable and should have every right to progress quite far - the big problem is the fact that it's a very tough group they're in and as mentioned Italy and Uruguay are simply better teams. I don't like Roy particularly but there's not much he can do when both losses have at least two world class players on the opposing teams - two more than England have, the possible exception being Sturridge.
 2/10 thanks for playingQuote:
the possible exception being Sturridge.
Yeah, Sturridge - and none of his team mates - are world class. Gerrard and Lampard used to be between 2005-2010 (ish) and you may have been able to make a case for Rooney at one point. Sturridge is still young, he, Sterling and others certainly have the potential, but then they also have the potential to go the route of Aaron Lennon or Shaun Wright-Phillips instead.
Anyway look, if Italy beat Costa Rica and it looks like England will do the same, why the smurf would Italy and Uruguay do anything other than play for a draw? Uruguay would go through, Italy would top the group, problem solved all round. It's over.
......
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrghhhhh
Costa Rica are going to smurf England.
Not just smurf. Papa smurf
....Costa Rica
Would've been nice if that Italy (and indeed the Uruguay that faced them too!) had turned up against England! :p What a marked difference.
Utterly smurfing chuffed for Costa Rica though. Nobody gave them a chance. Wonderful scenes.
I'ma laugh if the USA moves on cause england won't haha
Oh, too bad guys :( but we tried! There's always next time!
lol @ England fans not being happy that he was supporting Uruguay
How dare he not support England that awful man
To the Tower of London with him!Seen Americans trying to bait the English all over the internet with stuff like this, and the English straight up laughing in their faces saying "yes we know we're trout, what's your point?" and "we're better at making fun of ourselves than you are!"
Sorry America, you're about as good as trolling as we are football. Nobody is taking the bait xD
smurf me, the French look decidedly tasty. I thought it was impossible to gauge how good they were against a woeful Honduras team. Not so against what is not a bad Switzerland team at all. Absolutely destructive.
Welp, that's England out. I was hoping they could make it until at least the last 16 to make it more entertaining (especially as an Englishman cheering them on in some US bar).
I was thinking of putting a tenner on a scrappy underdog team that has a very slim chance of winning, to make the tournament more interesting. Sadly I've been away the last week travelling and have missed most of the games so I can't really tell who would be a fun team to bet on based on current performance.
Any recommendations here?
Chile or Colombia could be worth a punt, France also as I say looking decent.
>>> Costa Rica beat Italy now??
What the hell..:lol::lol: :luca:
I am the most distraught about Spain being out because those guys are 100% hotties
France vs. Germany final?
I wasn't baiting or trolling I will be laughing because the English constantly like to tell us fans that we suck. So the irony will be amusing.
Bollocks. If you re-read this thread you won't see any England fans talking about the USA, whereas you'll see a lot of USA fans crowing about England. I think I'm the only England fan to comment on them and lord knows I've commented on every sodding team because I'm trying to watch every match :p I think of myself as a football fan more than an England fan anyway tbh.
The USA is completely and utterly insignificant to England fans. They don't register. Your average England fan would struggle to name any US player beyond Tim Howard (and only because he's played in England for 10 years) because they simply don't care. xD There was a lot of trout in 2010 because we were playing each other, but we've moved on. You should too!
I'm an England fan and I quite like the USA team.
Then again, Clint Dempsey has lost respect thanks to his 'rap album'.
Are you kidding me? That rap album is the best god damn thing. The best.
Anyone watching Honduras v Ecuador? Just me? I don't blame you. A crazy Honduran man with an afro in the crowd dancing like a madman has been the highlight so far. Utterly turgid football, hope Switzerland can go through at their expense. The South American teams all have a superstar - Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Sanchez, Falcao (I know he's injured)... Ecuador's is Antonio Valencia xD Says it all really, doesn't it?
Still have no idea how France did that. Shaqiri, Rodriguez, Xhaka, Inler... they are smurfing good players and Hitzfeld is of course a great coach. Think France have been grossly underestimated by many people, myself included. Their strength at centre back is absolutely insane - all four of theirs would get into any other nation's squad.
I love it when England loses because I just love watching the English self-deprecate well beyond the point of absurdity. Just like I love watching Spain lose because their style of play is an affront to the gods, and I love watching Portugal lose because Pepe and Ronaldo play for them. They are the three teams whose elimination I most relish.
The USA obviously has no shot at winning, so my hopes for the World Cup has always been those three being shamed (well on their way), the US advancing to the knockouts (possible), and Chile winning in an upset because they have Gary Medel and all their players are 4'10" tall. It'd also be cool to see the South Korean and Japanese teams do well (not looking great there) and an African team to really succeed, perhaps the Ivory Coast. Drogba is cool.
Paul, I didn't say YOU or people here were saying it but at other places online it is being said. Stop taking things so personal, geez so unlike you. Its that football fever huh

the legacy of greatness will never die
Apparently he's with the Costa Rica squad as a coach!
costa rica to win the world cup by a staggering margin, calling it now.
Watching Argentina vs. Iran. Why do so many Iranian players have Chris' haircut?
Argentina and Brazil both look untrustworthy to me. Brazil struggled against Croatia and Mexico....
But omg Argentina playing horribly against B&H and Iran.
But Messi with two beautiful goals in each game really was the game changer.
Germany struggling versus Ghana :erm:
I think Croatia will go far.
Bosnia being eliminated so early has shocked me.
I seen the match with Spanish subtitle's but wasn't Dzeko's goal onside in the first half? Could have been a completely different game, feel sorry for them.
What's been your match of the tournament so far? Ghana vs Germany was a fantastic game last night. I enjoyed England's too. They played better than each scoreline showed but that's what can happen when there is only 3 games to play. I've been noticing a lot of teams trying to play counter attacking football and sitting very deep so far. I think that's what France & Germany have done well compared to other possession holding teams like Spain. They have been using the wings a lot which I think is smart.
So far the WC has had some appauling decisions. If video ref isn't in place before the next WC or the managers have challenge system like in tennis then it'll be just stupid.
I think Chile have a real shot of winning the WC. Columbia could do very well too. I backed Germany before the WC but I dunno. France and Holland have been great to watch too. RVP
Lastly, USA! USA! USA! I want USA to qualify. I don't understand why many people put them down. They have some good players. Dempsey is a boss. America has the potential to be a footballing powerhouse in years to come if it became a more serious sport there, but there is still plenty of die-hard fans out there. Second only to Brazil to gets tickets for the matches.
Check out the fan reactions to Brook's goal - incredible scenes!
Yeah I hope the USA smurfs Portugal up the butt.
They have a good chance considering how poor Portugal look.
MMMMF MMMMF I LVOE BELGIUM!
Three minutes away from my prediction being true! The jammy smurfers are still troute! Good players, poor tactics.
Christ, Algeria smurfing putting Korea to the sword, did not think they were that good.
I enjoy seeing Korea being beaten after the shambolic biased refereeing of 2002 :)
And they're the false Korea anyway :colbert:
U-S-A! U-S-A!
Bar one player, Portugal are garbage. I love Ronaldo but I really hope the Americans batter them tonight.
Also, what the smurf are the BBC doing? Bruce Willis is a great actor but he knows bog all about football.
MMMMF MMMMF I LVOE BELGIUM!
Why can't you just come to terms with the fact that Belgium are now the dominant force in world football? Two comprehensive victories and already qualified with a game to spare. I can't see them struggling against anyone to be honest.
MMMMF MMMMF I LVOE BELGIUM!
I've put it off long enough, but Psy's set change has sparked my own xD
Calliope to win best sig Ciddies Dec 2014.
ARGH :mad2:
That was brutal.
Still, if I had been told at the beginning that the US would be 1-0-1 after two games, I'd have been happy. That was just a brutal way to draw.
Classic PT escape act.
USA will be fine. Neither them or Germany will play for anything above a draw and then you can go smurf Belgium's trout up.
I hope Dempsey kicks Ronaldo in the shin when he sees him next!
That's a long wait until Ronaldo joins MLS at 38.
maybe his knee will give out and he'll be shipped over sooner ;)
^Oh you gotta be troutting me
To be fair, she's absolutely right. The World Cup is clearly responsible for all domestic violence, trafficking, rape and sexual harassment. I'm glad our England Boys have taken a stand and decided to boycott the rest of the tournament.
What a ridiculous article.
Major event that billions of people are interested in? Let me throw up a quick piece about how this vaguely relates to my agenda to attract clicks and controversy.
Yes that is it. That is also why I enjoy watching Morris Dancing, building sites and chippendales.Quote:
Men's football is loved in Britain simply because the players are men
Do piss off xD
Having said that, it's a shame this article is just so bad because there is a point to be made about sexism and football but it's not the one she's making.
I don't think it would do any harm to have some female commentators and pundits (just as there are male commentators and pundits on the women's game) because women are just as capable of intelligent analysis as men. Likewise female coaches, referees and so on. Also the PHWOAAAAAAAR LOOK AT ALL THESE TOP 10 WORLD CUP WAGS or TOP 5 CROWD BABES IN BRAZIL articles are kind of embarrassing.
UGH NO, CARDED ;_;
Wish I could see Italy v Uruguay but all they're showing is England v Costa Rica.
Still, England fans are cracking me up. I love the gallows humour going around, singing songs like "England's going home!" and
Aaand Pirlo just kicked Suarez in the face!
A goal would be better though. Probably.
As an English person the Uruguay vs Italy match is supremely embarrassing
UGH, RED CARD ;___;
Did Suarez just bite someone again? And then grab his own face and fall down? And then have his team score the winning goal because they are playing up a man?
Suarez is a filthy, racist :bou::bou::bou::bou: and deserves to be shot.
SUAREZ! SUAREZ! SUAREZ!
smurfing hero. Bite everyone you psychopath, I love you.
I hope Suarez smurfing chokes on the next person he sees fit to bite. How did he not get sent off for that?
Can't wait for Belgium v Uruguay. Luis will score a hat trick before literally killing Failaini and the shower of tears spewing forth from Bubba will quench my thirst until Luis wrecks the mancs again at Old Toilet.
Quote:
When asked how he found the Italian defence, Suarez will answer "Al dente"
When Suarez and Uruguay are finally smurfed out of this World Cup I am gonna make a celebratory post in every thread on this forum until I am eventually banned... but it'll be worth it.
Banned? No, you'll just be renamed "Cantona isn't fit to lace Suarez's boots" (because it's the truth)
THE LEGACY
Weird, the last game I watched him play all I could notice about Suarez was his enormous donkey-teeth.
And then he goes and bites someone with 'em. :p
I'm just going to shamelessly steal it:
CHEWY LUIS AND THE BLUES
(SPOILER) Disgrace to sport and I would love it if he is banned for life
Disgrace? What is wrong with you xD How is it anything but smurfing hilarious? Ban him? What, because the BBC's esteemed pundits say so? Balls to that, give him a medal. Football is entertainment and that was pure entertainment.
If you ban him, well, okay, but what he did is nowhere near dangerous as what Marchisio did to get sent off or the elbow to the back of the neck the Uruguay keeper took or any number of high, late or reckless tackles in this match alone so better prepare to hand out a smurfton of bans. OH NO HE BIT HIM. How smurfing dreadful. Cancel the World Cup, Our Beautiful Game is dead.
Bunch of pearl clutchers.
I think the issue is the fact that it's the third time he's done it. It's not just some horrendous challenge, the bloke is a smurfing mental vampire.
Introducing new technology.
http://i61.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...u:/2zir8dk.jpg
Greece v Ivory Coast, what smurfing drama! 92nd minute penalty, all or smurfing nothing. Shame to some extent, Greece are boring as smurf and I like the Toure brothers, but god damn, this is the World Cup that keeps on giving. Definitely the best group stage I've ever witnessed.
Either Greece or Costa Rica in the QF, nobody predicted that.
The all South American clashes are smurfing tasty, Uruguay - Colombia and Brazil - Chile.
Makes you long for the days when guys would just headbutt each other in the chest.
I'm glad Uruguay are through, but it's the end of the road for them against Columbia.
My running theory: Suarez did this as a favor to his English Liverpool teammates so their flat showing will go unnoticed now.
Seriously though.... I am beyond words. Will this be it for him at the World Cup? In England? Cash plus Sanchez isn't looking too bad right now if only to put the headaches to bed.
Columbia looks scary good. James Rodriguez may be the player of the tournament thus far. Unless Suarez somehow avoids a ban, I think Uruguay go no further.
Really looking forward to USA-Germany. I'm sensing a draw, I just hope it's not a scoreless one.
Take care all.
The difference between Suarez and the others is exactly what Jess said - it's the third time. There's also the fact that everything he does, he denies like a coward. Did De Jong or Zidane deny what they did? No, they said stuff like "he insulted my sister, and I honour her, so I floored the smurfer." Luis is all "waaahhhhh, I would never bite someone, not once, not twice, not three times, this is all a big misunderstanding, I'm also not racist, my teammates are black and I never bit them once I didn't." ;) At least when he handballed he admitted it.
Overall the guy is just a dick cheat player. At least when Ronaldo dived, whined or moaned United players were capable of saying he should man up and get on with things. Liverpool are too precious about their little schnookums. I'm not sure if it's sort of like a mum and dad wanting to protect their wee baby by covering him in cotton balls, or if it's sort of like a mum and dad not saying anything because they live in fear that he will eat them for doing so. :D
Either nothing will happen or Suarez will get a suspension for like 6-10 games sometime after the World Cup. Nobody in the big top has the guts to get rid of a PL player for years in this day and age.
I don't know what Liverpool or Manchester United have to do with it it given that he was playing for Uruguay. Still, if you want to bring Premiership teams into it then okay I'm happy to score cheap points off you... just like Liverpool did at Old Trafford lmao. Liverpool fans are, on the whole, not defending him. Most are equally outraged and are demanding the club sell him - indeed, look at what the other Liverpool fan in this thread has said about it. The club aren't defending him. The club roundly condemned him and issued statement after statement after he did it to Ivanovic and I suspect you'll see more to follow in the wake of this incident. And I'm not defending him - I think it was stupid. Funny, but stupid.
My angle in all this is not "Poor little Luis", it's that I find the hysteria about it to be amusing. The pure hypocrisy of people getting their panties in a bunch over such a minor thing when infinitely worse and more violent acts occur in every game is an endless source of entertainment to me. The idiot pundits and ex-pros shrieking about it and the people parroting their views as though one rich fella biting another rich fella is somehow an affront to humanity all deserve mockery, especially because they all secretly love it because it gives them something to talk about.
Van Persie, an inferior player to Suarez who plays for the 7th best team in England (couldn't resist ;)), committed a horrible two footed scissor tackle on Mile Jedinak which was both deliberate and very nearly broke his leg and could've ended his career. Luis Suarez nibbled on a man's shoulder for two seconds and did not even break the skin. You tell me which one you'd rather be on the receiving end of and then try to justify all the moral outrage. Toot toot all aboard the hypocrisy train!
Football is just a silly game. We watch it for fun. A player biting another player is not a moral travesty; it's smurfing brilliant. If you get up in arms about it I will laugh and take the piss, just like I did with Zidane and De Jong. And that was why I mentioned those incidents, though you didn't seen to grasp it. :p As ever, I turn to the excellent F365 to explain it better than I can http://www.football365.com/john-nich...o-See-Actually (it's about the Pardew headbutt but it applies)
Football is for entertainment; are you not entertained?
Jesus, Paul.
Mark, Luke, Peter.
And Corinthians.
I don't think you of all people is in any position to judge a man who bites another man. Surprised you're not in some sort of club with Suarez actually xD
Nah man, I don't buy the 'but it's entertainment!!!!1' line, football is entertaining enough as it is. You just can't do stuff like that on a football field. It's on a whole different level to just throwing elbows around. What if, instead of biting Chiellini, he just (completely unprovoked) gave him a right hook to floor him as the cross came over? Even that is not on the same level as smurfing taking a chomp out of him! Mike Tyson did that and got his boxing licence rescinded amid humungous uproar, all in a sport where the whole idea is to cause enough physical damage to the opponent that he gets knocked unconscious. Biting 3 different players would even get you a life ban on a rugby field.
Think about Chiellini. He was going out there expecting to play football, not get bitten on the shoulder by some Uruguayan twat. And I don't like the Italian team. Suarez isn't even that great a player. I think Thierry Henry was better, and maybe Denis Bergkamp. There will be many more, superior players who will replace him, and more importantly do it without being a diving, playacting, handballing, biting, walking red card in the process. Not a great loss to football.
Re Zidane headbutt: Does nobody remember the world of football (especially the French) going absolutely nuclear with rage in the immediate aftermath of what he did? The back pages were just a collection of synonyms for 'disgrace'. It wasn't until it came out how he was provoked that people started to sympathise with him (and many still don't). Luis just up and bit the guy(s) out of nowhere, for no reason whatsoever.
Comparing it to Mike Tyson is a false analogy. Mike Tyson bit part of a man's ear off; Luis Suarez left a light indentation on a man's shoulder. You cannot compare
This (Gross)
http://resources1.news.com.au/images...501-eh-ear.jpg
to
this.
http://www.independent.co.uk/incomin...llini-bite.jpg
Likewise you cannot compare a right hook to the face or an elbow to the back of the head to some mild teeth indentations. Of course a right hook is worse than that and I don't understand why you think it isn't. What if, though? He could've knocked him out and given him a concussion, ending his game if not his World Cup, a far worse fate than the one he suffered.
Chiellini didn't expect to get bitten. Muslera didn't expect an elbow to the back of the head. Arevalo didn't expect Marchisio to stamp on his knee. All three are probably not surprised at taking a hit on a football field. It's a contact sport. You expect to have people make contact with you. Yeah you can say you expect a stomp more than a bite but so what? If he'd torn his throat out with his oversized teeth then fair enough, but he really didn't. As mentioned above in regards to a punch, only one has the potential to cause serious injury and end someone's World Cup and I bet you 99 out of 100 footballers would rather take a Suarez nibble than a Marchisio stomp. Sucks for Chiellini though, yeah, and if justice is done Suarez should get a one match ban for a red card offence the same as Marchisio did. And then that's it. Everyone moves on, same as with any other incident.
I think you misunderstand me on Zidane. I know the world blew up after that. My point was that I laughed at the hysteria then and I'll laugh at it now.
But he's not being punished because the bite might have caused serious injury, he's being punished because a bite is so far removed from anything you'd expect or allow on a football field, not to mention in incredible disdain for the concept of sportsmanship, that it's unreal. I still think it's worse than a right hook. A punch is a fairly common act of aggression, that while rare in football (and sport in general), is not unheard of. Biting someone though, is just...unhinged. It's animal-like. There's a line in the sand, and Suarez crossed it (three times).
If we're applying morals and motivations to it, you tell me which is worse - the deliberately calculated spiteful act or the uncontrolled wild act of someone who is, as you say, unhinged?
I think the bite was deliberately calculated.
After what happened last time nobody would do that deliberately, it simply isn't worth the ensuing troutstorm. Especially when he is apparently angling for a move to Spain - he's probably scuppered that given how brand-focused Real Madrid and Barcelona are. Their sponsors would not take kindly to it either.
Maybe he has to do it to keep his king size chompers from overgrowing and potentially causing further serious issues with his face? Like a rat. I don't think it's fair to immediately burn the witch, when all he really needs is some cuttlefish and a scratching post.
Attachment 57648
He needs quarantine.
I can only imagine that Suarez is going to receive a stiff penalty for the biting incident, if only because it is on the world stage, everyone has seen/read about it, and now FIFA has a reputation to consider. FIFA can't be seen to be complacent or lenient towards a repeat offender, lest more hurlings of 'shameful' are to be doled out.
It's a different kettle of fish to a biting incident on just the English league.
There is a fascinating article written about Suarez's early days on ESPN:
http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/stor...autiful-player
Essentially it paints him as a man so driven to not lose and end up on the streets that he will do ANYTHING to win. Worth a read as it gets to the heart of this story.
Take care all.
Highlight of the tournament has been Costa Rica so far. I love an underdog, and Costa Rica was pipped to be the alsoran in their group, only to the win the group pretty easily. I love stories like that.
Random points from games nobody else but me probably watched:
Messi looking ominously good!
I thought Bosnia would do well with Dzeko and Pjanic in the squad... shame it was too little too late.
Valencia sent off yet again, he's regressed so much from when he won the young player of the tournament in 2006.
Shaqiri finally smurfing looking good, after he's done smurf all in my fantasy football team up until now. I have both the guys who have hat tricks in this tournament in my team :smug:
France have done well in this tournament so far, but I'm surprised at Pogba. I thought he'd be the one driving it but he's actually been kinda meh.
France were looking good after their first two games but they were very ordinary in that game. Keep that up and they won't get past the quarters. Don't understand Equador playing for the draw with still 15 minutes to go
I find it fascinating you actually defend this dude. Especially with saying; yeah but these are fouls too. Yeah, they're fouls. Not allowed. Frowned upon. You can't go around saying biting someone is normal just because other contact fouls are fouls too. Like Manus said, there's a line.
I don't think you quite read my posts. I've made it clear I'm not defending him, I think it's stupid and I think he should get a ban, just as the perpetrators of any foul should get a ban. However, I also think the witch hunt is ridiculous, as are "BAN HIM FOR LIFE!" calls, especially because there are more violent and dangerous incidents that occur without anyone so much as batting an eyelid.
Chiellini is fine, the game carried on as normal, the world did not end. We should just laugh, call him an idiot and move on instead of acting like this is anything remotely important or serious.
Forget Suarez. Messi's two goals were a joy to see today :D
Let me just check my facts. The only game that England didn't lost was against the team that beat everyone, and the only game that Costa Rica didn't win is against the team that lost to everyone. Is that right?
I actually thought you were defending him, too, Psy. :shobon: But then I've been skimreading because of time constraints. Just a case of being on the defensive in general I guess that makes it come across that way.
I don't know if a life ban should be on the cards or not, but I do think that biting three players is worse than Rio missing one drugs test or Cantona fly-kicking one person, and I believe they were both given considerable bans. What length of ban do you feel would be appropriate for Luis?
The only person I can think of off the top of my head for being intentionally damaging to other players on a regular basis is Joey Barton. What's the worst punishment Joey got? And were his offences generally on the pitch, and did he actually throw punches at least three times on the pitch or was it always just pushing and barking? Obviously off the pitch Joey naturally has been to prison for things, but I imagine FIFA don't care about "off the pitch" antics. Not sure...
England played very well! Offensively that is. They were beautiful to watch against Italy and Uruguay on offense.
The Uruguay defence was absolutely immaculate. I loved watching them just close in as soon as the offense got near. England were not flexible enough and just kept trying the same thing over and over, and Uruguay just kept shutting them out over and over. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it, although I want all referees (that I've seen) in this World Cup to die in a fire.
Just wanted to say this is a fantastic article, one of the best football ones I have ever read. Thank you for posting it. Whether or not you like Suarez it's a fascinating story and interesting to learn a little about Uruguayan football culture too.
Hoping the USA manage to go through tonight and then beast Belgium in the next round! I remember earlier in this thread black orb being shocked at people the USA liking football. Well, sir, prepare to be shocked again! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-maga...nitor-27978699 interesting to see!
More people watched the Portugal game there than any NBA finals game too, and this is a great article about the popularity of the sport there - while it'll never be a regular week-in, week-out sport for Americans like baseball/the NFL, the World Cup is almost like the Olympics in a way. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...yes-soccer-too
A few points...
- Lionel Messi is showing that he can produce on the world stage but he won't be good enough to carry what is an average Argentina team to lift the trophy.
- Luis Suarez is a world class player and a world class cock. I think a lengthy international ban will be the best course of action. I place biting in the same bracket as spitting. It is disgusting and there is no place for it in football. Yes, a player would rather be nibbled on the shoulder than suffer a serious leg break, but tackling (even bad tackling) is part of the game... spitting/biting/scratching/fighting isn't.
- England acquitted themselves well in a tough group. A few big names underperformed but on the whole I don't think we should be too disappointed. Italy and Uruguay were better teams and we can't argue with where we finished.
- It won't matter who Belgium face in the next round as they are a sporting juggernaut on a path to immortality. They will destroy whichever team they face and will do it with style and conviction.
Judging from this thread, probably not England! :p You might have some that support two teams such as Italian-Americans supporting Algeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
I've always rooted for Italy but obviously want the US to win :p
9 match ban, four month ban from football related activity.
...THE WEREWOLF RETURNS FOR HALLOWEEN!
Ridiculous. But then that'll keep him at Liverpool for another season :) Unless we're stupid enough to accept a reduced bid.
Hey Amerifriends, where can I watch USA vs. GER online? I'm sick in bed and have nothing better to do.
I'm gonna stream it over comcast.com while working.
I think the ban if fair given the circumstances as it's on the world stage. Whether or not we think it's harsh or more should have been done doesn't matter, he's the idiot who keeps getting himself into these messes.
I'm going to an Irish bar in Barcelona to look at the USA game at 6. Hopefully they can at least get a draw. If not, I'd like to see Ghana progress. I like Cristiano but they have been lackluster so far.
wow Germany needs to step it up they should be ahead by like 3 by now
For the first 10 minutes I was pretty pissed off; Americans thought that their strategy of "blast a thru-ball up 2/3 of the pitch" strategy which barely paid off against Ghana would work against Germany. Possesion stats were ridiculous in the first 15 minutes or so. After that (obviously) failed, they've calmed down and have been doing a lot better. We're still playing the super fast-paced scrappy game compared to Germany's patient, precise passing, but at least in a less spastic manner towards the end there.
Our defense in the box has been pretty solid so far imo. The Germans have lasered a few pretty nice balls in there and we've been able to clear it every time so far. Good position play from Howard so far as well.
All in all a decent half for us Yanks. Keep it up boys.
Brad Friedel is my absolute favourite American player of all time  His gravelly tones on my television make me happy.
I think this Germany kit is probably my favourite of the tournament.
I also think this one has draw written over it. I thought so beforehand (and I appreciate the I KNEW THAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN :smug: after it happens is douchey so sorry!) and I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise. Cue someone getting thumped :p
Oh trout, here comes Klose though!

HAHAHAHHAHA smurf OFF RONALDO
Lots of gratuitous shots of USA babes in bikinis in the crowd. Not complaining, but come on xD Just heard an American reporter call it the Group of Death. Group of Death my arse xD B and D were both worse. Americans look utterly battered, the poor sods, like they were in a punch up. Hope they smurf Belgium hard.
Anyway Suarez was the only reason I was supporting Uruguay and with him gone I'm jumping ship again :D
Went to lunch with a friend in Manhattan today so I didn't get to watch the game, but anyone who doubts the love of the world cup in the US just needed to take a walk through the streets. All the bars were packed, there were people blowing horns in the street, it was actually a really great atmosphere. Certainty not on the level of football crazy countries, but a real surprise when you consider the reputation.

>>> Best WC ever :plumcheer::plumcheer:..:luca:
Belgium are easily the worst team I have ever get 9 points. Then again, Group H is easily the worst group in a World Cup I have ever seen. England would smurfing win that group.
>>> Rooting for Chile now Psychotic?
they are going to lose against Brazil ya know..:luca:
We'll see.
Who are you rooting for in all of this?
>>> I`ll root for one team that get into the finals, I dont care who is it..:luca:
Well yes I believe that is a possibility but Algeria v Germany is different to Algeria v anyone else. They've been waiting to get revenge on the Germans for 32 years after this debacle. Can't wait.
I'm rooting for Ghana and America of course. Mother Africa and Father America. They would have to be in the same damn group though. Honestly I don't care who wins as long as it isn't Brazil or Argentina again. And Portugal can also smurf right off. I suspect it will probably be Argentina again though.
Chile to go out in the next round based entirely on the fact that they are featured in Psy's "Kiss of Death" sig. It didn't exactly cause Uruguay to go out, but...
I think Chile have a good shout if they set themselves up right. This Brazil team is good, but when I think of Brazil I think of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu, and this team is nowhere near that.
USA also could nick it against Belgium. The Belgians' own lack of coherence and style may prove their downfall against a well organised American team. I'd still back them to go through though.
My predictions: Chile, Colombia, Netherlands (Mexico always go out in the round of 16!), Greece (they are the one team who will NOT underestimate Costa Rica), France, Argentina (just. I'd back Switzerland if not for Messi magic), Germany, U-S-A, U-S-A!
I'd go along with Paul's predictions. In other news, Man U have captured Herrera & Shaw. I don't know much about either of them (dispite Shaw playing in the Premier League) but I'll go along with my brothers prediction thats he an excellent player in the making.
Filled out my work pool bracket today. Couldn't bring myself to pick any first-round upsets. Have Brazil, Germany, Netherlands and Argentina in the final four, with Netherlands beating Germany for the championship.
Edit: it is relevant to note that I know literally nothing about international soccer. I just like filling out brackets.
Anglo Alliance is Best Alliance. England's out so I've got to support the States. They won't win but I am going down with this ship. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps2a04fa59.gif http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ps8397c9a5.gif
Here's my predictions. Knowing me, they will almost certainly fall on their face.
Brazil vs Chile - Brazil have under-performed for me yet still finished their group comfortably. Meanwhile, Chile have impressed me. I'll go for Brazil though. Home territory and all that. I want Chile to win though, I love underdogs.
Columbia vs Uruguay - Columbia did fantastically well, but it was in a rather weak group. Meanwhile, Uruguay did okay but I still think (and want) Columbia to win.
Netherlands vs Mexico - The Netherlands, I'd be surprised if they didn't.
Costa Rica vs Greece - Both rather small teams, who will be ecstatic to go through to the next round. I am willing Costa Rica to win this. They are my new team to root for the tournament.
France vs Nigeria - France's to lose. Thankfully, compared to the last world cup, France have improved dramatically. I would be incredibly surprised if France lost this.
Argentina vs Switzerland - I like Switzerland, and would love them to cause an upset, but I think Argentina will win this, simply because they have Messi. Switzerland lost pretty heavily against France, which made them look vulnerable against bigger teams.
Germany vs Algeria - I would love Algeria to win, but Germany will probably silence them.
Belgium vs USA - Probably the closest round of 16 match. It's very hard to call this one. America lacks quality but makes up for it with teamwork and general coherence. While Belgium has done pretty well, they were in a weak group to begin with. I want the USA to win, and I have no idea. I'll say USA.
Relevant.

During the USA vs. Germany game lol
Hilarious to see Alan Shearer of all people going on about the Suarez incident and how shocking it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8fMbxLTpps&app=desktop
smurf off Shearer you hypocrite xD
Having said that, Neil Lennon deserved it. My Dad was working in Leicester at the time and through his work there was some charity event they ran for some schoolchildren and local footballer Neil Lennon would be in attendance to sign autographs and everything! The smurfer didn't turn up, didn't even bother to tell them he wasn't coming. My Dad, despite being a Leicester fan, smurfing pissed himself with laughter at Neil Lennon being kicked in the head let me tell you.
Your dad sounds like an alright bloke.
I want as many responses as I can get...I'm trusting that this thread will be very active, so I'm not creating a new poll thread.
Will Belgium shut USA out or no?
LET's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHILE
:praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun:
I would love Chile to win, but I just think Brazil has this one.
I DO NOT APPROVE OF THIS
http://iyouboushi.com/forum/public/s...emot-laffo.gif
who's gonna wind up in your Sig of Death next?
Great job Psy, you've just condemned Chile to death. How do you feel?
Costa Rica, USA or Colombia probably.
Or France/Belgium if I'm feeling spiteful :mwahaha:
YESSSSSSSSSS SANCHEZ THE MAN IN MY AVATAR WHERE IS YOUR CURSE NOW
smurf I removed him from my fantasy football team this morning xD
Hold the phone. Chile's equalized.
You've been reprieved for now, Psy.
oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HOLY trout YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
:praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun::praisethesun:
I legitimately thought it was offsides or something due to the non-reaction of the crowd but then I remembered that it's 99% Brazilians.
