On one hand, I was 200 points away from making the top bracket, but in another sense I was 5 points from it.
I think 14 teams was too many.

We had 14 last year as well, but I agree. 12 teams the year before seemed just right. Heck, we could get rid of OMGWTFBBQ and the Boston Knights and have a much more fun league next year.
Well, once I got his attention, VC started to win. He actually finished the season 5-2, you know.
But I think having teams play each other more than once makes things more intriguing, so maybe we should go back to 12 teams next year.
Yeah, VC finished ahead of me. But he didn't always pay attention to the league. Can't really have a 13 team league though.
we had 12 teams last year.
Here is a screenshot from 2004.
Here is a screenshot from 2003.
I didn't play fantasy football before that.
EDIT: Man, this brings back memories of the good old days where I was always a contender until near the end of the season where I would fade and become a consolation bracket contender.
..and when I couldn't be touched.
But yeah, 12 is better. If we have a lot of people next year we can think about splitting off into two leagues, so that the people who are really into this stuff can play with each other, and the more casual fantasy fans can still have a group to play with.
Go Giants!
That's not a bad idea, Del.
If we can get Proto, 4, and Rocko back, and the usual crop of newcomers, we would have enough people for 2 good sized leagues (10-12).
Don't worry, I'll return for next year Del.
Good. It always sucks to be without one of the previous playoff teams.
I totally don't remember having 14 teams last year, but I guess we did.
That 2003 screenshot is the week before I went 4-1 to end the season in second place behind Rocko, but with a huge points lead. Then I proceeded to waltz through the playoff bracket.
Haha, yeah, I picked weeks where I was at my highest point in the year for the screenshots (not that I have one of every week, I don't have any from this year as I barely talked about fantasy football in my lj.)
I don't see us getting m4tt back, but who knows?
I don't even remember being in the league last year.
That's because you didn't pay attention ;)
No I think It's because I had a bad team because I didn't make the draft...which in turn caused me not to pay attention :)
I'll probably join next year. I was going to join this year but it was TOO LATE. :'(
Well I go from literally bottom two last year to an automatic first or second place finish. This will be an interesting finals matchup.
whew, made it to the consolation championship. Strider will pose a tough challenge for 5th place. His team has been better all year, but hopefully I can have one of my big weeks.
You've definitely got the matchups to do it - your guys are playing SF, Houston, New Orleans, Jets, etc.
Next week is by far the most important event in EoFF FFL: the Toilet Bowl Championship, me vs. RSL.
yea, I do have some favorable matchups. Drew Brees vs KC is nice, especially if LT is out.
I'm still going to win, though.
You said that against Del in week 14, Fresno. :p
I'm quite confident that, for this season anyway, everything Strider says will be wrong. Therefore, I predict eesty to win the consolation bracket.
Note that Fresno did not make a post saying he'd beat me last week, which he did. The man has already sealed his fate.
maybe Tony Gonzalez will put up 55 points and make up for all the 4 point weeks he put me through earlier this season.
Hah. It amuses me that Chris Cooley had more TDs just in his last game than Gonzo's had all year. Cooley is by far the coolest tight end. Get it, coolest? I crack me up.
You all know there's more talk about the consolation and toliet bowl championship than the actualy championship, right?
It's because all the big names are in the lower brackets. This is like what happened with the World Series this year. The White Sox and Astros were good teams but nobody cared since New York or Boston or St. Louis weren't in it.
Also, you and Captain aren't much of gloaters.
I was right about Bledsoe in Week 14, damn it! >:o
Lucky guess. :pQuote:

Nah, it's too easy.
So a silent championship game then. I'll take it for what it's worth.
It doesn't help that this is Christmas weekend. Football isn't really in the air right now.
Tomorrow may very well determine who wins this league.
Monday night may, too because we each have 2 players on monday night.
Who plays on Monday? Green Bay as usual?
New England vs. The Jets
I've got Brady and Coles, he's got Dillion and Branch.
New England defense for the shutout of the hapless Jets! You heard it here first!
And the Toilet Bowl Championship comes down to a fitting Toilet Bowl WR matchup: Mark Clayton (2nd WR for Baltimore) versus Koren Robinson (2nd WR for Minnesota), with me ahead by 3 or so points. I like my chances, as Clayton has been pretty consistent the last three weeks (16 receptions, ~200 yards, 1 receiving TD, 1 rushing TD).
Go Baltimore!
Congrats to The Captain for winning the league this year! And I guess to Strider too for winning the loser bracket. Both are well deserved in their own way.
Thank you kindly!
'Twas a hard fought season and I'm just very grateful to have come through it.
Great season everyone! When does baseball start? I guess I have basketball and hockey to tide me over somewhat..
Take care all.
Congrats Captain. When you put up 133 points and still can't beat the top team, there's a reason for that. They are the best.
I'm happy with my finish though.
Another fun year; I'm happy with my third place finish and Yahoo trophy. Congrats to Captain, who was 2-0 against both me and CD. I'm ready for another fantasy football season, but I guess baseball will have to tide me over.
Interesting correlation between draft spot and finish:
Gee Whizzinators: drafted first (Tomlinson), finished third
DeathsHand: drafted second (Manning), finished fourth
The Dragons: drafted third (S. Alexander), finished second
That's what makes Captain so awesome. He didn't have a top 5 pick yet he was still able to win it all. Great effort all around.
Draft spot is very much a factor with football, because there are a handful of players who just light it up (the three mentioned) and then the talent level falls off pretty fast. Not so much for baseball and basketball. Priest Holmes used to be up there but I think that ship has sailed.
Indeed. I am willing to bet my life that I won't be able to draft LJ in the latter rounds next season.
Take care all.
you still got him before I did, and I figured nobody would draft him before me!
Looks like the Del/eest (but mostly me) Era has ended. Congrats to Cap and CD for being the top players this year.
Now when's baseball starting?
well, there's always next year.
