The Discovery Races?
Sorry, not the Discovery Races.
Atop a Dragon I stride to aid a dragon rider.
Beyond a hill I wander to defend a shadowy killer.
Through deep darkness I search for Apocalyptic magic.
Over a Giant I leap toward greatest safety.
The bolded line reminds of "End" from DD... Am I on the right track?
Sorry f.c., the answer lies nowhere in the D.D.
Is it a freaking proposition?
I'll bet it's the Move-Find Treasure in Nelveska Temple:
Atop a Dragon I stride to aid a dragon rider. (Javelin (2) can be used by Lancers, you can climb across a dragon to get up to the pillar)
Beyond a hill I wander to defend a shadowy killer. (Sasuke Knife, which can be used by Ninjas, is found on the hill behind the temple)
Through deep darkness I search for Apocalyptic magic.(Nagrarock, the sword that can turn enemies into frogs. It's a play on Ragnarok, the apocalypse in Norse mythology. It is found in the cavern floor)
Over a Giant I leap toward greatest safety (You can climb over Worker 8 to a pillar to get Escutcheon (2), the best shield in the game)
Nope! Sorry BG-57, that answer is way off.
:chuckle: Conan, conan, conan... don't you know that BG-57 is tha man? He is almost never wrong. Your turn, Bee Gee Fity-Se'en, you sly fox you! :holmes: F.Y.I.: The Sasuke Knife has the best weapon defense of any ninja sword, and the Nagrarock is described as an ebony sword from the Apocalypse.Quote:

Fair warning: this one could be tough.
Finath River?
Sorry, I've always got to open up with a terrible guess before putting thought into it.
That's okay. It's not Finath River though.
Hmm...so what exactly is a trigone?
A trigone looks like this:
By a more common name of course. :D
Excellent. I believe I'm one step closer now.
Zeklaus desert?
Good guess, but no.
Nelveska Temple?
Not Nelveska Temple.
Could it be the bridge level from Deep Dungeon?
It's not Bridge, although you are close.
Stupid guess:Barious valley?
Maybe a slight hint is in order...
It's not a stupid guess, but it's not the answer either. :greenie:Quote:

BG, your image of a trigone looks remarkably like the greek letter "Delta", which is also the name of a floor in the DD.
Balanced across the trigone's point
Perhaps once where a river flowed
The gods themselves will beat you
If you do not bow before them
And also, a Delta in geographical terms refers to a river branching out as it flows into the ocean, hence line two.
The gods themselves will beat you probably refers to the Mace of Zeus, which I think you can find on that floor, somwhere. I'm not sure about that, but I think so.
And the last line leaves me somwhat puzzled. You used the word "bow" as in what you'd do in front of a god, but it is spelled the same as "bow" as in arrows and stuff. Is the Perseus or Yoichi bow on that floor? I know that both of those are in the DD, somehere, but it has been years since I looked for them, so I don't know for sure. Maybe I'm just crazy about that bow/bow thing.
You are correct feioncastor! The answer is Delta. :)
As you suggested, delta is a triangular Greek letter and also the mouth of a river. The Mace of Zeus is indeed a Move-Find treasure there, as is the Yoichi Bow.
I was making a really bad play on the word bow in line four. :radred:
Which was better, Yoichi or Perseus Bow? I remember those two both being awesome in the realm of bows, but I can't recall which was actually "better"?
Well, anyway:
Longevity questioned
The blade below
You're not asleep
Is that ice, do you know?
But still, you stand
"dirt" around your knees
as still as a statue
As silent as the trees.
Not every line is ridiculously pertinent, so go with your first guess, and you'll probably have it right. It would be cool if you could actually figure how each line pertains to the answer, though.
Perseus Bow is better, with a weapon power of 16, compared to Yoichi Bow's 12. It can be found in Voyage using Move-Find.
I'm going to guess the Geomancer's Blizzard, which works on snow and ice and adds silence to attacks.
Noppers.
Not Blizzard.
BTW, making a riddle that BG-57 or Despotus didn't figure out in one guess is quite an honor!
Heh. :greenie:
Sounds like status ailments, especially Death Sentence, Stop and Silence.
Nameless Dance?
I'm thinking it might have something to do with the swords...
Longevity questioned = Long Sword
The blade below = Ragnarok
You're not asleep = Sleep Sword
Is that ice, do you know? = Ice Brand
But still, you stand = Ancient Sword
"dirt" around your knees
as still as a statue
As silent as the trees.
However, those last 3 lines I'm not sure of. Also I could be way off, or I just solved 62% of it for someone....oh well.
Excellent guesses, but not what I had in mind.
Is it time for a hint?
I will repost the riddle, fixing a few confusing things like lines and punctuation.
Longevity questioned,
The blade below,
You're not asleep,
Is that ice, do you know?
But you'll continue to stand
"buried" to your knees
as still as a statue
As silent as the trees.
Statis sword?
Longevity questioned, = it only has 2 range
The blade below, = it can hit below, unlimited vertical range
You're not asleep, = but you'll be stopped
Is that ice, do you know? = it looks like ice
But you'll continue to stand = because you're stopped
"buried" to your knees = "life is short, bury....statis sword!"
as still as a statue = you'll stand still when you're stopped
As silent as the trees. = you can't cast spells when you're stopped.
Am I close? :)
Yes, it is Stasis Sword
The first line, "Longevity questioned" refers to the "Life is short" line.
And when you use it and they say something, for some reason, they call it "steady sword". Kinda weird.
"The Blade Below" references how the blade comes up from below as the ice is falling.
Good job conan! Your turn.
*edited*
A character who appears in all chapters except 2,
A monster that cannot enter water and can attack with random damage,
A boss with an archer's reaction ability,
An accessory that comes equipped on a guest when they join you.
An ability from the chemist class costing 400 jp.
What do these FIVE have in common?
Holy Swordsman (Orlandu)
Holy Dragon (Reis)
Holy Priest (Zalmo)
Holy Miter (Rafa I think)
The common thread seems to be Holy things.
Hmm...now that is an interesting, certainly possible scenario...except that Orlandu does not appear in chapter 1. Try again! Note: Edited the 4th line slightly.
Is Ramza Beoulve the character who is not in chapter 2?
I could be wrong....but Ramza Beoulve is present THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE GAME...
Umm, in chapter 2 he is called "Ramza Ruglia", not "Ramza Beoulve", so I thought that's what you may have been getting at.
I see...well no, nothing tricky like that in this riddle. What I mean is you never actually SEE this character in chapter 2, but he/she appears in the others.
The Monster hint doesn't help much, since most of them cannot enter water.
If the character with Archer reaction isn't Zalmo (with Arrow Guard), is it Zalbag (with Speed Save)?
Hmm...that's certainly an interesting, possible scenario.
How about names that begin with Z?
Zalbag
Zalera
Zalbag
Zorlin Shape
And if any of my guesses are correct so far, could you let me know?
What I will do is edit the lines to make it a bit easier. (Also I added one.) And also, all of the things are different, so for example Zalbag wouldn't be the answer to more than one line. Also, refresh my memory, what guest joins with a zorlin shape?
Off the top of my head I can only think of two bosses with an archer reaction ability, and you've already named them both, that's a pretty massive clue...
I'm not sure anyone does, I was trying to see if a Z theme fit, since Z names are rare. And both Zalmo and Zalbag have Archer reaction abilities equipped at one point in the game.
A character who appears in all chapters except 2, (Zalbag)
A monster that cannot enter water and can attack with random damage (Hydra)
A boss with an archer's reaction ability (Zalmo)
An accessory that comes equipped on a guest when they join you.(Chantage?)
An ability from the chemist class costing 400 jp (Holy Water?)
Five lines now?
I added a fifth line, yes. Good luck finding the right theme! You're definitely close, a few of the lines are right, but you still need the thing in common they all refer to.
Oh, is it related to Blood Suck?
A character who appears in all chapters except 2, (Elmdor can Blood Suck)
A monster that cannot enter water and can attack with random damage (Vampires can Blood Suck with Monster Skill)
A boss with an archer's reaction ability (Zalbag can Blood Suck)
An accessory that comes equipped on a guest when they join you.(Alma's Barrette protects against Blood Suck)
An ability from the chemist class costing 400 jp (Holy Water cancels Blood Suck)
Alma's Barette is not an accessory!!! You're wrong!! :)
Think of a guest nobody would ever use....
108 Gems then.
Algus? :eep:
You meant to say Malak, but yes you win, it's blood suck.
Man, that riddle Blood Sucked! ;)
Open to the sky and long since broken
But it must be used for steering
Since it doesn't hold anything up
Wonder what torque it could manage?
Some kind of device from Goug Machine City?
It's not related to Goug.
Is it the Chocobo Canon?
It's not the Chocobo Cannon.
It's something from the propositions, isn't it.
Oddly enough, it isn't. :p
Hint time.
HintTorque is a physics term to describe the force of rotation.
I know what torque is... That doesn't help much...
Think of (SPOILER) spinning things, then.
The windmill at Fovoham Plains?
Good guess, but no.
Okay, Hint #2 time.
HintThink of a vehicle.
BTW, your new sig made me laugh. :D
Dang.
Hint #3
just a guess Worker 8 :screwy:
Not Worker 8.
HintIt's the site of a Lucavi-related battle.
The Airship where you fight Hashmalum or is it this smily :screwy:(u see it's spinning)
Yeah it's the Graveyard of Airships. Specifically, the broken propeller on the sides. The Airship can still levitate without them, so it must use them for steering.
Your go, Past passado. :spin:
Yikes!i pass.you see i'm not a good riddle maker.
feioncastor, you want to take a turn?
I can't think of anything good right now. maybe Conan or Depsotus will jump in with something.
Jump in I shall.
I have an ability which a squire might help me to use;
This ability can be used to attack a group of enemies, but it only hits at one height level at a time.
I can be found in an area connecting a city and a hill.
I can't enter water, and you must fight my kind in 2 different battles.
Who am I??
I'm going to guess Sacred, because their Gather Power skill works like the Squire's Accumulate, but +2 to attack power instead of +1. Also they can't enter water.
A good guess...but, I don't think there is actually any point in the game where you must fight a sacred. The answer to this riddle fits all lines exactly. Try again!
Also, a squire must HELP the monster use their ability...hmm.....
Massive hint which I hope you don't read: (SPOILER)One of the two battles is optional.
OK, so it's a Monster Skill ability.
Yes...nice work there. And, my hint does make it pretty easy I think, but then again I probably should have included it in the original line...
Is it Triple Bracelet? You have to fight Hyrudras in the Lost Sacred Precincts and you can fight them in an optional battle at Nelveska Temple.
A good guess, but...can you find them in an area connecting a city and a hill?? Not to my knowledge. You are very close now, you'll probably get it with your next guess...
Goland Coal City spans between Lesalia and Grog Hill. Is it the Behemoth's Giga Flare?
Well, I was actually thinking Doguola Pass was between Bervenia and Grog, but Goland also works! Yes the answer is the behemoth, good work!
He contradicts his name
Engaged in villainy
Without hesitatation
Or squeamishness
is it Delita? or Dycedarg?Quote:

It's not Zalbag.
Squeamishness is when you are reluctant to do something because it disgusts you.
Sorry it's an example of what people call my million Dollar vocabulary. :greenie:
It's ok.Sounds like Malak but nah.
Not Malak.
Want a hint?
Curse i mean course.Everyone does
HintHis name is a real word.
HIS got it its a male.gee how smart i am :D
I need to think a bit :meditate: and investigate :holmes:
gah i dunno.. Beowulf is a real word... but as a name, not something you can use in real life.... wait.. is it.. "rod" lol?
It's not Beowulf or Rad (the generic male Squire in the opening battle).
Funeral?
Good guess, but it's not Funeral.
Could it be.. Cardinal?
Cloud?
Gaff Gafgarion?
perople already guessed gafgarion....
It's not Cardinal, Cloud, or Gaff Gafgarion.
Not for this riddle.Quote:

If I'm right, someone else can go. I'm in no state of mind to think up a clever riddle right now.
feion's right, the answer is Balk.
Past passado, you can go if you like.
OK then
Once a wizard now a monster
Once lived in a city now in a fogotten place
If you want my skills praying wont help
I hold a precious item
Can you take it from me?
making riddles sure is fun.:D Fogive me though.it's my first time
Elibdis?
:whoa: NO
Just kidding YES your turn.It was really easy right
I actually wasn't 100% sure of my answer. It was just the first thing that popped into mind.
Sorry I'm not good at thinking up riddles lately. My life has been lame so I don't have a good mindset... Someone else go.
But when I do think one up, I get to post it!!! K? Good!!
Feion, we'll wait for you. But if you take too long...well, let me just quote BG-57 here.

It's not the Bard's Sing skills though.
Is it the ability Wish?
How about the Steel Giant's skill set, 'Work'? The skills in that set require a self-sacrifice of h.p. to damage the enemy.
Wish is part of the answer.Quote:

I knew that. Even without Ultima, Guts is almost always the secondary on Ramza for me.
A powerful menace, he is
A boss who can't stand failure
from those working for and with him.
But his bad side, well,
you'll end up snoozing away
or on your way to dead.
Is it the Lucavi Queklain?
His human counterpart, Cardinal Draclau, offs his own incompetant underling and Queklain has a status ailment causing attack Nightmare, which causes (I believe) Sleep and Death Sentence.
Can't get anything past you, Beejtastic.
Heh. :D

No wait I'm the worst!(don't know)

I would be fraternal(don't know)
It's not the Mime, but you're right about it not being a character.
:mwahaha:So it is not a character hmm :plotting:
Hint please?
HintThe answer could refer to two different things.
Sounds like the 'twin' swords, Ragnarok and Nagrarok. Arguably the best and worst swords in the game.
I'm baaaack!:mwahaha:
It's not Ragnarok and Nagrarok, but you are very close.
I've foiled you again! :holmes:
That is dificult one:mad: Is the sword Escalibur?
The Javelin I and II?
Must be. Either that or Escutcheon and Escutcheon II. He did say there could be two answers. I believe you've got it leon.;)
You are correct leon-, the answer is Javelin! Both versions have exactly the same name, but one is the spear with the best offensive power and the other is the worst. They have different appearances, so they're like fraternal twins.Quote:

Okay. :greenie:
I tried this one time
An entire party out of range
But it was not to be
Even in my ignorance
Where was I?
Fort Zeakden, refering to golagros death? i duno no one seems to be guessing so i thought id just throw that out there. I have returned! :tonberry:
So is this a place or something else :plotting:?
My guess is Deep Dungeon (SPOILER)I know i suck at riddles
Welcome back Lich3636!
It's not Fort Zeakden or Deep Dungeon. It's a place though.
HintIgnorance refers to a skill.
Well...let me try guessing.
It's a place. And I think it's either one of these Two.
(SPOILER)
The first one, althought I don't think it is, is END.
Considering how in END you start at the bottom of the map, and your enemies frequently at the top. That's when de "Party ouf of reach" comes in.
In this one, "Ignorance" can be taken as "Ignore Height". Even thought you can just jump away happily to the top, there are black/blank spaces at the map between your party and that big, 15T cliff that doesn't allow you to do that.
Even thought it wasn't supposed to be, you can still Fly or Teleport and give a shot at your enemies.
My other one, and I think it's the one. LOST SACRED PRECINCTS.
That's another situation when your party and Balk's are far from each other, but they can still shoot the hell out of you, triple attack by the tiamats, etc.
In this one, "Ignorance" can be taken as "Ignore height" as the previous one. There are black/blank spaces between both parties, and you can only cross by Fly, Teleport, jumping where therea re only two blacks spaces, or fight your way down to the bridge, where the behemoth is passing by.
Woo-hoo.
It's not End or Lost Sacred Precincts, but you are right on the money with Ignore Height as the skill.
 Wow! youīre good! you said ignore height...mmm...itīs a location? Well, im going to said Murond Death City... but im think im wrong:rolleyes2 :p
Well BG-57...it's been some time...
Hey, let me refresh my memory. I'm pretty sure I can answer it.
But instead of just guessing by, I'll think it up more now.
I have three places in my mind. Maybe if they're not Blank spaces, It can be Bad Terrain in a panel, like a tree or a strange rock...
OOC: Purple Shot. Whoa, are you from Mexico? Great!
congratulations BG u have melted my mind, the only thing that comes to mind is the gate of lionel castle
It's not Murond Death City or the Gates of Lionel Castle.
The Amazing Spiderman, good to see you back.
Well, thank you!You noticed it! there are a less people that noticed about it:DQuote:

nope

ok
Hint: they come from the "distant land"
I was going to start guessing Titan or Cyclops, but then it occured to me that it could be a Proposition. And so it was:
Touzas Village is a village inhabited by tiny people that were freed by a giant named Atlas (who was also a Titan that carried the world on his shoulders). The name Touzas means 'distant land'.
you are correct sir. i was actualy looking for Liliputians (what the dwarves were called) but since you got the village theres no point in being anal about it, your go BG-57
Ha, thats these are the things that i never notice:trout:
