OOC: Sorry about the major lateness of this guys, I was being crushed mercilessly by my school work.
Phoenix and Kuchiki Byakuya faced off on a huge rotating stone platform in a sea of lava.
"Welcome to the first battle of the second round," Light said from above the battlefield. He was riding in a half-sphere with a smiling, clown-like face painted on it and a propeller spinning rapidly underneath it.
"Senkei: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi." Byakuya said as Phoenix began to float in the air, an aura of flames around her in the shape of a massive bird.
Four rows of pink swords spread out around the two combatants as the lights dimmed, the glow of the magma muted against the eerie glow of the blades.
The blades all turned on Phoenix and darted forward, streaming towards her in a swarm of pink light.
Phoenix's aura expanded with power as she made slashing gestures, breaking dozens of swords as they came and shattering them into flecks of steel.
Byakuya raised his hand, palm outstretched. As some of the blades began reassembling themselves, he singled a few out and slipped them under her flaming attacks.
Phoenix's flames wavered slightly as two swords punctured her body.
Almost instantly, her eyes blazed white as the swords disintegrated into metal flecks as they fell to the side.
The flames began expanding outward. Byakuya's eyes narrowed as the spiraling petals moved away and began to reform into blades around his body.
The flames focused into an intense stream and lunged at Byakuya. Around Byakuya the blades began whirling with greater speed as he attempted to deflect the flames away.
Phoenix's eyes burned hot with rage as the flames intensified. For a moment, Byakuya's blades held, but eventually they gave way, shattering as a wave of flame swept over him.
As the flames subsided, Byakuya appeared behind Phoenix, badly burned. As he stood there, the flecks of steel gathered around him, glowing white.
"Shuukei Hakuteiken!" he shouted as a white halo appeared around him and a sword formed in his hands.
Phoenix whirled as Byakuya shot forward, impaling her on his blade. Phoenix stood suspended in the air momentarily, gasping for air before her breathing turned to a scream of rage.
An explosion of fire burst forth from Phoenix, blasting Byakuya into the ground. When the flames cleared, Byakuya was laying unconscious and burned in a crater, his shihakusho, haori and scarf tattered and a few stray flecks of steel floated slowly to the ground.
"Phoenix is the winner," Light said.
