The show already has too many characters, so it makes sense not to develop this Dorne warrior guy since Dorne has mostly been an afterthought in the first place.

I'm interested to see what they do with the plot there. They've changed it, but what tooooo.
I actually enjoyed their Sansa changes. I mean the Ramsey thing sucked for her chracter and wow x.x, but I think her arch has had more of an impact and had me actually cheering at the screen when Brienne came in. So while I like the books, I understand the changes and am interested to see what they do with the dorne plotline.
In reply to MattIt would be interesting but I do doubt it. In the show Mance is dead as is Rattleshirt whom he was switched out with during the books battle for the wall. Rattleshirt had his head kicked in by Tormund Giantsbane at Hardholme and Mance burnt at Castle Black before Jon finished it with an arrow to the heart. Though in the books this is still a possibility, though a very slim one. Let's face it, even in the book it's all but revealed Jon is Azor Ahai.
In response to Areo Hotah's death. Yeah it was implicated that he was a bad ass who even the Sand Snakes and Ellaria feared (rightfully so). In my opinion, it was very fool hardy and out of character for him to ever turn his back on someone so dangerous as one of Oberyn's snakes. Literally in the books he would never have done something so foolish. Dorne in the books is a hugely nuanced introduction and will very clearly have a lot of very important actions concerning characters entirely written out of the show. As such, yes Dorne feels like an after thought and the result of that is it simply isn't important enough in the grand scheme of how the show is looking to tell the story. Unless to give them more content for Season 7, they plan on introducing some characters from the books as a surprise later this season the story arc is only necessary for one point and that is just it's introduction of Oberyn and his death at the hands of the Mountain. Since introducing characters from the books who are supposed to be in the company of Books spoilerTyrion Lannister is unlikely as he is now with Danerys and would make it difficult to see how these new characters tie in to the story without him. It's almost certain that this story arc is redundant.
I'll be sure not to mark my Arya and Sam spoilers in my next post then, since we know what happens to them :pQuote:
Let it go, book people. Your boat capsized and we picked you up on the way past, we're all stuck out at sea together now.
I really hope they don't drop the ball with the Greyjoy plotline like they have with Dorne.
I think with the Greyjoys they're going to merge Victarion's role into Yara. And randomly make her into a lesbian.
And instead of an eye patch she's just going to wear a bra with only one cup to represent her merging with Euron as well.
I doubt Areo Hotah is meant to get much significant development in the books either. He's a POV character, sure, but I think it's just an attempt to switch up the perspective so we're not constantly getting the story from the eyes of highborns and knights.
Finally decided on my Game of Thrones set!
I'm Jamie Lannister's hand.
In re-watching the trailer for the season, one event at the end caught my eye and led me to think that they might certainly be merging Dorne plotlines to very interesting conclusions:
(SPOILER)In the books, Quentyn Martell travels to Meereen to try and marry Dany only to meet an unfortunate end at the fire of her still chained up Dragons. Obviously, his character was not introduced at all on the show and from the looks of the trailer, Tyrion ends up going to find or check on the dragons who seem to breathe fire on somebody. Perhaps, they enflame Tyrion and instead of dying, he lives through it proving that he might in fact be a secret Targaryen?
Just a thought.
Take care all.
Hodor.
What'chu talkin'bout, Willis.
Snowbowl confirmed! Battle of the bastards! Ramsey is horrible but damnit Jon, go kill him! Go kill him so hard!
Also tyrion, go ride one of those dragons
I know we'll all be very excited about you know what, but there's even bigger news from this episode. Did you all see Eyes on's very own Steve?! Bragging about how Cersei totally wanted him and he would've so sent her a raven but then she was caught up in a religious repentance ritual? And then zombie Mountain had to smash his poor little head in :(
Also I am disappointed with what happened at Pyke. A chance to say "Euron the wrong bridge, brother!" was missed. :colbert:
And now I have to think of a new thread title THANKS A LOT MELISSANDRE :doublecolbert:
Good episode. Looking forward to the next one even more! Also, regarding the dragons - are they free now, or still holed up, just without the chains? I got a bit confused at that. They just went back into the darkness. I imagine there is another 'exit' they can use? Dunno.
