No one seems to be mentioning this little line here:
So, judging by this statement, one could infer that Ness is out.Quote:

Also Skyblade, I also liked using Pichu. His quick dodge roll and small size makes him really hard to hit. He also has the best taunt in the game (the one where he faces the right and taunts). They better add him in Brawl (preferrably with different moves like Charm). Otherwise, there'll be no playable Pokemon that'll represent the 2nd Generation.
Practically all of Snake's recent games are rated M though. You want Super Smash Bros. Brawl to be changed to a rated M game just like Halo? The Smash Bros. series low violence ratings is what makes them stand out from Halo. Even if Brawl most likely won’t be rated M because of Snake being in it there’s still that chance. And I know that swords and bats are realistic weapons but who uses those anymore? You won't see a serial killer or someone in a war fighting using those. Swords were weapons of the past which makes them unrealistic to use today. As for bats, they aren’t really meant to be used for weapons. Also, beam swords are just a science fiction weapon and the motion sensor mine is also too futuristic of a weapon even though they do exist in real life. Those weapons fit along with the science fictional feeling of the Starfox and F-Zero series (even if the F-Zero series has people barely using weapons). Machines guns on the other hand were and still are used here in the present which make them more realistic and less Nintendoish than those other weapons.Quote:

If everyone starts only using Sonic and Snake (which probably won’t happen but is still entirely possible) the game will lose its Nintendo feel which ruin what the Super Smash Bros. series is all about. The previous two Smash Bros. games were solely Nintendo and their other companies that help them make their games (Game Freak, HAL, APE, etc.) and that shouldn’t have changed for the third one.Quote:

The best way to ensure that people will not be using 3rd party characters all the time is to remove them. It doesn’t have much of a chance of happening but if it does they might as well let Konami or Sega be in charge of making Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I know it sucks but unless there’s some other way to prevent that there’s nothing else that can be done to ensure that the Smash Bros. series stays mostly Nintendo.
I completely disagree with every argument you made.
Firstly, the weapons you listed as not really violent, are far more violent. Kill someone with a gun, it's possible with 1 bullet, in the heart, and you barely see anything. Kill someone with a baseball bat, well, it's pretty brutal. Simply enough, Snake will fit in fine to the game, you already know his special moves, and they're no more violent than any of the already usable items.
People will not be using these characters exclusively, unless Nintendo accidentally balanced them to be the best. I personally use every character except the big slow ones, so I'll be using them sometimes. But the simple fact is, the majority of competitive players will use whatever character is best, regardless. The other casual players, will play with the ones they know.
and uhm, I'm sure there are more people that will refuse to use Snake or Sonic, than will only play with them.
Saying some people will only use them is an absurd argument. Some people only use Link, cause they think he's cooler. Some only use female characters just because. Some only use Mario because he is Nintendo. Some only use Fox, because he was the best in Melee, by most people's standards. Some only use Pikachu, because they love pokemon. etc.
it is far far more likely most people will start out using fox, than any other character.

Evastio, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree with your conclusions.
First, I doubt that the introduction of Snake will have any negative aspect on the game. His owners begged Nintendo to let him in, knowing full well what sort of game SSB was, and Nintendo accepted, knowing exactly what sort of character Snake is. They would not have done that if they felt that it would cause a shift in the game's focus away from the feel that has made it beloved by fans around the world. Look at the conversations between Snake and his team that were made for the game. Clearly, they're working to bring out a lighter side and fit him in as much as possible, and I think they have done an incredible job of it.
Second, I disagree. The original idea of SSB was to give the Nintendo All Stars a chance to let loose on each other, but that was not the primary draw of the game. It was gamers getting the opportunity to play their favorite characters from so many different series all together in a light, fun environment. People won't work with Snake or Sonic just because they are third party characters. They will work with them because they are characters that they have known and loved through years of gaming, just like all the rest of the SSB crew. There are plenty of people who will never abandon Link, Captain Falcon, Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Ice Climbers, or Kirby (that's me!) for the same reason. The game is about more than Nintendo, it's about all the best characters in gaming being thrown together to have fun. Nintendo will always be the driving soul behind SSB, and they'll ensure that the quality and feel of the game remains what has caused it to reach to gamers from every genre, every age group. Adding more characters from more sources will only give more gamers the opportunity to pick up their favorites and just have fun with them. Bring them in, and let them fight it out!

I guess you do have some valid points there Skyblade. Although you have to admit that Zero Suit Samus conversation was a little inappropriate. But I guess I could think of Snake’s conversations like audial character descriptions kind of like how trophys have character descriptions. I’m just hoping that the remainder of Snake’s moves that haven’t been shown aren’t too violent (they did say that his smash attacks are going to be different compared to other characters).
As for people using 3rd party characters all the time I know that it has a very slim chance of happening. I’m just worried about having it happen. But I guess you’re right about most people not abandoning their favourites (I know I won’t be abandoning the Ice Climbers, Mario, Bowser, Yoshi, Marth, Luigi, Falco, and Pichu if they still stay in Brawl). It’s going to be a little sad for the people that do though.
I guess I'm a little more okay about having them in (I'm still not completely okay with it yet though).
So what if they use third party characters all the time? That just means they enjoy using those characters and have more fun with them them the others.
His smash attacks use heavy weaponry. That doesn't make them any more violent than, for example, Samus's special abilities. He just adds them to his Smash attacks to give them a little more power. I kind of like the idea, as it makes me wonder if he might have fairly weak punch/kick normal attacks, but make up for it with heavy weaponry based smash attacks.
But don't worry. I'm sure the first time that Sonic gets sent out of the arena by a Home-Run Bat, or Snake gets swallowed and we see commando Kirby, you'll find that everything is right with the world.

Looks BRILLIANT!
see they're fun sometimes yes, but half the time people stop fighting, and just worry about the stage killing them. I already know I'm going to create a giant box for one of my maps, and that's it, walls, ceiling, everything. Completely pound on everyone box
