Hmm..going by the room and the chaos mention...possibly Vincent? (Never hurts to guess. XD)

My first ideas were also of Vincent, then I thought of Lucrecia, but she never leaves the room with you, so then I went back Vincent. So, my answer is Vincent.

The answers lie in the world somehwere (Nibelheim)
Hidden from all but my eyes (only Cloud and Tifa remember this)

yeah...my answer is gonna be Tifa's memories in Cloud's mind, when you fall into the lifestream in Mideel.

Hehe, nah I'm alive, just thinking harder before guessing. The first two lines in this sound important to me but I can't seem to fit them with anything.

ok i'll reveal the riddle now.

Around and around, (Cloud swings his sword around)
up and down, (Barret thrusts his hand up, then brings it back down)
back and forth, (Tifa stretches with her hands)
over your heart. (Aeris puts her hand over her heart)
Across a sharp edge, (Red XIII scratches himself)
bouncing and jumping, (Yuffie jumps and twirls (This is what zacks_clone got right :D))
jumping and jumping, (Cait Sith's cat jumps up and down))
twirling and stopping, (Vincent twirls his gun and places it in its holster)
with a bright fire that gives you life (and takes it away). (Cid smokes :D)

Bugger! That's what I was thinking but I couldn't figure out how smoking gives you life or the across the sharp edge bit (I thought the twirling and stopping part was yuffie).
