The reason for her falling apart is simple.
Being pretty and famous meant that people fell all over themselves to suck up and do things for her instead of telling her any of the ugly truths everyone needs to know or giving her a kick in the butt when she needed it.
She never had to develop the wisdom and coping skills needed to have a long term relationship or take care of a baby.

I think she's been driven crazy by the paparazzi.
