Lowered standards-- the same reason artists such as Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and pretty much everything you see on MTV these days are considered 'music' by the masses. That's the majority.
Oh, and auto-tune.

Where's my Michael Vick auto-tune?
How many times have you seen this black-and-white sticker that reads "Parental Advisory: Explicit Content"? It means that this music ONLY FOR ADULTS. They should also state "listener discretion is advised" like they do on TV shows with darkly "mature" content in them.
Back in the day, musicians made music that was family-friendly, suitable for all ages, young, old, and everyone in between. But today, musicians make music aimed largely at the middle age (20s-40s), ignoring young children and elderly senior citizens. I've talked to tons of senior citizens time and time again who tell me that today's music is trash, and I agree with them! True quality music was made back in the 1900s, but today, in the early 21st century, most music is just grime, raunch, and trash. Enough is enough!
If people have been tough on video game content from the very beginning, why not the same for music content?!
Well then it's a good thing opinions still exist, and it's also a good thing that music "made back in the 1900s" still exists, so you and all the elderly folk of the world can listen to that instead of finding a modern sound that suits you, isn't it?
Plenty of times. I have many albums with Parental Advisory stickers on them.
I bet that it was just as prevalent back then, just underground and out of sight/out of mind for the easily offended masses.Quote:

As for the elderly taste in music:

Because the music industry can possibly see how stupid the censorship and ratings of video games are? ...nah, they still allow talentless musicians to exist, too.Quote:

Well, I think that if blood, gore, and nudity made controversy in video game content, then why doesn't profanity make controversy in musical content?!
Because you can't show blood, gore, and nudity in music.
Because there is more substance to an argument about simulated killing and spraying body parts on the wall than an argument about hearing a curse word in a song. Like seriously, take a step back and look at what you're taking offense to.
I have nothing personal against any of you who like trashy music, and I don't hate any of you for liking it; I'm just saying that perhaps the music industry should make a separate section for explicit music and request ID from listeners who want to buy those products. The rule is commonplace in Australia; you must show ID that confirms that you are at least 15 years old in order to buy music with explicit content.
alright fine dude, it's your opinion, you're allowed to have it. i'm gonna stay on topic and post another mashup, but if you are offended by profanity don't click it. k?
Jamglue - Everday Struggle/ Notorious BIG Jay-Z DJ Chuck Boogie Remix
Thanks, ITRP, for acknowledging that I have nothing against you personally, and for warning me about the most recent mashup that you just posted. Perhaps I'll make another topic about this discussion/debate over cenorship of music and get back to the original topic here. I'll try to go find some more oddball mashups soon.
And Momiji, that's not strict enough. You should be required to show ID.
Why?
Like one of these?
