When does one become an oldbie?

For being considered a "newbie," I think behavior is the most important thing. If someone's only been a member for a month, but can type well and isn't an idiot, I won't ever think of them as a newbie, whereas someone who's been a member several times as long, but still acts like a stereotypical n00b, gets to keep the label.

As for oldbies....I'd say at least two years, and, again, behavior counts a lot. Someone with a distinctive personality and intelligence. :D

One can't just claim to be an oldbie. You have to be recognized as one. If you're recognized as an oldbie, then albeit, you're an oldbie. IF you consider yourself a newbie, no way in chance can you be an oldbie. :p

I don't agree with the first part. What other people say don't matter.

But then, "oldbie" and "newbie" are relative terms(old/new compared to what?), so are unequivocably pointless.

I remember back in #mh, we used to marvel at how one member wasn't ever a newbie at all, and we were trying to figure out when she joined because it was like she had been there all along @_@.

but that was a long time ago on intarwebz servers far far away.

you can't become an oldbie until you are so jaded that you stop even bothering to post.
