Something real can still be legendary. Legendary doesn't just mean mythical, it can also mean great. I couldn't possibly choose my favourite legendary monster/animal there are just too many great ones to choose from.

I am totally in love with the Sphinx. The Egyptian one, of course though he's sort of historical and not...mythological. Though the Greek version gets props too for being scary.

But the Sphinx is my friend.
