Personally, I call them either sandals or flip-flops.
My Grandad, on the other hand, calls them flap jacks.
Sandles or Flip flops. Personally, I can't stand them. I <3 socks, THEY WERE MADE FOR SOMETHING.
A sandal is like what the Roman's used to wear, a flap jack is some sort of pancake and a flip flop is a part of the male anatomy.
Jandals are the key. Jandals are the world. Jandals are the RIGHT way to pronounce this type of footwear ;)
VOTE JANDALS You know they'd do the same for you
1) I have no idea wtf a Jandal is.
2) I've always thought a Sandal was a type of flip-flop that had support around the back of your foot too.

3) Here in Australia, we call flip-flops Thongs too.
Judas wore sandals.
JANDLES!!!
Well they call them flip-flops in the US.
And jandals were really invented in Japan, not NZ like we say they are. Kiwi's "can't handle the jandal".
I see "jandals" a lot in Auckland.
I've never used or heard the word jandals before. We say sandals. But those things in the picture are flip flops.
And I agree on the word flip flops being cooler 'cause it's the noise they make.
They are thongs, nothing else. Its not funny, because we call your thongs g-strings. Thongs go on your feet. although I have met a few confused people who put g-strings on their feet.Quote:
