uhhhhhh Americans dont exactly "take" the language. America started from English people, so English is the native language. And, In my four years of living here, I've never heard anyone say they speak "American"

I spell it colour. It doesn't look right without the u. An it doesn't look right without the u, because its not right without the u.

ya i spell it color-it seems like colour would be pronounced ko-loor

i think color is much better. you don't say col-hour... you say col-or...

or really cuh-lore, but disregard the semantics.
