Clever, very clever!
I was right? Arf bark wargbargle!
I am big, red and am clearly the superior ruler of the sea.
Failure is the only way to achieve my perfect greatness.
What in the damn hell am I?
You're the goddamn red submarine that you get for losing the first submarine battle.
And that awesome Red Submarine got me a 5/5 on the next days quiz* in school! Just ask Sephex.
*your results may vary
Wait does that mean I was right? It's hard to tell.
This is not naughts and crosses
You have to be many times braver
Use me if you want to slow things down a little
Cross-Slash, because you have to use Braver a bunch of times, and it paralyzes the enemy?
Yes. Damn you're good.
these riddles make me feel more stupid every day :(
i never can figure them out
Here's my riddle...
In a place filled with life,
Death wraps itself around your finger.
And now that you have lost the ultimate strife,
It may be best not to linger.
The lifestream? Cloud finding himself?
Nope
This is probably WAY off, but the Sunken Gelnika?
Nope, but you were right, it is pretty far off :D
The collapse of the plate in Midgar?
Nope
Aeris' garden in the sector 5 church slum.
Clearly the answer is the northern crater when you lose cloud to the madness and weapon wakes up. You had to get out ASAP bitches!
I wanna say midgar.
No to all.
Mideel - where cloud fights in his subconscious.
city of the ancients?
The Shinra Mansion where Hojo was doing all of those experiments breeding life. That is where Cloud lost himself and they best not linger in his creation laboratory.
CLEARLY THE ANSWER IS THE CHOCOBO FARM.
Clearly the answer is the @#$& Room in Honey Bee Inn.
Jiro, that guess disturbs me to no end, and tells me a lot about you that I really didn't want to know...
Jiro, I laughed at that answer to no end, and now I wish I had thought of it.
It makes a creepy amount of sense if you think about it!
No to all. I'll give a hint, now.
Hint: The third and fourth lines both have more than 1 meaning, which either directly or indirectly tie to the answer. Line 1 is indirect, and line 2 is direct.
Repost:
In a place filled with life,
Death wraps itself around your finger.
And now that you have lost the ultimate strife,
It may be best not to linger.
Right, let's have a proper think...
In a place filled with life
That could literally refer to any place in the game inhabited by people or monsters. That's probably why it's an indirect line. Or maybe it relates to the Lifestream.
Death wraps itself around your finger,
Something that is wrapped around your finger indicates that you have control over it. If it's a direct line then the place in question would have death as it's main theme. Maybe somewhere like the Cave of the Gi where the creatures can cast 'Death'. But once you've defeated Gi Nattak, there's no reason not to linger. Hmmm... doesn't seem right, somehow. Death is a theme in the Crater also.
And now that you have lost the ultimate strife,
You would assume that the double meaning would refer to 'ultimate' and 'strife'. Ultimate could refer to Weapon or even Cloud's ultimate weapon. Strife seems to refer directly to Cloud. But what is lost? The only things that spring to mind are losing Cloud at the Crater or Mideel... or maybe Cloud's 'ultimate strife' is losing Aeris at the City of the Ancients?
It may be best not to linger,
Obviously there is some sort of impending doom... The main times it would be unwise to linger are the destroying of mideel and the awakening of the Weapons.
This might have already been suggested but the only thing that really fits for me is when the Weapons awaken and the team don't linger... they leg it in the Highwind. However, Cloud is 'lost' to the team when he falls into the 'life' stream. That's my guess.
I can't quite link the 'Death wrapped around your finger' theme though so it's probably not right.
No to all.
Hint2: The second line is probably the most important in finding the answer.
Mideel is the location of this riddle. Before the destruction due to the Ultimate Weapon. This riddle is talking about the cursed ring you can obtain in the town or by stealing from the Ultimate Weapon, who runs away from battle, hence not lingering. Also, Cloud is not in your party when all this goes down. Losing the Ultimate Strife. I think I got it.
Sephex got it!
In a place filled with life,
Mideel. That's pretty much it XD
Death wraps itself around your finger.
A ring goes around your finger, and the cursed ring gives death sentence
And now that you have lost the ultimate strife,
This alludes to quite a few things. You lose Cloud Strife, you kinda lose the battle with the ultimate WEAPON, and the cursed ring kills you.
It may be best not to linger.
The WEAPON escaped, Mideel was destroyed, and you have death sentence.
Sephex is up :D
I thought that as well because of the cursed ring but it doesn't make sense. You don't lose Cloud in Mideel, that is where you find Cloud and at that you find the real Cloud in the Life Stream so at that point you still have yet to obtain the ultimate strife(assuming this is the correct interpretation of this clue).
Therefore I submit that the true answer is the Rocket Blasting into Meteor.
You leave the planet (a place full of life).
Death is slowly wrapping itself around your finger as a sign of your commitment to die (suicide rocket! YYYYEEEAAAAAA!)
It was a pretty bitching conflict and it didn't work (losing the ultimate strife)
You need to get the hell off this rocket ASAP as you don't want to die. QUICK! FIND A WAY OUT!
I still say my answer of the Northern Crater before weapon awakens makes perfect sense.
Your welcome for the assist Sephex!
Okay, my riddle...hmmmmm...
Mako on one side.
Earth on the other.
This is close to the place.
Where he met his mother.
Nibelhiem, would be the place and Sephiroth would have met his "mother" Jenova. Mako on one side, that could be because his blood is likely Mako. Earth on the other, likely his human heritage. How far off am I?
Kind of close. I'll just say you are thinking in the right direction...kinda.
Is the the Northern Crater?
Nope. Shinwa Tsuki guess on location is much, much closer.
I can't ever recall Sephiroth ever meeting Lucrecia...so everything about him is out the window.
MOVING ALONG! I shall venture a guess that it is the cave where you get HP <> MP as it is close...ish to the place where he THINKS he meets his mother (what a screwed up man) and it is surrounded by earth while it takes an incredible ammount of MAKO to make those special materias.
Nope. When I said Shinwa Tsuki was close I meant that he was right about it being in the Nibelheim region.
The mako fountain found in the Nibliheim mountain?
OR MAYBE IT IS JUST THE MOUTAIN!
The location in within the Nibliheim mountains. You're going to punch me when you get it.
Just going to say it's where they found the uh mako fountain thing.
It's where a FMV took place.
The reactor in the Nibelhelm Mountains?
Either that or the bridge they cross to get to the reactor.
Inside the Jenova room seems too close to be "near where he met his mother"
Dude are you okay? You sound... insane.
I don't know if it's actually funny or your enthusiasm is really funny but I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face. That was a sweet riddle though man!
Yeah, I liked that riddle as well. Good job, Sephex! You do sound a tad insane though!
I'm just watching the mighty Manchester United then I'll post my riddle.
EDIT: Right, here we go...
A punch can be the ultimate tool, but
You'll still get bossed and look like a fool
A soft, gentle breath or detonated bomb
Take it to the max and all foes are gone
Bubba... Is the answer related to Tifa?
Nope
L4 Limit Breaks in general?
Nope
I think it refers to specific L4 Limits. I think Yuffie's and Barret's, but I can't be sure.
Closer
Lines 1 and 2 seem to point to hammerblow, so is it Barret's limits?
Hammerblow is indeed the correct answer. Good job, LoM!
A punch can be the ultimate tool, but
This limit is in essence a punch and a hammer is the ultimate 'tool'
You'll still get bossed and look like a fool
As the limit doesn't cause any actual damage it is pointless using it on a boss
A soft, gentle breath or detonated bomb
Both of these clues refer to the last syllable of the answer 'blow'. I was going to use a fellatio reference but I thought I'd keep this thread clean....
Take it to the max and all foes are gone
Max/Limit - This particular limit removes enemies entirely from the battle
Leader of Mortals... the floor is yours
Excellent riddle Bubba!
Crap, I was on the wrong page when I replied. Nice jerb!
Ah, I actually thought that bomb was satellite bomb, and max alluded to Ungarmax. Good riddle :D
I was so loyal, but you shed no tear
As you took off and flew away.
I protected you from your enemy, here,
But I am forever forgotten today.
That would be Rufus' pet, Dark Nation.
Damn, you're good XD
I was expecting someone to say Seto, actually, but it was Dark Nation!
Sephex is up.
A Mako heart,
now isn't that smart?
You can "find" me
in the room which appears to contain a yellow C.
is it that one room in honey bee inn?
Nope.
This strickes me as a similar to one of BG's other riddles..... Uh, would the answer relate to a room in Midgar?
Absolutely.
is it the thing you have to time when you press the button correctly
Not that.
The room in Midgar where you get the Master Fist later in the game, with the shop in it. The desk makes a C.
Edit: Wait, isn't there a TV in that room that talks about a vehicle with a Mako engine? Is that it?
The universe cries tears of destruction
from the death of a loved one.
Find the tears near the place of rest.
It's too easy, I can't think of anything better XD
that lake-thingy where cloud leaves Aeris's body
Nope
I'm going to guess the Lifestream in general.
Nope.
The Crying Seto statue?
Hmmm... BG-57 may have it there.
Nope
Can we get a hint? Or is that too soon?
Hint: The answer is the tears of destruction.
Materia.
White materia?
Black Materia.
Orange materia?
Okay, Bubba.... I feel like you are just randomly guessing now. There is no orange colored materia in the game itself. Correct me if I am wrong though.
None are correct so far, but you guys are getting closer.
Holy or Meteor?
Comet
i thought you said it was an easy one?
u gave me false hope >: (
Ding ding ding!
The universe cries tears of destruction
This is comet.
from the death of a loved one.
You find it right before Aeris dies
Find the tears near the place of rest.
The materia is found very near Aeris's spot of death/place of rest
edczxcvbnm, your turn!
.. atleast i was close
I thought it might be comet but then I thought "Nah...that is too abstract. Tears of Destruction couldn't mean comet 2...could it?" then everyone started guess materia so I threw my hat in the ring. I did not decipher anything else at all.
Time for one of my super awesome riddles of awesomesaucyness! For this one I take some inspiration from a totally uninspired rock group...RATT! HELLS YEAH!
Round and round
What comes around goes around
Give it time
Hint: knowing the song will help you out for nothing...even more so considering I changed the final line =D
those boulders at that cave, dunno the name.
but they have an opening where you have to wait and let it role over you
The clock in the temple of the ancients?
The last line referencing time makes me think exactly the same.
I think so, too, but just so we can have another guess: The short track for Chocobo Races?
Something makes me think that the answer relates to materia...... Just tossing it out there.
ed...I...I am not worthy!
Who is this demanding god
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
Shall I conform to him,
Or shall I be forever weaker?
Not sure how difficult this one will be.
Godo? Yuffie's Dad?
Nope.
Vincent's L4 Limit Chaos
I'm going to guess Levaithan as the god.
None are correct so far, and I see the need for a hint.
Hint: Line 1 really doesn't have any meaning in the answer, it's only there to link to line 2.
Is it Jenova/Sephiroth/that whole reunion concept? They were all kind of sacraficing themselves to get to reunion and Sephiroth/Jenova was mercilessly killing them towards the end.
Nope
Who is this demanding god
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
Could this sacrifice be related a status effect? I'm thinking, sacrificing health for something else.
Shall I conform to him,
Who is him? I'm going to guess that it is the wielder, and the one speaking is an item.
Or shall I be forever weaker?
Sounds like the answer is something to do with physical strength or emotional strength.
I'm going to guess Cursed Ring (or whatever it is called).
Nope
Clearly the answer is Hades Materia!
Swing and a miss XD
Demanding god who rewards sacrifice. GAH IT'S ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE :(
After a couple more guesses, I'll give another hint
Who is this demanding god
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
Shall I conform to him,
Or shall I be forever weaker?
The second line makes me think of obtaining the Black Materia from the Temple of the Ancients. Where you are required to give up your life in order to receive it.
The last line kind of reminds me of Cait Sith where he's questioning his worth to the team as he was spy for Shinra all along.
I'm going to guess Cait Sith's death and the obtaining of the Black Materia at the Temple of the Ancients?
Nope
I'll give the hint now
Hint2: The answer is not the god. Also, an important word is "rewards", however the answer is also not the reward.
Jenova Cells?
Is it summons in general? They're typically gods and the materia has a crapload of negative impacts on your stats iirc.
Nope to both
air etam
So...what is the answer because no one is guessing anymore.
I'll settle for some more hints.
It's not the air etam, and I'll give another hint.
Hint3: The answer is the method of sacrifice.
Is it equipping the 'special' weapons with no materia growth but high str? Like nailbat etc
Nope. You're thinking of sacrifice in a wrong way, with that answer.
I'm going to toss this out there, could the answer be W-Item?
...Master materia?
CLEARLY THE ANSWER IS THE CHOCOBO FARM.
No to all
Is it Cheetos? It's Cheetos isn't it? There can be no question! IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN GUESSED.
Uh, Tigmafuzz.... I hope you're kidding. I'm going to guess that the answer has something to do with materia in general. After all, the more materia you use the more negative effects you have on the character in question.
Bugenhagen! That due is a monster that you don't smurf with. Left unchecked he could swallow a monster.
How about a hint that has nothing to do with the lines of your riddle?
Is it something to do with Final Fantasy VII?
OBVIOUSLY IT'S AERIS' DEATH AND THE WHITE MATERIA
Who is this demanding god
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
Shall I conform to him,
Or shall I be forever weaker?
Is it something to do with the guy in Kalm who gives you stuff?
Serious answer now.
Is it Zack?
No to all.
Hint, as edczxcvbnm requested...
Hint4: The answer is something done in battle.
Mimic?
OH trout!! I can't believe it. You smurfing didn't give a hint. Seriously? When else in the game could you possibly sacrifice and get a reward or whatever.
The answer at this point is obviously the Coin command. You sacrifice money to win the battle. The god in the riddle is Gamblor and you smit his neon clutches!
smurf I'm drunk!
Who is this demanding God
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
Shall I conform to him,
Or shall I be forever weaker?
Hint 1 - Line 1 doesn't really have any meaning in the answer, it's only there to link to line 2
Hint 2 - the answer is not the God. Also, an important word is "rewards", however the answer is also not the reward
Hint 3 - the answer is the method of sacrifice
Hint 4 - it is something done in battle
Is there something like Darkside from VIII? Some kind of move that sacrifices health?
Is it killing off two of your characters before facing Ruby Weapon cause otherwise he'd use Whirlsand and completely remove two party members from your party, thus making you "forever weaker"?
Cover materia?
No to all
Hint5: You are not losing anything of yours in the sacrifice, but you are gaining the rewards.
Long Range materia.
Aeris dying, therefore getting rid of the most annoying and useless character in the game?
Lol, but really...all those hours spent at the Golden Saucer to get crap?
MP-HP switching materia?
No to all
Goddammit. Hint?
Maybe it is the Manipulate command?
My other line of thought lead me to Cait Sith's random limit break where you auto kill all the enemies.
Probably wrong again, though.
Obtaining enemy skills?
I wonder if it is when two characters are KO and that lets you use something..... Like a hidden ability for a weapon that is only possible for the 'wielder' if the other two companions are Knocked Out. ...am I on the right path?
No to all
Hint6: "Conform" makes a bad pun
MIMIC
Nope
I don't think this riddle has an answer.
The answer could be suicide...
It does have an answer, and it is not suicide. Suicide is never the answer. :colbert:
Is it those items that increase your stats? (strength, luck, etc)
It is not a Source, but...
Hint7: A Source is an example of the Reward.
I vote you just tell us.
Seconded.
Sorry LoM, but your hints are crap...
No to all :colbert:
Didn't mean to offend LoM but we're all really struggling with this.
On the plus side, your last post was number 'all lucky sevens!'
Is that the answer?
Wait wait. W-Item duplication bug?
If you are not going to tell us then I am going to just make a new riddle, ignore your answers so this disaster doesn't happen again and move on/forget this whole riddle.
It's pretty obvious the answer is Morph.
This is obviously it:
Who is this demanding God
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice? - this refers to the fact that you can morph monsters in the sunken gelinka, you lose exp (I think) but you get various sources as a reward.
Shall I conform to him, - when you use Morph combined with Yuffies Conformer, it attacks with full power.
Or shall I be forever weaker? - any other weapon you use to morph is reduced power.
On a side note you guys are very poor sports, if you don't know the answer then don't post a reply, telling someone their riddles suck is kind of insulting, and demanding to make a new riddle is childish.
I personally love riddles that are hard to get, it makes it all the more satisfying when they are gotten, do you guys not remember that riddle BG57 did about the steam you see in the reactor? and you guys are moaning about this? Very poorly done.
Yes, the answer was Morph!
Who is this demanding God
Who rewards our unrealistic sacrifice?
This basically asks the question "Who gives us the items for killing the monsters in an odd way?" I related the command to a person sacrificing to a god, and the whole thing really is quite unrealistic.
Shall I conform to him,
Or shall I be forever weaker?
This kinda has 2 meanings. The first is the fact that using anything but Conformer makes the morph attack really weak, and the second meaning is asking "Should I morph these monsters, or should I not morph them and be out sources and other items?"
Crop, your turn!
Someone else take my turn please.
Also, nice riddle, I love the challenging ones. If you go again, I think give maybe one less hint. The hint about the sources sealed the deal for me.
I don't want the turn, either. Someone take it, please.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, KaiserDragon. :)
High as you can go
An expansive vista
That you cannot see
Mertons behind you
Great... BG made it now we're never going to get it
I do generally give hints upon request and I don't gloat about making hard riddles, so I hope I'm not some kind of riddle bugbear or anything.
I just remember when I first joined this site you had a riddle that lasted a billion pages xD
An actual guess too: Is it maxing out a gold chocobo's stamina. That costs a lot of money to get the right chocobo's to breed and feed them and race them and so on.
YW ^^
High as you can go - This makes me think the Highwind for some reason
An expansive vista - Pretty simple, on the Highwind you have a high up view and as such an expansive vista
That you cannot see - This puts me in mind of the WEAPON that attacks Midgar (blowing up the Prez), since he is so huge he blocks out the vista
Mertons behind you - This makes me think of the Sister Ray, not only cause it destroys the barrier over the North Cave, but because WEAPONS incoming attack also blows up the Shinra HQ.
So my answer is the FMV where the Sister Ray destroys the barrier over the North Cave.
OOC: I remember someone getting a riddle BG made on the first guess, I even commented on that fact at the time.
Thanks for the vote of confidence,Quote:

OMG I read expensive not expansive xD I'm so derp today......
Could it be the cave way up top the mountain at Wu-Tai? The one with the fire in side of it?
Its not the Da-Chao.
Somehow, I feel like Merton is the key to this riddle, and I can't think of a Merton in FF7, but it seems familiar to me :I
Now, when you say it's not Da-Chao, do you mean that it has nothing to do with Da-Chao?
My guess is climbing up the wire to go to the headquarters.
High as you can go
It's pretty high up, yo
An expansive vista
That you cannot see
The way the camera is pointed, you can't see behind you, which would show a large expanse of land, or the town, or whatever.
Mertons behind you
Umm, there is someone named Merton in the Wall Market? XD
Junon Harbor (and especially the lower parts where you save Priscilla)
High as you can go
Is high.
An expansive vista
That you cannot see
You don't get to see Rufus' parade, I guess. OR, how the people in Junon Harbor bitch because the water's all mucked up because of the cannon or whatever.
Mertons behind you
Tons of MERpeople, cos you climb up and leave the oceans (and Mr. Dolphin) down below.
Wait, Merton is a mistranslation of Meltdown from FF6, right? Assuming this, Meltdown could possibly be referring to a reactor being blown up. I happen to remember, in the area after you blow up the first reactor, right before Cloud has to battle the bunch of MPs by himself, there is a railing in the foreground, and the camera is placed in such a way that you can't see beyond the railing. From what I remember, it's pretty high up in the air, and that would mean that there is a big sight beyond the railing, which you can't see?
I say that area which probably has a name that I can't remember, with fire spewing in from the doorway that you got out of the first reactor from.
Chocobo. Farm.
Okay seriously, I am going to say that the answer is the plate pillar in the Sector 7 slums.
It's high as you can go, and I guess in a way it is an expansive vista that you can not unsee. I also think Merton refers to Meltdown, or explosions. So the explosions behind us refers to the parties daring escape when the pillar started to explode and collapse behind them.
I just want to say that everybody's "your hints are crap" after lom said "sources are the reward" is stupid. IT MADE IT SO PAINFULLY OBVIOUS THAT I WANTED TO STAB OUT MY EYEBALLS FOR NOT SEEING IT EARLIER. lom you're a champion.
As for the current riddle.. I got nuthin' :greenie:
