Speaking of crowd noises, the thing I love about the World Cup is that different countries make different noises. Like, in England what I'm used to is "YEAAAAAAAAAAH!" when a goal goes in. For South America it's like "owwwaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Very controversial disallowed goal there. What do the EoFF pundits think?

The problem is that you can dominate possession the entire game, it only takes one well-constructed counter-attack for NED to just rip you apart and win the game. Yeah, there was a great slow-mo shot of Robben's face in despair when it looked like it was all over for the Dutch near the end there. It just sucks that he got exactly what he wanted. He completely baited Marquez into just barely sticking his toe out in front, ran with it (i.e. flailing like a fish having a seizure), and got the call he wanted. Poor Marquez, the ol' boy stepped right into his disgusting trap.

The one small victory I take from this Belgium side is that all the weapons hyping them up hadn't even heard of Origi, who has proved to be their best player. I tell a lie, I'm also enjoying that the vastly overrated Januzaj, after all that hoo hah over his international future and half the countries of Europe wooing him, has barely featured.
How haven't Belgium scored yet? Howard has had about 7 amazing saves so far it's incredible! I just hope he can hold out!

I thought it was 15? It was 16? Not that it's much better, that's still amazing. What a great goalie. No one can say now that they USA team sucks. They played amazingly. Belgium is a hard team.
Tim Howard played amazingly; the rest of the team just kinda watched him. 16 saves is incredible, but it also means the rest of the team put him in a position to have to make 16 saves. The US didn't really play all that great outside of the first 20 minutes from what I saw. They allowed approximately 8 million corner kicks and roughly 20 thousand shots on goal, and there were times where Belgium dominated possession. Still, they hung in there very well, and gave themselves a shot to win. Can't ask for much more from a big underdog.
I felt like the US REALLY started to pick it up in the last 20 minutes. Shame it took 'em so long though.

There's Pirlo, Kroos, Messi, Pogba and Sanchez. All these wonderful players you don't get to normally see. And indeed old friends like Ronaldo and Robben, and even older friends like Cahill and Drogba. I use the word friends lightly. Very lightly. But they're top smurfing players. Oh it's terrific.

It depends on who you watch. When I watched Liverpool those first five matches, it was like watching international matches for me. The vast majority of the international matches I've seen have resulted in me falling asleep or forgetting the match was on and doing something else. I'm not even kidding! The best matches I've seen tend to be CL matches, followed by PL matches. I think following Manchester United has helped in that regard, obviously. But yeah, I've seen a chunk of World Cup matches and they do tend to be far, far better than other internationals, but I still think CL matches are better.Quote:

Fell asleep last night watching Netherlands vs Costa Rica, I don't know what it is about internationals that does it to me but they just get me so sleepy. :(
Actually it's probably the commentators. 90% of the club games I watch are on Sky. BBC and ITV have the most boring commentators in the world.
EDIT: Also, has any team really been standout in this competition? Usually there's always one or two sides who seemed destined for the final but in this Cup I'm not so sure.

I'm not keen on either of them to go through to be honest. I suppose I would side with Germany if I had to. I still gonna be in work until the second half kicks off anyway so I won't see any of it. Much more excited for the Holland v Argentina game tomorrow.
