It's not Darkness.
Wow... Umm.... Water?
BG, you may have noticed that I don't post much anymore.
Heh, I have no idea.
It's not Water.
Any particular reason feion?
im pretty sure i know this, the only part thats giveing me trouble is the bad play everyone hates part. can i get a hint?
HintLook at my avatar for one of the answers.
Kindreds of the same element: fire
A backwards and barbaric weapon. flame whip
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes. ifrit
A truly bad play that everyone hates. self destruct
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Close.
hell fire
Well, if the last line it isnt hell fire, i think its asura(or i dont remember the hell name of that magic from Rafa!)from Rafa:plotting:
Im back!:kaoplain: i been out for a while:kaosleep: , but im ready for post!:kaoyatta:
Not Hell Fire or Asura.
To recap:
Kindreds of the same element (Fire)
A backwards and barbaric weapon
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes (Ifrit)
A truly bad play that everyone hates (Not Self-Destruct, but closely related)
flame rod
Kindreds of the same element: Fire
A backwards and barbaric weapon: Flame Rod
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes: Ifrit
A truly bad play that everyone hates: Spark
Not Flame Rod or Spark.
Because I have no clue as to the answer to these riddles... Hah.Quote:

Mmm...:plotting: the anwser is Fire Bow?
It's not Blood Sword or Fire Bow. The key phrase is backwards.
The backwards is Mlapan (Napalm) from the Deep Dungeon. But I don't know the bad play...
Is the bad play Small bomb?
Auragaea, you are correct! The backwards weapon is Napalm.
Kuroshima, you are half right.
Mmmm...thats hard...:plotting: it is Fire Attack?
It's not fire attack.
I'm new here, and not much good for riddles, but I'll take a shot.
A truly bad play that everyone hates: Fire Ball?
Doesn't a skeleton class use a move called "Fire Soul"?
It's not Fire Ball or Fire Soul.
Did you guys check out my hint?
is it oil/grease touch?
Kindreds of the same element- Fire
A backwards and barbaric weapon- Mlapan
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes- Ifrit
A truly bad play that everyone hates- Oil/Grease
It's not oil/grease.
And the term can apply to bad movies as well, but it started with plays.
Kindreds of the same element- Fire
A backwards and barbaric weapon- Mlapan
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes- Ifrit
A truly bad play that everyone hates- Flare?
Not Flare. Your Small Bomb guess was the closest so far.
small spark? bite? counter?
Not any of those.
I guess this term is out of date now....
Kindreds of the same element- Fire
A backwards and barbaric weapon- Mlapan
An evil genie to grant your dark wishes- Ifrit
A truly bad play that everyone hates- Bomb?
Yay!
If I can't think of one by 7:00 pm, anyone can take over. I've never made a riddle, but I'll try to make one.
from person to person
i make my pay
one day i got paid alot
but that was the last battle i fought
try this one
It's a person I'm guessing so Gaff?
from person to person
i make my pay
one day i was sent to kill
but that was the last battle i fought
i had to change a line sorry
Is it Gaff????
no
I know! I know!:hyper: It is the mercenary that is talking with Vormav in Dorter Trade City in the begining of the chapter two!
yea u got it i gotta think of a harder one ur turn
Well, what can i say:D Please, somebody take my turn;i suck at riddles!:trout:
A velvet wind blows across the plains
Promising a deep vengace
Hidden beneath a pious face
And a moving, yet still guardian
Where am I talking about?
I'm going to go with the Windmill Shed.
A velvet wind blows across the plains (It rests on Fovoham Plains)
Promising a deep vengace (Weigraf wants revenge for his sister's death)
Hidden beneath a pious face (Wiegraf is a White Knight)
And a moving, yet still guardian (The windmill where Teta is kept is stationary, but the sails spin)
You are correct (and quick).
Three ways to stop the hands of doom:
Perfect gear for a monk
A crimson feather
Not a football but made
From the same material
Perfect gear for a monk: Fists
A crimson feather: Pheonix Down
Not footballs but made: ??
From the same material: Rubber Costume
Not fists, Pheonix Down, or Rubber Suit.
EDIT: Oops, I made a mistake. I'll rewrite the riddle a bit.
The last two lines refers to a single thing.
Perfect gear for a monk: Judo Outfit
A crimson feather: Red Chocobo (when dead)
Not footballs but made:
From the same material: Some type of armor sold in fur shops when you kill a pig monster?
Judo Outfit is correct.
You're on the right track with the other two.
Perfect gear for a monk: Judo Outfit
A crimson feather: Barette
Not footballs but made
From the same material: Ribbon
A phoenix down is a crimson feather, and it undoes the work done by the hands of doom... Doesn't really stop them...
I'm not feeling creative right now, so someone can take my place.
Im go, im go!:kaoplain: its an easy one, no matter?
well, here it goes:
Somebody steal
something very important for me
i wanted revenge
but before of that
i was defeated
A very easy one!
(well, well, im not good at rhyms, thats true!)
Hiya guys i'm back.I mised EOFF :kaocry:
Is it steal heart
Nope
Is it Rudvich, you know, that guy that(SPOILER) blackmails Mustadio for a Zodiac Stone and gets a fake, which really, really annoys a certain clergyman?
Im sorry but you are wrong:p
^ And you say that you are not good with riddles :p
Is it Algus or Delita?
wigfaf cant spell his name right
And the answer is...Ding! Correct!:kaohappy2 See? it was an easy one!well, its youre turn then
that was easy:) :)
ok heres another simple one
we dont band together
we have differnt skills
we are very powerful
but miss still
Rafa and Malak?
yes i need some really hard one ur turn
Kuroshima is dissconected, so somebody take his turn(im not going to take his turn because i dont feel creative in this moment!:p
I fight for death,
I kill for fun.
If you run,
my fun has just begun!
I'm kinda bad at riddles so..
Celia?
Nope.
Lede?
Wiat your first answer was right and your second answer was right I just put it worng XD
Oh, so the answer is both Celia and Lede?
Yes I just forgot to put the riddle in the plural form.
Okay.
Sometimes you can go down to go up
But by taking a different path back
You may end up on a higher place
Even returning to the same level
Deep Dungeon?
It's not the Deep Dungeon.
Deep Dungeon was not what I had in mind when I wrote this riddle. The answer is not a literal place.
It isnt a literal place uh?...Could you can give me a clue?
HintSome people consider it cheating to do this.
When you step on level reducing traps on purpose then level up so you get better stats?
You are correct, Kuroshima! Your go. :)
Ummm...
I love money,
Nothing'sbetter.
But my biggest pay,
Was never mine.
Phantom Thief Zero?
Your smart Bg your turn.
LOL, Gaff was going to be my first guess, but he seemed too obvious. :D
Straight from the sea
The fires of anger burn
Its essence comforts
In a defensive cloak
Ya I was hopping someone would guess that!
Hmm... Odin?
Not Odin.
leviathan?
Not Leviathan. It's not a summon.
It's not Shell, but the answer has it as a status effect.
It's gotta be "Salty Rage", then, right? =o
It endows 'shell', which is damn close to my guess, and the words 'salty' and 'rage' work with your riddle. 'Essence comforts' could be refering to the fact that it's a purfume.
How about that, am I even close? lol
You are correct, Shinka! The answer is Salty Rage. :)
The fires of anger also refers to Red Dragons, which you can poach to get the perfume from.
Your go.
Okay well, I suck at this riddle business. This will either be too obscure to understand, or too simple. Depends on how you think. =D
You can be as slick as a TIGER --
And as fast as one too, with my help.
I'm rather enigmatical, cryptic and covert.
And although some value me more than others,
No matter who you are, if you're not careful...
I may vanish before your very eyes.
A ninja with sunken state?
Not a ninja or sunken state. Or the combination. [Edit] Unhelpful Hint of DoomAlthough some would argue that ninjas value the answer more than others. [/Edit]
Although, totally off topic, ninjas are sexy. 8D
I am Samurai I hate Ninjas!!! Perfect hunt?
It's been months since I've visited the forums I came tothis thtread first ha! um... is it Vanish Mantle?
Le gasp, Kuroshima, you hate Ninjas? That's pure blasphemy. >:U
Anywho, I'm sorry to say, but I've never heard of Perfect Hunt. Possibly a different translation of something -- perhaps Secet Hunt? Or maybe my FFT knowledge is just lacking. At any rate, the answer is not Perfect Hunt. Sorry. -w-;
Nor, Ziekfried, is it Vanish Mantle. Although that is pretty close. I wouldn't be surprised if someone guessed the right answer next post. =o
Ya I meant to say secret hunt just wasn't thinking right..... Ummm.... Can I haver the answer please?
I'm guessing Setiemson. It adds haste and invisible. It's a must-have for my female units.
Ahhh, sorry guys, I went camping for the weekend. >_>
Quite a clever guess, BG, and would probably match the clues damn well, but it's not what I had in mind. I suppose my clues were just too obscure.
But it is an item, and you've knocked off almost every other possibility. I'm sure the power of deduction can lead to the answer. =D
HintnessIt's a rare item you can only get one of, to narrow it down even more. ;D
Maybe once someone guesses it, they can link the clues from the riddle a little better. Or maybe not. Perhaps my riddles are just that bad.
Must be the Secret Clothes. They are enigmatic, covert, and cryptic. They are found in the D.D. on Tiger. And they add 2 to the wearer's speed lvl.:mwahaha:
Foiled again! :holmes:
Might as well post a new one, Moriarty. I know you're right. :p
And o'course Secret Clothes is correct. I only wish I could get more than one. D:
Told ya I suck at making riddles.
Anywho, now someone with some riddle-skill can step up. Go Despotus, go. =D
My voice is foreign,
and soon I'll be dead.
I give not a warning,
but an order instead.
Don't try to run,
but heed what is said.
Or an innocent life lost
will be on your head.
Who am I?
It is death sentence rigth?
Hello over there! i dont post a lot more, so excuse me.:kaoindif:
Sorry, Purple Shoot. Death Sentence is not the answer I was looking for. The answer is not a skill. ;)
Golagros Levine (no relation to Ted Levine who played Buffalo Bill in the film "Silence of the Lambs".)
Something about the word foreign is nagging me. I'm going to guess Cloud, who is as foreign as you can get in Ivalice, and who can save Aeris if you find him and help him.
Sorry, yous twos. It's neither Gologros nor Cloud. It is a "character" though, albeit a very "minor" one. :jokey:
Izlude?
Is it a generic character from a cut scene?
Sounds like it. It it Lezales, the enemy knight in the opening battle?
Hmmm... Generic, not exactly. I'd say a rather unique character from a cut scene.
Nobody's guessed it yet. Perhaps I should change the word 'foreign' to 'alien', or 'unnatural' in the clue. (SPOILER)Perhaps 'exotic'?...:exdee:
Aha! It's Worker 7, from Nelveska Temple!
Not a bad guess, Conan. But, there are a few inconsistencies between your guess and the riddle. For starters, I think Worker 7-new does issue a warning to intruders and to the researchers. The riddle says no warning. Secondly, they are told to evacuate or retreat within 30 seconds. The riddle says "don't try to run". Thirdly, other than Reis' little problem, I can't think of any innocent life that hangs over our heads in that scene. I also mentioned that this "character" is from a cut-away scene, not a battle prelude. Keep the guesses coming folks.:)
Dang, I thought I had it.
Duke Barinten of Fovoham, seated in Riovanes Castle, home of the most Exotic Wizard of all, Mr. Malak (who is also a duke. The duke of Uselessness)
You're getting much closer. The character in question has a lot to do with Barinten and Malak (foreign/exotic voice, perhaps?). Keep in mind that 'foreign' can mean 'out of place';)
If you could think of the innocent whose life hangs in the balance, you'd be almost there. Keep digging!:holmes:
Oh! Is it the frog messenger that Malak sends to the warehouse that Ramza and Rafa are in to warn them about Alma's fate if they don't go to Riovannes castle? It does a little Mission Impossible this-message-will-self-destruct after that.
Messenger?:kaodizzy:But i thinked that was´nt Malak that turned himself in a frog and talked with Ramza and Rafa?:plotting:
Thanks. :)
No sword in stone
No giants of metal
No hermit wizards
No great events
Why even go there?
Does this relate to a freaking proposition?
Sounds like BG-57 is referring to the optional battle at Dolbodar Swamp, which boasts no great reward. It is unlike other optional battles (Bervenia Volcano, Nelveska Temple, and the Deep Dungeon) which do intice the player with substantial treasures, additional characters, etc.
You are correct Despotus! Your go. :)
With pleasure, B.G. :greenie:
:plotting:
Each clue in this riddle refers to one same thing:
When little Leo joined,
Or when a Virgo's equipment was purloined,
Or perhaps when a winged menace was slain,
What did you gain?
Any relation to Hashmalum?
His father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate... in other words, not related.;)
Zodiac Stones?
Sorry, but not the Zodiac stones. Hint: (SPOILER)The Zodiac signs listed are in reference to characters.
Orlandu and Melaidol?
Sorry, but they were not what was gained. I changed a couple more words in the riddle to help your guesses get on the right track, hopefully. ;)
You can get up to 11 Zodiac Stones by the game's end, not including Leo and Virgo, so they no doubt belong to Vormav Tingel and Alma.
Little Leo would then refer to either Izlude or Meliadoul Tingel. But since only Meliadoul joins, it must be something she brings to the party.
Virgo's equipment must be the equipment you can strip from Alma in the brief time she's in the party roster.
A winged meance may refer to a monster that can be poached for the same item.
My guess is Barette, which can be stolen from Alma or poached from a Red Chocobo. I don't remember if Meliadoul has it in her inventory when she joins, but it's worth a shot.
You got it, B.G.!, although you didn't interpret all of the clues right. Little Leo referred to Alma, whose zodiac sign is Leo, bringing the Barette into the party when she briefly joined as a guest. The Virgo referred to is actually Celia (again it's her zodiac sign), whose Barette you can steal at Riovanes Castle. You were right on about the poachable item that can be gained from the winged, and menacing, Red Chocobo! You're up, Mycroft! :D
Oh okay, thanks Moriarty. :p
Two passages up above
And two passages below
A mirror image reflected
Except the desks and door
I rarely venture guesses. My contribution to this thread is mere commentary.
I know who Mycroft is, but who is Moriarty?
Moriarty is Sherlock Holmes' nemesis.:mwahaha:
My guess, and this is really off the top of my little head, is the Underground book storage at Orbonne.
You're good. What floor? ;)
Ummm... well, the 1st floor, where you kick Wiegraf's ass, is rather symmetric. It's split into two parts seperated by a long wall with 2 doors in the lower part of the wall and 2 more in the upper part. Is that the one?:D
:save: We have a winner! :save:
Damn. I tried to think of a good one, but I can't. So I'll pass my privilege on to the next poster. :p
Hey, hey, I'll take a shot if no one else will. =D
"I once knew a man with three faces;
We'd meet up in all sorts of places.
We once shared a dream,
'til he spoke of war like a stream -
and then finally ran out of aces.
Then there was a man with a stick,
(A teleport made the fight quick).
He condemned me to hell -
before slain near a bell.
His fights he knew not how to pick.
I also met with a warrior-lady, who,
Believed false information was true.
I admit she smelt nice,
though I about fought with her twice;
In the end it turns out she came through.
Add in a mage of incredible might,
With a misconstrued conception of 'right',
Playing behind the scenes,
For a terrible means,
Yet didn't last long in a fight.
Last but not least I had a foe,
And damnit, wouldn't you know,
This all-powerful being,
Lay dormant and scheming,
Inside of an innocent doe."
Each character respectively for the win. ;D
This should be easy for you guys. Maybe a little too easy. But it was fun to write. :3
You're a regular poet, Shinka :)
1) Delita. He's Ramza's friend, pretends to be different things to different people and speaks of defying the stream of fate.
2) Zalmo is the one who declares Ramza a heretic, but is easily defeated in the church battle if you teleport (or Ignore Height) up the church tower.
3) Meliadoul fights Ramza once, and switches sides mid-battle the next time she meets Ramza. She wears a perfume accessory.
4) EDIT: On second thought, it may be Kletian. He's a powerful wizard, loyally serving Vormav's dark designs, but is a complete pushover in the last battle against him.
5) Altima is the boss that was incarnate in sweet little Alma, Ramza's sister.
Point for BG. =D
Delita, Zalmo, Meliadoul, Kletian, and Altima. With Alma and Ramza in there. xD
Sorry if it was mind-numbingly easy, but like I said, it was fun to write. =P
Well then BG, your turn for a new riddle!
:D I loved that one, Shinka. I'm glad I deferred my turn! Where are ya, Mycroft?:p
It was actually tougher than it looked. I initially went with Elidibs as the wizard. :greenie:
Say, do you write poetry on commission, Shinka?
Anyways, here goes:
Here I wait by the gate
For my master to appear
With the twins in tow
Nothing memorable to say
Could it be 'Worker 7' you speak of, BG? He waits at that gate-ish entrance of Nelveska Temple, awaiting his long-dead masters' return, and has twin Hyudras in tow. And he doesn't say much.
First thing that came to mind, but my first guesses tend to be wrong. :rolleyes2
Editness: Oh, to answer your question, BG: I write stories and poems and such for fun, but I've never seen myself as particularly good at it. Certainly not skilled enough for people to commission anything. :rolleyes2
Good guess, but it's not Worker 7 New.
I'll send you a PM about the commission I had in mind.
Could you elaborate a little bit on the "twins in tow" line? I think I've got it, but I can't figure out which twins are in tow.
By that I mean the speaker is with two characters that could be twins.
What I was wondering is whether it was the twins or the speaker that had nothing memorable to say. :O_O:
The speaker.
Does it have any relationship to the scene in Gariland Academy, right before you fight the thieves in Gariland? You know, right after the "No jobs. L I T T L E M O N E Y" thing? Those two guys talking look alike, and I guess that no one in that scene was completely memorable, save Ramza and Delita.
No, but you're correct in guessing that the 'twins' are generics.
Well I wanted to guess the chocobo standing in front of Igros Castle, before Ramza goes in to (SPOILER)kill Dycedarg, but then I can't think of what the twins are, so that guess must be wrong.
It's not the chocobo at Igros.
HintThe generics are human.
Another guess: The archer at Golgorand Execution Site! She is disguised as Princess Ovelia, and she's waiting near the gate waiting for her master Gafgarion to "appear" from his disguise. She has nothing memorable to say when Gafgarion asks "Any last words?" and the twins in tow are the two time mages up top who haven't shown up yet. Do I win?
It's not Golgorand Execution site either. Although the 'master' is Gafgarion.
the gate of lionel castle. the twins are the 2 archers. speaker is the summoner
Not the gates of Lionel Castle.
Hint time.
The speaker works for Gafgarion, but the 'twins' work for a different character.
Is the speaker Rad, and the twins are Alicia and Lavian? I don't think that Rad ever says anything at all.
You are correct, Feion! The speaker is Rad when he hangs out with Alicia and Lavian at Orbonne Monastary.
Technically he has proposition-related dialogue if you send him off in proposition parties, but this is completely optional and even if you do, his remarks are nondescript.
w00t.
Because of you, I'm alive today.
And I'll kill you.
Attack me.
And we'll see who has attacked whom.
The Marquis Elmdor(i dont know if i spelled it rigth but well, that is the answer no?)
A long time i dont post, but well, what do i can do?
Yeppers, that's it.
Soooooooooooo somebody post one!
Wanna go again, feion?
Sorry, my bad.
And no, I don't. My riddles are the ones that aren't ever answered incorrectly. I like BG variety riddles, the kind that seem completely senseless until Despotus answers it, and I say "ooooohhhh, I see."
Thanks...I think. :p
Somebody flunked geometry
While passed from hand to hand
They appear quite round
But not in your inventory
A Chemist?
No. The answer is some type of item.
No, all the items of this class (that you get to see) look different on screen and in the inventory.
Are you talking about the balls that Ninjas throw, like Lightning Ball and so forth?
Nope. These items are not consumable.
the holy stones
URGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I'm sure that's right. Dang.
ill give up my turn so first come first serve. gotta lot of rl stuff goin on so no time to come up with riddles
He was saved, He was killed,
His life is no better than a little weed,
He carries a crossbow to the battle field?
Algus.
Or it could be a generic archer in a random battle that I don't kill because I want to gain JP. You know, where you almost kill him, but then you heal him, speed break him, weapon break him, and turn him into a chicken. Oh, and Don't Move/Don't Act if you have it. And Stop. And Slow, for when stop wears off.
Yeah, either that or Algus.
hey all, I was browsing through these quizzes at work last night, and had to join so I could partake in the action. I have a really good one that I've had for a few years now, I hope I get one of these right so I can give it to ya'll. My FFT knowledge is top knotch, however, i suck at answering riddles, so we'll just have to see how it goes.
You could probably just go ahead and post. I'm sure the 24 hour stipulation has been satisfied.
Ok then, so here goes.... Hope you all like it. I revised it into a riddle a while ago, was more or less just a question in the past...anyways, here goes....
From beginning till end
in darkness and in light,
I wake the sleeping and make them fight.
I give the gift of restless slumber and strength of stone,
to absorb the mighty, but not in flesh nor in bone.
All who gaze upon me know it true,
through darkness and light, for I always do
Who am I and what do I do?
Welcome aboard! :)
My first inclination is something that cancels Sleep, but I can't narrow it to one item specifically, so I'll go with my second inclination and guess the Cursed Ring, which adds +1 to MA, Strength, and Speed, but at the heavy price of making the wielder Undead.
excellent guess, but you're incorrect
I may have to do this by elimination. :p
Is it the Grand Helmet, which cancels Sleep and Darkness?
No, I'll give you a hint...
it's not something that can be equipped or that you use in battle
*EDIT*
I'm getting the feeling that this won't be solved...tomorrow I'll answer it if there hasn't been any more guesses or the correct answer. If you do want to try it out once more, I'll give you one last hint. Each line has some sort of significance in the answer. Figure each one out, and you'll get the answer, but you need to think outside the box to get the second part.Quote:
