I have got 9799 PMs (including sent PMs) in my folders. I have PMs from at least 645 different members. Each member sends me an average of 8.4 messages, however the median is just 2. I hope these statistics help you achieve great things in your life.
EDIT: When I'm at work I get pretty bored, so I fully encourage people to PM me. Especially around this time of the day.

My PM box is 99% (1022) full. It's been like that for over a year now. I just keep deleting the last few messages every now and then to keep it down. :/
My PM inbox was 99% full when I was knighted back in 2006 and was one of two reasons why I accepted the offer. The other reason being getting to see Yamaneko up close in his natural habitat.
