I live in Brisbane QLD Australia and the south east is kickass we have the goldcoast, theme parks, the sunshine coast, Steve Irwins zoo.
It really depends on what you want If you were after a true Aussie holiday Id suggest tackle the Nulabour from Adelaide to Perth on your way back see Uluru.
