i know we're a family friendly environment or whatever
but i don't think the swear filter is necessary in this day and age
what with kids having access to youtube
which isn't censored at all
what parent says 'don't go on youtube it's full of swears.'

I think it exists because some members here have kids and they don't want their kids going onto a site with swears when it turns out their parents are members. Regardless of whether their parents are the ones swearing, it somehow seems to set a bad example?

Another fun story: when I was about 15/16 I wanted to read Jurassic Park. So my mom took the paperback, went through, crossed out every swear word and replaced it with a euphemism in ink pen. Who would have thought people say "DARN" and "HECK!" as they run from bloodthirsty velociraptors and T-rexes?
