yeah i used to cycle every 30min, then that changed to 1 hour, then I realized I don't actually see the desktop all that much because I usually have programs open covering it so I figured 1 day would be fine, and some days I don't even see that day's wallpaper

A program called rainmeter. Check it out, its not too difficult.
is that different from rainlendar? cause i have used that in the past
I can't say! Dunno about that one.
Both Rainmeter and Rainlendar were started by the same guy. Rainlendar is just a customizable calendar, Rainmeter is a desktop customization tool.
