because you're in a room lit with purely red light, does that mean the colour green has turned black, or you're perceiving it to be black. You're perceiving it to be black.
actually it has pigment in it which we perceive to be green.....but it is black because our light receptors arent pickin up any colour from the pigment as there is no light bein absorbed.....
It's your perception of the colour that is changing with the light, not the actual colour.

Actually, if there were no light being reflected it would appear black. If no light is being absorbed, it would appear white. Just had to clear that up.
