Arcturus - Kinetic
Too bad about the troutty mastering. Apart from that this is pretty much perfect. Luckily I've declipped this so the troutty mastering doesn't even bother me anymore :monster:

The White Panda - The Midnight Life (Kanye West // M83 mashup)
just listening to an awesome song named wakka wakka by shakira
Dark Blue -Jack's Mannequin. Perfect driving and pick-me-up song with its catchy piano line :>
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - A Nightmare on My Street
Porcupine Tree - [In Absentia #08] .3 [5:25]
:3
As I wrote on last.fm, this is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking songs I've ever heard. Ever.
Shame about the troutty mastering for this album though. The DVD-A 5.1 mix is better but still not perfect. I ran filtering on it and mixed it down and now it sounds great though :<
Lil Wayne - No Worries (Explicit) ft. Detail - YouTube
Absolutely awful song but the chorus is doing it for me right now... :x
LED Apple - Let The Wind Blow (Barama Bureora)
In a K-pop mood. IDGAF. :kakapo: <--jamming/singing

Time's End

yeah this was an awesome countdown
my fave countdown site of the year
T. Pain - "Booty Wurk"
Marillion - Brave
I can't seem to find a video for this album, except for live performances, and the entire album should really be experienced at once :< Goddamn masterpiece though. If you like prog music at all, this, Marbles, Clutching at Straws, and Misplaced Childhood at the bare minimum are essentials.
Of Montreal - Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse
I am currently listening to Sufjan Steven's new Christmas EP collection, Silver and Gold. Nearly the only Christmas music I can stand anymore (outside of his older Christmas album).
Firework - Katy Perry
Her songs are catchy as hell.
Nine Inch Nails - [The Fragile CD2 #04] The Mark Has Been Made [4:43]
Alphaville - Big in Japan
It goes with some cat image though.
Nick Griffin - I'm Dreaming Of An All-White Christmas
ganganam style by PSY
The Isley Brothers - Contagious feat. R. Kelly - YouTube
Some of the sex music my coworkers play during work... lol. No, I'm not at work. I like it now. XD
Discordance Axis - [The Inalienable Dreamless #10] Loveless [1:27]
Best grind album ever? If not it's definitely top five.

"Bleeding Out" - Imagine Dragons
Calvin Harris :: Feel So Close
DROWNING BY BACKSTREET BOYS....
Greatest Richard Cheese song ever.
Richard Cheese - My Neck, My Back - YouTube
Uncensored mind you. :p
Murray Gold - [Doctor Who: Original Television Soundtrack #27] Doomsday [5:10]
Periphery :: Icarus Lives
MWAHAHAHAHHAAAAA!!!!
(Rewind to last year. The following conversation has been paraphrased.)
Sharky: "Phil, you should check out some of these bands (insert band names, including Periphery). Their musicianship is top notch, and the drumming is amazing."
HNB: "I know metal has some good musicians, but I just can't get past the vocals. I'm not really into that heavy, aggressive sound either."
Sharky: "I think if you listen to it, you'll start to like it."
MWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!Welcome, brother.
WHENEVER WHEREVER BY SHAKIRA
The screaming is still a bit of a bother in some songs, but the moments when he gets his melody lines right are just glorious and make up for all that nonsense. It has a lot to do with how great this particular band are musically though, more so than me liking this style of music. I will concede that you told me so when it came to Periphery though ;D

Ingrid Michaelson - Can't Help Falling in Love
^_^
Enslaved - [The Sleeping Gods #02] Alu Misyrki [5:03]
I don't know how this band manages to make so much music and have all of it be good. They have twelve albums and three EPs out of their roughly twenty-year career, and there isn't a dull song on any of them.
2NE1/G-Dragon/Lee-Hi mashup
This guy came out with a new K-pop mashup today and I can't stop dancing to it.
I'll Get Your Whistle - The White Panda
Yeah, idk
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Winter Wrap Up
Enslaved - [Below the Lights #05] Havenless [5:34]
Sounds way better on vinyl, probably because they actually bothered mastering the vinyl version properly. I wish the vinyl versions of their '90s and '00s stuff were still in print so I could complete my collection :<
Those of you who have seen the documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey will be familiar with this track, even if you don't recognise it by name.
Freelance Whales - "Winter Seeds"
Vocal Spectrum singing Bring Him Home. I've been getting into a Barbershop kick lately.
Been listening to a fair bit of Papa Roach's latest album (The Connection) really enjoying it actually, would definitely consider Papa Roach a band to go see again now they've got new material since my last gig of theirs.
Outlaw Star opening theme
Epic!
Bingo Players - Cry (Just a Little)
I'm a sucker for awful electronic songs like this. And it really is awful. But that trout is stuck in my head and it won't leave.
Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child
Last Boss Rush - YouTube
植松伸夫 [Nobuo Uematsu] - [夜の底にて [At the Depths of the Night] CD1 #02] オープニング~爆破ミッション [Opening/Bombing Mission] [6:04]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_6vl4eC2xk Thank you NeoCracker! It is haunting me now... oh god why..
A progressive rock/metal play list I made. Right now it is on "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" from Pink Floyd's "Animals."

Assück - [Misery Index #02] Salt Mine [1:09]
One of the best grindcore albums ever. I just wish it were longer than 15 minutes. :<
Periphery :: Erised
AlkalineTrio - Those Lungs - YouTube
Ew, their new stuff. :p
ew the new stuff INDEED
actually I haven't heard that song so it may very well be good <33
I like it but I don't really dislike any of their music. :x This Addiction is actually a good album(blasphemy!) once it grows on you and you realize most of the good stuff on it is actually sung by Dan.
I tried to listen to This Addiction but wasn't fond of anything. I might give it another shot, though.
I do love Dan, but Matt's voice crawls into places in my heart where Dan just can't <333
aaaand I'm listening to Mister Chainsaw~
Yeah, I was the same way. Everything felt 'meh' to me but after a few listens through I started liking it.
If Dan's voice wasn't such a good contrast to Matt's, I'd say he has no business doing vocals. Too nasally. >___>
Agree to disagree :colbert: But their contrast is lovely, yes!
Here's to our supurb taste in music, sir!
Cynic - [Focus #01] Veil of Maya [5:21]
I'm not too proud of Florida in most respects, but we do make some damn good death metal in this state :monster:
Oasis - Definitely Maybe album
Ed Sheeran - Drunk
Stuck in my head and I don't know why. Lucky it's a good song or it would get really annoying.
Smashing Pumpkins :: Soma
Ultimate Final Fantasy Battle Medley. - YouTube
Awesome arrangement.
Gettin' Jiggy wit it - Will Smith.
I found this amazing 90's playlist on Spotify, and I'm so in love right now.
Does anyone else in here use Spotify? (:

Alex Clare - Too Close - YouTube

The world needs more Mike Patton.
Avenged Sevenfold :: Bat Country
Leviathan - Paradox - YouTube
Impressive.
Led Zeppelin - [Physical Graffiti #10] Ten Years Gone [6:35]
This is purely The Man's fault, he reminded me it's been forever since I listened to my favourite Led Zeppelin song.
Led Zeppelin :: In My Time of Dying
You stay on page one, dammit!
City and Colour - Little Hell
Some sort of Uniracers remix. I approve because Uniracers was a fantastic game.
The Cranberries - Dreams
dolores riordan is hot
Avenged Sevenfold :: A Little Piece of Heaven
It's kinda terrible that I find this song so romantic.
Ellie Goulding - 'Anything Could Happen'
Moonsorrow - [Kivenkantaja #03] Jumalten kaupunki including Tuhatvuotinen perintö [10:43]
Found a 24-bit "unmastered" version of this without clipping and it is just about the best thing ever. Now I only wish I could find similar versions of the rest of their material :<
Maduk feat. Veela - "Ghost"
Can't stop listening to it. :choc2:

Alabama Shakes - Rise to the Sun (2012) - YouTube
Trying to figure out if I really like these peeps or if SNL tricked me.
Nyktalgia - [Peisithanatos #04] Pavor Nocturnus [12:09]
Just found out this group split up like five years ago. That's a shame; they were one of the only "depressive" black metal groups I actually liked much.
Periphery :: Froggin' Bullfish
Seeing them on Mondaaaay ^_^
...
Because We Believe- Andrea Bocelli
Don't you smurfing judge me.
Lotus Thief - [III: Doom in Bloom/Allies CD2 #05] Nymphaea Carulea [6:18]
If you want to listen you can stream it here. The first disc of this is a hammered dulcimer metal project called Botanist. The first and third releases are black metal, more or less, just with hammered dulcimer replacing the traditional rôle of guitar and bass; this release is doom metal. Each release adds more distortion to the mix as well. The second disc of this release is a series of songs composed by friends of the band based around drum tracks from the album. Most of these are also doom metal, but they are more traditional doom metal compositions, with guitar and bass. Botanist is phenomenal and most of the artists who contributed to this are also quite great.
Ghosts - Watching You Go
aaaaah it's like Alice Glass and Thom Yorke had a baby and I can't get enough of it
Offspring - You're gonna go far kid
MS MR - "Bones"
:mog:
I WILL WAIT I WILL WAIT FOR YOU
I WILL WAIT I WILL WAIT FOR YOU
^ That song is great.
Wodensthrone - [Curse #03] First Light [10:58]
If there's more majestic metal than this, I haven't heard it yet.
Andy McKee - Gates of Gnomeria
Harp guitars are always interesting to watch.
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
THE PURPLE BOTTLE
MOTHERsmurfERS
edit since doubleposting is smurfing stupid
QUE SERA SERA MOTHERsmurfERS
These are a huge favourite of mine, a band that actually isn't from the 80s (80s British Metal is best Metal) but more recent.
They combine elements of Irish folk music, doom metal and black metal.
Shining - [VI: Klagopsalmer #02] Plågoande o'helga plågoande [6:49]
This is substantially better than I remember it being. It's no Halmstad, obviously, but it's still pretty solid depressive black metal.
Wintersun - Land of Snow and Sorrow
smurf yeah, Wintersun.
Porcupine Tree - Waiting (Phase One + Phase Two) - YouTube
All Porcupine Tree. All the time.
"Emil/Karma" from the NieR soundtrack
I want to go on an epic adventure now.
Bonobo - Dismantling Frank
It goes without saying that Wintersun and Porcupine Tree are awesome.
Shining - [Live Blackjazz #06] Winterreise [6:14]
Different Shining than the above (this one is Norwegian; the other one is Swedish). I need this on vinyl. The mastering on the CD is terrible and declipping only gets rid of so much of the distortion, but Indie Recordings always do a good job with their LPs in my experience. Plus there's an extra track that isn't on the CD.
There isn't another group that sounds like Norwegian Shining. They are probably inimitable.
coolio turns 50 this year hahahhahahhahahaa
These are a little bit soft on the vocal side for me but WOW, its a grower. The chorus and the guitar tone. SUPERB!
Periphery :: Racecar
Yep, still Periphery.

science fiction (ooh ooh ooh)

dr. ex
SEX SEX SEX
will build a creature
This song gives me chills, and just gets better and better. I can't believe that I went so long without having this album. (For the third time.)
Bob Dylan - [The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan #06] A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall [6:55]
greatest living songwriter. there isn't even any competition.
The Mars Volta :: Drunkship of Lanterns
animal collective - feels, strawberry jam, and merriweather post pavilion (entire albums over and over again)
click my sig for a good song from merriweather post pavilion
I've been listening to that exact same song on repeat for like, three days.
Frank Zappa - [Hot Rats #06] It Must Be a Camel [5:13]
Clearly one of the best composers of the 20th century. Despite his gigantic recorded output, he still died way too young.
Motoi Sakuraba - Four Kings
thanks roogle, this is the best boss music ever
Florence + the Machine - Shake it Out
that song may or may not have brought a tear to my eye when i was driving a little while ago. inspirational.
The music in my head happens to be;
Word Up- Korn
As to why I have no earthly idea.
The Prodigy :: Invaders Must Die
My Bloody Valentine - [Feed Me with Your Kiss #04] I Need No Trust [3:33]
New LP came today. Need to sort out my sibilance issues so I can listen to it properly.
The Flaming Lips - The Gash
the soft bulletin is such a good album. and if this song doesn't motivate you then i'm sorry you're lost forever
Ahhhhhhhhh
Rob and I are jamming out.
Bear McCreary - [Human Target CD2 #16] Lockdown [5:02]
why the smurf did they replace him for the second season? the fact that McCreary got a three-disc soundtrack and the other guy still hasn't gotten a soundtrack release probably tells you everything you need to know
Stone Sour :: Cold Reader
The goddamn Caillou theme song.
Kill it with fire.
Love me some Sum!
Sum 41 - Still Waiting - YouTube
Calvin Harris :: Feel So Close
Between the Buried and Me - [Colors Live #03] Informal Gluttony [6:48]
OneRepublic - "Secrets"
I hardly listen to the radio, so this song is new to me (yeah, a few years late, but meh). And I love it.
Amy McDonald - Pride
I can't believe this thread is still going.. :)
Nine years! Pretty incredible, isn't it?
sarah please stay on topic
Beastie Boys - Girls
I hope she's speeding on the way to the club
Trying to hurry up to get to some
Baller or singer or somebody like that
And try to put on her makeup in the mirror
And crash, crash, craaaaaaaash into a ditch
(just playin)
Karnivool :: Synops
Johnny Cash, Carla Bruni, Tegan and Sara and Ryan Adams. Religiously.
The Flaming Lips - Fight Test
the test begins...
NOW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW
Tool - Lateralus
SPIRAL OUT
Sleepwalker - [Sleepwalker II #02] Wolf of Truth and Dream [7:59]
I wish I could link to a video of this but there's pretty much no chance of this being uploaded anywhere because it's way too obscure, and the fact that the only digital release of this material didn't have song titles doesn't help either. Truly eerie black metal/post-rock. For people who like this type of music I also strongly recommend Fell Voices and Ash Borer, both of which are related projects (although Ash Borer has two degrees of separation).
nothing but the sounds my furnace makes
Skyharbor :: Maeva
Brand New - Guernica
it's Brand New and Beer night baby
Taeyang - "Wedding Dress"
I still know most of the choreography. :D
The Rutles - Shabby Road Medley
Didn't even know this existed.
James Morrison - Nothing Ever Hurt Like You
*wails* LOOOOOKIN BACK ON WHEN WE FIRST MET
Sanubia Sands - Final Fantasy X
I'd advise anyone to just put this on in the backround while your browsing. It's so chilled.
