Jessica Simpson's cover of " Take my Breath Away ", for the Top Gun movie - not an amazing song but I liked it up until she muscled in and ruined it beyond repair with her damned cheesiness. And that sister of hers ... * punches wall *
I wouldn't exactly call them covers, maybe toy soldiers since they have the same name and maybe the lyrics, but the others are like... what rap music is built on, rapping their own words over other people's music. Tupac's Changes, and countless others were the same way. Some follow the same subject matter and keep the chous and stuff. Good? Bad? I dunno!Quote:

motorhead's cover of ac/dc's back in black..that was just annyoing listening to. metallica:garage INC is a good cover cd. metallica started as a cover band and they sure know wich songs that fits them.
im sure there is much worse covers than motorhead with back in black...but u guys allready typed them..so
most if not all bands start off as a cover band there cheif.
Anytime ANY rapper tries to cover a classic, its horrible. Rap is bad enough as it is, and then they disgrace a classic by adding a few "uh's" and "yeah's", and the same riff or lyric in repitition. P-Diddy's cover of Kashmir is a good example, and so is that one by P-Diddy and Notorious B.I.G.'s chick after he died....whats-her-name.......damn, they did an 80's love song..originally by Sting (or the police), I think.....anybody remember the name?!? Anyways, it was horrible, that's probably why I forget it.Quote:

i totally agree. die die my darling is much cooler by metallica than the misfits version
Hmmmmm....Cyndi Lauper's rendition of Unchained Melody didn't do anything for me.
That song was the 1983 Billboard #1 hit Every Breath You Take by The Police. The song P.Diddy did with Faith Evans was I'll Be Missing You, the lyrics were (for the verses mostly) changed quite a bit from the original.Quote:

If you think rap covers over rock songs are horrible, it's even worst the other way around. I mean Ben Folds is the best example to mind right now, he is a good talent...but it goes to waste in a cover of Dre's Bitches Ain't Sh*t. I'm sorry, no rock singer should ever try to rap...it's like, as some would quote it "An embarrassment to white people everywhere."
That's called "sampleing", not a cover.Quote:

It was some punk band called '36 Spoons' or something...
Yep........that is an embarrasment for a rock band to try to cover a rap (crap) song. Why any rock band would try to do that is beyond me. If I were a musical artist, I personally would have more pride and self respect than to tarnish my album, with the crap people call rap. I have never heard that song by Ben Folds Five, but I can imagine its pretty horrible. That's why you don't see it that often, because its just wrong. Its like Metallica trying to sing a Hymn.Quote:

It always sucks.
Maybe that's just me and my bias for rock/alternative/metal/hardcore/etc, and actual musicianship. I never could get down with the gangsta/homeboy image, rap or R&B, or techno, or whatever.
She covered another song!? I swear, it's an evil plot!Quote:
