The wicked tree sang, each word that fell from the knotted bark crushed Formalhaut's spirit that little bit more. He couldn't take this mean critic anymore and he fled from the forest, leaving The Golden Pen on it's plinth for the next writer to try to pass....

This time, came Fynn the novelist. He was dressed in fine garbs with hair as quaffed as that of a Prince. He strode through the forest atop his white steed; wondering if there might even be a Damsel in Distress he could save once he had snatched up the pen. Before he had a chance to make it to the magical plinth, he heard the nearby screams of a damsel in a dangerous situation, and off he galloped to save her - perhaps she would fall in love with him too! As he drew near, he saw that the damsel was in fact an ugly hag - and she pointed at him and yelled in his face; "CLICHE!". Fynn became so shocked that he fell from his horse and skedaddled at high speed back home.

The next contender was a news reported, Freya! She carried her pen and paper with her as she chose a clear path through the forest. She took in the beautiful settings and scribbled down notes about it - pretty soon she had lost her way and had almost forgotten about The Golden Pen until she saw it in the distance - glowing at her. She took another step forward but nearly jumped out of her skin as a 'POOF' of smoke appeared! Behind it was none other than Rupert Murdoch! "My, Freya! I love your news skills! I want to offer you a job at my TABLOID!". Freya screamed and ran in the opposite direction.

Next up came the beautiful Midgar Mist - the post-modern poet. Now, this lady was not about to let that Golden Pen slip from her grasp. She bolted through the forest, not letting up as she raced forward as if her life depended on it. But of course, her very life DID depend on it - she HAD to get that pen or she would be the worst writer ever for life. But maybe she already was? What good would a stupid pen be when she was already so useless at forming sentences and writing metaphors.... Her crushing SELF-DOUBT caused her to lose sigh of The Golden Pen, and she instead left the forest in floods of tears.

Then came Myst Knight - the next competitor looking to get their hands over The Golden Pen and rule the world with the riches to be made from being the Best Writer Ever! They kept thinking about their future so much so that eventually night had turned to day and they had lost all sight of what they were after - it was the PROCRASTINATION! Rats!

Today was the turn of jack-of-all-trades Night Fury! She ran quickly through the green forest filled with green trees. She hop-stepped over the roots peeking up from the dirty ground. She breathed breathingly from her own lungs in her chest before the brain of grey matter in her skull realised and thought aloud and also inwardly that she was suffering sickly from redundant REDUNDANCY! ARRRGH!

The journey was almost through, there were only two heroes left! The next was bl0gger Pumpkin! She like, totally skipped through the forest as best she could, keeping up a gr8 pace to get her hands on that Golden Pen. She clacked the keys of her keyboard - updating her Twitter followers that she was almost there; "Nrly at the G0lden P3n lyk ya" she typed. She head a loud 'GONG' sound and then a booming voice shouted at her

"YOUR GRAMMAR AND SPELLING ARE AWFUL!"

All she could muster up to say was; "Eh, it's all the internets fault!"

Finally came Wolf Kanno - and unlike the previous heroes he actually came to The Golden Pen. He lay his fingers against it and held it in his hand. He had succeeded where others hadn't - where they couldn't! He cheered triumphantly until he realised that the Plinth had morphed into a large block. As he stared upon it's smooth surface he lost his mind and couldn't figure out what to do.... He had been stumped by a WRITER'S BLOCK!!!

A truly cautionary tale, of all our heroes, none could succeed and become the BEST WRITER EVER. So now it's up to you to decide who should receive the accolade!

Cave paintings that help us learn where we came from, musical pieces and fairytales that help tell us where we've been. Let's show some appreciation for the artist in all of us. And, of course, the nominees.

To drag them into this dysfunctional family we have here, so they have no choice but to stay and then one day become the harassers of the next generation of newbies just in time for the next Ciddies. Ahhhhhh the circle of life.

So, to the winner - I say this - congratulations! Wear your sparkling crown with pride and be happy that you are 'The Chosen One'! You're the Gnarliest Newbie around, and you've won us over with your charm, hilarity, and enthusiasm. However, be prepared to hand that crown over and climb up to join us Veterans on the shelf. But don't worry, we have cookies, gin, and sarcasm. You'll be fine. This is just the start for you!

For those of you who didn't win, don't be disheartened. It's a cheesy cliche but you are all winners. You've made it this far - you didn't quit, you didn't stop coming here! Let me be the one to give you a hand up onto our shelf. So you're not the Gnarliest Newbie today, that sucks. But tomorrow, you could be the Most Tubular Member. Keep your chin up pupster, tomorrow is a new day so keep shining, keep up that spirit, keep up that charm. We see you.

If anything he could say this was common and fine
But he thought better of such things and merely introduced himself

I stayed awake to watch the vet award, since for me it has always been the peak of the awards. Since I can remember I have always looked up to the legends of the forum that have held this award, and there have been some great ones. It sounds cheesy but I am so honoured to be nominated for it, and thank you to everyone who voted for me. It is the peak of my forum career.

Allow me to go on at length about each and every member nominated for 'Gnarliest Staffer' and how pure of heart each of them are. Starti-

... nope. No. I can't do it. I can't go on like this, keeping up this charade. I must reveal the truth to all the EoFF members, who have been lied to all these years. Wake up, sheeple! What you thought was just a simple joke is actually cold, hard fact. The EoFF staff actually are Shinra! They hired me to continue falsifying reports and produce good publicity for them, but before they ban me and erase all memory of my existence, the word must be known!

The entire organisation is involved. Every member that has been nominated for 'Gnarliest Staffer' is involved with the corrupt organisation. I've been working with a deep cover journalist, who has managed to smuggle in some shocking secrets about EoFF staffing practice.

Let's start with Bubba. This man only recently joined Shinra, but he's quickly shot up the ranks due to a few unscrupulous fixing events. Did you know he had a child just to secure a 'Cutest Couple' Ciddie? There are no words to describe the lengths this man would go to. Who knows where that child is now? Is the child becoming indoctrinated at an early age to serve Shinra's purposes? Or something far worse? Unfortunately my colleague has been unable to enter Shinra's kindergarten on floor 53 of the Shinra building. He gets to floor 24 via the stairs but gets way out of breath and has to stop. I did ask him to use the elevator, but he says it malfunctions frequently.

Then there's Depression Moon. This man is an editor, which in Shinra-speak means 'Propaganda Extraordinaire'.

There are rumours that Depression Moon is in league with game developers and E3 to dupe us into being hyped for the remake of Final Fantasy VII. They lure us in with enticing gameplay tasters and trailers, but what they do not reveal is that Final Fantasy VII is actually a freemium mobile game. With a daily play limit.

While some specialise in disinformation, others enjoy extracting information from others. Painfully. With pliers. Maybe shackles. Torture - I'm talking about torture guys.

Freya doesn't appear the type to engage in such violent acts. Look at her profile? A Kawaii dragon? Adorable! A cute little fork icon? Daawww. But that silk hides some serious, blood-soaked steel. Freya isn't called 'Master of the Fork' for her badass culinary skills. She uses that fork for more... painful activity. This shocking footage captured in secret by my colleague shows Freya at her devious worst.

With a name like Psychotic, you'd think this guy would be more suited to instruments of death and torture. Actually, this guy is above such actions. Psychotic is actually one of the highest executives in Shinra. He controls so much - there's possibly some powers we don't even know about. One clue about his reach is within his own location. "...to wipe away the debt", like some kind of anti-Lannister. Suspicious. And we don't know how EoFF is even funded, leading to more suspicion that it EoFF is just a Shinra front!

Pumpkin's different, however. From what little we know of her, she appears rather normal, at least compared to the soulless corporate demons of the other staff members. But every staff member has done or is something reprehensible, and Pumpkin has a guilty secret that could topple the organisation...

... she's CANADIAN.

This would surely damage the reputation of Shinra, yup, I'm sure. If we keep spreading the word, we can dismantle the nasty Shinra, one staff member at a time! The people will raise up in anger!

But stopping them will be difficult when Shinra employs tough-as-nails enforcers of their unfair laws. Sephex and Shauna are two of Shinra's top Cid's Knights, no doubt chosen due to their steely glares and alliterative names. It is their role to crush any hint of rebellion or dissent. They are truly to be feared.
