Ihsahn - [The Adversary #01] Invocation [5:08]
Ihsahn's vocals are amongst the best in progressive metal, but he's had classical training so I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise. He's honestly almost up there with vocalists like Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, King Diamond, etc., in terms of the quality of the cleans, and is arguably more versatile due to his wide range of screaming styles.
His solo stuff isn't as great or historically important as his work in Emperor but it's still tremendously interesting material.
I just listen to what is refered to as 'A super Black man remix'. Now, if you know what song I speak of, I pity you, for it is aweful.
Really, Really smurfing aweful. O_O

Lana del Rey - Gods and Monsters
you can "blame" Sarah and Nikki for me listening to Lana again so soon
but "blame" implies a negative connotation
Yes. You should be thanking me.
and YOU should be thanking whoever told you to listen to her in the first place! (i assume Pontus)
I think he did tell me to originally, but my sister has been getting me into her!
Marina and The Diamonds - Buy the Stars
aaaaaah this smurfing song I love it so much
I just love her range - it generally sounds lower the average pop singer to me (though this song isn't a good representation of that). Something about it makes it sound like she's sad and that makes her sound a little alternative to me. I just wish she wasn't so poppy because I think I could legitimately enjoy her more if it weren't for all those pop beats and whosits and whatsits going on in the background of many of her songs.
Modern classic.
I prefer The Family Jewels to Electra Heart because it's far less electro-pop focused. That said, Electra Heart has Teen Idle, so it's not all bad
you should try Sky Ferreira. stylistically fairly similar to Marina.
and on that note, I'm listening to Sky Ferreira - Everything is Embarrassing currently
PSY's new single
heck yes
best thing to happen since Gangnam Style

K's Choice - Not An Addict

damn good song imo
I discovered The Gaslight Anthem not long ago. I avoided them on account of their stupid name, but goddamn, their trout is catchy. They remind me of a mix between Against Me!, The Airborne Toxic Event and Alkaline Trio. So, post-punk, I guess?
edit: nope, this one is my favorite! god it's so damn good
You've been missing out. Gaslight Anthem is just good ol' rock with punk roots. Don't just a book by it's cover, don't judge a band by it's name! :jess:
Learned my lesson! :jess:
Sometimes it's hard. Bands can pick some bad names......
The Airborne Toxic Event's name is pretty damn terrible, too, but I see god when I listen to them.
That name does sound freaking awful. :stare:
But they're so good! If this first song doesn't make you have feels then you are probably Huxley or Pike or the Tin Man.
and this song just makes me so :jess: because it reminds me of myself
Found out about this band after watching The Voice Philippines clips and hearing a contestant sing this song:
Sayang Na Sayang | Aegis
It's one of those powerful soft rock ballad sounding things. :kakapo:
Karnivool :: Alpha
This.
Perfect driving playlist song #1. It's also one of my feel-good tunes. :)
Their name sounds good to me, but maybe that's just because I'm familiar with the book to which it's a reference.Quote:
The Airborne Toxic Event's name is pretty damn terrible, too, but I see god when I listen to them.
Nothing now, but I just completed a rip of maudlin of the Well's Part the Second (and before that, the Bath/Leaving Your Body Map/Secret Song box set).
All the time. Over and over.
Karnivool :: Aeons
Sonata Arctica - The Last Amazing Grays
[The Days of Grays]
One of my favourite songs by this band.
Pink Floyd - Division Bell
I think it's probably their best album, and I'm probably pretty alone with that opinion. :p
This just came in the mail today:
Attachment 45790
Boy was it expensive!!
...But it's worth every penny. Every last note of the score, beginning to end.
James Horner just kicked this picture's ass.

Folk-ish dude I discovered this week... hell I'm posting 2 songs
Yeah, yeah, Quadrophenia, perhaps not that novel in this age of Battleships crashing through Buildings...
But I'll let you in on a little secret...
I'm singing along.
Finally picked up Game of the Year Editions's 'Making Mirrors', and it's pretty great so far.
I liked all the singles off it, and the Album is pretty much more of that. Some great indie rock. Right now it's playing Eyes Wide Open.
Konstantine - Something Corporate
Nemertimes - Complex
Strapping Young Lad - [Strapping Young Lad #08] Force Fed
This vinyl box set is so amazing I can't even
Two of my favorite music-makers. I still don't know how this song didn't get bigger than it was (or maybe it did and I just didn't pay attention).
Currently listening to the Reborn album by Trapt... god damn I like this!
Wintergatan - Sommarfagel You're welcome. I just discovered this group, and they are so good.
Rustie - Slasherr
I'm pretty sure I just soiled myself
Just picked up Silverthorne, the new Kamelot CD. I'll say I still prefer Kahns Vocals to the new guys, but damn he's still great. First three songs listened too, and Ahses to Ashes is my favorite so far.
Glad to know my worries on the new lead singer were unwarrented. :monster:
